What's Going On GM?!
Cadillac Pressroom
Chevys with their ugly lineup, the Escalades looking like coffins on wheels, Hummer trucks looking like shit, and now this fugly looking thing?
😂😂😂
Are all the decision makers over 60 and blind?
I wanted to like the Cadillac Celestiq, because there are some really cool styling elements going on, especially in the front, but put them all together it's an over designed mess. The worse part is the rear, it's just fuckin ugly!
Just yikes all around.

👀 I got the boys onesies in... nothing else 👀 maybe it WON'T all come in in one shipment 👀👀 there's hope...
It's gonna be so so bad when the Sharter's shit comes in bc rn ALL the baby/toddler shit has an out of season date of 9/15, which means that all that will need replaced. Which means that Sharter's is gonna be sending: playwear sets, blanket sleepers (god help me I hate these), probably some kind of onesies, and probably some other toddler set. ALL AT ONCE.
Rn the only things with OOS dates after 9/15 are halloween pjs (very cute, very much a pain in my fucking ass), new UGLY 2 piece sets, and that's it (: yay...
#marquilla#i was like OH???? when i came in and saw them sgdgdgdgdg i was like oh NOW you send me half my endcap??? NOW?? (well a quarter#really bc half is Baby Set which would be boys and girls#but semantics)#they're as ugly as always agdgdgdgdgdg the winter baby shit always is (except the really soft really cute fluffy cream colored toddler#hoodie + legging set that constantly sold out and was soo soft 😭 that was the only time i had pretty winter ones here#Sharter's: okay for girls i need at LEAST one ugly floral and one dated faux denim design. boys i need dinos. some kinda automotive/machine.#for the other variants i dont care but THOSE must be present in every line!!#ANYWAY the district manager was in yesterday and he said he was very happy with my area according to Bootleg FGM#🥰🥰🥰🥰 agdgdggd every time i hear that i wanna be like YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT. I DO A GOOD FUCKING JOB NOW GIVE ME ANOTHER RAISE!#i get a 2-3% annual raise but for my hard work i think they should give me a 5% raise on top of that bc im so niceies sgdddggdgdgdggg

Not really a fan of how many socialists like trains.
One of the things socialists like to do is designate things so only the government may have or use them, and make those the obligate and exclusive things that "Society" (Capital S) has to use, in lieu of any other alternative. Because it's a way to force control from a purely authoritarian sense to an indirect one with the false necessity of bureaucracy and effort.
They hate automobiles because it gives an individual "more say than the rest of society" (over their own personal lives and mobility/autonomy) and decided that one set schedule for transportation via railcar is somehow superior to any schedule by anybody at any time and anywhere, via road.
Please note that this post is not railing against trains, it's what socialists think trains should be used for, and why, in the absence of other options. And they feel similarly about busses and keep trying to sell the idea of replacing all the cars on the road with busses and public transportation.
When you take that personal choice out of the equation, the state and its agencies don't care what you have to say, they only care about the abstract idea of their jobs and the reality can go quietly die in a corner. And that's where freedom dies. Their entire basis for using trains can poison the policy and render it ineffectual for the job it has.
Trains are a very efficient way of transporting things over land across a very large distance. And while I absolutely agree we should have better passenger AND freight rail state-side, I despise the people that think it should be used as a bludgeoning weapon against personal automotive use and ownership, city or rural planning, or anything like that.
But that ugly penchant to try and, "kill two birds with one stone" and force communities and societies to commit to one decision specifically to fuck up opportunities for others is something that I just have to keep in mind, these days, because these people have such shitty, manipulative attitudes.

*sigh* oh to live in a world where american car manufacturers remembered that you could put more than 1 color on things...
oh to live in a world where american car manufacturers remembered that eggshell white looks good actually...
oh to live in a world where american car manufacturers are not going senile and forgetting all of the reasons why cars looked cool to begin with...
the post was originally going to end here but i just took my ADHD meds and i need you all to know that i live in a city where we have a yearly event to celebrate old cars that actually looked really good and everyone in this city fucking LOVES cool old cars and every now and again you can just see someone driving around the beachside roads on a vehicle straight out of a Guardians of the Galaxy flashback. cars used to look GOOD. this isn't a generational style thing, look at these.
even if this kind of car isn't your style i get that, but you can surely see that there is at least a vision here, there was a passion in the people who made them back then, cars weren't just churned out willy nilly to make the line go up.
