💜 surprise kiss / impulsive kiss - Tsukishima x Hinata or Tsukishima x Kageyama? Totally fine if no!
send a heart and a ship for a brief snippet (is 950 words brief? idk and idc cause, if you've been around much you know, i do what i want. also, why chose when i can do both?)
Kageyama is waiting for him to finish changing after the neighborhood game — a game he let Kageyama talk in into joining because he is so absolutely gone for this idiot — because he knows that Kei doesn’t really like walking home alone after the games, that he gets too lost in his own mind going over mistakes and whatnot even though it’s just a silly neighborhood game. So Kageyama waits for him even though they live in opposite parts of town and it takes him twice as long to get back home after games simply because he waits for Kei.
Kageyama doesn’t even look up when Kei stops next to him at the bench. He just holds out his hand for Kei’s bag — another ridiculous thing he does that Kei lets him do because he doesn’t understand Kageyama’s need to do things like this except he does but that’s too much thinking for right now — and wriggles his fingers when Kei doesn’t immediately hand it over.
Kei can’t think about it. Because if he thinks about it he’ll talk himself out of it like the hundreds of other times he’s had the urge and thought just a little too hard about it. Which is easier said than done because he thinks about everything. He’s not impulsive. He doesn’t just go with his instincts, no matter how good those instincts tend to be.
Well. That’s a lie. His instincts are pretty spot on when he has the right people at his back and side. People he can trust. People who trust him just as much as he trusts them.
That’s the thought that finally convinces him that next time he feels like this, the next time the warmth bubbles up in his chest, he’ll give in and just do it.
So he does.
Kei nudges Kageyama’s foot and steps between his legs when Kageyama widens them, going along with Kei’s whims even though this is nothing they’ve done before. Kageyama glances up at him finally, eyebrows scrunching together in confusion, and Kei leans down and kisses him.
Kageyama kisses him back.
It’s different with Hinata, it always is. But at the same time, somehow, it’s not all that different at all.
He’s waiting outside Kageyama’s apartment for the both of them. They’re going to some party for one of Hinata’s teammates and Kei only vaguely remembers the reasons for the party let alone the convoluted reasoning that Hinata had come up with for why Kei, of all people, needs to come with. He’s halfway through a message to Kenma about their plans for next month when he hears the familiar pounding of Hinata’s feet along the steps and then Hinata is hanging from his back, trying to wrestle his phone away from him.
It’s easier to just let Hinata take it. He doesn’t even bother looking to see what Hinata adds to the message before sending it and then shoving Kei’s phone into his own pocket. Kenma is just as used to Hinata inserting himself into their conversations these days as Kei is. He looks down at Hinata’s grin and, just like with Kageyama, he doesn’t let himself think about it this time. Doesn’t let himself hesitate or doubt.
It’s different, because Hinata is already stretching up towards him. It’s the same, because Hinata kisses him back.
If Kageyama is surprised to see Hinata sprawled on his couch when they get back from a neighborhood game he doesn’t show it. He just shakes the bags in his hand to get Hinata’s attention and nods toward the kitchen counter. Hinata hops up with a grin and hurries to join Kageyama at the counter. Kei finishes taking off his shoes and hanging up his jacket before he flops down on the couch Hinata had just vacated. There’s food but he’s never too hungry until much later after games. He knows that Kageyama will stick his food in the fridge for later.
He hears them bickering behind him but he doesn’t really pay attention until Hinata goes suspiciously quiet. He turns and peeks over the back of the couch just as Hinata quietly asks, “What do you mean I have my own?”
“This is mine and Tsukishima’s. Yours is in the other bag.”
“What?”
“What do you mean what? I’m eating mine. Tsukishima’s goes in the fridge for later. Yours is in the other bag for you to do whatever with.”
“You bought me food?”
Kageyama looks past Hinata and meets Kei’s gaze but he can only shrug because he’s not sure what Hinata’s point is either.
“We always buy you food,” Kei says, turning back to the tv.
“You didn’t even know I would be here, that I would be back today.”
“We never do. Still buy you the food anyway. You never noticed before?”
Kageyama lets out a startled noise from the kitchen and before Kei can even turn to look Hinata is leaning over the couch and planting a kiss on his cheek, just shy of his lips.
“You two are the best,” Hinata says, breath warming Kei’s cheek.
Kei turns enough to return the kiss and then watches Hinata push off from the couch and hurry back into the kitchen. Hinata leaps at Kageyama and starts peppering his face with kisses when Kageyama catches him.
When he finally finds his balance and manages to get one of his hands up to catch Hinata’s chin, Kageyama kisses Hinata. Kei shakes his head and turns back to the tv again, patting around on the couch for the remote. He won’t interrupt them. If they’re too busy making out then he can pick the movie for once.

I’m trying to find a fic I read on AO3. It was a college future fic and I don’t remember if tsukishima and Hinata were roommates or not, I don’t think so, but Hinata kept asking tsuki to tutor him but it turned out that Hinata was actually smart enough and just wanted to spend time with him.
Edit:
Tumblr media
Thank you! I feel so dumb because I literally have that in my bookmarks but I mostly just remembered the bug tattoos part of the fic and not the other half 😅😅

daikita
osadai! somewhat a new one but i like it... guys who like to eat
osamu ships in general i also like bokuosa. which is partially motivated by the fact that i think it's funny when guys who are friends with atsumu date his brother.

