The modern battlefield has no borders, no trenches, and no uniformed soldiers; it is a shapeless ether of whispered lies, half-truths, and brazen fabrications. This is the terrain of informational warfare, where deception thrives not in the dead of night but in the bright glow of every screen we hold, as Russia engineers its own brand of warfare, seeping disinformation into the Western world. Through our beloved social media, like a plague in polished pixels, they infiltrate the consciousness of unsuspecting minds, unraveling the fabric of trust, turning our conversations into a cacophony of doubt. And it is not hyperbole to say that the price of ignorance here is incalculable.
What we face, friends, is an erosion of certainty—a systematic, meticulous dismantling of reality itself. A sophisticated, malevolent mechanism of manipulation, which thrives in the fertile ground of our insatiable appetites for cursory consumption. Ah, cursory—the quiet accomplice, the eager spectator. We scroll, we click, we consume in seconds what takes days or months to verify. But, herein lies the insidious genius of this digital mischief: it is designed not to persuade with the blade of a single lie but to disorient with the fog of countless untruths. And like fog, it settles quietly, unbidden, until clarity is but a memory, and reality is something we navigate with as much faith as reason.
The information deluge is vast, and we are all tempted to wade through it with a cursory glance, picking up only fragments, digesting only morsels. But make no mistake, the cunning architects of disinformation understand this superficiality better than we do ourselves. They know how to make the outrageous believable, the ridiculous plausible, and they understand how profoundly susceptible we are when we engage only the surface. Every retweet, every shared post without scrutiny becomes an unknowing alliance with this phantom army—a digital echo chamber where chaos reigns, and skepticism finds itself outgunned.
In this age, therefore, we are compelled to arm ourselves with a tool that is as venerable as it is vital: verifiable journalism. Not the thunderous, sensationalist headlines designed to gratify our biases but the patient, rigorous investigation that peels back layers of obfuscation to reveal truth’s sober face. For it is only through this unyielding pursuit of facts, verified and corroborated, that we may untangle the lies and reclaim a measure of trust in what we perceive. Journalism, when done rightly, is the painstaking labor of rendering truth in its rightful, undistorted form, and it stands as a bulwark against the tide of artful deception.
So let us not succumb to the lure of cursory engagement. Let us not trade our vigilance for the empty satisfaction of convenience. For in this fight, apathy is surrender, and superficiality is servitude. Stand guard, for the truth is under siege, not by a single tyrant or a visible foe but by an invisible host that lives in the shadows of our screens, waiting to weave its web of confusion. And so, it falls to us to lift our eyes from the scroll, to question, to verify, to be skeptical without becoming cynical. For as long as we stand firm in the defense of fact, the shadows shall never conquer the light.
In every share, in every like, in every passing glance, remember: the truth demands not just your attention but your discernment.

(So true, so true. Gotta love Mumbo angst! Also warning for vague descriptions of corpses because Last Life)
Jimmy's body was a mess.
Mumbo couldn't tear his eyes away from it—from the spot where Grian had shoved Jimmy off the roof, letting the other crumple on the ground. Someone shrieked—that was Mumbo, actually, Mumbo shrieked. Jimmy's glassy eyes seemed to stare directly at him, fear permanently etched into his face.
The world around him was grey, Jimmy's blood a stark contrast to it.
"He needs to learn," a distorted voice—Grian's voice—calmly said. The voice of his friend was sandwiched between so many other voices it was almost hard to tell that it was Grian.
"Wh...what?" Mumbo stammered, his voice faint and panicked as he looked up at Grian.
Grian was on the roof, his blood-red sweater harsh against the greys of the world. Those pitch-black pupils swallowed the sclera whole, and somehow, Mumbo felt as if he was talking to something much bigger than the version of Grian standing there.
"He needs to learn," Grian repeated, sharp teeth and sharper tongue enunciating every syllable of his speech, "that his actions have consequences."
Mumbo was shaking. He could smell the rot from Jimmy, taste the iron in the air. No one else was moving. Not a single blade of grass swayed in the wind. His mind was alternating between loud silence and racing thoughts that threatened to spill over, but then it hit him. This wasn't what happened; Jimmy had just died, how could he already be—?
"Actions have consequences," said Grian, his voice somehow coming from every angle around Mumbo.
I need to move. Move. Please. I need to leave, I need to run, I need to go!
Grian took a step forward.
Mumbo dropped his sword and ran. Flies were buzzing around him even as he fled, the stench of blood and rot making his stomach twist and his throat burn. Ice-cold fear kept him moving, darting past trees and stumbling over large rocks, but he couldn't get far. It was all repeating, he realized. Over and over, no matter how far he tried to run, he couldn't leave.
"Your actions have consequences, Mumbo," whispered Grian's actual, undistorted voice right into his ear.
