Elon Musk's Twitter Take-Over

As of last Thursday, billionaire Elon Musk has taken over Twitter for $44 billion and has already made some changes to the company's operating systems. So far, Musk has made plans for Twitter to go private, shut down stock trades on public markets, and laid off important executives.

Turning the once very public company into a private one is a bold step forward for the new chief. New York Times reports how as a private firm, Twitter will have some advantages as Musk will have more control over the company. For one, Twitter will no longer be required to give quarterly performance reports leading to less public scrutiny. Musk will have more flexibility in making his tweaks to the company policies without polarized opinions from the public.

While buying Twitter, he also merged the social media company with X Holdings. X will be buying out and taking control of Twitter's stocks, delisting the company from the public stock market as of Nov. 8th. This may affect employees with public stock holdings as anxiety about properly cashing out their shares rises among workers.

According to Social Media Today, Musk has already fired top executives CEO Parag Agrawal and platform’s head of policy, Vijaya Gadde. He is continuing to lay off other workers including the current board of directors and will be installing a new group most likely to be 'friends and investors. Others are seen walking out, in part of their disapproval of new leadership and change in policies.

Some additional talk about the future of the company can be found on Elon Musk's Twitter page, with his title being 'Cheif Twit'. On Oct. 28th, Musk comments about plans to instate a content moderation council before proceeding with 'major content decisions or account reinstatements'.

A lot of new developments are sure to come with Musk in charge, as he hopes to push Twitter to become a social media powerhouse.
