I like following blogs diametrically opposed to one another so I can see both takes. Intermixed with nonsense and beloved mutuals.
its good to have dashboard biodiversity by following people who have opinions you disagree with but otherwise enjoy as a friend or at least a presence

Hello! Can I ask how the Vox Machina would react to a female muslim reader who wears the hijab? Even her as their S/O if you feel comfortable. English is not my first language so please excuse any mistakes. I love your writing!
Oh of course! 😄
a/n - I myself am not Muslim nor wear the hijab so I am open to any and all feedback

So for starters, I can see you hailing from the areas of Marquet and/or Ank’harel. Exandria is vast and diverse in its cultures, and they are not one to judge for differences.
Given most of their vices, you become a better influence for the group. Seeing you take time not to indulge so much rubs off more than they would admit.
Even when the worst of your most vicious enemies are rid of, seeing you perform dua does strike at them, especially Percy. He wishes he could have met you during the worst years when he was away from Whitestone.
Will always go out of their way to accommodate to dietary needs for you, even going alcohol-free
Of course you always have to look your best darling! The most beautiful fabrics for your hijab and a kaftan
Vex hears you pray and it reminds her of the guiding light that was her mother. A reassuring she needs when self-doubt creeps. Vax hears and sees you and he feels safe, calm and accepting of his future with the Raven Queen. He’s glad there’s another he can share his sentiments and feelings with.
Pike and Keyleth have grappled with their doubts and insecurities with following the Everlight and the Aramente trials before but you’re a reminder to them they can take that time for themselves. Keeping to what they believe and follow will be there, but to live a life and enjoy what has always been in front of them.
Grog has his fair share of philosophical questions here and there, which he is glad you make the time to answer. It’s refreshing that someone listens to what he has to say.
At the rooms you each have at Whitestone, Percy caters to your tastes and decorates your rooms to your liking. Whatever it takes to remind you of home.
If you’re good at textiles and artwork, then calligraphy has a soft spot in their armor and along their clothes designs .
Also, it becomes a rotation of each party member to come into your rooms to learn more of your language. It feels like an intrusion to hear you and your s/o speak privately to each other only in a dialect you both know.
Sometimes they’ll hear you singing, asking what those songs mean and if you could teach them. Mostly Scanlan just likes to pretend he’s learning because it’s an excuse to hear you sing, giving him courage to come to terms with his daughter.
And of course, the affectionate nicknames for each other! Say habibi and they turn redder than a tomato
Your relationship and dynamics can pretty much be summed up in the words of Nizar Qabbani:
Not everything in the heart can be said, so God created sighs, tears, long sleep, cold smile and shivering hands.
I throw my passport in the sea, And name you my country, I throw all of my dictionaries in the fire, and name you my language

okay i'm a few hours out and while i can feel it working, the shot itself was literally so painless i barely noticed it was in and then done. my arm only hurts if i extend it over my head or press on the injection area. i feel a vague congestion but.... this is literally nothing compared to the other Pfizer shots i've taken (and i've been getting them since the first version was available to the general public)
i couldn't find shit about it being available on the online pharmacy website so you may have to call the pharmacy and speak to an actual person. this was easier than expected so overall? i'd recommend just getting it done and then moving on. worst i feel rn after eating a big tonkatsu bowl and some sushi is a vague headcold feeling. i'm more affected by/tired from the massive piles of paperwork and research i've been doing lol
hmmm. i should probably call my local pharmacy and see if they have the most up 2 date COVID vax. considering those weird statements about "reviewing" if vaccines "work"

Syldor was dead. And that was for the better. At least that's what Vex told herself as she folds the freshly ironed black blouse and leather trousers into the small suitcase next to the sleek black heels with the wine soles. With the zips pulled tight, the bag is left on the ground and she felt ready for the journey. With the key in her apartment door, it dawned on Vex how she would have to mourn or pretend to mourn her father in front of not only his new family but quite possibly the entirety of the town she lived in (but was never from). Turning back inside for the last time before leaving she walked back in and straight to the bedroom.
