I was Listening to music and playing HZD and then something hit me, Something sad. All of history was destroyed, Little to nothing was saved. Thanks to Faro. These people in the world will never know what we know. Everything is gone and it's not coming back.
They will never know the struggle for the land they live on, They will never know George Washington, The revolution, The civil war. They'll never know that humans have already been through the stage of civilization they're at, Hell they'll never know how old humans really are. They'll never know of Religion (As we know it), They'll never know of the heroes that saved the human species.
Let alone they'll never hear our music, Read our literature, Watch our media. if they were too it'd be hundreds of years of context to explain. They will never know the likes of Bach, Mozart. They won't know Shakespeare, Macbeth, Beuwolf. Literature we spent years holding precious. Gone. Music we hold dear. Gone. Places. Historical landmarks. Records. Gone. Nothing left

Okay so, this lady
Tumblr media
She can be found in Meridian in the Temple of the Sun, being one of the pilgrims that Namaan is helping (and that we're helping, actually). She's an Utaru that has been a captive during Red Raids but survived and now returns to Meridian to honour a friend who did not.
I think it's neat how GG didn't change her appearance in remaster to match the Utaru design we know from HFW. Because right now you can see how that concept has evolved - she's dressed in clothes that are "grassy" and woven, but both the headdress and the paint is more Tenakth than Utaru.
Can't wait to find that Tenakth warrior that I recall is in one of the jungle sidequests to compare her designs with HFW ones!

The Second Verse
I loved doing this quest chain but i was not expecting the beautiful sight of the Utaru standing near the Land Gods with concern and reverence, and hearing the Plowhorns "sing"~

I walked around slowly for a while just taking in the feeling of harmony and listening to the machines and people sing together.

This quest chain was so beautiful it literally made me cry. I love the idea that the Utaru had such a harmonious relationship with the Plowhorns, with the incorporation of colorful ritualistic handprints of reverence in celebration of renewal. This might have been the most heart fulfilling quest for me.

Plainsong
I love this place. Building their main settlement on abandonded satellite dishes was a stroke of genius on the part of the Utaru, their home is far above the ground giving them safety from most of the machines & the other clans, not to mention the wide field of view they have which makes any surprise attack nearly impossible.
Despite the structure on which it is build, Plainsong seems entirely organic. From it's walkways, buildings & houses, the Utaru seemed to have built around the ancient structures & the tree & plant life that has sprung up using the natural resources of wood, grass & vines. The clan itself reveres nature & this is reflected in their dress & metaphors. Utaru wear grass or palm coverings on their lower half paired with hemp like garments on their torso. Their hats remind me strongly of those used by medieval japanese archers. I absolutely love the Utaru custom of giving seed pouches at birth & planting those seeds upon the persons death. A physical reminder of the person lives on while contributing to the clan & nature. I think that is beautiful.