well okay yeah they definitely were but there was still some art there. now i need to ask you. look at modern cars for a second and just let the mundane-ness of it all sit in for a while
ohhhh yeah can you feel it? have you soaked it in yet? all of those sanded down soulless smooth edges? all of those monocolor coats of paint? the fact that the only thing you can really tell is substantially different is the kind of wheel each car has if even that?
now i need to ask you, in 80 years do you think there are going to be any events to commemorate these kinds of cars? do you think anyone is going to take time out of their retirement to appreciate these wonders of modern technology enough to create a whole ass city-wide convention to show appreciation for any component of these cars except maybe some of the internal mechanics and engines???
now admittedly selection bias is a thing here, its not like these cars being celebrated in my city are the average car, those are Woodies, which are a very specific artistic style of car. so maybe we need to look at the average car from back then. lets see, the Woody style was started around the 30s, so what does the average car look like around the 30s?
well a quick little research says that the biggest automotive manufacturer around then was General Motors (or at least a very big one), and a quick little Wikipedia stroll shows their platforms from back then. Behold! i show you cars from back when people cared about design!
Oldsmobile Series 60
1930 GM Marquette
1940 Pontiac 'Deluxe' 6
I know that last one says Deluxe, but keep in mind that beauty only went for ~17k in 2023 dollars! So much cheaper than the Ford F-150! And you get more seats too! Sure the paint is probably leaded and so is the gas and so are the lights and so is the steering wheel probably and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if somehow the rubber was too, but god dammit it just looks good doesn't it? Don't they all? 2 of these 3 random samples I just learned about still have the monocolor stuff that I was complaining about but don't they just look better? It's not like this is a lost art, we can still build this today if we wanted, we could just put the modern engines and batteries and non-lead metals in it! That's what the people who drive restored versions of these cars do! Imagine how much easier it would be if you just built them that way and didn't need to take all of the lead and old broken down engines out in the first place!
"Ohhhhh but the aerodynamics!! What about the aerodynamics!! Modern cars are so much faster now because of their ugly shapes!!"
yeah dumbass and that's why you keep mulching kids whenever you tap the accelerator. my city has plenty of people who drive modern cars, you all could do with a lower speed capacity. it would be good for you in the same way that confiscating an addict's tobacco would be good for them. fucking chill.
besides if you're really worried about speed trust me, modern engines are wonders of science and engineering, i promise you that cars can still go zoom if we made the aerodynamics slightly worse in order to make them look better because the magic piston box that you pretend to know how it works while being carried by your 4-wheel drive will cover the cost. trust me.
"But cars in general are bad! We should be getting rid of all of them! Even cool looking cars can mulch kids too!"
yeah yeah sure, still ban them from city centers and stuff. i just got back from a 2 week long trip around all the best parts of europe and also paris so i agree with you there, but as much as it would warm my autistic heart we realistically cant have trains to take us everywhere and the genie is already out of the bottle. besides i dont care what you think cars are just cool. i can turn a wheel and push on a pedal with my foot and make a 2 ton hunk of steel and gadgets move at a speed to carry force surpassing that of a bullet, and if i turn really fast i can make tire doodles on public infrastructure to keep the rent low. plus road trips with friends are fun. look all im saying is that cars definitely aren't going anywhere, so we could at least have them look cool while they're here. to be honest i definitely agree that we should be phasing out cars as much as we can for long distance travel (TRAIN SWEEP WOOOOO CHOO CHOO) and everything but come on dude i dont want to look at my ugly ass streets and see them swarming with ugly ass cars. i want pretty ass cars. please? pretty please? my birthday is coming up soon wont you do it for me?
"Lower aerodynamics means that the fuel economy will be worse! People will need to use more fuel for the same distances! That's bad for my wallet and also the environment!"
putting aside the fact that aerodynamics really only become a major factor when you are going really really fast like on the freeway--a place where ideally you would rarely ever need to go on in favor of public transport taking you everywhere you'd want to go to at a price cheaper than your gas in the first place, i want to ask you something a little emotional here:
do you think that you would be better off if you saved maybe 1 or 2 dollars every trip to the gas station, or if when you were stuck driving all those long drives you were in a car that you could actually smile when thinking about, that you could watch other people look over and see children excitedly getting their parent's attention to show off the cool car driving past them, that you could have a car that looks good enough to actually wow people when you pull in for your 9-5 that is a 2 hour drive away from you for some reason, that after a long shift and a long drive you could come home, get out of your car, and have the first thing you see when you close the door be something that actually looks pretty instead of the same personalityless blob that everyone else drives? look, i get it, maybe your finances are super unstable and every penny counts, maybe this specific example isn't for you, but im willing to bet that once you get to a better off position you'd be pretty fine with the idea of sacrificing a few bucks for a whole load of warm and fuzzy feelings of pride and satisfaction. i sure as hell would. why the hell do we do this whole capitalism thing in the first place if we can't spend the money eventually to feel nice??
