An Alpha Site for Yopisode -- I Can't Wait!
I faced a challenge in November 2013. In December, I had a vision for a startup idea that would answer that challenge. I want to create a social network for TV series addicts so we could find each other and connect. My goal was to have a beta version of a product by April 2014.
Ok, that’s nonsense. I can’t wait that long to have something out! I don’t have all the developers in the world to get the beta before April, but there is something called ALPHA VERSION.
What am I saying? I am saying that before I continue to code the beta, I will go online, collect open source codes, steal some other codes (sorry about that), do some other crazy things, and put up a site where we can share our love of TV. This will be a user-inspired product -- while we are sharing -- we will be developing our platform together. Okay, I'm almost done with the alpha, you’ll see it soon! I can't wait!
Best Regards,
Otto Founder, Yopisode
(I was serious about stealing codes -- I can’t do magic, but I can at least steal codes for an alpha. If you can’t associate with platform that uses stolen codes, signup for the beta version that’s coming soon at teaser.yopisode.com.)

Why Yopisode? The Story Behind the Idea.
Yopisode is a platform for TV series addicts (and mildly-addicted people) to share their TV series experiences.
The idea to start Yopisode came to me in November 2013 when I was cut off from TV because I could not pay my TV bill. I wanted another way to keep in touch with my favorite shows without actually watching them. I knew I would miss the real visual part of it, but would soon get back to watching them normally.
Asking people to explain summaries of the previous day’s episodes was not going to be efficient, so I turned to the one place I always went to when I search for something -- Google. I Googled left, right and center to find a place where someone blogged on every episode of several TV series, so I could find blogs and discussions about my favorite Philippine Telenovelas and Nigerian Soap Operas. I could find anything organized. I saw some blogs with some information, but most were inconsistent.
I also needed a place where I could meet people like me who wanted to talk about their favorite series, but I only found scattered communities on Facebook and some hard-to-organize hash tags on Twitter.
I also noticed a friend making a long phone call, talking about an episode on MyTV Africa -- Philippine Telenovela, and I began to have an idea.
It dawned on me that the best place where I could catch up with every TV series is on a platform where users share everything they feel in a structured way. If we could share summaries of old episodes, spoilers, screen shots, opinions, perspectives, etc about our favorite TV series, we would connect with people who share the same passions, interest and opinions, and we could form deeper connections with them in our interests, history, education and many other aspects.
TV series are about stories, and they are continuous stories. They are just like real life. So I believe people who connect because they have similar opinions, perspectives and interests in TV series must share a lot more in common. I realized that if I can’t find such a place, then I will have to build one.
In December, I developed the idea into a product concept and asked people if they could find such a product useful. Apart from one objection about spoilers on the platform -- over 40 people said they would use it!
So now, what am I doing? I am putting everything together to build it. My goal is to make sure we have a beta version by April so that TV series addicts like me and you can connect and talk about what we love about stories.