bokuasa
asaken
aoasa

kanoka's little sister and natsu <- i don't think this counts bc it is basically an oc x character ship lmao but i am including it anyway. can u imagine. i have posts about it somewhere. (shout out to sou and lyz again btw)
debatable rarepairs but it would feel wrong not to mention them:
oisuga
kurodai
mikashou (they technically meet the fic count requirement but like. they're also canon. so i don't think it counts)
tsukkiyamakagehina ? idk how many fics they have. i think my perception of them being popular is skewed by my mutuals tbh. tsukkikage, tsukkihina, and yamayama fall individually under this btw. (didn't want to listen them all even though it's like. three)
i have gained an appreciation of tsukkihina through my mutuals thank u mutuals

Karasuno MasterList (WIP)
All the karasuno (kagehina, tsukkiyama, daisuga, etc + rare pairs) ship fics I’ve recommended up to 02/13/2022! To count how many there are, control f “//“ (without the “ ofc, but with a space at the end) and it’ll tell you :) (from my count, there should be around 22 but that doesn’t account for each individual fic in a series!)
DaiSuga
How to Manage by SuggestiveScribe (E) 39.3k // ok so yea yea we established, I’m basic, BUT can you blame me? This might’ve been one of the first DaiSuga’s I’ve read and I have no regrets. Literally, this fic series is one of my favorites, so OF COURSE I had to add it somewhere :D Honestly, I don’t even think you need to read the first one to understand what’s going on, but I would just cause it has some funny DaiSuga moments too ;) This is explicit for PWP, so proceed with caution HAHA.
Add New Contact by booksong (G) 8.5k // this one! It’s so cute and poor Daichi LOL. He really out here doing the most,,, Anyway, we love tech Suga, and a nice dash of snarky tsukki (LOL is he salt, yes yes he is). It’s very fluff and pine, so if you want to read Daichi having gay panic like 24/7, go right ahead LOL.
butterfly in the subway by bigspoonnoya (T) 62.8k // please, I’ve said other fics are a big mess BUT this one might just take the cake. It’s a mixture of ships with DaiSuga being the main one, so read it even if you don’t love DaiSuga (and then you’ll love them LOL). It’s like everything that could go wrong, goes wrong but the AsaNoya in this was SO cute!
you can only take what you can carry by skittidyne (T) 4.2k // Suga is strong. That’s it. That’s literally the whole fic LMAO. But no seriously, I wish I could’ve been there in person to ogle at the muscles cause like think about it. ANyway, Yachi is best. (if this made no sense, go read the fic LOL)
You’d fit my lonely arms so perfectly by boxofwonder (G) 25.1k // Wrong number, “Oh. You’re. Not Asahi.” Calmed down enough that he can speak again, Daichi takes a deep breath, his smile settling on his face easily and wide. “Not as far as I know, no.”Suga accidentally calls a stranger instead of his best friend, tells him all about his burned batch of cookies before realising, and that particular mistake might turn out the best one he ever made.
KageHina
***two slow dancers by quietkids (T) 7.7k // this might’ve been, dare I say, my favorite fic on the list,,, I just really loved Kageyama’s POV (AND CHARACTERIZATION!!!!) so much and I also love non linear plots and it was just written so well and it made me so sad and I love angst and yeah!!11!!1!!1!! I literally fell in love with this fic and again it was just SO freaking good!!! And also I loved the other Kageyama’s in this so much.
I like the way your clothes smell by Mysecretfanmoments (NR) 75.2k // I think this is one of the only fics I’ve read for this ship… LOL oops idk something about reading relationships between first year’s in high school irks me. just first year’s in Haikyuu dating at any time…. Anyways I don’t really remember reading this one (again my memory is crap LOL) but it had been recommended by people before so knock yourselves out LOL. Also this one doesn’t have a rating, but it’s got some explicit-ish stuff in it, so read tags and warnings for sure!
Grit Your Teeth, Pull Your Hair, Paint The Walls Black And Scream ‘Fuck The World’. by LahraTeigh (T) 1k // this is actually one fic in a three part series. Each are pretty short, but they are continuations/pov changes of the first one. This has references to self harm, so please proceed with caution.
stan twitter, meet hinata shoyou by ichweissnichtauch (T) 13k // Twitter, meiji milk pls sponsor me @kageyamatobio see you on the court @ninjashoyou 6.5k Retweets 31.6k Likes 2.0k Comments here comes the sun @ninjashoyou lets do it baby i know the law 3.6k Retweets 27.3k Likes 1.8k Comments or, hinata shoyou’s v-league debut, as seen on twitter (ft. snapshots of v-twt).
teething on a shotgun by sporadic_obsession (E) 2.5k // I liked the introduction of this one. It got me engaged pretty quickly, and the ending was very in character LOL. There’s mention of shooting, injury, and death but it IS an assassin fic so that’s to be expected LOL.
Hiraeth by primela (NR) 6.4k // the switching POV’s in this one made me put it LOL. I liked seeing both POV’s during the scenes (and what a shame for Hinata not being able to focus on abs LOL) and I think it really added character to the fic! Again, there’s shooting, blood, and death but what’s new heh.
TSUKKIYAMA
by any other name by parenthetic (renaissance) (T) 4.8k // as much as I love tsukkiyama I don’t read a lot of their fics for some reason (LOL OOPS) but this one hit all the right spots. The way yams is done, with his amazing facial reading abilities, and the way tsukki is so oblivious was so GOOD!
Please, don’t let go by LovelyAkuma (G) 2.4k // this DOES have a happy ending and nothing too graphic happens but read the tags cause there still IS an attempt. Tsukishima is best boy in this, but poor Yamaguchi bless his heart :(
Mystery Guy by Pepper_Moon (T) 11.1k // Twitter + YouTube/Streamer, Popular YouTuber YamaGucci is livestreaming one day, when a voice off-camera speaks and makes him flustered. Let’s just say what comes next is pure chaos.
shikaku (assassin) by GoandSeek (E) 10.2k // this one was my favorite of all of these :) i really loved the interactions between Tsukishima and Yamaguchi from the beginning, and the little additions of Kuroo slander was the cherry on top LOL. It’s got some smut/kinky play (LOL) in it (along with the shooting, death, and blood), so just a little FYI!
