Revealing the truth: Karan Johar’s House Party Controversy

Bollywood’s coolest director and filmmaker Karan Johar recently caught in trouble after sharing a video on his Instagram account. The video was captioned, “Saturday night vibes.” Apart from films, Karan is famous for hosting the coolest parties of B-Town, and fans eagerly wait to see off-screen avatars of their favorite stars. But, sharing the video this time has backfired him.

Everything was going well and fans were appreciating how these superstars were looking and enjoying an off from their ever-busy schedule until an MLA Manjinder S. Sirsa from AKALI DAL commented and raised questions on their behavior. Manjinder shared the videos of Karan Johar’s house party and captioned it as #UDTABollywood. He alleged it was a drug party and highlighted a white substance which is clearly visible in the video.

Karan Johar finally breaks his silence on allegations of having a drug party

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has found himself in a controversy after a video of his house party went viral on social media.

The video, that featured the who’s who of Bollywood included Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and politico Milind Deora’s producer wife, Pooja Shetty Deora.

As soon as the video goes viral, SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) MLA Majinder Sirsa tweeted that the celebs were in a drugged state.

Well now, in a recent interview with Rajeev Masand, Karan Johar rubbished all the claims by MLA Manjinder Sirsa. He said, “There were achieving members of the industry who were having an easy night out after a hard week of work, having a good time. I took that video with all the earnestness… would I be putting out that video if there was anything happening at all, I am not stupid.”

He aldo addressed the accusations on Vicky Kaushal for using powder and shared that he was recovering from dengue and was drinking hot water and lemon. He shared, “Apparently you are not allowed to scratch your nose. Apparently, you are not allowed to put your phone in your back pocket. Apparently, a shadow of light is perceived to be some kind of powder.”

He also added that his mother was also present at the party. He said, “My mother, 5 minutes before this video, was sitting with us. It was that kind of a family, happy, social gathering, where friends were sitting and having a good time and we were listening to some music, having some good food and having good conversational energy there. There was nothing else going on.”

While he accepted that he wondered whether he should react to the accusations, he eventually decided not to. “I don’t react very well to these baseless accusations because that’s what they were, baseless,” he said, while accepting that he will take a more ruthless course next time,

“I told them also… I am not taking this very kindly, the next time where baseless accusations, I will take the legal route. You cannot mar our solid reputations, our sincere reputations our committed reputations just because you are presuming something. You cannot put out a baseless accusation that has no base, no fact, no truth, no reality and try and mar us and our reputations, it’s ridiculous.”

After refusing to apologise, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Manjinder S Sirsa now requests Mumbai police to file FIR against Deepika Paudukone, Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, among others for doing drugs at Karan Johar’s party.

 He has written a letter to the Commissioner of Mumbai for the FIR registration and asked Mumbai Police to file an FIR against the celebrities in the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985.

Sirsa also claimed that he is fighting for a cause and will continue to do so till the end: “I am fighting for a cause. These drug-addicted stars are setting a wrong trend in real life; while on screen they defamed our State & its youth! I am not affected by trollers. They may continue abusing me I would pursue this case till the end & expose the stars’ hypocrisy”

It all began when Karan Johar uploaded an Instagram video of a Saturday night party. The video that went viral, showed his friends and Bollywood A-listers including Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Shahid Kapoor, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji among others. It was captioned “Saturday night vibes”.

On Tuesday, a minister from India political party Shiromani Akali Dal, Majinder Sirsa shared the video and wrote, “#UDTABollywood – Fiction Vs Reality Watch how the high and mighty of Bollywood proudly flaunt their drugged state!! Now, Sirsa has released a video on his Twitter handle, in which he refuses to apologise over his tweet.

He captioned the video as, “Neither I know @milinddeora; nor his family. I didn’t share this video to harass anyone but to expose Bollywood stars who are themselves into drugs yet defamed our youth calling them drug addict!! I would never apologise to these drug addicts.”
