zeri is probably the smartest guy in his class! but that doesn't mean that there isn't someone in another class that matches his intellect

you're the smartest person in your class as well, but when competing with other classes, zeri always stuck out to you as exceptionally smart

however, you still didn't view him as as much as a rival as zeri viewed you! you were confident you could always beat the boy, while zeri couldn't help but wonder how you could be better than him!

sure, zeri is a little overly confident in his intellect, but he didn't expect to be humbled so much when you easily outclassed him during an exam

after that, he made it his mission to ‘win’ against you! even if it was just one time!

he began to study relentlessly, taking this one sided rivalry very serious and allowing it to push him further to new heights

however, it was only when zeri finally admitted defeat that he could begin to reach your level

turns out all he needed was to admit he struggled to outclass you and ask for your help to study. and only when he started having those little study dates with you did he begin to really reach your level!

but at that point, it wasn't just about grades or pride anymore. zeri genuinely enjoyed spending time with you and he grew fond of you, wanting to continue your study dates not just to learn, but to be near you as well…

I did this run for Questing for Glory, an online RPG speedrunning marathon, back in November. For those of you who may have watched a VC2 speedrun before, this run shows off a completely new route that DoomyDoom worked on.

On commentary with me was Louffe, who is really knowledgeable about the series.

This was such a fun run to do and I couldn't ask for a better showcase of what speedrunning this game is like. Hope you enjoy!

I was so excited about the mxmtoon and george interactions because iirc before I joined the fandom, a friend had recommended to me prom dress and I was obsessed with the song 😭 so I was happy when I joined and saw the clips of george playing her songs on stream and the screenshots of them talking on twt. (Smoking a cigarette) Man...... Also idk if maybe I lost track of time but didn't that happen like days after The Vlog ™?

I'm always so confused when people say Valkyria Chronicles 1 has better gameplay than 2 or 3. VC1 is such a mess of awful design. The big massive maps means the game is slow and the only good class is scout. Vc2 fixed every issue I had with the game.

The tone works a lot better when characters can't die, (still remember my only death in VC1 because it was so funny to see a 15 year old child die and literally a minute later silly pig hijinks happen) the smaller maps means shock troopers and lancers aren't a total liability, and the inclusion of more fantasy classes allow the game to be more interesting in enemy unit make up and player classes.

This server has been my hyperfixation since the beginning of 2021. Unfortunately I joined ag the end of the ‘golden age’ as it were. But I’ve made hopefully lifelong friends through this stupid block roleplay, and the characters and story mean the world for me and will forever. I know this fandom is going to get smaller now. I know people will move on. But I think I’ll be here for a few more years.

Dream SMP, thank you for helping me fall in love with stories again. Thank you for helping me grow in my own writing and in my artwork. Thank you for being here when I needed you, thank you for getting me through these last few years. Thank you for giving me characters I could love and relate to, who feel more real than anything else. And thank you for introducing me to creators I will forever love.

I’m so glad I was here.

Valkyria Chronicles? It's been a long time since I heard of that, thanks for the nostalgia trip you sent me on.

How about the squad 7 members when their S/O gets injured?

(Valkyria Chronicles) Welkin, Alicia, Isara, and Rosie's S/O getting injured

3 other friends and I have been playing VC2, and I've been replaying 1 and got reminded of my love for the game, thus their addition here.

Though absolutely startled to hear that S/O took a hit during the skirmish, Welkin tries his best to remain calm.

Welkin approaches the medical tent S/O is staying in and takes a deep breath seeing the bandage wrapped around them.

(Welkin) "Thank goodness you're alright..."

Before sitting next to S/O, he personally attends to every soldier that was injured as well, finally taking a seat next to S/O when he's done.

His mind is put at ease knowing they'd recover, but can't help but feel responsible for the injury since he ordered S/O into the position to begin with.

(S/O) "You don't have to stress about me y'know?...Ah, why don't you tell me about some of the animals you saw on the way here?"

LAST MISTAKE.

Now, S/O has to deal with the consequences of Welkin yapping their ear off about the type of fauna generally found in this area for an hour, getting his mind off their injury and onto his borderline-obsessiveness with nature.

Much to the dismay of S/O's other squadmates in the tent.

(Welkin) "-...and the type of beetles are also quite uncommon! They generally don't make themselves known until the spring and-...S/O?"