Close Enemies by MyTrashyWriting (T) 2.8k // this fic leans more towards the side of fast burn (idk if that’s the right term LOL) but the build-up is still pretty good. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting the plot (though I probably should’ve seen it coming but for some reason I didn’t hehe) so I enjoyed the resolution LOL. This one is the least graphic, only a little bit of shooting, blood, and death (but also an intense make out sesh) heh, but also, some KuroDai if you squint ;)
MULTI/Rare pairs
Crumbling Foundations by Captain_Hughes_ZU, ToshiChan (T) 106.3k // I was debating whether or not to put this fic cause it actually doesn’t even have the angst tag (which I personally think it should). Honestly, it’s more a trauma fic than an angst fic idk I just wanted to put it somewhere because it’s written super well and although it was technically a ‘happy ending’ the interviews after prove else. Despite only being rated T, it’s got some intense TW so (PLEASE READ THE TAGS, THERE ARE SENSITIVE TOPICS!!!!)
(EnnoFuta) 101 Uses for Cornstarch (Culinary or Otherwise) by parenthetic (renaissance) (T) 2.6k // HI THIS IS SO FUNNY AND CUTE. Also the pick up lines were killing me, I was laughing so hard but yeah. I was not expecting the way they ended up meeting but also I love Kinoshita and Narita HAHA.
(TsukkiHina) He’s Collecting Bugs on His Body; by tmntransformer (T) 15.8k // tbh if you squint, there’s a whole bunch of rare pairs in this LOL. But the main thing from this fic is DENIAL. LOL. Also bugs LOL.
(OiYama) Beans Are Spilled by rubysilk98 (G) 24.7k // bro am I trying to tear TsukkiYama apart? No LOL, but it feels like it. It’s the getting together fic of Oikawa and Yamaguchi and the title is very fitting. Also consent is important >:(
(OiSuga) How (Not) To Share A Bathroom by renaissance (T) 9.8k // passive aggressive sticky notes,,,, but it’s really cute and made me go akjfdjksa at the end. Also, their friends are a holes to them LOL. I mean give them some pity right?
(BokuAkaKuroTsukki) Turning Heads by ahhelga for Smokey310 (T) 2.8k // uh the only thing I have to say is the secondhand embarrassment was uh intense LMFAO,,,,, no like I had to stop like three times cause I started dying a little on the inside,,,,,

Haikyuu Fic rec list!
I'm avoiding writing by making this list so let's go
why do i feel like it's (fake) love by izucaii.
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Kageyama Tobio/Hinata Shouyou
This is such a good fic. Basically it's timeskip Hinata asking Kageyama to pretend to be his boyfriend for a bit because Heitor thinks they're dating. It's so fluffy and I love it so much and the scene where they all play beach volleyball together is super sweet!
-
Betting on Emotions by holdontoyourhulahoops
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Bokuto Koutarou/Kuroo Tetsurou
Another fake dating fic. Kuroo agrees to pretend to date Bokuto so Bokuto can win some cash. It's sweet as well as angsty and features Kuroken friendship with Kenma who has had enough of Kuroo's pining.
-
Love Alone by MoonflowerKuroo
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru
Such a good fic filled with so many great lines. Oikawa gets Hanahaki for Iwaizumi and absolutely does not want to tell him under any circumstance. Featuring oikuroo friendship and a fed up Kuroo.
-
have mercy on me by hiuythn
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru
This is one of the best fics I've ever read. Iwaizumi gets Hanahaki for Oikawa in this fic. It's filled with humor and angst and the characters are honestly so well written.
-
In April by hiuythn
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru
Hiuythn's fics are so good, I recommend all of them honestly. Iwaizumi pines for Oikawa except he's completely unaware that he's doing so. For awhile. It's once again filled with humor and angst and if you love slow burns then this is definitely for you.
-
Something Bigger by Ellessey
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Kageyama Tobio/Tsukishima Kei
Tsukishima works at the surfboard shop and ends up teaching Hinata and Kageyama how to surf. It's written from Tsukishima's perspective and the way Ellessey writes his thoughts honestly deserves an award. It's filled with angst and fluff, it's lovely.
-
Ridiculous by the_ghostwriter96
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Tsukishima Kei
Hinata keeps trying to try on Tsukishima's glasses except Tsukishima won't let him. Maybe he should. I literally can't say more than that without spoiling it, it's such an awesome fic and it's also a slow burn.
-
Caught up in Weirdness by tmntransformer
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Tsukishima Kei
Hinata has been disappearing every two days out of the week and Tsukishima is determined to find out why. Basically Hinata teaches Tsukishima how to swim and it's filled with fluff and a bit of angst. It's also a first years as third year fic and features kurodai+kenma as Hinata's friends.
-
inductive charging by collieflower
Rating: General Audience
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Bokuto Koutarou/Kozume Kenma
Fem! Bokuken fic. It's short and sweet honestly and very fluffy. I don't know how to explain that reading this fic feels like sitting in a sunny spot when the rest of your house is cold.
-
Impulse by Metis_Ink
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Pairing: Shirabu Kenjirou/Semi Eita
I've only read so many Semishira fics, but this one takes the cake. It has second year Semi and first year Shirabu and well, you know. Basically Semi can't stop punching people in the face (both accidentally and not) and Shirabu's a little shit.
-
step by step by bluefilaments
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Tsukishima Kei
I read this fic specifically for the tag 'this fic is my own personal hell,' 'please enjoy your stay.' Tsukishima and Hinata swap bodies and try to find a way to get back. This fic is so funny and had me laughing my ass off several times but it's also filled with fluff and angst and is also a slow burn.
-
That's it for this list! If y'all have any haikyuu fic recs then I'd be happy to read them!

