If you add a tag to Tumblr's built-in filtering system, it will filter based on the ORIGINAL TAGS OP PUT ON THE POST.
I learned this awesome fact last week that I don't think many people know about. Instead of shaming you for not knowing, like I was shamed, I'm just gonna enthusiastically TELL you!
This is amazing. This means that if a TERF post tagged "terf safe" escapes containment and ends up on your dash, you'll know. Probably none of the reblogs are tagged with anything suspicious, but because the OP tagged it "terf safe", your filter will catch it.
This is also great for folks who need to make sure they avoid potential triggers - I know that when I reblog I'm often lazy and do not tag triggers. I'm a lot more careful when I'm the OP of the post, though, and I bet that applies to most folks.

Quick tutorial for colored text
Gear icon on the right
Tumblr media
Click it and scroll down to Text Editor
Tumblr media
Change from Rich text to HTML
Tumblr media
Make your colored text, I prefer this website because it allows you to do a cool fade. And then paste the code the site gives you into the post (note, it will look messy and sometimes say there's errors.)
Tumblr media
I recommend to change back to Rich text to preview what it looks like before hitting post
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have fun now! Go off and color some text! I made this post because people asked how I did it.
keep in mind the HTML thing will count for your 'text block limit' thing APPARENTLY

@tealmaskmybeloved
I have figured out the text gradient thingy!
Basically it's (ab)using tumblr's HTML formatting option, where each character in text is a slightly different color than the previous one in order to get a smooth gradation.
The code looks like this.
Tumblr media
However there is a website(I love the internet) that handles all the tedium for you!
Here is the link to the site.
I think this is how that post did it because looking at the HTML of the post it's the same format.
Tumblr media
It only lets you do a max of 3 colors however, you need to do the math for more colors(like I did in the example)

To everyone who follows me
People get custom theme for your tumblr blog, there are many freely available in tumblr marketplace, you need to use a desktop mode in chrome browser to set it up but after you set it up you get a free tumblr subdomain !!! And not only that, you can also turn of the default theme for mobile view which will enable your custom theme in mobile view when visited from the free tumblr subdomain !!!
On top of it, you can add the subdomain to google search console so that it will eventually be searchable from google as well !!! There is way to add it to bing too through bing webmasters. Happy blogging !!!!

MOBILE APP FRIENDLY PAGE LINKS
Adding https://href.li/? to the start of your urls to pages will force the tumblr app to treat the link like an offsite url, which will open the page inside the mobile browser.
This is best paired with responsive themes and/or page coding, which utilises modern HTML and other coding languages to enable a page to adapt to various screen resolutions, making the pages easier to view on a wider range of devices.
For those not versed in web development: What this prefix does is hides the referrer, which tells websites where the link you clicked to access their site is located.

Fixing a very certain annoyance
Have you ever noticed that on web, Tumblr shows the number of unread posts in the tab title, but doesn't include Activity in that number?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made a userscript to fix that. It also has an option to show only the unread notification count in the tab title, which might be useful if you always have unreads in Home anyway:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can find it on Greasy Fork or GitHub. You'll need a userscript manager (like TamperMonkey) to install userscripts.

TUMBLR KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
HEY
did you know about the keyboard shortcuts for browsing tumblr?
“J” and “K” advance/rewind your dashboard or the tumblr you’re reading to the next/previous post. Extremely convenient.
On your dash, alt+r automatically reblogs the post you are viewing. It’s completely frictionless if all you need is the reblog. alt+c brings up the new post interface.
When I search it up, here are some others listed: some, but not all, work for me. Would you reblog and share which ones work for you?
l = Like a post.
j or k = View next or previous post.
s = Share a post.
Enter = Open a post's blog.
n = View a post's notes.
/ = Search.
Alt + c = Compose a new post.
Alt + r = Reblog a post.

Friendly reminder to anyone on Tumblr
You can filter tags and content to keep from viewing things that might be triggering or even to prevent spoilers for something
If you are on mobile:
You are going to want to go to your account (it's that little person looking button at the bottom of the page)
Then you are going to click the settings button (the little cog shaped one at the top of the page)
You will then click on Account Settings
Scroll down until you see 'content you see' it should be under dashboard preferences
Once you click that you should see 'filtered tags and 'filtered post content'
Click the + new button and add whatever it is you no longer want to see (you can remove these at any time so don't feel concerned about putting something in that you'll want to view again later)
Restart Tumblr and you should see the changes implemented instantly
If you are on desktop:
You are going to click the cog shaped button that says settings
You will then click on the account button that should have appeared under the settings button
Scroll down till you see 'content you see' which should be under the birthday section you should see 'filtered tags and 'filtered post content'
Click on the little pencil icon then add whatever it is you no longer want to see (you can remove these at any time so don't feel concerned about putting something in that you'll want to view again later)
Refresh the page and you should instantly see the changes take effect
Filtered tags as the name implies filters out any content that has been appropriately tagged with what you are trying to not see.
Filtered post content however filters out any content that simply has the mention of the word you chose to no longer see.
Have fun and stay safe y'all

There's a special character (from a Caucasian language IIRC) that looks like a comma; remind me to copypaste it in when I'm on my computer.
I love how you can put literally anything in the tags except for commas. You can have whole-ass ideas and thoughts and messages in there... Just not structured and coherent ones.

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)