He saw the flash of metal, and then a blade was puncturing his abdomen, sinking into his flesh with the intent to kill—
Mumbo jolted awake with a scream.
Sweat clung to every inch of his skin, his hands gripping the spot where he could still vaguely feel the burn of being stabbed. His breaths came in quick and raspy, gasping for air like he'd run a marathon.
Just a dream... it was just a bad dream, Mumbo...
His hands still trembled, his heart pumping quickly to push adrenaline through his entire body. Trying to calm himself, he sat there idly for a moment and stared at the lines and callouses on his palms. He allowed himself to feel the softness of his blanket and remembered that he was safe.
It was just a game, after all. He tried to reason that there was no point in being so distressed over something he'd willingly joined in on, but his body did not know reason, so he continued to shake.
"Just a dream, Mumbo. Just a bad dream," he whispered to himself.
And somewhere completely out of normal audible range, Grian laughed.

Phacoemulsification: It is a simple procedure of less than 1 hour duration. Local anesthesia or sedation makes it painless for the patient. A tiny incision is made in front of eye with laser and inserts a pen-shaped probe to break the cloudy lens into pieces. This process is phacoemulsification. Suction then removes the pieces and surgeon places an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Lens can be made of plastic, silicone or acrylic. There are varieties of lens available for implantation as per the patient requirements like Monofocal, Toric and Multifocal intraocular lenses.
Itracapsular cataract surgery: Its rare nowadays, this technique needs larger incision and along with cataract surrounding capsule is also removed. Intraocular lens is placed in front of iris in this procedure.
Recovery
Usually it is a complication free procedure, but it is recommended to be in contact with your surgeon after the surgery. Initially, an eye drop is given to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. You will need frequent visits to the doctor to monitor any complications. Cataract removal procedure doesn’t need night stay, as it’s a small daycare surgery. Most people observe an improvement in their visual function within few days of the surgery, enabling them to restart most of their daily activities including work.

Cataract can be seen in children as a hereditary defect, while eye trauma, smoking, diabetes, excessive use of alcohol, prolonged exposure of sunlight or ultraviolet rays, extended use of corticosteroids are few causes of cataract occurring in elderly people.
Eye Examination
Cataracts can be diagnosed with simple eye exam. The eye exam contains a vision test and an examination of your eyes using a slit lamp microscope. The pupils are dilated with special eye drops to provide a better view of the back of the eye, where the retina and optic nerve are located.

A Sheet Metal Cutter That (Doesn’t) Make Waves: The Nibbler
You’re probably familiar enough with sheet metal shears. If not, getting to know them won’t take too much of your time, because we’ll gamble on a certainty that you do know what scissors are. Sheet metal shears, which are also known as tin snips or aviation snips, have two blades that come together and are leveraged via the force of arms, sometimes compounded, in order to make both straight and curved cuts through sheet metal. They’re probably the most widely recognized sheet metal cutter, and recognizable, as we explained, even with no experience in cutting and working sheet metal.
The question then, is, have you heard of nibblers? Nibblers are their own class of sheet metal cutters that have some unique and very distinct advantages over shears. Yes, shears can be used to make fairly precise, fairly quick cuts along sheet metal, but they come at a price. When not used properly, when rushed or forced, and sometimes through no fault of the user at all, shears create ragged, wavy, even uneven edges along the sheet metal medium.
Tumblr media
That clears the way for nibblers, a sheet metal cutter that is not making waves, literally. Nibblers are a special class of metal cutters that are specifically designed to produce long cuts that do not damage the edge of sheet metal. In other words, nibblers are designed to produce an edge that is not deformed, is not torn and is not wavy. Shears can sometimes do the same, but if the material is moody or temperamental, and you need a nice, clean edge, a nibbler may be the answer.
Whereas shears work effectively by cutting through the metal, it is the same principle of leverage and force that sometimes causes the edge of sheet metal to deform. Nibblers, by contrast, remove a thin strip of metal from the sheet. Because most nibblers do not operate according to the same mechanical principles as shears, they produce the clean, even edge aforementioned.
Most nibblers will produce a fine swarf of metal chips after they have cut through the sheet metal, and although they produce an undistorted edge, some nibblers may produce a ragged edge that needs to be smoothed or finished, depending on the needs of the project. Nibblers are also preferred by some to shears simply because they are better at navigating tight turns and recesses. Shears struggle to cut sharp corners (most of the time) and even the best shears can only cut straight lines or straight and to the right or left, but not both.
If you’re looking to learn more about nibblers or you just want to see some nibblers for sale so you can learn more about their relative virtues, visit John Stortz & Son at Stortz.com. There, whether you’re more interested in shears, nibblers or some other type of sheet metal cutting tools or forming device, you’ll be able to find it.