“The next few days, Yachi makes sure he doesn't forget about Hinata Shouyo. ” (HQ Secret Santa 2021)
Doctor’s Visit, Ch2
Read Chapter 1 | Ao3
Tsukishima's week has been hectic and by week he means since last last Sunday when he was called in because a coworker got sick and well, he hasn't had much luck in getting a break. He's told he'll be able to get a break this weekend, but he knows that's not always true. Emergencies happen and while the clinic isn't really short-staffed, it's also nearing the holidays. The time, in his opinion, when people become stupider.
He sighs and mutters, "I hate the holidays," then he looks up from his desk and says, "What happened to the next one?"
Yachi stands in front of him with a clipboard and the paperwork of his next patient. Hinata Shouyo is written at the top in very clean and elegant writing. He's not sure why but he gets the feeling his grandparents would approve of this penmanship
Yachi looks worried as she explains, "His name is Hinata Shouyo. It looks like he hit his head at work. He's been sitting in the lobby holding his neck. He doesn't look well."
Tsukishima is only half paying attention, reading the details that this Hinata wrote down. It doesn't seem like it's too serious, but one can never know with blows to the head. They can be really nasty and he's glad that at least this patient had the sense to come to the clinic and get checked. Even though it's after the fact. Better late than never.
"Bring him in," he tells Yachi and while she does, he takes a moment to rub at his eyes.
When Yachi returns he's standing and back in professional mode. While he can't be as sunshine and rainbows as some of his peers, he can be civil. No need to worry or harm the patients, although there have been many tempting times to hurl insults. He raises a brow at the man who walks in. His parents chose a good name.
The checkup goes well for the most part and he's surprised that Hinata can pick up on some of his silent insults because really, who gets hurt while playing with five year olds? He looks like he's a pretty lithe person, but he supposes that appearances are deceiving.
But if he's being honest, he's also arrested in those moments. They don't make much eye contact since he's making sure Hinata is alright (his hands are small but hold strength, his neck surprisingly warm) but when he turns, Hinata is watching, staring, and his eyes are so bright and piercing, they make him stall.
He hands Hinata his prescriptions and says, “Just take this to the front desk, they’ll give you the medicine. Take it easy for the next few days. And maybe tell the kids to go easy on you next time. Any questions?” He wouldn't have spoken like this to any other patient, but there's something about Hinata that makes him think he won't start trouble, well, if he even catches the insult. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes over his head
But what Hinata says next completely derails him, “How long have you been a doctor here?”
It's not really something he's been asked frequently. If anything, he only gets it from upset parents and older patients who always want a more "experienced" doctor. But there doesn't seem to be any malice in his question, just curiosity so he says, “Just over a year.”
“You look really young, how old are you?” and that's what Tsukishima was hoping wouldn't be asked. It's not that he doesn't want to reveal his age, but he's already the youngest doctor in the clinic, and he'll admit that he does have a connection, but he's also qualified. He spins the pen in his hand and smiles in a way he knows pleases the nurses, “I meant any questions about your well-being.”
But his attitude doesn't seem to deter Hinata and when his questions eventually turn more personal and Yachi's laughs become bolder, he realizes that Hinata isn't trying to belittle him. He was never really the type to get confessions so he's not sure how to react, and his traitorous body flushes and his heart starts to beat a bit faster. He scowls.
“Ok, one last serious question," Hinata promises and Tsukishima looks at him warily.
He didn't think Hinata could look brighter, but apparently this is him at his dullest. He grins wide, “Do you want to get a coffee? Or tea? I don’t really like coffee or tea but I was thinking we could-”
“Good BYE,” he emphasizes and is glad when Hinata does as he's told. He slams the door shut and Yachi is full blown giggling behind him. He turns around and she takes a breath to say, "You're blushing, oh my god, does that mean you think he's cute?"
He remembers the Yachi of when he first arrived at the clinic and misses how quiet and scared (of him) she used to be, "No." But he does take off his glasses to rub at his eyes, two curious and piercing eyes looking at him from the darkness.
The rest of the day is completely dull compared to that one visit, but he does manage to take a nap for a few minutes during lunch. He wakes up to a small bento from Yachi at his desk. He raises a brow at her but thanks her
"I knew you wouldn't bring a lunch today either and since I had extras," she says while already eating her own share, which the exact same size as his. He checks the time, making sure he has enough time to eat
----
The next few days, Yachi makes sure he doesn't forget about Hinata Shouyo.
They're having lunch one day when she says, "I wonder how Hinata is doing. He really had some trouble that day, remember how he was holding his neck?" She mimics Hinata but her face is completely miserable and Tsukishima can't help but smile.
"I'm sure he didn't look that miserable," he says. When Yachi smirks, he can't help but feel like he's lost.
"Really? How did he look then?" And his mind immediately conjures Hinata holding his neck after he'd tried to tilt it back. Yes, he'd been in pain but his posture had mostly been good. His hair had been lively, fluffy even, his skin warm, his eyes bright, and his lips-
He frowns and closes his bento, thanking Yachi once more, "For the lunch, your company has been less than stellar lately."
That only makes her laugh, "You don't like anyone's company."
It's true. He'd rather be by himself.
The next time she bring him up they're both on a quick fifteen minute break and he takes this chance to get a coffee.
"So why didn't you take him up on his date?"
She is so to the point that day that he nearly drops his coffee. He frowns, "You know that's unethical."
She has her own drink in hand and he recognizes it as a hot chocolate from the vending machine. But she's relentless, "Ok, what if you met him at like, the grocery store or at a cafe like he said, what if he asked you out, would you say yes?"
He scrunches his nose in defiance and lifts his coffee to his mouth, letting the aroma wake him up. He'd been called in again, his weekend rest ruined, "Why are you so invested in this? He probably said that to be cheeky."
She hums and Tsukishima worries about what she'll say next. His worry is correct when she says, "But did you think he was cute?"