Looking into the wardrobe at the several jackets and overcoats she’d amassed over the years since leaving her own home and then her father’s house, her hand reached for the mid-length navy overcoat with the large silver buttons almost instinctively and as she pulled it from the hanger and threw the heavy suede over finely muscled shoulders, she felt safer, silly as it was. Trying to rationalise her new addition to the outfit Vex reminded herself of how funeral attire was always quite dull, too dull even, black on black with possibly even more black on top? Definitely more her brother’s style, the sprinkling of the dark blue would let her make it her own.
Out the door once more, and for good this time. Vex locked the door and sent a quick text to Taryon to thank him once more for taking Trinket on such short notice as her taxi pulled up to take her to the airport.
Stepping out of the humid air through rotating doors and into the tiled floors and airconditioning of Lyrengorn airport, the small departures wing was empty bar the few staff for various airlines making idle chit-chat amongst themselves behind the check-in desks. After lifting her bag to be weighed at one of the desks Vex began to tune out the short woman behind the counter as she babbled on to herself until she asked, “Can I see your passport?” The blue haired woman looked goofy as she held the passport up to compare the printed face to Vex’s in front of her, “And do you have anything sharp or dangerous in your luggage?” She continued as her head tilted to one side.
“No, nothing of the sort.”
“Okie dokie! Well, that means you're all set and you'll see your bags over in Syngorn! Enjoy your flight!” the bubbly tone not failing once, Vex begins to suspect that the woman is just that enthusiastic and it doesn’t do anything to help her already sour enough mood.
Vex continued through security, without a hitch but not without wounding at least four members of staff with glares to kill as she was subjected to secondary and tertiary checks, reaching the lounge with its deceptively comfortable seats and free Wi-Fi was as good as any reward, even if the bar wasn’t open yet and the overpriced coffee was watered down mud. Thankful to not have any human interaction for at least half an hour, Vex slid down into one of the empty benches next to the lone gate pulling out her phone, rereading the list Vax had sent of preparations that needed to be done between them. It wasn’t a short list.
Boarding the plane, having put her carry-on in the bin above her head, Vex’s phone buzzed in her hand.
‘stubby!! orget what i said before. need you to lift flowers from the florist on bakar street nezt to the blown out temple?? think thats all ill text you if theres anything else’
She sighed at the complete lack of consistent English on her brother’s part but took a mental note of his request and settled in for her early morning flight.
The cold vastness of the mountains and tundra pelted the passenger plane with thick white chunks of snow and tumbling wind. Large lone trees jutt out of the sheets of white, a train pushing along a track shoves its way through the hardened slush that's formed on the metal of the tracks from a previous journey, Vex watches as the little metal worm grows littler and littler before it’s completely engulfed by frost and snow. Everything becomes smaller until the plane is above the clouds where it continues to fly as the sun paints the tops of the cloud shelf with rosy pinks and soft twilight purples. Landing comes sooner than expected as Syngorn grows in the distance, the fielded and forested surroundings giving way to large roads and homes, and as the plane lands Vex wakes up. She discovers that she had slept the whole flight.
Stepping into the terminal and collecting her bags, Vex’s phone buzzes in her pocket as a message came through from Vax, ‘sorry freddie isnt there to pick u up had to send him to pick some stuff up theres a bus into town and ill pick u up on my way home’. Sending back a quick ‘No problem, see you soon,’ with huff and a puff, Vex gathers herself and makes her way out the front of Syngorn’s arrivals gate, suitcase wheels clattering behind her and a bus pulling out of the station just as she gets there, Vex subjects herself to more people watching. One couple, a blonde woman with a designer handbag being followed by a short woman with dark blonde hair built like an ox carting a suitcase in one hand and a duffel over the opposite shoulder, Vex watches as they head into departures. A lone woman, with short dark hair and deep olive skin, leaves the doors of arrivals and heads towards a tall woman and small child, she catches the child as he runs and jumps all the while the tall one smiles, laughing lightly. Vex watches, taking it all in while absorbing nothing. The next bus arrives.
