also he's a ten-year-old forced to be on a run from the law with a brother who is not yet ready to act like a father figure to him (which is someone that he needs as a young kid), and has his own needs as a teenager without a kid dragging behind him all the time.

of course daniel is needy and wants attention, and now he tries to act tough and older because of the circumstances he's in.

also he's been through a lot more. hank stamper hit him and/or tried to kidnap him, he lost his daily life and his friends; now he lost chris and his grandparents too; then he felt like he was losing sean, and then he lost finn (who was like another brother to him)...

and now he was manipulated into a cult. because he's a kid who doesn't know better, and lisbeth was extremely manipulative and obsessive over him.

but people want to blame his actions on the "he's an annoying brat he should die" excuse... which isn't, btw, an excuse to overlook all of this just to make fun of him

Some of y'all need to remember that Daniel is ten years old, and watched his father get shot in front of him, by a police officer, someone that’s supposed to keep you safe. Daniel is a child, and he is traumatized. He is not a brat.

Hello! I was wondering your opinion on something book and ace related. Do you ever get annoyed when you read books with ace representation and they always end up with the character having to explain asexuality to someone who is not ace? Are there any books you've read where this doesn't happen and the person is just ace without having to break it down for people? Thank you!

on the one hand yes

but on the other hand, no 

Language is really important to me, so it makes sense that I would place value in labels. And people don’t understand asexuality. So if a character uses the word in this day and age, it needs to be explained. Otherwise, most readers will be lost. Unfortunate, but true. So it’s annoying but also comforting to see the word and knowing this book is part of the larger dialogue around the identity. 

I can think of two examples of characters being aspec and not using the word asexual or anything. They still explain their feelings, so that still could break things downs, but . .. they are handled differently than ones that use the words. The Posterchildren by Kitty Burroughs has a grey ace character and Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee has an aro ace mc. 

I hope I made sense in this. And heck out those books, they are underrated!!!