S/O was sprawled out on the bed with a drained smile, putting one hand on his shoulder.

(S/O) "Welkin...I think you should probably go to the debriefing."

(Welkin) "Huh?...OH! R-Right, I'll catch up with you later!"

Once he promptly made his exit, one of the soldiers next to S/O on the stretcher turned their head to them.

(Soldier) "Why did you have to ask him about nature?"

(S/O) "I...w-wasn't thinking..."

Alicia is absolutely stricken with worry the moment S/O's injuries reaches her.

Flying open the tent's flaps, her eyes scan the area before finally landing on S/O and rushing to their side.

(Alicia) "S/O! Are you alright?! How bad was the shot-"

(S/O) "W-Woah! Alicia, I-I'm alright!...OW!"

Alicia had grabbed their arm, and their wincing did little to calm her down.

(Alicia) "You call this 'alright'? If you had gotten hit any closer-"

She quickly goes silent when she realizes half the room was staring at her, making Alicia clear her throat.

(Alicia) "Apologies for disrupting the quiet. As you were, everyone."

With a quick salute she sighs and sits back down next to S/O, squeezing their hand.

(Alicia) "I'll be back with something to drink at least. Promise me you won't get hurt like this again, okay?"

(S/O) "As long as you promise to as well."

With a soft giggle and a final squeeze of their hand, she nods and leaves.

The moment she helps finishes the Edelweiss's repairs, Isara quickly makes her way to the medical tent where S/O was being held.

Isara sits next to S/O and brings them a canteen full of water.

(Isara) "Sorry I couldn't be here sooner, are you holding up okay?"

(S/O) "Yeah, just stings like hell..."

Isara's quiet laughter eases S/O, until they noticed some of the soldiers glaring at Isara.

She doesn't even have to hear them speak, Isara knows already what's got S/O trying to move out the bed.

(Isara) "First of all, you shouldn't be moving.-"

With a hand to their chest shoving them back in the bed, she shakes her head.

(Isara) "And secondly, don't focus on them. Just focus on me, okay?"

(S/O) "Darcsen or not, you're still fighting alongside us! They should-"

Isara's hand moved to S/O's and just holds it tightly.

(Isara) "Believe me, if they want to say something to my face, I'll have something to say right back...But thank you. It still means a lot to me."

S/O just sighs and nods, the pain of their injury mostly subsiding from their mind now.

Rosie would have kicked the door open if the medical tent was a building, instead the flaps flew wildly as she announced her presence.

(Rosie) "S/O, you idiot!"

S/O slumps in their bed as some snickering came from the other soldiers.

Though they were quickly silenced when Rosie closed the distance, gesturing for them to mind their own damn business.

Rosie crossed her arms and stood staring at S/O.

(Rosie) "How in the hell did you manage to get hit? What, were you just not paying attention?!"

(S/O) "Ugh, y-yeah. They caught me by surprise-"

(Rosie) "Next time, focus better on your drills! I'm not dragging your ass out of the fire if there's a next time!"

S/O wryly smiled and nodded, all the while Rosie just scoffed and rolled her eyes.

(S/O) "Appreciate the concern as always, Rosie."

(Rosie) "Psh, whatever."

Rosie at the very least grabs their shoulder tenderly...Before shaking it violently and startling S/O.

(Rosie) "Wipe that smirk off too. I gotta get back to cleaning my equipment."

Claude:

I never intended to make a VC4 log. I never intended to start playing VC4 until I finished VC2. I wanted to just get through it to see how it was because you apparently didn't need to play VC2-3 to play this one.

But dear GOD.

The gameplay is much more challenging, and there's WAY more things to do here. I've had to look at guides for most of the levels, just like VC1 except I wasn't running around screaming. Siegval Line is the only level where I got a B... God that chapter was an absolute nightmare.

But the story and characters are much MUCH WORSE, and I thought VC2 was bad. VC1's mains were mostly pleasant but boring, and the most annoying ones - Largo and Rosie, wise up at the end (plus Rosie's anime incarnation is MUCH better than her game counterpart). VC2 took place in cadet school, so you knew with those mains not to expect too much.

VC4's mains however, with the exception of Leela, range from mildly annoying to straight up making me want to throw my joycons across the room.

