Symbiotic Relationship: Eels and Shrimps have a Symbiotic Relationship. Jade and Floyd have that with Yuu, she treats them as friends and not enemies, in return for her friendship, they protect her. So, when Yuu gets badly injured, Jade and Floyd protect what is theirs. AO3 - Complete

Charmed by the Sea: If Yuu had a madol for being in the middle of someone's family nonsense by accident, she'd have three madol, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened three times. Of course, it would've been nice if Jade and Floyd had warned her first about their parents visiting. Sequel to "Symbiotic Relationship". AO3 - In progress.

Stolen Jackets: Yuu somehow manages to gain a collection of stolen jackets from the NRC boys that they had left at Ramshackle. i've been living in her world for so long, and before that in my ex's world for a decade. and both of their worlds aren't real. i had to adapt to living in this made-up world where other rules apply, where the same action has different consequences, where the victim is the abuser, where the reaction to the abuse becomes a justification of the abuse, where what i've experienced is taken away from me and claimed to be untrue, where my feelings don't matter, but theirs do, where the slightest disagreement becomes a reason for punishment, where everything good and kind i ever did stops counting at the drop of a needle. i live in alice's wonderland, where nothing makes sense, where words are twisted, and abiding by her rules, or my ex's rules, doesn't necessarily even guarantee a good outcome, because really, nothing, nothing makes sense. and it doesn't matter that you point out to them that they aren't making sense in reality, because their illness creates self-fulfilling excuses for everything. if someone disagrees, it's because they're stupid, or just can't understand them, it's because they don't know the full truth. but all that the "full truth" actually is, is a personality disorder. volatile and unstable emotions and impulses and fixations based in trauma that don't make real sense in the real world.

i also have severe trauma. i had it from childhood, teenagehood, and now i have it from 15 years of relationship trauma, which was my whole adult life so far. but i never let that trauma take control like this. i always worked hard to figure myself out in a healthy way, by learning mental health and psychology and goodness, not in the "i need to figure myself out by enabling my impulses, cheating and lying and behaving destructively and doing drugs, everything to escape my internal conflicts" way.

of course my trauma affects me a lot. it's what kept me in these relationships, to a degree. the fact that i really wanted to have their love no matter how they treat me. i wanted to be loved and cared for and to be happy together, because i've been unhappy for my whole life. but they didn't make me happy, not consistently. just now and then. and i accepted it because of my own trauma, even if i think the largest part is simply because i do love them. because as humans, we do match each other really well, we get along really well, just... not when the disorder hits. they are like completely different people from day to day, while i'm always myself, even if sometimes i'm a bit more sad, or a bit more detached, or a bit more stressed, i never stop being a good person, i never dissociate from my own personality, i find ways to handle my struggles that don't destroy my partner or my relationship.... i care, and i always care, and i still care, now, after all that she did to me. and it's horrible to care this much. but i also think it's important to care this much. i think it's important to love truly and deeply, to support others through bad times. but they weren't supporting themselves. that's the problem. even now, she's not taking care and taking steps to do better, and i know my ex didn't either, even though i no longer know what happens in their life, i can imagine with likely accuracy.

im trying to get myself out of this wonderland, i have one foot in her world, one foot in the real world, but that's a grand step for me. i'm meeting people that aren't like her, that aren't living in delusions. it's so tragic. she hated her mom for her mom's delusions and abuse so much, but she's recreating the exact same thing. i really wish things would've been different. i really wish she'd have trusted me and let me help her before things became like this. i really wish her country had adequate support for her illness, because she's not getting any help, not even when she tried to call the right clinic during a brief moment of clarity. it's so hopeless and so tragic, and i miss her so much, and i love her with all my heart. but i have to keep grounding myself in the real world and not let her keep me in wonderland.

Hi raven! i really want to share my opinion with you about certain plot point in twst. welp i think the M*ckey is an bad plot point and seems very out of place in the game,while i'm not able to explain how it feel…shoehorned??as if yana is forced to include it (because she's writing for d1sney obviously,she gotta insert their mascot) but she's not sure in what to do with him,like what the point of his existence?wil he fight OB!Grim?(i hope not because it will look very unserious); and with the current story themes i cannot see how he could affect the course of events; it would've been a lot better if he remained as just an easter egg imo

But that's just my current feelings it might change later,maybe Yana will reveal the real plot of twst very late just like Black Butler!

While I do agree that Mickey was kind of jarring to see at first, I think that’s only because his aesthetic clashes with that of everything else in the game. If Mickey were presented to us as another conventionally attractive anime boy (or, vice versa, if the TWST boys were drawn as simple anthro animal cartoon characters like Mickey), I feel like the fandom shock would eventually fade into the usual excited squealing 😅

I don’t think Yana was forced to include him because of Mickey being the face of Disney. His inclusion appears to be very purposeful and serves a role in the larger narrative. He doesn’t necessarily need to fight, but it’s very clear that Mickey is closely associated with the player character/Yuu, and that he may even be the key to helping them find a way home, or to understanding how Yuu ended up at Night Raven College to begin with. Just because we have vague details doesn’t mean the devs don’t know what to do with him; there have been many hints sprinkled throughout the game that will ultimately come together at the conclusion. When we get there, it will probably recontextualize all the breadcrumbs that have come along the way.

Firstly, I think Mickey can tie in with the story without necessarily adhering to its themes. Not every character has to exist to play into a work’s themes, because themes alone don’t define the entire work. One can argue that Twisted Wonderland’s themes are “the importance of friendship” and “even villains have their own tales/good sides to them”, but even then, that doesn’t tell the whole story. There are many smaller components which support the themes or are their own things that add to the world or narrative without necessarily supporting the theme. In Mickey’s case, I believe he exists to contribute to the mirror motif and to draw parallels between him and Yuu.

