I'm posting this because I feel very strongly about my tiny patients and I think it's important for people to know that:

a) if decay on baby teeth is left untreated it can spread so much it starts to hurt and fixing deeper cavities is much harder and traumatising for the patient, thier parent and the dentist

b) it can easily spread to neighbouring adult teeth that are still in the procces of erupting and enamel hardening

c) if they rot all the way the inflamation can spread to yet unevolved adult teeth inside the bone socket and damage it

d) untreated decay can cause inflamation and swelling and in rare cases some very dangerous states for small children

e) and last but not least, some parents don't know better or don't care. it is VERY important to teach children that going to the dentist is not dangerous and that we are not there to hurt them and also that it is not completely comfortable but very necessary procedure they HAVE to do both now and when they grow up and start taking care of themselves. fixing tiny cavities on baby teeth that will fall out eventually is the best way to do that.
