So, my eevee recently evolved into an umbreon, except instead of having yellow rings, he has yellow spots and splotches all over. I've scheduled him for a vet appointment in a day or two, but is there anything care-wise i should change until then? Looking it up online hasn't given me any concrete answers

umbreon's bioluminscent patches are the result of special glands under the skin that secrete the chemicals used to produce their light. it sounds like your umbreon might have some manner of ectodermal dysplasia that only became apparent upon evolution. eevee are so genetically unstable that this condition may even have happened because of his evolution. please don't blame yourself for it, though- it's just an aspect of having an eevee that's outside of the trainer's control.

there's really not much you can or need to do until the vet visit. for medical concerns, it's best to wait for a diagnosis so you can learn what's causing the abnormality. while i suspect this is a form of ED, i'm not a vet and i don't know your pokemon. it may be some other kind of mutation, and with an eeveelution i wouldn't be surprised if it was some other bizarre gene issue. just keep your umbreon comfortable and watch out for symptoms that could help your vet figure out what's going on. i'd pay particular attention to any signs of fur loss or skin discomfort, and avoid touching him with bare hands- umbreon sweat out poison from glands on their skin, and if this is affecting those poison glands too, he may actively be secreting poison.

Kieran plush and now Eevee merch? Welp it’s time to say goodbye to all my Christmas money—

A lot of Eevee merch is coming to Pokemon Centers this year, from re-releasing old PokeDolls (which are on the site right now except for Flareon) to announcing a new series of Eevolutions figures. The Boa plushies recently announced in Japan are also coming over, at least according to the UK newsletter, but they'll probably come to the US too.

(Imagine if we get another Eeveelution finally with ZA with the new merchandising focus. We did get our last one in Kalos after all. I doubt it, but it's fun to think about. I always wanted a steel type Eevee.)

Another First 4 Figures figure has also been announced, this one being Gyarados.