You can also consult their customer service team with additional questions regarding controlled cutting, cutting capacity, or about hand tools for small jobs. Give them a call at 888-847-3456 to learn more today.

IDK if reblogging that post was an invitation to send you some prompts, but I'd love ❛ what’s the point in having powers/magic, if you don’t take advantage? ❜ :3
Everything is an invitation for you to send me things, love
Jehan spent their free time in parks and graveyards, the only two green spaces where things were permitted to grow and strangers permitted to wander. Graveyards in particular held their fascination, the older, the better. They often spent late afternoons wandering between crumbling headstones without their shoes, seeking stories and leaving flowers in their footsteps. Whether the voices they could hear sometimes were the plants or the dead beneath their feet, they never quite figured out.
“Are you the necromancer, then?”
The voice startled Jehan so much, they jumped. No one usually pestered them out here; most strangers assumed they were grieving a loved one while they traced the letters on crumbling headstones or brought the green back to a newly dug plot. Never had someone spoken to them; never had anyone even tried.
They scrambled to get their back away from whoever this stranger was, perched up on a headstone just one row away, and immediately noticed he only let them catch bits of details at a time. Dark curls and high cheekbones. New-looking suit jacket, worn unbuttoned. Shiny dress shoes. One deep brown, beautiful eye. It was strange. Enough to make them curious but, if anything, it made them more defensive. No one hid that much unless they were dangerous.
“You’re giving me a headache with that,” they whisper at last, careful to keep one hand to the soil. They could trip him up, catch him, if tried anything.
“Didn’t know you lot were so jumpy.” At least his voice was undistorted. “You’d think being around dead things all day would kind of remove all the surprises of the living. Maybe it makes sense, though; the dead don’t talk much.”
“I’m not a necromancer,” they mutter, and the figure looks like he cocks his head like he’s confused.
“You hang around in a graveyard, bring the grass back to life, and talk to headstones, but you’re not a necromancer. Are you sure?”
Jehan tried to fix him in a glare, but that illusion continued to mess with their focus on him. “Am I- Yes, I’m sure! It’s life magic, not death magic. And can you stop doing whatever that thing is?”
“Once I know you’re not dangerous.”
“I’m not, I… watch.”
They had always been warned not to show their magic to anybody, but they felt like they still had the advantage here. They could get away if they needed to; they were fast enough on their feet, and the moment they reached the tree at the bottom of the hill, they would be safe.
Their hand hovers over the very tops on the grass, and they take a steadying breath. The clover leaves between the grass blades shifted and stretched toward their palm as they whispered encouragements under their breath. When they moved their hand a moment later, a patch the shape of their hand stood apart from the rest, the leaves taller, little white blooms sticking up above the green.
Jehan sighed with satisfaction. “See? Life. Not dangerous.”
The stranger shrugged and lets his illusion peel away. He shivered, then rolled his shoulders like he’s tossing off a cloak, and his face fully came into view as he carded his fingers through his hair. He was night made human, even without the disguise, clothes and hair and eyes dark as the shadow between the trees and features as sharp as a crescent moon. Jehan might not be dangerous, but he certainly was.
“Is that all you can do?” he asked skeptically.
“Is your illusion all you can do? I like to keep my acts small, though.”
“But why?” He slipped off his perch and crossed the row toward them, then knelt near the grass. He passed his hand over the clovers, letting them barely touch his palm. “You could do so much. What’s the point of having magic if you don’t take advantage?”
“Well, I… I like helping. I talk to the plants that are wilting at the supermarket to give them a chance to find homes. I whisper to people’s gardens from the other side of the wall, so they grow better fruit. It’s nice. It makes me feel nice. Could I maybe get a name now that you know I’m not a threat?”
“It’s on the cemetery sign.”
“Montparnasse?”
“You got it. I already know why you are, Jehan.”
They would have asked how, but he plucked one of the flowers at the base. “What are you doing?”
“Checking something.” He rolled the stem in his fingers and made an affirmative noise. “I hate to break it to you, but I was right.”
“I told you, I use-”
“Life magic, I know. What exactly do you think necromancy is? It’s the epitome of life magic. Breathing life into what once was. You could raise this whole graveyard if you wanted. Take everything you want. Why don’t you?”
“I didn’t know I could. And I have just about everything I could want. My plants, my friends, time alone, books to read. The things I don’t have wouldn’t do me much good to take, either. Besides, I do like keeping things small. Doing too much makes me feel sick.” They took the flower from between his fingers and planted it in the soil again, holding it steady until the roots took hold.
“Sounds like a waste to me,” Montparnasse grumbled, frowning at the bloom.