He sighs and starts walking back to his office, "Our break is almost over." But he can tell he's blushing slightly, not just because he suddenly feels the heat on his ears, but because Yachi is smiling, a bounce in her steps.
The next time he's ready for Yachi's questioning, but she doesn't bring up Hinata. Instead, she says, "There's this really nice cafe a quick walk from here, by the grocery store. Their hot chocolate is so good! And they make some of the cutest latte art."
It seems innocent enough until, "It's the perfect place for a date, don't you think?"
He inwardly groans but smiles politely, "I'm sure. Did you and Tadashi go there?"
Yachi nods and starts to give him a detailed account of how her boyfriend found it, the really handsome staff, and the delicious food. But he also wonders how this pertains to Hinata. He was pretty sure he'd mentioned a kindergarten internship so he wouldn't really have time for another part-time job, right? He scowls at where his thoughts stray and decides he's overworked.
"I'm taking a break," he tells Yachi as he takes off his glasses and heads outside.
He finally gets to have a day off on Monday and he spends it sleeping most of the day. When he returns on Tuesday, he can feel Yachi watching him for longer than necessary. When the staring doesn't stop by mid-day he asks, "What is it?"
Yachi, in almost a whisper, asks, "Did you go?"
He is confused, "Where?"
Yachi sighs in disappointment, "Where else? The cafe!"
He shuffles some papers on his desk and stares at her with a deadpan expression, "Why would I go?"
Yachi looks too innocent when she says, "To see if the coffee is good?"
Tsukishima sighs. He doesn't have many vices but when you work hours like they do, it's nearly impossible not to get addicted to caffeine, and even when he knows it won't help, especially with how long he's been drinking it, he can't stop. But more importantly, "You know I try not to drink coffee outside of work hours."
Yachi sighs dramatically, "I know but still!"
Her posture is more subdued for about half the day before he once more sees a fire in her eyes. As they're both heading home that night she says, "The atmosphere is really nice too! You like quiet places too, right? It's very soothing."
He wraps a scarf around his neck and pulls on his gloves, his jacket and bag already on. Yachi is a bit slower in getting ready
"You must really like this place," he plays along. Then adds, "Is Tadashi picking you up?"
Yachi brightens, "Yes to both questions!"
It's nearing midnight when they finally head outside and meet up with Tadashi, and Tsukishima is glad he can finally get rid of Yachi. He's met Tadashi only a handful of times, his work keeping his social life as nonexistent as possible, but the guy seemed nice and Yachi never complained. And if you asked Tsukishima, they did make a nice couple, Tadashi with his slightly dorky smile and Yachi with her exuberance. They were both sickeningly doting as well
Before they part Yachi yells, "Make sure to go on your next day off!"
Tsukishima doesn't answer but as he's walking home, he thinks that maybe he can concede this one time. And it's not because he's worried or wants to see Hinata. No.
"...so she can stop pestering me."

Sun
Sun - TsukiHina (Tsukishima/Hinata)
Time taken - 20m 0s (exactly, oof!)
Word count - 1000 words
Summary: 5 times Tsukki was Hinata’s sun.
--
1.
The sun is beautiful.
Tsukishima’s smile, when he does actually smile, is soft and warm and it makes you feel happy, too. It brings a golden glow to his face that lights up the entire world.
Hinata, standing next to him, can only think, Ha, so I’m really a place in the sun now.
--
2.
The sun is powerful.
Tsukishima moves fluidly, entire body arching gracefully as he leaps for Kageyama’s toss. He slams the volleyball into the hardwood floor of the court on the other side of the net, that satisfied look in his golden sunlight eyes.
Hinata can’t stop staring. Not even when Tsukishima asks, “What are you looking at, Shrimp?” with that unpleasant smirk on his face.
(All right, so maybe the smirk isn’t that unpleasant. Maybe it’s a little hot, okay?!)
--
3.
The sun is bright.
“Iguana?” Kageyama squints at the tiny board in the museum, struggling with the foreign word. Yamaguchi squeezes his hand comfortingly, and he offers the pinch server a strained smile. Hinata has to give him points for trying.
Tsukishima sighs, correcting, “That’s Iguanodon. See the thumb-like hands it’s got?” He lifts his own hands to show them all, rubbing the thumbs as he speaks. There’s a spark in his eyes as he continues, “Those were for snapping off leaves and twigs from tough plants. From what palaeontologists have put together with old Iguanodon skeletons, it walked on two legs not unlike a T-Rex.”
His eyes are shining as he stares at the ancient fossil like it’s the best thing in the whole world. He speaks excitedly to the group at large, “Look at the dentition – herbivore-like flat teeth for chewing rough plant matter.”
“Eh? Seriously? Why didn’t it eat meat? Wouldn’t it be constipated?” Hinata asks, knowing he’s digging himself into a big hole. He hates biology anyways.
Tsukishima sighs. “Because its genus is an herbivorous one. The cellulose makes the faecal matter soft and easy to move through the rectum and anus, so it’s easy for it to… I’ll be crude and say, take a crap.”
Yamaguchi laughs behind his hand. Kageyama rolls his eyes and makes a puking face. To be frank, what Tsukishima is saying is absolutely disgusting.
But Hinata can’t help but hang onto every word and ask questions, if only to preserve that spark in his eyes a little longer.
--
4.
The sun is unpredictable.
Everything Tsukishima does takes Hinata by surprise these days. This situation is no different.
“Here – let me,” says the much taller boy as Hinata is trying awkwardly to tape his fingers – Daichi had advised him to do so to practise spiking even with stiffer fingers. He takes Hinata’s small hand in his own long, elegant hands and wraps white tape carefully around each digit, pressing the tape in softly as if he’s afraid Hinata will break. When he’s done, he doesn’t let go of Hinata’s hand.
“Tsukishima – I have to go-” Hinata starts, but chokes on his words as Tsukishima does what is unquestionably the most surprising thing that he has done all day.