Mirrors (and, subsequently, their reflections) are vital in Twisted Wonderland. There are mirrors everywhere, serving different purposes—identification, teleportation, communication, etc. The fact that Mickey is speaking to Yuu through a mirror (an important object) already calls attention to him. Mickey is all Yuu can see, and Yuu is all Mickey can see; they are reflections of each other, living in different worlds and unable to cross into the other’s. They aren’t alike at all, and yet they were able to make this connection by happenstance. That imagery alone can sell someone on the mystery of it—and, if you look at it from a certain angle, that, too, connects to the themes of friendship in a less overt way. (Similarly, we see “opposites” reflecting each other in the presentation of other characters like Sebek-Silver, the twins, Kalim-Jamil, etc.)

Mickey ties in with the dream sequences that Yuu has between and within main story episodes. With how frequently it happens and how closely the dreams tie in with real world events, it cannot be a coincidence or just something hastily slapped in to stall the main story. We also get check-ins between Yuu and Mickey at the end of every chapter, which implies that they are building up to some kind of big reveal with him (not unlike what they’ve been doing with Yuu and Malleus’s brief meetings to build up hype and emotional stakes for episode 7). There are also other strange details that haven’t been fully explained but still feel weird to point out (almost like they’ll come into play again later): Yuu being the only one who can see Mickey, and both of them not being able to see each others’ worlds. What’s more, Mickey actually makes the Ghost Camera that Yuu received from Crowley in the introduction have narrative purpose.

We also cannot deny that Twisted Wonderland itself is heavily constructed based on Disney properties, which is highly suspect; Mickey’s inclusion could hint at more serious secrets regarding the nature of Twisted Wonderland itself. (For example, the “Twisted Wonderland is Mickey’s dream world, and Yuu’s dreams are Mickey’s world” theory.) It wouldn’t be too out of place tonally considering at how dark and existential episode 6 got (and implied 7 to be). m

If Mickey were left as just an easter egg, I think the main story I think the story would have a lot less intrigue to it (due to his association with Yuu’s dreams and their struggle to find their way home). He’s basically in the same position as Grim or Malleus; Mickey is a character that we meet early on in the main story, and someone who follows us throughout it. And just as we suspect an OB Malleus and a showdown with Grim, there’s no doubt in my mind that Mickey will be integral for whatever ending TWST has in mind for us.

Hoo boy.... There's a whole lot of scrapped concepts so bear with me-

{ Note: This is more focused on the NRC ocs since they happened to be more flawed in comparison to the other TWST OC's }

1. Freyah was originally going to be inspired by Alice Liddel

Back when I first made my TWST OC's, Freyah was one of many who I had a lot of difficulty on who to twist them from

So at first, since there wasn't an "Alice" in Heartslabyul, I initially chose Freyah to fill that role

The original concept was for Freyah to essentially be an inverted version of Alice

Examples being:

If Alice wore blue(At least mostly depicted wearing blue), Freyah would wear red

If Alice slowly realized she wanted to leave the madness of wonderland, then Freyah would never want to leave and embrace the chaos

And so on and so forth

But as time went on, I decided to change the concept after rewatching the Tim Burton "Alice in wonderland" movies; And made Freyah twisted from the Red queen

2. Frisk was originally meant to have a completely different Unique Magic/Signature Spell

Originally, Frisk was meant to have a much different Unique Magic in comparison to the one she currently has

For an explanation, her OG UM(Unique Magic) would allow her to make others feel like they're falling down a rabbit whole and their biggest fear would meet at the very end. This would've also been a reference to her original inspiration being the white rabbit

But after developing Frisk's character outside of being a "mother hen", I ended up changing her UM because I felt it was too edgy for someone like Frisk

3. Grey was originally going to be the vice leader of Savanaclaw

Okay so for context-

The original concept was for Grey to mockingly challenge Leona to a duel for the role of vice leader. And Leona would reluctantly agree

And after 30 minutes of brawling, Grey would eventually win. And by default that would've made her the dorm head of Savanaclaw

BUT, Grey was much more petty in her earlier concepts and decided that she'll just be the vice leader as to not harm Leona's "ego"

4. Yuuta wasn't meant to exist

I originally intended for my version of Twisted Wonderland to not have a "Yuu" cause I thought (at the time) it wouldn't help progress the character arcs of my ocs and their storylines

But after some thinking for a few weeks, I eventually decided to include my very own "Yuu" for TWST

And I actually have two fun facts about Yuuta!

Yuuta's name was originally going to just be "Yuu", but I decided to change it

His last name "Sumeragi" was chosen after I watched an episode of Kakegurui-

5. Lumina's V/A was going to be Natsumi Okamoto, who played Nishinotoin Yuriko in the live action Kakegurui series on Netflix. I then decided to change it to Nanami Karin, the actual voice actress of Yuriko

7. Victoria and Malleus's relationship was originally going to be more "Forbidden lovers" than "Enemies to lovers"

My reasons for the sudden change in romance arc is more based on how I'd view their relationship so-

But it's mostly because I thought enemies to lovers would suit them more since Vic's family seems like the type to teach her that the Draconias aren't to be trusted and that she shouldn't talk with them. And vice versa

Plus I listened to Ruelle's "War of hearts" way too many times and I always associate that song with Malleus and Victoria

8. Victoria was originally going to be inspired by the Evil/Beautiful queen's crow

Now I really didn't have much of a reason to change my mind

But upon further inspection on how my characterization for Victoria and ESPECIALLY her unique magic, I realized that it would probably be for the best that she'd be inspired by the magic mirror instead of the crow

Plus, the magic mirror played a bigger role in the story. Moreso than the crow