Jehan breathed a little laugh. “Maybe so, but it’s what I’m good at. Would you maybe… mind showing me what else you can do? If it’s not dangerous anyway.”
“Just a bit. I can’t go giving away all my secrets.”
“Of course.”

MIT engineers fly first-ever plane with no moving parts
Since the first airplane took flight over 100 years ago, virtually every aircraft in the sky has flown with the help of moving parts such as propellers, turbine blades, and fans, which are powered by the combustion of fossil fuels or by battery packs that produce a persistent, whining buzz.
Now MIT engineers have built and flown the first-ever plane with no moving parts. Instead of propellers or turbines, the light aircraft is powered by an “ionic wind” — a silent but mighty flow of ions that is produced aboard the plane, and that generates enough thrust to propel the plane over a sustained, steady flight.
Unlike turbine-powered planes, the aircraft does not depend on fossil fuels to fly. And unlike propeller-driven drones, the new design is completely silent.
“This is the first-ever sustained flight of a plane with no moving parts in the propulsion system,” says Steven Barrett, associate professor of aeronautics and astronautics at MIT. “This has potentially opened new and unexplored possibilities for aircraft which are quieter, mechanically simpler, and do not emit combustion emissions.”
He expects that in the near-term, such ion wind propulsion systems could be used to fly less noisy drones. Further out, he envisions ion propulsion paired with more conventional combustion systems to create more fuel-efficient, hybrid passenger planes and other large aircraft.
Barrett and his team at MIT have published their results today in the journal Nature.
Hobby crafts
Barrett says the inspiration for the team’s ion plane comes partly from the movie and television series, “Star Trek,” which he watched avidly as a kid. He was particularly drawn to the futuristic shuttlecrafts that effortlessly skimmed through the air, with seemingly no moving parts and hardly any noise or exhaust.
“This made me think, in the long-term future, planes shouldn’t have propellers and turbines,” Barrett says. “They should be more like the shuttles in ‘Star Trek,’ that have just a blue glow and silently glide.”
About nine years ago, Barrett started looking for ways to design a propulsion system for planes with no moving parts. He eventually came upon “ionic wind,” also known as electroaerodynamic thrust — a physical principle that was first identified in the 1920s and describes a wind, or thrust, that can be produced when a current is passed between a thin and a thick electrode. If enough voltage is applied, the air in between the electrodes can produce enough thrust to propel a small aircraft.
For years, electroaerodynamic thrust has mostly been a hobbyist’s project, and designs have for the most part been limited to small, desktop “lifters” tethered to large voltage supplies that create just enough wind for a small craft to hover briefly in the air. It was largely assumed that it would be impossible to produce enough ionic wind to propel a larger aircraft over a sustained flight.
“It was a sleepless night in a hotel when I was jet-lagged, and I was thinking about this and started searching for ways it could be done,” he recalls. “I did some back-of-the-envelope calculations and found that, yes, it might become a viable propulsion system,” Barrett says. “And it turned out it needed many years of work to get from that to a first test flight.”
Ions take flight
The team’s final design resembles a large, lightweight glider. The aircraft, which weighs about 5 pounds and has a 5-meter wingspan, carries an array of thin wires, which are strung like horizontal fencing along and beneath the front end of the plane’s wing. The wires act as positively charged electrodes, while similarly arranged thicker wires, running along the back end of the plane’s wing, serve as negative electrodes.
The fuselage of the plane holds a stack of lithium-polymer batteries. Barrett’s ion plane team included members of Professor David Perreault’s Power Electronics Research Group in the Research Laboratory of Electronics, who designed a power supply that would convert the batteries’ output to a sufficiently high voltage to propel the plane. In this way, the batteries supply electricity at 40,000 volts to positively charge the wires via a lightweight power converter.
Once the wires are energized, they act to attract and strip away negatively charged electrons from the surrounding air molecules, like a giant magnet attracting iron filings. The air molecules that are left behind are newly ionized, and are in turn attracted to the negatively charged electrodes at the back of the plane.
As the newly formed cloud of ions flows toward the negatively charged wires, each ion collides millions of times with other air molecules, creating a thrust that propels the aircraft forward.

The team, which also included Lincoln Laboratory staff Thomas Sebastian and Mark Woolston, flew the plane in multiple test flights across the gymnasium in MIT’s duPont Athletic Center — the largest indoor space they could find to perform their experiments. The team flew the plane a distance of 60 meters (the maximum distance within the gym) and found the plane produced enough ionic thrust to sustain flight the entire time. They repeated the flight 10 times, with similar performance.

“This was the simplest possible plane we could design that could prove the concept that an ion plane could fly,” Barrett says. “It’s still some way away from an aircraft that could perform a useful mission. It needs to be more efficient, fly for longer, and fly outside.”