oh yeah also for the environment bit most of the impact against the environment isn't cars at all, it's energy production and other stuff, also most cars are switching to environmentally friendly alternatives now anyway sorryyyyyyyyy
look all i want is for when my time comes to get mulched against a bumper like nearly 1.2 thousand american children each year i dont want it to look like the edmunds.com best rated cars by price section
oh, yeah, also, if you willingly take off the sound muffler from your car or motorcycle your car should be confiscated by the government and you should be put in the jail for disturbing the peace. not because you did anything wrong, but purely for your own protection because i prefer small government solutions and neither me personally nor my local community do not have the infrastructure to solve the problems that you create in a way that would be favorable to you.

Steamboy Legoes
I think it just so happened Steamboy came in to my life right when Bionicles started to get bad, so around that time I made a lot of M.O.C.¹s based on the various machines from the film.
Since most of my legoes at that point were, in fact, Bionicles, I didn't have all that many parts to work with, so many of my builds were quite unorthodox. There's not going to be much S.N.O.T.², short for Studs Not On Top³, here. Also legoes aren't some holy relic that must be treasured above all else, so I cut, glued, and stuck paper on things as I saw fit⁴.
I also wasn't very good at taking photos that were in focus, so you've been warned.
Steam Automotive
This, being the first big crazy machine you see in the movie, it leaves a big impression. Its scene and music are also amazing so that helps.
I made this thing so many times. The gearing on the front wheels was always such a big thing for me, the fact that for it to move forward the larger gear had to rotate backwards was really eye opening for me at the time.
I was really quite inspired by seeing someone else's build of it, it was motorised and ran on tracks and had the monowheel on a rod in front of it. It was really cool, so much so that I'll forgive the fact that when the Steam Automotive was on the tracks it was in front of the mono wheel. I can't find it anymore, I swear there was more Steamboy stuff on Brickshelf at one point.
The way the machine has two drivers, a guy in the back in a more standard locomotive cab and then this guy in a tiny chair in front of the weird vertical second boiler/smoke box(?) with a head on it, its so interesting.
Honestly over this period the legoes I had was pretty consistent, but as I studied the reference materials I had closer and got a more complete idea of how everything went together my approaches changed a lot.
This was the last version I made, and probably the last M.O.C.¹ I made in general. It has a really different structure to the others, but some things have been retained. Sliding tires over 2x2 bricks and technic bushings to make tubes is a pretty good technique I think. Probably heretical in the church of lego purity though.
This model was kept together over my dark ages⁵, if you can call the period of time between when the legoes go in the attic to when they go on ebay that. I did think about keeping it, but there were too many parts from bigger sets in there, and I needed money to buy Rahi.
Note how by this point I'd just completely given up on miniature figures. They're just...so ugly lol, catering builds to fit those blocky awkward giants in was just not fun.
Most of the other builds are all one-offs after this point.
Steam Castle
Except this one. I tried a couple times to give it more texture, but it was hard at the scale. Not really notable at all. Basically only made it because I had enough black connectors to make a circle.
Return of the Steam Automotive
It happened again.
This was basically made right after I watched the movie from memory, so that's why all the colours are off. The gears still work!
And I took a second crack at it. its such a pleasing design.
Aero Corps.
Structure wise this one is really accurate lol, but trying to fit it with a miniature figure just doesn't' work. I was really happy with the custom wings.
Aqua Corps.
I was really happy with the arms. I bet its illegal, but who cares lol, it works. Never even tried to fit a man in this.
Blimp
This was the biggest thing I made, and thus suffered the most from my lack of parts. It should be noted that the bulk of this stuff was built at once, even though I never took a group shot.
I had one wright flyer set and that's where all the tan panels for the tiny fraction of the air sack came from, the curve was just some click hinges but the panels were so heavy they had to be held held up with strings.
The biggest problem was always things with multiple identical components. It was a stretch to make the 6 fingers of this crab thing even with such a simple construction.
