Posting this oil painting again. Initials and date (188X) Close-up on the stone and wooden bridge are included. I liked a previous comment about this being by a Hudson River School artist. First Google stone bridges in the Catskills. The deep woods view is reminiscent of Asher Durand's work in the Catskills (not his of course). The signature is distinctive. This painter was very talented. The execution of the stonework is superb. We also know that he/she owned a dog. I ran across this today and it spoke to me. I listened. Anyone recognize this artist? Not a novice. There is some kind of signature and an 1880s date in lower right. Oil on canvas on Masonite - but with the original stretcher!