Passing through the suburbs and past the lovely little houses with their white picket fences and tree swings, memories flood back to Vex from the unpleasant to joyous (few and far between as they were), and Vex’ahlia loses herself in her memories as the wheels trundle on further into town. The little homes give way to terraced homes and blocks of apartments, shops, and boutiques, and eventually, the main square of Syngorn, and the clunky chunk of metal pulls up to a bus stop in the middle of town. Vex hops off. Suitcase clacking behind her on the old cobblestone that makes up the footpaths Vex looks at the address Vax had pinned for her in their texts. ‘Get Clover It - Florists and Bake Shop (14 Main Square, Emerald Citadel, Syngorn)’ Awful puns for names, she was really looking forward to this now. Sarcasm drips off the little voice in her head as she reads the message, but she picks up the pace as she heads further into the cobbled square. Vex passes a cobbler, that’s new. A bakery, that was there before. A coffee shop, that's new. A tailor’s, that’s new too. It may have changed a bit but she was still in Syngorn and even acknowledging that she is here, is enough to send shivers down her spine.
Her heeled boots halt their clacking outside a quaint little shop, soft pinks and light minty greens decorate the exterior of the building. The large front windows illuminate the inside as Vex steps into the interior pushing the glass door as the tinkling of a bell came from above her head. A perfume of many different flowers assaults Vex’s nose from one side of the shop, while the other side of the shop attacks with the aroma of fresh bread and buns. If the smell didn’t knock her off her feet, the six-foot-tall vase being hauled around the shop certainly did. Both Vex and the tall redhead who was carrying the vase tumble to the ground, the circular forest green rug breaks the fall slightly as Vex’s suitcase goes wheeling off on its own as does the large vase.
Rushing to her feet, the red-haired woman is muttering to herself and Vex is left struggling to hear what the other woman says as she is pulled to her feet.
“Oh, gods. I’m sorry, uh- are you hurt- Wait! Pike!”
Shouting from the back Vex hears, “YEAH? WHAT’S UP?”
“Help!”
“What’s wrong?” A short woman with stark white hair, ‘Pike’ Vex assumes, pops her head out from behind the door into the back, “Okay, okay, okay… Gimme a second!” And she disappears again.
The apologies then flow like a river rapid once more from the tall woman’s mouth as Vex gets her first good look at the woman. She’s tall, not freakishly but her thin lithe frame does nothing but help to exaggerate her height, her face is sharp but pleasant with high cheekbones, a long nose, and a smattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose and cheeks. Long, bright ginger hair falls down her back and is kept from her face with a cloth hair band with sunflowers on it. She’s gorgeous. Not hot or sexy, like all of the one-night stands and sneaky links Vex has had over the years but in a natural unassumingly, and delicately pretty way. Pike reappears bringing Vex's train of thought to a screeching halt as the bobbing of a head and a dustpan and broom dance around her. As the short woman sweeps the flour that comes off the robin egg blue apron is left floating in the air, tiny speckles that Vex tries to avoid as best as she can.
“Anyways, I am so so sorry. What can I help you with? I’m Keyleth by the way.”
“Vex’ahlia… Vessar? I’m here to pick up some arrangements for a funeral?”
Keyleth’s face instantly dropped. She begins checking through the book behind the counter, flicking through the thick log.
“I’m so sorry, was he something to you?”
“My Father.”
“I’m sorry for your loss-” She is cut off.
“It’s no loss, of that I can assure you, darling.”
“Oh! Well… There are a few lilies we’re still waiting to get in for the main grave arrangement, but I can get them delivered to you tomorrow or you could pick them up, I’ll be here from about six. And you can take the smaller arrangements today? The wreaths are all ready and I have them in a box up the back.”
“Wonderful.” Vex shouted to her as she headed into the back, trying to figure out what would be the best course of action for the following day, never even minding the chaos it could throw the plans for the funeral as a whole into. “Well, darling, I’ll see you tomorrow then?” With the flick of a braid and a twirl of a leather jacket she exited.
“Bright and early!” The flash of red from behind the curtain separating the front and back of the store called out before realising the pretty woman had left with the lazy tinkling of the bell over the door.
Keyleth turned back towards the short woman sat criss-crossed on the top of the counter tying a variety of ribbons in pastel colours to a dozen boxes with cute miniature sourdough loaves and pastries, about halfway through the first bundle.
