Nana Rin: Juri Kimura
Mimi Rin: Nozomi Kasuga
Claire Fugo: Marika Kouno
Sasha: Yumi Uchiyama
Shisui Tsuchimikado: Yukari Tamura
L’anime è diretto da Masaharu Watanabe (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Wakaba Girl) e sceneggiato da Jukki Hanada(Sound! Euphonium, Love Live! School idol project), mentre ad occuparsi del character design è Shinichirou Otsuka, l’illustratore delle light novel “Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-”, edita in Italia da J-POP.

Ah, I didn’t mean to put words in your mouth regarding Anna. I certainly agree that her best scenes are her quieter moments, but then she exhibits her burning jealously in battle: “You love Ernesta that much? Her hair...her eyes....her voice!?” or such. I suppose in the end it comes down to your tolerance for such a bombastic character.
As for the Tsuchimikado sisters, I think they’re extremely underrated. Kuon is lowkey such an interesting, complex character, I think. Which is saying something, because it has a great cast. Even Shisui, who ought to be extremely shallow has so many layers upon closer examination.
Ah, GRANBELM. I could go on and on. Someday I’ll write an essay about this.
We haven't spoken before, so pardon me for butting in, but I wondered where you were at with GRANBELM? It's rare to see anyone mention it.
Oh, I finished it a while back! And I do think that like Granbelm is very interesting! The NGE/Madoka vibes were pretty strong but I think Granbelm really comes into its own in its second half in particular.
Like, I do really love Mangetsu as a protagonist to begin with, and even the twist while admittedly weird was still interestingly done. It's a shame that the only explicitly gay shit is Predatory Lesbian Suisou though, but at least she is also an interesting character in her own right. Still, yeah, not cool. In general, I like stories that grapple with themes of existential dread, memories, and the turmoil of emotional intimacy, and Granbelm delivers pretty well on that front. Mostly.
My biggest issue besides the, uh, Predatory Lesbian shit being Iffy, is that like... Anna just...sucks, I'm sorry. She's so obnoxious in that most of her lines are fucking screaming and they do extremely little to effectively convey the shift from when she was a sweet kid to...whatever the fuck we're dealing with now. She's sympathetic on paper, I guess, but that is some just plain BAD execution. She's exaggerated to a cartoonish degree and it decimates my ability to latch onto the tragic, strenuous relationship she has with Shingestu.
But yeah, her and some issues with Suisou aside, I think Granbelm is really good. Definitely an underrated gem. It's not quite at Madoka or NGE level, but jesus have you actually seen other entries in this genre because like good god. Granbelm may not be perfect, but at least I'd still call it good.
I'd give it, like, an 8/10 overall. (The first half is more 6/10 tho.)
I'm pretty happy I watched it!

Five New Ladies Join the Cast of GRANBELM
Upcoming mecha fantasy series GRANBELM is expanding its ranks once again, this time with five new characters.
The new series sees Re:ZERO director Masaharu Watanabe teaming up with character designer Shinichiro Otsuka, the illustrator for the original Re:ZERO light novels. The latest to be added to their group of stars are:
Nana Rin: CV Juri Kimura (Minami Wakaba, Monster Strike)
Mimi Rin: CV Nozomi Kasuga (Minor roles in STARMYU and WIXOSS)
Claire Fugo: CV Marika Kouno (Silence Suzuka, UMAMUSUME Pretty Derby)
Sasha: CV Yumi Uchiyama (Mare Bello Fiore, Overlord)
Shisui Tsuchimikado: CV Yukari Tamura (Nanoha Takamachi, Lyrical Nanoha)
The story of GRANBELM is set in a world where magic has vanished from history. In the modern era, a chance meeting between two girls, Mangetsu Kohinata (CV: Miyuri Shimabukuro) and Shingetsu Ernesta Fukami (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki), on a night with an enormous moon sets magic moving once again, awakening the magical dolls known as "Armanox" and revealing an unknown truth about the world.