Legged Tank and Steam Trooper
I love this tank that appears in like 3 shots and in 1 is getting blown up and in another is dead. Why didn't I use a minifig for the steam trooper? I hear you ask, well, the backpack was more important for me, and I couldn't have a breast plate and a backpack without a major headache.
The linkages don't really do anything productive, except make it hard to rebuild the boxor in 12 years. But they looked cool.
This one really benefitted from me getting the collector's edition of the movie that came with a booklet that featured some concept art and renders. You barely see this thing in the movie, and certainly not from the back.
Flying Machine
I call this one the "I saw someone make this on brickset using revolvers and it looked really good, but all I have are brown muskets because my lego collection is a couple pirate sets from before I was born, bionicles, and the wright flyer".
British Tank
This was the second version, the earlier one was too bad even for me.
I didn't have the stuff to make custom treads so instead I just used the giant chain from the wright flyer and faked the thickness lol. I think that's a pretty good Union Jack for being done freehand on a tiny flat tile with some not very fine tipped sharpies.
Yes the boiler was held together with rubber bands why wouldn't it be.
Say hello to Mr. "Everyone in this movie has a moustache because its 1866 but I only have one miniature figure head with a moustache".
I was quite taken with how the gun was a separate unit that could be detached.
Monocycle
Ray's a part of it, it can't stay together without him. Its all just wedged in there. I got some very used lego once that had some parts of an old police station from the 80s in it, and some of the pieces weren't even broken! So I managed to salvage the back half of a bike from there.
I also made Edward.
Since I didn't have any brown sharpies I just stuck on some paper coloured brown with a marker. At some point I found that the glue I was using to stick the papers on also could rub the prints off so that was cool, saved sanding. Very few miniature figures from my childhood remained.
And this concludes a short look at my dark past. If for some reason you want to see more, there's some more photos of the older ones can be found on this brickshelf.
youtube
I wrote a big post about Steamboy over here, if this didn't scare you away.
Notes ¹Short for "My Own Creation". ²Short for "Studs Not On Top"³. ³Often abbreviated as S.N.O.T.². ⁴If the sight of such things disturbs you please leave the post now. ⁵Fans of legoes liken the part of their life when they aren't buying legoes to a period of scientific and cultural stagnation.

Looking for High-quality Handrails? Buy Stainless Steel Supplies in Melbourne!
High-quality industrial steel supplies in Melbourne come with major benefits from a few reliable steel companies. These companies produce a broad range of steel supplies and products for the energy and power generation sector, the construction, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries.
For these reliable manufacturers, industries seek out a wide variety of industrial steel goods, such as stainless-steel handrail fittings, stainless steel sheets, plates, coils, tubes, angles, solid bars, pipes, fittings, and tube bends.
Advantages of Selecting Reputable Manufacturers:
Reputable suppliers use cutting-edge production processes and materials while upholding strict quality standards. They provide long-lasting, resistant-to-corrosion stainless steel goods that satisfy industry standards.
Reputable manufacturers offer specialised products that are designed to satisfy particular industry standards. This enables enterprises to increase productivity and streamline their procedures.
It can improve the aesthetic appeal of industrial stainless steel goods for use in interior design, architecture, or manufacturing processes. It also enables companies to satisfy the highest standards of craftsmanship and guarantee that clients receive the best products possible.
Additionally, they deliver watermarks on the surface of stainless steel objects that can effectively be removed with polishing consumables. With the correct polishing methods and supplies, businesses can remove ugly blemishes and keep their metal surfaces looking flawless.
How to Find Recognised Suppliers Locally?
Locating reputable local suppliers requires a calculated approach to guarantee dependability and high-quality output.
Businesses should identify possible providers with a solid reputation by conducting in-depth market research.
Customers need to consult with colleagues in the field or can visit regional trade exhibits, and investigate websites that display supplier testimonials.
Check the qualifications, licences, and adherence to industry norms of a provider. Have a direct conversation with them to determine how receptive they are and how eager they are to accommodate your particular needs.
Meanwhile, buy top-quality stainless steel supplies from reputable local suppliers, and grow trustworthiness and confidence in your business supply chain.

ProGold PG2000 is often designated for heavy industrial and automotive applications. This high-performance penetrating oil, now in cycling flavor, can liberate rusty, stuck, corroded, problematic, or just plain ugly components so you can clean, repair, or replace them.