The new design is a “big step” toward demonstrating the feasibility of ion wind propulsion, according to Franck Plouraboue, senior researcher at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics in Toulouse, France, who notes that researchers previously weren’t able to fly anything heavier than a few grams.
“The strength of the results are a direct proof that steady flight of a drone with ionic wind is sustainable,” says Plouraboue, who was not involved in the research. “[Outside of drone applications], it is difficult to infer how much it could influence aircraft  propulsion  in the future. Nevertheless, this is not really a weakness but rather an opening for future progress, in a field which is now going to burst.”
Barrett’s team is working on increasing the efficiency of their design, to produce more ionic wind with less voltage. The researchers are also hoping to increase the design’s thrust density — the amount of thrust generated per unit area. Currently, flying the team’s lightweight plane requires a large area of electrodes, which essentially makes up the plane’s propulsion system. Ideally, Barrett would like to design an aircraft with no visible propulsion system or separate controls surfaces such as rudders and elevators.
“It took a long time to get here,” Barrett says. “Going from the basic principle to something that actually flies was a long journey of characterizing the physics, then coming up with the design and making it work. Now the possibilities for this kind of propulsion system are viable.”
This research was supported, in part, by MIT Lincoln Laboratory Autonomous Systems Line, the Professor Amar G. Bose Research Grant, and the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART). The work was also funded through the Charles Stark Draper and Leonardo career development chairs at MIT.

💬 !
For every 💬 I get in my inbox, I’ll post a quote from my own writing that I’m proud of!
I actually kind of dig writing dream sequences; there’s a fun challenge in making them feel disjointed, unreal, not-quite-right but still interesting to read. I also get to pull at fractions of Sans past, which is fun. This was another AU!Sans excerpt, but I don’t doubt that my main Sans has had very similar dreams in the past. Interestingly, this was written when Gaster played a different role towards my Sans than he does currently, but I think I could still justify how Sans is seeing him in the dream. That’d be a whole slew of analysis though hahaha.
I think I managed to get a lot of good visuals with this, and a really good feeling of just creepy and unsettling. At least, I hope I did! I very rarely feel content with my “darker” content, so it feels nice to be satisified!
Sans hadn’t been sure of how well he’d sleep, but he had felt so very tired and before he was even fully aware of it, his mind slipped into subconscious thought and left his body to rest.
In his dream, he’d been sitting at what had once been his work desk at the Lab. He was bleeding from his chest, and using a hand to compress the wound; the liquid kept seeping out between the cracks of his joints. It wasn’t very effective, but Sans didn’t feel terribly concerned.
The lab door opened, and Gaster entered the room, his body still whole as it had been prior to being scattered by The Void. Just like he used to do, Gaster buttoned up his lab coat and started explaining to him what their plan would be for the days work as he walked into another room. Sans followed him and felt his mouth begin to fill with blood.
He silently listened to his instructions, careful to keep his teeth pressed firmly together so that the blood didn’t seep through. It had been— a very long time since Sans had felt nervous, but he was certainly getting— anxious. If Gaster didn’t hurry it up, Sans wouldn’t be able to continue hiding what was building in his mouth, and for some reason, this felt awfully important to him.
Luckily, the old scientist dismissed him in time, and Sans made his way into the bathroom. He spat the blood into the sink, emptying his mouth, but it kept coming, and coming, and he idly remembered wondering if this was what vomiting felt like for humans.
It tasted like spoiled ketchup and rotten meat.
There was a pounding on the door, and the anxiety was back. An instinct told Sans to hide, toughen up, clean up, quick, quicker, and he somehow just knew that he would be as good as dead if he was caught with blood on his hands.
He had just finished rinsing the red from his bones when the door slammed open. Three human men dressed in blackish-blue came rushing in and immediately examined the sink, only to discover it was clean. Which was odd, considering Sans hadn’t thought to wipe it down.
It didn’t do much to deflate them. Two of the men grabbed Sans by his arms and pushed him to his knees, and really it hadn’t been necessary, he wasn’t even resisting, but he knew they liked to do that anyway so he let them, and waited patiently while one forced his thick, fleshy fingers into his mouth, opening it far wider than was comfortable as he checked for blood. It tasted like pencil lead.
There wasn’t any trace of red liquid anywhere on him, so they let him go and left. Sans had just gotten back to his feet and was adjusting his jacket when he heard Gaster call out from behind him. When he turned, there was a door that he didn’t remember being there before, but somehow seemed as though it belonged.
Gaster was waiting for him, notebook in hand, standing in front of an operating table. Sans could make out the pale form of a human corpse behind him. The scientist asked if he was ready to begin work. He said yes.
