Utahraptor ostrommaysi
Headshot of a WIP. An in-progress attempt at some kind of realism.

Utahraptor ostrommaysi was one of the largest species of dromaeosaurids (more commonly known as raptors) ever found. It lived in the Early Cretacous, roughly 139 to 134.5 million years ago.
This relative of Deinonychus and Velociraptor is estimated to have topped out at about 20 feet in length and around 770 pounds in weight, giving it roughly equivalent dimensions to those of a Polar Bear.
Like all members of its group, it sported a wicked sickle-like claw on the second toe, which measured almost 10 inches long.
There is evidence of group socialization, likely in family units or packs, though it is unclear if they hunted together or merely participated in group feedings on larger prey items.

Paleo-Profiles: Peloroplites cedromontanus and Utahraptor ostrommaysi
Impressions of two different dinosaurs, one orntihischian and one saurischian, that lived in two separate members of eastern Utah’s Cedar Mountain Formation, which spans much of the Early Cretaceous in a period lasting from 140 to 94 million years ago; Peloroplities cedrimontanus from the uppermost 104-93 mya Mussenthuchit Memeber, and Utahraptor ostrommaysi from the much lower 139-134.6 mya Yellow Cat Member.
Peloroplities was one of the largest, bulkiest and heaviest nodosaurs of the Cenomanian-Turonian stages, a time when Eurasia and especially North America were witnessing a peak in Nodosaurid diversity. It grew up 6 meters long and 2 tonnes in weight, and was a contemporary of the smaller nodosaurs Animantarx and Cedarpelta and saurischians such as Abydosaurus, Moros and Siats.
A 5-7 meters long, 2 meters tall an kilograms in weight, Utahraptor was the largest and heaviest memeber of the dromaeosauridae, the iconic sickle-claws maniraptorans that would later include dinosaurs such as Deinonychus, Dromaeosaurus, Sauronitholestes and Velociraptor. Its heavily-robust build, large sickle claw, powerful leg muscles, and deep jaws were well-suited for ambushing and dispatching large prey animals such as the sauropod Cedarosaurus and the giant ornithopod Iguanacolossus, and as a solitary hunter it may have formed loose, mob-like groups of other Utahraptors to to tackle difficult-to-hunt prey in a similar fashion to modern crocodiles and Komodo dragons. This is demonstrated by the discovery of a 9-ton fossil block of limestone in 2001 that preserves a mob of several Utahraptors of varying ages that all died while trying to take on a single iguanodont that got stuck in a large pool of quicksand.

Found some of my paleoart from few years ago.
Utahraptor ostrommaysi | probably oversized
Amargasaurus cazaui.
Eotyrannus lengi.
Speculative Dimetrodon (sp.?)
| Edit: I also found these two |
Argentinosaurus huinculensis
Stenonychosaurus inequalis
There's something in me that wants to get back at drawing things like these, but at the same time I feel like school at the time completely quenched that for me.. To just later on being unable to even finish my vocational due to being kicked out for reasons I can't do anything to. Like thanks a lot for fucking nothing ig...
And it pains me, since paleontology was such a large special interest for me, but I feel like I have regressed in it quite a lot. Idk.. if I ever have the motivation to, I definitely would love to get back at it.

So giving them robo arms to hold their shit has been the best decision ever (info after imgs)
So im going absolutely feral about this AU, so in order to make sure they can still fight their war with guns i gave them robotic arms attached to the thingys on their armour.
Sim Troopers and regular soldiers have about what Church/Sarge wear, while Freelancers and special ops like Locus and Felix are closer to Tex. Hiding specific markings + making them more resilient.
Also please enjoy this height reference I've made (Locus gets honorary Red bc he deserves it). Some heights have been changed to be larger, in Lopez and Tex's case have been drastically changed as they are robots. Nerd stuff about who is what below.
Caboose [Ankylosaurus magniventris]
Church, Carolina, Tex [Utahraptor ostrommaysi]
Washington [Megalosaurus bucklandii]
Tucker [Allosaurus fragilis]
Doc [Kentrosaurus aethiopicus]
Donut [Deinonychus antirrhopus]
Grif, Kaikaina [Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai]
Simmons [Maiasaura peeblesorum]
Sarge [Daspletosaurus torosus]
Lopez [Nasutoceratops titusi]
Locus [Lythronax argestes]
Edit: I forgot Donut and Doc my sons I'm so sorry the bit has breached containment

Thoughts on this old art I made of Alfred as an Utahraptor ostrommaysi?
10/10 absolute masterpiece!
This fits him so well actually?😭 Love design on it, it’s very detailed with the wings and back being the color of his jacket

Note
They lived in what is now the western United States in the early Cretaceous (about 135 million years ago) and there's currently only one species Utahraptor ostrommaysi.
It was apparently an ambush predator as seen from the tappy tappy claw (it's actually called the killing claw but I like tappy tappy more) which is strange because most of the sub family from it's clade were pursuit predators!
They hunted Ankylosaurs most often though which is sad because I love Ankylosaurs :[ but as is the circle of life
Oooh!!!

At 7.0 meters (23 feet) long, about as tall as a horse and as heavy as a polar bear, Utahraptor ostrommaysi is the largest known dromaeosaur. It was heavily built with sharper than average foreclaws and strong legs, and likely the apex predator of early Cretaceous Utah. Due to its size and heft, it was probably an ambush predator: it would not have been as fast as its smaller relatives; but just fast enough to keep pace with iguanodonts Hippodraco and Cedrorestes.
In early 2000, a 9-ton block of sandstone was uncovered in eastern Utah. This block was determined to contain at least seven individual Utahraptors: an adult, four juveniles, and a hatchling, as well as at least one possible unidentified iguanodont. It’s speculated that the iguanodont had become mired in quicksand, and when the Utahraptors arrived to scavenge its remains (or finish it off) they became trapped as well. It’s unclear whether these raptors approached as a pack/family group or rather arrived one by one to investigate. Excavation of this fossil is apparently ongoing, but it is potentially a goldmine of information on Utahraptor behavior.

Dinofact #15
Originally, the species Utahraptor ostrommaysi was originally intended to be named U. speilbergi after movie director Steven Spielberg, in exchange for financial contributions to paleontology. However, no agreement could be made on how much he should contribute, so Utahraptor was named after John Ostrom and Chris Mays for their contributions in paleontology.
