Empowering Women with Home Loans: An Intern's Perspective at Shubham Housing Finance
Becoming a homeowner is a big accomplishment that represents independence and security in terms of finances. Since many Indian financial institutions are aware of this, they have special house loan programmes designed just for women. These programmes offer a host of advantages aimed at facilitating and lowering the cost of home ownership for women.
In recent times, a deliberate endeavour has been made to encourage female homeownership in India. For women, having a secure and independent financial future is essential, and buying a home is a big step in that direction. Women are given particular advantages when it comes to home loans, which facilitate their ability to own real estate and enable them to make long-term financial investments.
Home loans have advantages for women that go beyond personal development. These financial solutions promote greater female homeownership, which advances social and economic advancement. Gender equality is advanced, women's financial stability is increased, and they participate more in the formal economy when they own property.
In addition, women's property ownership has a significant impact on their communities and families. Research indicates that women who possess property are inclined to make investments in their offspring's education and well-being, therefore creating a positive feedback loop of empowerment and prosperity that extends to subsequent generations.
Key Benefits of Home Loans for Women
Lower Interest Rates: One of the most attractive features of home loans for women is the lower interest rates. Many banks and financial institutions offer interest rates that are 0.05% to 0.25% lower for women borrowers. This reduction can lead to substantial savings over the loan tenure.
Higher Loan-to-Value (LTV) Ratio: Women borrowers are often eligible for a higher LTV ratio, meaning they can borrow a larger portion of the property’s value. This reduces the upfront cost and makes it easier to purchase a home.
Stamp Duty Concessions: Some states in India offer lower stamp duty charges for properties registered in a woman's name. This concession can significantly reduce the overall cost of purchasing a property.
Special Schemes and Subsidies: There are various schemes and subsidies available exclusively for women, such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). This scheme provides interest subsidies for first-time homebuyers, making home loans more affordable.
Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) also play a crucial role in providing home loans tailored for women. One notable NBFC is Shubham Housing Finance, which offers unique products designed to empower women borrowers. Their Shubh Udyogini Loans and Shubh Udhyogini Loans are special offerings aimed at supporting women in their homeownership journey. These loans come with competitive interest rates, flexible repayment options, and minimal documentation requirements. Additionally, Shubham Housing Finance provides personalized assistance to help women navigate the loan process efficiently. Other prominent NBFCs like Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Ltd., and Mahindra Finance also offer attractive home loan schemes for women, ensuring a variety of options to suit different needs and preferences.
Home loans for women in India are designed to empower female homebuyers by offering them attractive benefits and easier terms. These loans not only provide financial assistance but also pave the way for women to achieve financial independence and stability through homeownership. By taking advantage of these benefits and following the right steps, women can make their dream of owning a home a reality.
Owning a home is a significant achievement, and with the right financial tools and support, women across India can take this vital step towards securing their future.

Essential Schemes for Taxi Drivers and Gig Workers
Introduction Taxi drivers and gig workers play a vital role in our modern economy, providing essential services and convenience to people across the globe. However, their work often comes with financial uncertainties and challenges. To address these issues, various governments and organizations have introduced essential schemes to support and protect these workers. In this article, we will explore some of the key schemes designed to assist taxi drivers and gig workers.
Karnataka Driver Scheme The major reason the Karnataka government agencies responsible for the scheme launched it was to provide financial assistance to those most negatively impacted by COVID-19 and the nation's lockdown situation. The Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka has made it plain that in order to aid all of the struggling farmers during this time of hardship, we must pay fair and reasonable prices for their produce in order to enable them to live joyfully and without financial stress.
Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme The Swawalambi Sarathi scheme was launched by the Karnataka government to reduce the state's unemployment rate. The state government will provide financial assistance to the program's recipients through this initiative so they can buy vehicles and expand their companies. Their income will rise as a result, and the young people will be motivated to take advantage of the program.
