The VS Dental College & Hospital (VSDC&H) was established in the year 1986 which was affiliated with Bangalore University. The Institution started its first batch with 52 students and the current intake for BDS is 100. The Institution is presently affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka. The MDS courses started in the year 2001-02 with the present intake of 38 seats. PG Diploma courses and certificate courses in the subject of Esthetic Dentistry and Implantology in the year 2009-10.

Eligibility – BDS course

A candidate seeking admission to first BDS course: a) In Vokkaligara Sangha Dental College Admission candidate Should have passed the two years Pre-University Examination of Pre-University Board of Karnataka with English and Physics Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology individually* also. OR

b) Should have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology individually. OR

c) Should have passed an Intermediate examination in Science of an Indian University/Board/Council or other recognized examining bodies with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology individually. OR

d) Should have passed the pre-professional/ pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination. e) Should have passed first year of the three year degree course of a recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the Examination is a ‘University Examination’ provided that the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology individually in the pre-university or other examinations mentioned in the clauses above. OR

f) Should have passed B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) provided the candidate has passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology individually in the qualifying examinations mentioned in clauses (a), (b) and (c).  

ELIGIBILITY – MDS COURSE

A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have a. The recognized degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) awarded by an Indian University in respect of recognized Dental College under Section 10(2) of the Dentists Act, 1948 or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration with the State Dental Council. Candidates not possessing a recognized Dental qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he can be admitted to the MDS Course of any University in India.

Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the dental college/institution to which he is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies.

Provided that further temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered as a dental practitioner in his own country from which he has obtained his basic dental qualification and that his degree is recognized by the corresponding dental council or concerned authority.