“So,” Pike smiled a half smirk as she elongated the ‘o’ sound, teasing the blush even further up the long neck of her friend, “the tall drink of water got you flustered or something?"
“Yeah… something like that. Who’s on delivery duty tomorrow?”

I used to be so insanely left wing- literally the exact caricature of the anti-gun, anti-private-property nutcases that infest Reddit comment sections. Keep in mind, I was a teenager.
Reading the Hunger Games horrified me. It was one of the catalysts of my political shift to conservatism (as cringy as that sounds). I did NOT want to live in that world, and I began railing against policies leading to that end.
Now I'm scratching my head because so many of the same crowd who, like me, used to cream their jeans over the idea of being a rebel against "the system" like Katniss literally spent the past two years begging the government to instate vax passports, checkpoints, and to suppress an entire half of the country THE MOMENT things got a little scary and they actually had their opportunity to fight "the man". Where the hell did the disconnect happen?!
This was inspired by the spotify playlist you posted earlier.
We all come to our beliefs differently. As long as you're not just lifting what you think directly from a book and actually thinking about your ideas and ideals, it's not cringy at all.
Congratulations on getting out of that left wing mindset though. It's not easy, especially these days, to break away from that when it seems like everyone else will be against you if you do. And you're right, a lot of people who always saw themselves as "fighting the system" stanned "the system" super fast the moment covid hit or "their guy" got into the White House. It's insane, but that's one of the problems with living in a fantasy world. It makes it easy to jump into a different fantasy when you're scared. "I'll fight for what's right like Katniss/Harry/Percy/Sam and Dean/Sherlock/etc" is a great fantasy, and so is "the government is filled with good people who are looking out for me and I can trust them to protect me".
But none of those fantasies are true.
The only truth is that we need to defend our rights every day. And it's hard. And sometimes it sucks. But burying our heads in the sand and fantasizing about a better world magically appearing isn't going to do anything to help us, or anyone else. It seems like you realized that a lot earlier than most, so you're already ahead of the game.

Packing: Self-Supported + Hotel Tour
(part 2 of 5) I'm gradually going through past trip notebooks and random Google Docs and jotting down all my packing lists in one place.
For a week-long ride like Berlin->Copenhagen which is self-contained but involves staying in hotels every night and is not far from civilization, I pack fairly light, since I have to carry everything on the bike and don’t have to carry camping gear or significant food or bike repair tools. This type of trip often involves a few days after the riding in a city, so I want clothing I feel comfortable walking around or going out to a restaurant in.
Tumblr media
A good list for me for what I can fit in two small panniers (in addition to the tools / accessories / etc already on the “always on the bike” list):
Clothes:
(2x) padded bike shorts, to wash alternate pairs in hotel sink each night (3x is more convenient in case one doesn't dry in time)
(2x) quick-dry boxers (also to wash in sink)
(6x) socks
(2x) wool t-shirts to bike + walk in (assuming moderate climate)
(1x) long shorts (to wear over padded shorts, with pockets)
(1x) basic sleeping t-shirt
light gym shorts (to change into immediately at end of ride to “let everything breathe”)
small pack towel, mostly for impromptu swimming stops (since hotels will have towels)
bathing suit (redundant a bit w/ gym shorts)
flip flops
bike cap
rain shell / windbreaker
jeans (wore on plane, then packed away and saved to dress more presentably in the evening or on "city days")
one light + fast-drying long-sleeve shirt
one warmer button-up shirt (worn onto plane, then does dual duty as warmth or "looking more presentable in restaurant")
I just ride in regular shoes that are good for walking as well
Electronics + Paper:
outlet adapter
phone charger + cable
bike computer + microUSB cable
front and rear lights (also microUSB rechargeable)
noise-canceling headphones (a luxury, helps with sleeping on international flight, may skip next time)
larger USB battery pack (enough to recharge everything overnight in case of a hotel without enough working outlets for me + travel partner)
notebook and two pens (having your own pen is frequently useful at border crossings)
kindle or paper book
phrasebook
passport / ID / vax certificates / etc depending on trip
Other:
panniers (ideally with external pockets or ability to ride open-top to hold bulkier items like bottle of olive oil / wine / beer, loaf of bread, etc)
dopp kit
several days of my favorite pick-me-up snacks
safety pins (quick garment repair + clean out debris in phone port), duct tape, zip ties
map
masks
a few Covid rapid tests
earplugs
extra ziplock bags
two trash bags (for double-bagging possessions in panniers in heavy rain)
backup pair of glasses
Sometimes I add:
waterproof pants and shoe covers (useful in rain, but I also find they get sweaty easily, and in the heaviest rain I find water still finds a way in after a few hours, and they take up a lot of space). A blog reader suggested looking up "Rain Legs"
full-finger gloves for cold days
other warm clothing as needed, though I find I rarely want legwarmers or other base layers beyond the above
instant coffee / a few teabags, in case of a very basic hotel or airBNB that doesn't provide them or has late breakfast hours
bug repellent
Looking back this seems like a long list, but this all (barely) fit in the two small panniers above, and those panniers fit in the small tote bag below that I used to carry or check them as "one item":

me and ana are attempting to get our boosters again tomorrow, third time lucky? fucks sake :/ (ben already got his + then tested positive on the same day lmao)
ana very worried about it bc they have the bad luck to know a woman who has the even worse luck to have been severely vax injured by her first covid vax + said woman uses ana as an emotional dumping ground and also a dumping ground for like misinterpretations of vax studies etc. i do have SOME measure of sympathy for her bc her life has never been the same since she got vax injured but she's making ana like so terrified of the vax which is not ideal + also she's just deeply deeply unpleasant + emotionally toxic anyway + my deepest wish is that ana just cuts her off at some point. (i believe this woman says the same about me fwiw? ana says she's intensely jealous she got replaced as ana's best friend. this woman is like 32 + when they lived together briefly it was awful)
me and ben are going to see my parents next weekend but luckily my mum's friend owns an airbnb + is giving us mates rates to rent it out for the weekend. am thinking i might reach out to a few old friends while we're there bc it would be nice to properly catch up before the wedding bc we haven't seen each other in a few years + we probably wont have much time on wed day
i have a lot of feelings about my body atm but i cba to write it out bc i need to be in bed soon to be well rested for my VAX
shipping off my passport tmr to renew it so i actually have some form of ID. my passport expired in 2019 so ive actually been raw dogging life since then w/ no form of ID at all. it's usually fine but i cant get married w/o this lol
site i work for has budgeted some money for me to redo the entire merch portion of the site - i will try and push them on this soon bc my crrent contract comes to an end in march + as usual idk if they'll rehire me
ben has strongarmed me into agreeing to go on a date w/ him, what, are we 12? smh

Rabies are so scary! I’ve read a very interesting but also very upsetting book from a German animal coroner who wrote about cases he had and the general shit he witnessed in his job and one story will never leave me again.
An older couple found a puppy while on vacation and decided to keep it.
So far nothing bad, I would take in a stray puppy, too.
But instead of taking it to a vet first and get it examined they faked the vaccine passport and took it home. Also no quarantine for the puppy.
After a while the friendly puppy changed.
It bit people and other dogs and seemed to get sicker by the day
Finally they gave in and took it to a vet.
It took really a long time until someone figured it could possibly be rabies.
After the owners admitted, the faked the vaccine passport.
The puppy had to be put down and examined.
It was rabies.
The aftermath was that everyone who ever came in contact with the puppy had to get emergency vaccines and the vet had to go through the neighborhood of the couple, accompanied by the police and talk to every other dog or cat owner who might had contact with the puppy. They checked the passport for rabies vaccines and if the dog/cat in question wasn’t vaxxed, they had to take the animals and put them down because they couldn’t risk it.
Imagine one day someone knocks on your door and just takes your pet away to be killed because of the stupid decision a couple in your neighborhood made.
This has haunted me since ever.
Vaccinate your pets. Always. Anyways.
I mean the odds of something like this are fairly small, I guess…but I bet that what the couple also thought when they took this puppy with them.