Riley blames Claude for running away from the fire that killed her family... when they were literally both TWELVE. TF was Claude supposed to do?! Apparently he's a coward for... *checks notes* behaving like how any 12 year old would in a deadly situation.

Raz should have gotten court marshaled a LONG time ago but he's able to get away with all this shit because he's besties with the commander. But apparently shit like this actually happens in the real military, so... points for accuracy?

The OG Kai is so obviously working with the Imps they may as well have hung a signboard over his head saying "I'M EVIL." I'm shocked that the writing team thought that they could fool us about why he deserted when even a five year old can figure out why.

Claude gets blamed for literally every fucking thing but you can't even feel too bad for him because of how much of a Gary Stu he is. Characters can be shit talking him to his face and our uwu golden boi just takes it in stride and gets promoted just for breathing. Even Welkin had moments where his emotions got the best of him and had to LEARN shit throughout the story. Claude gets NONE of that.

Even the VILLAINS are less interesting this time around. The only one we have seen so far is a cheap copy of General Jaeger. In VC1 by this time, we already saw the main villains, but it's Chapter 7 and they still haven't shown up.

But the worst character of all, and the one who prompted me to make this post, is Minerva. At first, she just hated Claude for petty middle school BS reasons, and I hoped to GOD she would get some character development.

But the moment she blamed Claude for her girlfriend's death was the point when she crossed over from "annoying bitch" territory to "joycons flying across the room" territory.

My dude, my guy, YOU sent him on that mission. YOU gave the go-ahead for him to ambush a supply base. And you fault him for not being at his post when your squad got decimated... when you TOLD him to do so?! And why do I have the feeling that if your pwecious cwystal made it out unscathed, no fucks would be given from you?

Your pretty speech about how you want to set aside your pride and fight with Squad E means JACK SHIT if you continue to blame Claude when he was JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS. As though he wasn't fighting, as though he was just sitting around having tea while tanks were crushing you. I know it's still early in the game, but I have ZERO hopes for you if you continue to be this bad.

Congratulations, Minerva. You just dethroned Maxie for worst character in the VC universe. I hope you're happy.

Peregrine launch sees US on way to the Moon after five decades

The first US Moon landing mission in 52 years is on its way after Astrobotic’s Peregrine Mission One (PM1) lifted off this morning from Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida atop a ULA Vulcan rocket at 2:18 am EST.

Under cloudy skies, the launch of PM1 took place without major delays or incidents. At one minute 16 seconds into the flight, the Vulcan/Centaur launcher reached maximum dynamic pressure. Reaching the one-minute-50-second mark, the solid rocket boosters separated from the Vulcan core stage. At the four-minute-59 second mark, the two first stage liquid fuel engines shut down, with stage separation following six seconds later.

The second stage then ignited and burned for two additional engine burns. After the Centaur stage shut down, the Peregrine spacecraft separated at 50 minutes into the flight.

The Centaur stage then fired again, sending it into a heliocentric orbit where it deployed the Celestis Memorial Spaceflight’s "Enterprise Flight" payload, which carries the cremated remains or DNA of a number of celebrities, including Gene and Majel Roddenberry, Nichelle Nichols, DeForest Kelley, and James Doohan. Peregrine also has the remains or DNA of 66 other individuals as part of the Celestis "Tranquility Flight" to the lunar surface.

As the Peregrine lander's systems powered up, contact was established with Astrobotic’s Mission Control Center, which will oversee operations from now on as Peregrine embarks on its 17-to-19-day cruise phase to lunar orbit during which it will orbit the Earth once before inserting into a lunar transfer orbit.

On reaching lunar orbit, Peregrine will carry out a series of orbital maneuvers to bring it closer to the lunar surface for up to 39 days until it gets the green light to land sometime in February 2024 at Sinus Viscositatis next to the Gruithuisen Domes on the northeast border of Oceanus Procellarum. This is an area of particular interest to geologists and it is hoped that the domes, which were formed out of granite-like substances, may shed light on the presence of water under the lunar surface or trapped in minerals.

Also onboard Peregrine are 20 payloads. Five of these are NASA experiments sent as part of the Artemis program and 15 more from international organizations. One of these is the Iris Lunar Rover built by Carnegie Mellon University. This means the PM1 is not only the first US lunar landing mission in over half a century and the first using a privately owned and operated spacecraft, it is also the first American mission to carry a lunar robotic rover.