He lifts Hinata’s hand to his mouth and kisses it.
“See you Sunday, at my house, 7pm sharp,” he says and jogs leisurely off to join Yamaguchi in stretching.
Hinata goes a brilliant shade of scarlet.
He just asked me out?!
Kageyama snorts from where he’s warming up. “Dumbass Hinata. He likes you. Get together already,”
Sh – shut up! As if you and Yamaguchi aren’t-” splutters Hinata.
“We’ve been dating for three weeks, keep up,” Kageyama snickers.
What?!
This day is just too much for Hinata.
--
5.
But above all, the sun is integral to life.
Hinata stumbles blearily into the kitchen, voice thick with sleep as he mumbles a “Morning.”
Soft lips meet his in response.
Hinata has never had to reach so far up to kiss anyone, even Kageyama during that crazy week they dated. But he finds he doesn’t mind it at all, kissing back with equal fervour. He winds his hands into blonde curls and is pulled closer to Tsukishima, practically intertwining with the far taller boy. When they gasp for breath and have to pull apart, there’s a rare smile on Tsukishima’s face.
“I love you,” he tells Hinata, who raises an eyebrow.
“You’re not usually like this – Kei, are you okay?!” he shouts, snapping into panic mode. Tears gather in the corner of his eyes. “Have you got cancer? Are you going to die?! Oh my god my boyfriend’s going to die! I can’t – Kei, don’t-”
“Fiance,” Tsukishima corrects, raising his right hand on which the familiar ring rests.
Shock runs through Hinata.
“You found it,” he says numbly. “You found the ring. When?”
“Today,” Tsukishima says, smiling. “I – I accept, if that wasn’t obvious enough.”
Hinata frowns childishly. “I had a whole speech prepared and everything! You ruined it, Kei!” he pouts.
Tsukishima catches him around the waist, whispering, “Hey now, never said you couldn’t propose,”
Hinata drops to a knee immediately, removing the ring from his too-tall boyfriend’s finger.
“You’re like the sun. Every time you smile, it’s so beautiful.” he starts.
“What do you mean? You’re the sun,” Tsukishima says, raising an eyebrow.
Hinata scowls. “Shut up and let me finish!”
“Okay,” Tsukishima laughs. “Go on.”
Hinata continues, swallowing, “Every time you smile, it’s so beautiful, just like the sun. When you talk about something you love, you become so bright and happy, just like the sun. In volleyball, your blocks and spikes are so powerful, and you’re so strong in your head, just like the sun. You are so unpredictable just like the dawn and dusk.
But most of all, you are integral to my life – just like the sun. So Tsukishima Kei, will you marry me and be in my life forever?”
Tsukishima has his hands on his mouth now, eyes faintly glassy.
“Yes,” he whispers.
And then two stars collide, kissing thoroughly, and through it they feel more than either could say in words.
--
@pan-princess-levy MONNY!! Here is thy TsukiHina fluff! Hope you like it, took me ages to think of something lol BUT I finally hit upon “what if it’s Tsukki who is the sun in Hinata’s eyes?”
also implied YamaKage because... well... YamaKage

You never stop growing, learning, loving, and finding out the world and yourself. Friends can be made even after you've known each other half your lives and sometimes you have to leave and come back to realize that everything will be okay. Just a future fic with Hinata and Tsukishima coming back to visit some old friends and see how their lives are all still fitting together despite the fact that time has a tendency to keep on moving and take them along for the ride.
this was @notsuchasecret's bday fic from me this year (like a month late but hey. it happened.)
features: TsukkiHina, OiTenSuga, AsaMatsu lots of friendship shenanigans and my general brand of chaos and anarchy in a fic, 4.4k words and rated T for potential strong language even though i don't remember actually putting any in, better safe than sorry i suppose

[haikyuu!!]: here comes the sun
all i have to say for myself is that i love tsukki and hinata’s relationship to death and here is my expression of that. hope you all enjoy :)
here comes the sun | tsukihina | 9k | canonverse, friendship, 5+1 things, tsukki avoids hugs like the plague, but he can’t evade hinata’s loving friendship forever :@)
It’s a simple law of nature: the sun and moon can never shine in the sky at the same time.
Or: five times Hinata tries to hug Tsukishima and the one time Tsukishima hugs back.
[excerpt]:
While Kei takes a long, satisfying swig of water, Hinata clenches his jaw and stays by the net, gnashing his teeth together in frustration.
“One more!”
Kei turns his head slightly to glance back at him.
“Did you not hear what I said? I’m not staying past that last one,” he replies. He starts walking towards the exit, makes it halfway to the door when he hears the pitter patter of footsteps running up from behind.
“Wha—?”
Hinata jumps and spreads himself across the entryway of the gym, his arms outstretched, barring Kei from leaving.
“One more,” Hinata asserts, his voice going freakishly calm.
Kei scowls. After dealing with Hinata for the last two and a half years, he recognizes what’s going on here at once: the intensity, the certainty, the focus that sets into place when Hinata’s conviction burns so hot, his usual brightness dims itself and lends its energy to pure heat. Kei knows better than to try and dissuade him now.
He takes another look at Hinata’s expression, gleans the rage and frustration written in the furrow of his brows and the lines of his face, understanding dawning on him. Draping a towel around his neck, Kei lets out a sigh.
“Alright, pea brain,” he says. “Just spit it out.”
At this, Hinata blinks and his expression clears into confusion. “Huh?”
“You’re bothered by something, aren’t you?” Kei asks, wiping his forehead with the back of his arm. “I told you I’m not blocking for you anymore, so just spit it out so we can get this over with.”
Hinata’s eyes widen. “D-id you just — are you — are you inviting me to — to share?”
Kei puts a hand on his hip and looks away. “If you’re going to do so, please hurry up before I change my mind.”

