It has received high praise, and I think this is the last night he is "playing" in Alpine. The time of the performance is 7:30 P. M. SHREK THE MUSICAL® today announces full casting for the major nationwide tour, with Amelia Lily joining the cast as ‘Princess Fiona’ from April 2018. As previously announced, Call the Midwife star Laura Main will also play ‘Princess Fiona’ at selected venues, sharing the role with Amelia while she continues filming on the current BBC series*. They will play opposite Steffan Harri who will lead the cast as beloved swamp-dwelling ogre ‘Shrek’ with Marcus Ayton as Shrek’s wisecracking sidekick ‘Donkey’ and Samuel Holmes as pint-sized villain ‘Lord Farquaad’. The hit musical will open at Edinburgh Playhouse for the festive season this year from 12 December, prior to touring the UK and Ireland throughout 2018.

Amelia Lily first rose to fame on The X Factor, finishing third on the eighth series in 2011. Her debut single ‘You Bring Me Joy’ reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. Theatre credits include playing the Narrator in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK Tour), Whatsername in the West End premiere of Green Day’s hit punk rock musical American Idiot (Arts Theatre & UK Tour) and Shout! (Winter Gardens Blackpool). Most recently Amelia was runner-up in the 2017 edition of Celebrity Big Brother.

Penelope looks up at him as he trots across the railing, a juvenile display of balance made all the more foolish by the fact if he made a single misstep he would be sent careening to his death off the Tower. And this man, experienced as he was, clearly had not died from a fall like that before. She sighs, but continues her questioning. "Some of the survivors-"

"Riftwalkers, Miss Penelope," he corrects, not tearing his eyes from where he next places his foot. "They are not survivors. They hail from the Rift, they have a heritage they claim."

She rolls her eyes. "Don't call me that," she growls out, and then takes a breath. "Some Riftwalkers," she corrects herself, teeth gritted, "claim you have a god out in the Rift. That isn't the Traveler. Is this true?"

"Ah!" he exclaims, a carefree smile flitting across his lips. "Lady Athena. Yes, she's sacred divinity itself. Beacon of cunning and survival, our good lady."

"What makes her a god?"

He shrugs. "To the mortals I suppose any Risen would be a god. But to me, she's a god because she answers us. She stands for something."

Penelope raises an eyebrow. "So this 'god' is just another Risen?"

He shakes his head. "She's not 'just another Risen'. She was the first. And she means something to us. Stands for survival and tenacity and the strength to endure."

Penelope rolls her eyes, sighing in annoyance. "So. Anything ancient and enduring is a god? A tree could be a god."

"Yggdrasill was a tree. And it is divine, if not a god," he answers.

"That's from the old world."

"So are most things. Our names, for example. Doesn't make them any less relevant."

Penelope grits her teeth, biting back a rude remark. "I-" she pauses to take a breath. "The Riftwalkers pointed me to you for answers about the culture of the Rift. Why do you have a god that isn't the Traveler? Why just some woman?"

Ulysses takes another step forward, wobbling but moving carefully along the railings. "Tell me, Miss Penelope," he answers her, "how many times have you cried out to the Traveler and been unanswered? Your god, all of this City's god, is silent, distant. It does not hear your prayers. But ours does. She is physical, stands before us, among us. Protects us with her very blood. It may seem foolish to a woman of logic like yourself, but Lady Athena is present. She is there, she fights on the frontlines, along with the rest of us. And she is stronger than any of us. There's divinity in that. In bravery. And more than that," he looks down at her, into her eyes, not looking where next he will put his foot on the rails. "We wanted- needed something to believe in. Athena filled that role. Gave us someone to rally around, to pray to. People need things to look to. Need hope. Athena is that hope to the Rift."

"I see," Penelope answers, looking away. "That's… a lot more insight than I expected from an backwater outlander warlord," she replies.

He blinks at her. "That's rather rude to say of a cultural group you're studying."

"I'm saying it about you, not the Rift," she responds before turning to address her Ghost. "Diane, did you get everything recorded?"

Ulysses rolls his eyes and hops off the railings, beginning to walk off. "Hope this helped you, Miss Penelope!" he calls over his shoulder.

"Don't call me that," she shouts after him.

He doesn't answer, just waving at her without turning around.

She huffs, annoyed. "Some professional," she grumbles, turning on her heel, Diane trailing after her.

Funniest shit to me is that one of my Guardians' actual life or death mortal enemies is an actual wizard. Like he lives in a tower and strikes people with lightning and generally just minds his business now and Ulysses wants him dead. Like sir you are THIRTY and you are BEEFING WITH A WIZARD.

Ulysses met his best friend, Polites Kildri while Kildri was actively seeking him out.

He refuses to let Minerva heal them, he needs the reminders of his failures. So they don't happen again. Everyone else notices the fact he dresses like a depressed 32 year old PhD student teaching at a high school for the third year in a row, even though he swore he'd do something with his life by now.