Airavata Scheme This program aims to help rural youth become self-employed through successful cab transport businesses like Radio Taxi and corporate aggregators like OLA and UBER.To promote stable and improved livelihoods, rural youngsters from SC/ST communities would get training, mentoring, and other financial aid. A subsidy of Rs. 5,00,000 would be provided to the beneficiary in order for them to acquire a light motor vehicle, which not only helps them create income but also lessens their EMI burden.
Gig worker's insurance Scheme The Karnataka government has declared that it will fully pay the cost of the annual premium for gig workers who are eligible for a free accidental and life insurance cover worth Rs. 4 lakh.
Shramashakti scheme Under this program, religious minority community business owners will receive training in artistic and technical skills as well as a loan of Rs. 50,000 with a 4% interest rate, to be paid back over 36 installments, in order to develop their traditional skills, maintain their current businesses, start new ones, or improve their existing ones. The remaining 50% of the loan would be regarded as a back-end subsidy if the beneficiary repays 50% of it within 36 months. 50% of the backend subsidy will be regarded as a loan if the beneficiary does not pay it back within 36 months.
Udyogini Scheme For their care and growth, the Indian government and women entrepreneurs created the Udyogini initiative. The Udyogini Yojana is in place thanks to the Women Development Corporation of India. By providing women with financial assistance for establishing a business, this initiative promotes and supports women's entrepreneurship among the impoverished.

The Role of Women Entrepreneurs in Shaping the New India
In 2021, when Nykaa IPO created hype with over subscriptions by 81 times, no one believed a women entrepreneur can make such a phenomenal share market debut. But women's participation in the Indian economy was not new. Last month I visited one coastal village in Goa. I was surprised that most of the Mapsa fish market was managed by women only. Ironically, several women have been working on various projects for ages, unaware of the fact that they own 20.37% of MSMEs in India.
Women-led Business Impact
Women-owned businesses are providing direct employment to 22–27 million people. As per Boston Consulting Group, women-founded or co-founder startups generate 10% more cumulative revenue over five years. Moreover, these start-ups enjoy a more inclusive work culture and employ 3x more women than men. Not only this, McKinsey Global states that India can potentially add US$ 700 billion to global GDP by increasing women’s participation in the labor force.
Now, let’s focus on those drivers that contribute Women toward Women's Entrepreneurial Roles.
Factors Driving More Women toward Women Entrepreneurial roles
Recognition: Social recognition or admiration motivates women entrepreneurs. It boosts their esteem and makes them socially secure.
Results: Women owned start-ups provide 35% higher ROI compared to those owned by men.
Better Livelihood: Women play a major role in making the family’s purchasing decisions. They like to strive for a better livelihood, therefore, the need motivates women to establish a small business for themselves.
Education: As per the latest stats, the female literacy rate is close to 70% in India.
Suggestions for Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs
On Funding:
There are several government-supported funding initiatives encouraging women's participation in business. Schemes like Bharatiya Mahila Bank Business Loan, Dena Shakti Scheme, and Udyogini Scheme are there to make funding possible for business women.
Women Entrepreneurship Platform:
Niti Aayog promoted women entrepreneurship platforms that arrange various workshop programs for women. Apart from this, CII’s IWN (Indian women network) groups are there that provide a common platform for women entrepreneurs to form close licensing groups.
Business Bio Websites:
Business women can not ignore digital platforms, they need to focus early to establish their digital identity. There are specialized business bio website platforms like meripehchan.me where women entrepreneurs or
social-prenures can make their business bio.
Business Bio is an online low-cost budget bio website that helps women solopreneurs simplify their marketing message and connect with customers to grow their business by engaging in meaningful conversations. It's a website for solopreneurs who don't have time to write about themselves or their businesses. They can feature their unique products and services in a classic and elegant way.
Early financial Planning:
Women in business need to start focusing on financial planning early. This can help them to get a pool of capital ready for the future and at the same time help her to provide financial stability.
The Big Lesson We Draw at the End
Women are the backbone of the Indian economy, they have been supporting the Indian economy for many decades. They just need to plan their business in a more structured way, so that no one has to write such blogs to showcase the importance of Women Solopreneurs in the Indian economy.