Tsukishima x Hinata. Prompt 29 -rubs hands together- sentence number 9
Prompt #29: Breaking up
Sentence #9 “I wish I never met you.”
“I can’t do this anymore. I can’t keep wondering if something’s wrong. I can’t keep wringing my hands and pulling my hair out and questioning whether you want me! ” Hinata’s flushed face looks up at him, his eyes blazing as much as they are tear drowned. “I love you so much but I can’t tell if you care Kei and it’s killing me!” He takes a deep breath, saying more quietly, defeated, “I… I can’t be with you anymore.”
Tsukishima swallows the lump in his throat. He could fight back, try to persuade; fuck, a part of him feels compelled to beg Hinata to take back his words.
But his pride burns those words to ash and what comes out is vitriol; “You can’t tell I care? All I’ve ever done since you blundered your way into my life is fucking care! Volleyball, our friends, our family, you. Just because I don’t fawn, just because I don’t swoon, just because I don’t say a lot doesn’t mean I don’t care! How could you have been with me this long and not understood me at all!”
He’s crying now, can feel the wetness on his cheeks and Hinata’s stunned expression makes him wonder if he’s actually never done so in front of him before. Probably not.
Well, it’s too little too late on both their parts.
He grabs his jacket, pulling it on hard enough to strain a seam or two. The keys in his pocket jangle and he extracts them, wrenching lose the key of their shared apartment and flings it against the wall. “I wish I never met you,” he sneers then storms out the door and out of Hinata’s life forever.

Amicable Amity | Tsukishima-centric, Gen, G, 1.7k
(Alternate Title: The Suffering of Tsukishima Kei)
NaNoWriMo Day 2: 100 Word Drabbles
Summary: Kei mildly tolerates the team at best, gets furiously annoyed by them at worse. The following drabbles exemplify his feelings towards his fellow teammates once he's trapped in a storage room with them.
Warning for Tsukki calling his friends a bunch of slightly ableist(?) names, but I promise he actually likes them.
Read on Ao3
A/N: Each section is a traditional drabble (i.e. exactly 100 words) all stitched together to create this story. Horrifically unbeta’d, so please forgive any mistakes  /o\  Shout out to Pat-friend for listening to me whine about this fic ♥
They were told that the storage room’s lock was broken. They were told that it was going to be replaced by the end of the week. They were told to be careful with it, to have some sort of doorstop ready so people could safely lock away all the equipment without trapping someone inside. They were told this multiple times throughout the week.
Azumane-san already had it happen to him, and no one wanted to repeat that fiasco again. Kei remembers the captain’s tired expression once they got their ace out.
Of course, misfortune enjoys annoying Kei at every opportunity.
“You’re kidding me,” Kei sighs, “the five of us are trapped in here because you two knuckle heads didn’t think to prop it open?”
“You didn’t do it either, Stingyshima!”
“Because I was busy trying to pull you idiots apart before you broke something else!”
“Then what about Yamaguchi?” Kageyama mumbles. His accusing tone makes Kei want to throttle him again.
“I tried stopping the fight between you and Tsukki,” Yamaguchi answers, sounding sheepish.
“It is not Yamaguchi’s fault,” he says sternly, “so don’t you dare try pinning the blame on him.”
“Aw, thanks, Tsukki!”
“Shut up, Yamaguchi.”
“Haha, sorry!”
The storage room is small, definitely not big enough to fit five people comfortably, especially when three of them are over 180 cm.
Kei looks out the window, where lights from outside peek through. They talked about shoving Hinata through it, but the tiny moron angrily argued otherwise. At one point, Kageyama had the audacity to look at Yachi, who was technically the smallest, but Hinata punched him in the arm before he allowed the train of thought continue.
In the end, both of them were too big to fit, so they tried coming up with other ways of escaping.
“SOMEONE OPEN THE DOOR, PLEASE!!” Hinata screams, fists banging on the entrance. “WE’RE TRAPPED!!”
“Shut up, dumbass!” Kageyama barks, and for once Kei is relieved to see The King’s anger come in handy. “Everyone already left to change! Nobody will hear you!”
“You might also break the door...” Yachi adds quietly.
“Wouldn’t that be a good thing?” Hinata asks. “If we break it down maybe we can get out.”
“No,” Kei interjects. “We barely have enough club money to fix the lock, much less replace the entire door, idiot.”
Hinata groans, and Kei rolls his eyes at his childish pout.
Now, they all sit on the dusty floor, the room poorly lit with flickering fluorescents and the smallest bit of streetlight filtering in. Kei and Yamaguchi sit cross-legged in front of Kageyama and Hinata. Next to them, Yachi has her knees brought up to her chin.
Kei isn’t even sure how it happened. One moment, he was trying to stop the two morons from ripping each other’s faces off; the next, Yamaguchi was pulling him away from The (Stupid) King. It wasn’t until he heard the door shut with an echoing SLAM! that he realized he made a big mistake.
The weirdo duo begins bickering about who is actually the dumber one.
“Oh my god, I’m going to die here with the two biggest morons on the planet,” he whines.
Yamaguchi whispers, “Thanks for not calling me an idiot, Tsukki.” Kei can hear the fondness in his voice, and he rolls his eyes.
“I’m not one of the idiots, Tsukishima-kun?” he hears Yachi’s timidly ask.
“God, no,” he immediately answers. Yachi is the smartest person in this room quite frankly. “Tweedle Dumb and Dumber arguing over there are.”
“That’s a little mean,” she says.
He huffs. “Serves them right though...”
The King can bite him for all Kei cares.
He’s stuck-up, overbearing, and super controlling. Kei hasn’t figured out yet if it’s better or worse that Kageyama is a prodigy, which could justify his actions.
What irritates Kei most is constantly being around him. It’s one thing to be annoyed by how good someone is from a distance, when they’re on the other side of the net; it’s completely something else to have them standing right next him on the court.
