the  house  of  florescu  has  produced  a  long  line  of  warriors.  their  banner  flew  in  the  troop  of  kingmakers  that  stuck  close  to  vasile  dragova  during  the  rebellion,  cementing  a  spot  for  house  florescu  in  bran  keep  for  the  entirety  of  the  dragova  dynasty.  mihir  florescu  climbed  the  ranks  of  the  king's  army  quickly  as  a  young  man.  pairing  that  with  weight  of  his  name,  when  the  position  to  protect  the  king  became  available,  he  was  a  strong  contender. 

mihir  has  now  been  the  king's  personal  guard  for  five  years.  in  those  five  years,  many  in  bran  keep  have  gotten  used  to  his  presence,  a  silent  sentinel.  there  was  a  rumor  once,  that  when  word  of  the  height  of  the  border  tension  got  to  the  king,  someone  saw  lord  florescu's  jaw  clench,  and  the  reaction  was  so  notable  courtiers  talked  of  it  for  months. 

though  he  is  quiet  in  public,  and  is  smart  enough  to  never  offer  his  own  opinion,  the  people  often  notice  king  stefan  speaking  quietly  to  the  boy.  at  the  head  of  the  table,  or  the  turn  of  the  hall,  it  wasn't  an  unusual  sight  for  the  king  to  be  turned  towards  his  guard,  hand  covering  his  mouth  from  view  as  he  whispered  what  all  assumed  were  the  secrets  of  the  realm.

years  of  service  to  the  king  has  not  dampened  house  florescu's  ambition.  they  participated  in  the  rebellion  in  the  first  place  for  hopes  they  would  come  out  at  a  higher  station.  mihir's  father's  hungry  eyes  watch  the  border,  desperately  waiting  for  an  exploit  to  make  itself  known  so  he  could  capitalize  on  his  son's  fortuitous  position.

the  florescu  are  a  broody,  quiet  bunch.  his  father's  envy  matched  his  mother's  neuroses  and,  growing  up,  the  house  walked  a  tightwire.  any  siblings,  half  siblings,  or  cousins  would  know  of  mihir's  desperation  to  please  his  father  as  a  young  man.  they  would  be  one  of  the  few  that  are  able  to  picture  the  strong  and  polite  protector  of  the  king  begging  his  father  to  watch  please  father  i've  practiced  so  hard.

being  born  of  a  noble  house  that  continuously  rises  above  its  station  was  sure  to  give  all  the  florescu  children  a  prime  choice  of  bride  or  groom.  but  mihir's  station  has  afforded  him  little  time  to  think  on  fulfilling  his  duty  to  his  family  marrying  someone  that  could  mind  the  estate.  his  father's  age  is  a  growing  concern  for  the  florescu  house,  so  mihir  must  marry  at  some  point.  a  possible  match  has  been  offered,  but  with  danger  around  every  corner,  mihir  isn't  so  sure  he  should  add  another  body  to  his  list  of  those  to  protect.

mihir  spent  the  beginning  of  his  career  in  the  king's  army  patrolling  the  border.  he  met  and  fought  with  many  there  that  he  considers  family  now.  there  is  an  implicit  trust  there  that  he  normally  would  know  the  dangers  of.  but  those  who  fought  with  him  know  his  secrets,  his  weaknesses,  how  he  smells  after  marching  days  in  the  sun.  he  cannot  look  past  that  so  easily,  which  could  be  used  against  him  in  the  coming  days.

his  position  as  the  king's  personal  guard  means  he  has  been  in  close  quarters  with  both  the  royal  family  and  their  guards.  whilst  most  others  would  feel  his  cold  suspicion  on  the  regular,  those  in  this  group  would  get  to  see  a  different  side  of  him  in  the  shadows  of  a  room  when  the  door  is  locked.  when  his  shoulders  unclench.  when  a  joke  at  the  dinner  table  cracks  his  face  into  the  smallest  smile.  he  thinks  of  these  people  as  his  charges  and  coworkers,  yes,  but  there  is  an  easiness  there.