He put on a lab coat before approaching the table— he didn’t want to get his jacket dirty— and grabbed a surgical blade from the instrument tray beside him. It was so easy to cut into their chest, slicing through it like butter. There was no was no blood as the flesh fell open, and Sans thought that maybe he hadn’t needed his lab coat after all.
After some work, he was able to gain access to their heart and made another delicate incision into the red organ. He cut a line down, and then horizontal, creating a tiny, little cross. Carefully, Sans peeled back the cut pieces, like an outer layer of fruit, and under the thick slabs of heart, there was revealed a SOUL.
He showed it to Gaster. The scientist squinted at it briefly before shaking his head.
“No,” Sans was told, in a voice that was familiar, and whole, and for once undistorted by time and space, “That won’t do. Toss it away with the others and grab another one.”
There wasn’t much else to do except nod. Sans took the corpse by the arm, and it was strange, how cold humans got when they were dead. He dragged it off the table and over to a pile of bodies with similar incisions, all rejected, marinating in a thin pool of blood. He dumped the body in among the mound, and for a moment, he hesitated; thought he saw brown hair and brown eyes, could have sworn he had seen them before but then—
he blinked, and it was just a pile of random bones covered in fatty tissue, muscle, and skin. As he turned to walk away, the taste of spoiled ketchup and rotten meat lingered in his mouth.
Sans woke up, and a twisted sickness lurched inside of him but was just too tiredt to pay it any attention.

Cataract Surgery In Ghatkopar and Cataract Treatment In Ghatkopar From Eye Specialist
Cataract Surgery In Ghatkopar
Cataract surgery is replacing the faulty lens with an artificial lens. It’s a common and safe procedure done by ophthalmologist when you are having cloudy vision. Decision to undergo cataract surgery depends on the level of difficulty; a patient is facing on daily routine activities.
What is Cataract?
Cataract is progressive in nature and develops with time you grow older. Cataract affects most of people and becomes prominent with age. It can be described as blurry, cloudy or opaque vision. Natural eye lens focuses light on the retina to form clear and undistorted image. Clouding of this lens results in blurred and distorted image. It commonly affects both eyes but in few cases one eye cataract might advances rapidly. If not treated on time, may result is complete loss of sight.
Causes of Cataract
Cataract can be seen in children as a hereditary defect, while eye trauma, smoking, diabetes, excessive use of alcohol, prolonged exposure of sunlight or ultraviolet rays, extended use of corticosteroids are few causes of cataract occurring in elderly people.
Eye Examination
Cataracts can be diagnosed with simple eye exam. The eye exam contains a vision test and an examination of your eyes using a slit lamp microscope. The pupils are dilated with special eye drops to provide a better view of the back of the eye, where the retina and optic nerve are located.
Symptoms of cataract
Ask yourself few questions
Do you feel difficulty in seeing at night?
Is reading or watching television becoming difficult for you?
Driving at night or seeing in bright light has become difficult?
Do you need assistance for finding ways while walking, cooking, shopping or daily activities of your visi
Are you opting for alternate ways to substitute your vision problems?
Glare or sensitivity to light is another symptom of cataract. Diplopia or double vision is also seen in cataract patients. It also affects color vision, leading to yellowish or brownish tint to your eyesight. Patients often need frequent changes in their eyeglasses.
Cataract Treatment in Ghatkopar
Cataract develops as a result of thickened eye lens and treatment is to replace faulty lens with a new lens. Cataract removal is a routine treatment procedure at opthalomogist clinic and carried out across the globe with rarely any accompanying complications.
To prepare you for surgery, your doctor calls you for eye checkup (a week before), to choose which eye lens is best for you.
On the day of surgery, it’s recommended not to eat for 12 hours before surgery.
Bladeless Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery at Mumbai Eye Care, Ghatkopar, is performed using the latest robotic technology which is completely bladeless and with ultrafine precision using the FEMTOSECOND LENSX LASER, ALCON, USA. This is an US FDA approved laser cataract surgery performed by our eye doctors and eye surgeon at Ghatkopar, Mumbai. This ensures complete blade free surgery, with high level of precision and excellent visual results. This technology makes the surgery very safe and reduces the chances of any complications to negligible.
How the Femtosecond Laser Works
Femtosecond laser performs most of the steps of cataract surgery that are otherwise performed using hand, thus decreasing the chances of human error and improves the precision.
Femtosecond LASER makes the cuts or incision on the cornea that were traditionally performed using blade. These incision are perfectly self sealing and thus do not need any sutures and heal rapidly.
The capsulorrhexis can be altered in terms of size and one can get a perfectly centered capsulorrhexis thus ensuring perfect IOL or lens positioning and better outcomes in cases of premium IOLs such as toric IOL and Multifocal IOL.
Benefits of Femtosecond/ Robotic/ Bladeless/ Bladefree cataract surgery at Mumbai Eye Care, Ghatkopar.