(Kei pointedly doesn’t think about how frustrating it is to be subpar in comparison. He’d rather fight Kageyama instead.)
“S-so, what do we do?” Yachi eventually wonders, her voice even tinier than usual.
Kei takes a deep breath, closing his eyes. He thinks for a long minute before asking, “Does anyone have their phones?”
“No.”
“Nah.”
“Mine’s in the girls’ change room...”
“I have mine!”
Kei looks at Yamaguchi, grateful for good news. The screen’s light illuminates Yamaguchi’s freckled face when he opens his phone, and he whoops in celebration before typing away.
“I have battery and cell signal! I’ll text Ennoshita-san and hopefully he can open the door!”
He sighs in relief when Yamaguchi announces, “Okay, it sent!”
After a moment, Hinata hums, wondering, “Hey, Yachi-san, how did you get trapped in here with us anyway?”
“Oh!” she squeaks. “I heard the commotion, then I tried helping Yamaguchi-kun break up the fight between Tsukishima-kun and Kageyama-kun.”
She sighs heavily, sounding so disappointed it’s as if she carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. She sniffs, and to Kei’s alarm he realizes that she has tears in her eyes.
“I’m sorry, everyone,” she mumbles eventually, throat hitching. “I should have made sure the door was left open before I helped out –”
“Yachi-san! It’s not your fault!”
Kei honestly doesn’t know how Yachi does it.
She could make better use of her time instead of hanging out with all of them, but she has endless patience and is unfailingly kind.
He remembers when Hinata and Kageyama had that weird fight after their first Tokyo training camp, how heartbroken Yachi seemed whenever she saw them not talking. Kei would have cared less if it weren’t for the fact that their issues translated on-court during games, which meant he was also responsible if they messed up.
He looks at the ceiling, wondering how he wound up looking after them.
Hinata smacks Kageyama on the back of the head.
“Ow!” Kageyama yells. “What’d you hit me for, dumbass?!”
“We should apologize since this is our fault,” Hinata answers. The two of them begin to bicker again but it isn’t long before they bow their heads low.
“We’re sorry, Yachi-san, everyone. We’ve caused a lot of trouble for you.”
“Sorry...” Kageyama quietly adds.
The humility in his voice amuses Kei greatly, so he can’t help but quip, “Wow, how gracious. It’s so rare seeing The King apologize sincerely.”
Kageyama growls, but Yamaguchi cuts them off with a warning. “Tsukki, that’s enough.”
Kei isn’t good with emotional things, he can admit that much. Yamaguchi always deals with that stuff easier than he does.
For the most part, Kei doesn’t care for others. It’s worked for him to mind his own business, to only be involved when it was absolutely necessary. Yamaguchi is the exception to Kei’s rule.
Yamaguchi needs more confidence—Kei’s known this since he met the guy. He meant it when he admitted that Yamaguchi somehow got cooler than him after their confrontation during their second Tokyo training camp.
It’s nice seeing him stand up for himself—against Kei—once in a while.
Yamaguchi nudges his side. “Hey, we should probably apologize too.”
Kei sighs before answering with a grunt. He turns, nodding his head in a shallow bow towards Yachi.
“Sorry, Yachi-san!” Yamaguchi says vehemently.
“Sorry,” he mumbles.
“N-no, no, it’s okay!” Yachi stutters. She sniffs, pulling on her jacket sleeve to wipe her eyes. After, she giggles softly. “I guess we all could have done something differently.”
“That’s true...” Hinata mutters. Yamaguchi hums quietly in agreement.
Kei wants to mention that if the weirdo duo never got into a fight in the first place they’d never be here, but he doesn’t.
Being the moon to Hinata’s sun is not Kei’s favourite thing. He knows that despite his awful technical skills, Hinata’s talent greatly outshines Kei's.
It’s the same as being around Kageyama: it annoys Kei because he has to be around Hinata. They’re on the same team.
He can admit that Hinata is much, much easier to get along with though. Hinata may be an idiot, but at least he’s a personable idiot. Hinata befriended him quickly even though he doesn’t have the warmest personality.
Being the prickly night sky to his affable daylight at least makes sense in that regard.
Yamaguchi’s phone buzzes, his face lighting up once again at the screen’s brightness when he flips it open.
“Ennoshita-san got my text!” he announces. “The third years are on their way to open up the door!”
“Yay!” Hinata hollers.
“Thank goodness!” Yachi sighs.
“Good, I want to get out of here,” Kageyama mutters.
Kei just breathes another sigh of relief. He’s eager to have this day over with.
Not even five minutes pass when he sees Sawamura-san whipping the door open, an amused Sugawara-san chuckling behind him.
“You guys!” their captain bellows. Everyone begins to apologize profusely for the inconvenience.
“I can’t believe Captain chewed us out after we finally escaped that room,” Hinata grumbles, pulling his bike along. “Sugawara-san just laughed at us over his shoulder!”
“Yeah,” Kageyama agrees with a pout.
“He did yell at you guys the most,” Yamaguchi snickers.
“Yeah! How come you and Tsukishima didn’t get yelled at as much?”
“Because you two were the ones who started everything,” Kei says unhelpfully. He shrugs when they glare daggers at him. He isn’t scared of their anger in the slightest.
“Oh well, at least we’re out of there now.”
Kei is all too grateful for that.
Kei mildly tolerates the team at best, gets furiously annoyed by them at worse.
They’re way too loud, incredibly boisterous, and are generally the last kind of people he would ever want to hang out with. His senpai he can at least respect, because despite their overeager enthusiasm they’re all kind and accepting. His fellow first-years are the hardest for him to put up with. The weirdos he calls his teammates are some of the most bothersome people he’s ever met.
Yet, even though he’s had several chances to quit and leave, he still chooses to play by their side.