"I've decided not to vaccinate my animals. Think about it, how often do you see a rabid dog?"
Yes Heather think about it. Think about how few rabid dogs you see in your comfortable western country with easy access to vet care. Think about why it might be that you've never seen a rabid dog. Really dig deep here you absolute fucking fool.

First, globalist Technocrats launched Covid plus “safe and effective” mRNA shots: thanks to some modicum of Free Speech, they failed to take total control. Now, it is crystal clear that Free Speech is on the chopping block. In January 2024, I pointedly said that Free Speech would be dead by the end of the year. Its soon and coming demise is on track.
Why Free Speech? Because that was the only thing that scuttled Technocrat’s planned takeover in 2020. They underestimated the power of Free Speech, and they won’t make the same mistake twice. This is why you hear a constant diatribe about killing “misinformation,” ‘disinformation,” and “malinformation” at every globalist meeting.
First, there is the incessant talk. Second, there is the setup (AI algorithms are lined up and tested). Third, they take aim (algorithms are locked and loaded). Then, the firing squad fires (algorithms cut loose).
My friends, if these megalomanic tyrants succeed in killing Free Speech, Technocracy will have won for good. If history is any guide, that’s when the killing will begin. ⁃ Patrick Wood, TN Editor.
Remember the last time the globalists took the mask off?  It wasn’t that long ago, but some people might have already forgotten how the Western world almost lost all individual freedom under the guise of an over-hyped health emergency.  When globalists are honest about what they truly want, it usually coincides with an engineered calamity.
In the two years since the failure of the covid pandemic narrative, I have argued that globalist organizations are trying to regroup under a new plan. The evidence suggests that these people suffered a shocking revelation after their attempt to implement perpetual medical tyranny. They’ve realized they don’t have as much control over the flow of information and public discourse as they originally assumed.
Even with full-spectrum censorship using algorithms to bury contrary data, even with the full force of the government partnering with social media to silence dissent, even with the threat of economic exile for anyone refusing to take a steady series of mRNA jabs, they still failed. The truth about covid’s minimal Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) still spread, along with data proving the uselessness of the mandates and lockdowns.  There was nothing they could do about it.
Their golden ticket to total control was pushing the vaccine passport concept; the alternative media crushed that agenda like a pestilent cockroach. If the passport had been successful we would not be having this conversation now. Everyone would be in fear of having their passport rescinded. Everyone would be afraid to lose their economic access for saying the wrong thing. Everyone would be afraid of being forced into covid camps (which were indeed a real agenda). Or, we would be in the middle of a bloody civil war.
The events of 2020 were meant to initiate the ultimate coup against humanity. The globalists admitted to their plans over and over again. Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum proudly declared covid the catalyst for the “Great Reset” and the “Fourth Industrial Revolution.” They asserted that the lockdowns were just the beginning and that the sweeping restriction on our freedoms would be extended to climate change as well.
They thought they had won without firing a shot, but it’s not that easy. Far more people are awake and aware of their motives than they realized, and, at least in America, over 50 million of those people are armed.  The lockdowns are now gone, almost no one took the vax boosters, far fewer people took the vaccine than the CDC claims, and the vax passports were defeated. This victory was made possible due to the efforts of alternative media platforms circumventing Big Tech censorship. It’s that simple.
This is why the next event will probably be far worse in scale and consequence, and the globalists are already attempting to rectify their previous mistake of underestimating citizen journalism. They will try to silence us if they can and they are openly admitting to it in recent conferences and mainstream articles.  The mask is coming off once more and this suggests to me that something very bad is about to happen.
As I noted in 2023 in my article ‘From Covid To Climate Change: Vehicles For Global Authoritarianism’, the globalists seem to have shifted their more tyrannical efforts away from the pandemic and into the climate discourse. If you really want to know what they are up to these days, you have to watch the climate conferences.
At the end of September there was a host of climate change summits including one held by the WEF in New York called the Sustainable Development Impact Meeting.  It was held by the WEF in tandem with the United Nations General Assembly. Not surprisingly, discussion often veered away from climate into “threats to democracy” as well as bitter complaints about the “spread of disinformation.”
