My unpopular opinion about The Godfather is that the Sicilian sequence was ass boring in the movie, I literally couldn’t wait for Michael to go back home lol.

In the novel it was eww because of the actual details of Michael and Apollonia’s relationship. On the one hand, I think they should have been incorporated into the movie to shed more light on the true nature of that union for the people who didn’t read the book, on the other, I’m actually grateful I didn’t have to see it. An underage actress appearing topless on screen was already too much. WTF Francis?

People need to stop putting characters in the Swedegarb when they want to put them in a "traditional" clothing. Like most of the folkgarb are weird romantic reconstructions but that one in particular isnt even 200 years old and was meant to get rid of regional variants and to homogonize Sweden-Norway. It's also basically only worn by the royal family and posers that want to be trad. Also beyond this it's also kinda misogonynist in that it lacks a mangarb. Basically all the regionals are better to express it and carries a less monarchist, nationalist and imperialist vibe about it. Its also as ugly as a beating.

Song Review: Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders feat. Paul Butterfield - “Save Mother Earth” (Live, Jan. 19, 1972)

Part composition and part improvisation, “Save Mother Earth” was an oft-visited vehicle for Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders’ informal, early-1970s gigs in California.

So when Paul Butterfield came by on Jan. 19, 1972, to play with guitarist Garcia, organist Saunders, bassist John Kahn and drummer Bill Vitt, “Save Mother Earth” was featured and Butterfield blew harp like a man intimately familiar with the tune.

Out to preview side one of the forthcoming Heads & Tails: Vol. 1, this previously unreleased recording sports high-quality sound and music that’s both loose and tight. No noodles on this one. And when Garcia and Butterfield lock into some call-and-response action in the 13th minute, the lucky few in attendance must’ve been agog.

Out Nov. 3, Vol. 1 is backed with the Feb. 5, 1988, recordings of the Jerry Garcia Band’s versions of “Don’t Let Go” and “Think.” The LP is the first is a series of archival recordings from the back pages of Garcia’s repertoire.

“Save Mother Earth” is an auspicious first hit.
