I love this tidbit. It makes perfect sense. And it's even more perfect that it's specific to Garnet's fusions.

So. . . what's the deal with Obsidian and the fourth wall? or Alexandrite. . .

It would be really cool if it carried on up to multi-multi-fusions.

Insecure, Dependent, Obsessed

Those are actually pretty accurate descriptions of these three, but also, Steven didn't bring those characteristics out. Rose did. Steven helped them deal with those shortcomings and become more secure, more independent, and more self confident.

Amethyst was definitely insecure all the way up until Steven and she first formed Smoky Quartz. He's always worked to build her up and encouraged her to embrace her uniquities.

Garnet's dependency is something that was mostly hidden until Ruby and Sapphire were separated and Steven had to help each of them come to her own realization of her own identity allowing them to understand that separately they are awesome. Only then could they be independent together.

Pearl's obsession with Rose caused her to never truly see Rose's shortcomings. Of course, she was built to be obsessed with Rose by the Diamonds. . . but Steven helped her focus on herself and see that she didn't need the approval or constant feedback of an outside source to be perfect for herself.

While the Diamonds, then Pink, then Rose were all quite toxic to these Gems (unintentionally mostly), Steven has been the type of leader that breeds more leaders, not followers. And that's the type of leader we all need.

Looks like we're back to being one big happy family! Plus some!

The song was nice. I love how Steven can just impromptu add verses to a song. I wish I could do that.

It's an interesting concept. . . but um, it doesn't work for me.

I mean, if half of Steven's vision came from his Gem, wouldn't it mostly just show the red in his shirt?

Why does White Diamond look like her eyes are about to pop out?

Ending

So. . . that was an alright episode. Nothing to write home about. Just so-so. Not really my type of jam. Mostly adequate. Garden variety. Kinda forgettable, honestly. Maybe a 5 out of 10?

Okay, okay. It was slightly better than all that.

It was great! I love the music. I love the relationships. I loved seeing all the new fusions. I loved the White Diamond arc. . . which basically all took place in this one episode. I love that Yellow and Blue were so completely swayed by Steven's amazing arguments for policy updates.

I loved Connie.

I enjoyed Bismuth, Lapis, and especially Peridot in their very small but important parts.

I laughed, I teared up, I googled some stuff, I got angry, and I . . . didn't learn anything? hm. I feel like that last part's not right, but I can't think of what it might have been.

I learned to go to an adult if I'm being bullied and to not try to make my hands into suction cups at home.

So, easy 10 out of 10.

This wrapped up everything to be the end of the show so neatly. It's almost a shame to continue.

Except. . .

A zoo of humans somewhere out in space doing who knows what

Enemies such as Jasper who probably need further dealing with

The chest in Lion's mane

We still don't know where Gems originally came from. . .

Why is Homeworld cracked in half?

We still don't know what the hell Onion's deal is

Sugilite is still benched. Would they fit better together now that they've gone through all these changes or. . .

What happened to the hands on the temple?

And, most importantly, WHY DID THEY PUT THOSE CUPCAKES IN THOSE JARS?

Dang, I guess we'll have to keep watching. Hopefully all of these will be answered by the end of this. Especially that last one.

We've never seen Obsidian. How does she know it's Obsidian? Is this just her future vision? Or do all the Gems know what they are capable of fusing into?

Or they did it with Rose I guess as SonBot points out. . .