Most Advanced technology available today
A Complete Blade Free Procedure
Laser precise predictable outcomes
Enhanced Safety
Customized Procedure
Majority of people regain full activity after a few days of getting the procedure. Your doctor might fit you with a pair of glasses (if needed) once your vision is stabilized. This also depends upon the type of intraocular lens implanted in your eye.
Cataract Surgery FAQs
Are Cataracts found only in older people?

Will a U.S. Adaptation Ruin Sebastian Lelio’s <i>Gloria</i>?
New Post has been published on https://usnewsaggregator.com/will-a-u-s-adaptation-ruin-sebastian-lelios-gloria/
Will a U.S. Adaptation Ruin Sebastian Lelio’s Gloria?
When asked about the field research he conducted for his film Gloria, the Chilean director Sebastian Lelio described going out with his mother and her friends. “When I have a drink with them,” Lelio told the magazine Cromos in 2014, “I see things from their side because they’re living something so fierce: a cruel process of disappearance, of becoming invisible in a society in which beauty is understood as an obsession with youth.” Despite his choice of words, the 43-year-old director—who is now working on adapting a version of the 2013 drama for American audiences—didn’t actually make a movie that dismisses women beyond their child-bearing years as “disappearing.”
Gloria doesn’t insist on an essential tragicomic sadness in female aging like so many films do. The story’s eponymous hero is 58 and long divorced, checking in at an office job by day, and working Santiago’s swank club-circuit for mature singles by night. Played by a radiant Paulina García, Gloria doesn’t explicitly reject her modest place in Chile’s free-market, so-called “miracle” economy. Instead, she seeks alternative fates on the dance floor, in the narcotic power of Lite FM nostalgia radio and in the companionship of a retired naval officer named Rodolfo (Sergio Hernandez). Mostly, though, even with the specter of abandonment and blindness (she gets a glaucoma diagnosis at one point), Gloria luxuriates in her own selfhood. She’s empathic and open and essentially untethered to the stultifying dramas that confine the lives of those around her, including Rodolfo and her grown children.
Critics in Europe and the United States praised Gloria for, among other things, its “authenticity.” Carlos Boyero of El Pais wrote that the film dares to show “with naturalness the nudity of people who’ve entered winter, it shows the desire of their bodies.” Betsy Sharkey observed for The Los Angeles Times that Lelio depicts sex between older adults in a way that “is neither gratuitous nor gross nor glossy.” But this marveling is ironically a feature of how invisibility is assigned and thrives. With Gloria, the tragedy is not in aging, but in the much-remarked novelty of a 60-ish woman in bed as something undistorted and even natural—as if it’s a surprise that human desire might persist to the end of life.
Gloria launched Lelio into the ranks of Chilean directors on the international radar, notably Pablo Larrain (of No and Jackie fame) and Sebastian Silva (The Maid). Lelio’s latest film, Una Mujer Fantástica, starring the trans actress Daniela Vega, opens in theaters across the U.S. in February. His first English-language feature, Disobedience, with Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams, debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall to acclaim. And now, Lelio is also writing and directing a U.S. adaptation of Gloria, which will be inspired by the original story rather than a regular remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will star Julianne Moore, who has made a career of playing fascinating women across the spectrum of human experience, from a porn actress who’s lost custody of her son in 1997’s Boogie Nights to a linguistics professor with Alzheimer’s in 2014’s Still Alice. With a film as innovative as Gloria, whose  ethos of self-deliverance translates across cultural boundaries, the prospect of a “reimagining” is bittersweet. But there’s reason to hope that, with Lelio at the helm, the Hollywood version could be the director’s rebuke to the fact that Gloria has few equivalents in American cinema.
* * *
Most stories about women in or nearing middle age form part of the small canon of post-divorce bildungsroman films, including Paul Mazursky’s An Unmarried Woman (1978), in which an electrifying Jill Clayburgh ultimately thrives after her marriage unravels. More recent examples of similar reckoning include Mike Nichols’s Heartburn (1986), based on Nora Ephron’s novel and screenplay; Richard LaGravenese’s Living Out Loud (1998); Audrey Wells’s Under the Tuscan Sun; and Diane English’s The Women (2008). Still, these movies are about women considerably younger than Gloria and in the midst or immediate aftermath of ill-fated marriages.
Meanwhile, Nancy Meyers’s Something’s Gotta Give (2003) and It’s Complicated (2009) are genial, indulgent films about the desirability of their accomplished, older heroines. But each film winks at viewers with the improbability and counterintuitive humor of its premise; suitors swarm, romantic triangles emerge, and sex is reduced to geriatric antics. Isabel Coixet’s Learning To Drive (2014), based on a Katha Pollitt New Yorker essay, stands out as a quieter study of personal restoration and tackling long-delayed projects in the wake of divorce.
But these are all isolated examples of movies in the vein of Gloria. Since John Cassavetes’s defining films from the ’60s and ’70s, in which the inevitability of aging hangs like a guillotine blade, few directors have taken an interest in the full-dimensional humanity of older women. More typically, an aging woman’s longings are mawkish, or else her besottedness makes for absurdist fun. In Alfonso Cuarón’s Great Expectations (1998), the characters are lithe, contemporary reinventions with the grotesque exception of Nora Dinsmoor (Charles Dickens’s Miss Havisham) played by Anne Bancroft. Nora is all thwarted womanhood, a permanently jilted bride aghast at the dispossession accrued by age. Her face weeps mortician-grade makeup, a willful perversion of Charles Baudelaire’s idea that women wear cosmetics “to make divine their fragile beauty.”
Somewhere on this same small spectrum, Sally Field plays a disheveled 60-something woman who dons a Minnie Mouse bow and stalks after a younger colleague in Michael Showalter’s Hello, My Name Is Doris (2016). Like Gloria, Doris spends her days in a cubicle—that overused emblem of stifled promise. It turns out she’s a “holdover” from a corporate takeover so that even her age is an eccentricity in an office filled with insouciant youth. Then, with one innocuous and misinterpreted elevator exchange, Doris is suddenly reminded of her own vitality, perhaps for the first time since her fizzled aspirations as a bride decades earlier. But now, the movie suggests, it’s too late for her to enter any desirable man’s field of vision, much less a young one. The comedy, of course, rides on her increasingly frantic efforts to do just that.
And this is where Gloria’s protagonist departs from most similar American heroines: She’s not essentially in conflict with herself. Her loneliness is not a grasping sort, but a dignified bid for transcendence. García appears in every frame with near unwavering grace, even when high on pisco sour and making out with a stranger against a graffiti-scrawled lamppost in Viña del Mar. Viewers watch the surface turbulence of Gloria’s life from a still, clear depth, as though the events are ultimately incidental: Rodolfo’s inability to leave the collection of broken, dependent adults that make up his family; Gloria’s ex-husband’s drunken regrets at a fraught family reunion; and her own son and daughter’s unpromising relationships. Gloria cries privately at her daughter’s abrupt departure from Chile at one point, not in a bereft sense, but the way parents can feel like helpless onlookers to their adult children’s flawed lives.
Lelio has said Gloria’s script, written with Gonzalo Maza, draws lightly on his mother’s life, and is broadly an exploration of her generation—women raised for marriage and later caught in the unfettered economic and social changes in Chile after its transition to democracy in the late 1980s. Rising inequality, living costs, and divorce rates spurred by rapid modernization echo in the story’s margins, as do darker insinuations of the country’s unresolved military past in the figure of Rodolfo. The audience sees a backdrop of confinement—stairwells, parking lots, tidy apartments. Santiago is reduced to a gray drift of development that registers vaguely in the reflection of Gloria’s car window. But Lelio defies tendencies to turn each new Latin American film into a thinly veiled comment on history and politics. Gloria’s physical surroundings are bleakly dim and unspecific, with the exception of a brilliant beach where she wakes up at one point, hungover and robbed of her purse.
Of the new English-language version, Lelio has said, “It’s going to be like jazz, you’ll feel the spirit of the original story but it’ll be reinvigorated and vital.” It’s hard to imagine how Lelio’s film needs to be reinvigorated. It’d be easy to make another comically disruptive spectacle of a female character’s post-menopausal sexuality. In less adept hands, if the erratic history of American remakes is any guide—from duds like The Vanishing (1993) and Shall We Dance (2004) to the accomplished The Departed (2006)—viewers might be served up an accelerated plot or sentimental pathos. The Hollywood Reporter inauspiciously suggested that, in Lelio’s as-yet untitled U.S. adaptation, Moore’s character will be “vacillating between hope and despair” over a love affair, before ending on a note of personal vindication.
Admirers of Lelio’s work can only hope the director will handle his new film with the same deftness he used in the original. What’s radical in the director’s vision is that Gloria’s body and desire are gracefully unremarkable frames for seeking pleasure and fulfillment. And that she’s startlingly visible in her ordinariness. Gloria is a sobering reminder that it’s not the “invisibility” of older women that’s the problem, but rather their systemic exclusion from cultural relevance. Whatever acts of contortion Lelio might end up performing to cater to American sensibilities, there’s hope that he’ll at least flout Hollywood biases against the aging female body. And if not, there’s always the original, in which Gloria, in a memorable revenge scene, confronts her fatuous lover with the cool of a hired assassin. How does she follow this act? With a night out—dancing alone.
