A House Divided Cannot Stand
Note to my followers: Just because I have a RWDE poster’s links in here, seeing as they have nothing to do with RWBY, I will not concern myself with them directly. What I AM doing is using the posts in their entirety to illustrate what is going in my country of America. I don’t need posts from the other side because those people are well known and well envisioned, it’s this side that needs illustration.
I’ve been thinking about debating Politics for a while now, as a way of broadening the impact of what I have to say. But I haven’t been confident enough to do so. Now, confidence is secondary: This wave of thinking needs to be destroyed WITHOUT hesitation. But not through violence but rather honor and logic.
So if you dislike politics, skim over this. For everyone else: This gonna be a bumby ride. So sit back, grab your alcohol (or whatever is closest for those underage), get comfortable and maybe get some music playing: We need as much positivity as possible in times like these.

Since Hydra is back in power we have nazis roaming the streets and on the verge of nuclear war …again…
When Captain America throws his mighty shield!
All those who choose to oppose his shield must Yield!
If he’s led in a fight, and a duel is due, then the red, the white, and the blue will come through
- When Captain America throws his mighty Shield!
… At a neo-nazi confederate sub-human bastard.
http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/164197630261/avatarastrid-ill-just-leave-this-here-one-is-an
I’ll just leave this here
One is an enjoyable meme, the other is a scumbag whose corpse should be sent into a black hole.
http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/164197552841/stitchoran-irwin-favorite-form-of-protest-the
the media calling trump “mr. trump†instead of “president trumpâ€
I also refuse to capitalize trump’s name. I just call the pathetic excuse for a human being (Apologies to all other pathetic excuses for human beings everywhere) ‘trump.’
To rub salt in the wound, I capitalize any other name. Like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and literally ANYONE ELSE, because they at least didn’t get away with the same bullshit that trump did. His (Apologies to anyone who responds to this pronoun) supporters enabling trump is what makes me sick. At least there were Germans who stood up to Adolf Hitler.
http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/164197432156/yahwehs-child-all-im-saying-is-that-trump-was
All I’m saying is that Trump was quick to denounce Black lives matter, BY NAME, and even went on to call the movement a terrorist organization. But when actual nazis and KKK members commit actual acts of terrorism, he blames both sides…
It’s almost as if trump is a racist asshole himself. But it’s not like the people who made the Tiki Torches condemned the white supremacists in the same amount of time that trump did… They did it sooner! They officially hold the moral high ground over trump - Not that that eat is a hard one to accomplish, but still.
http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/164197750241/opinion-after-charlottesville-end-the-denial
These racists are not human beings. They don’t deserve any sympathy. You see someone using the confederate flag and wearing nazi symbols; give them a concussion. Maybe a bit of brain damage can make them understand sympathy and reason. If it doesn’t work, then punch them again. The don’t have souls. They don’t have to worry about dying and going to hell.
In these posts Donald Trump is being called a racist, white supremacist for not immediately calling out the charolettesive rioters as “KKK, Neo Nazies.” But the president HAS called them out (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-condemns-repugnant-hate-groups-including-kkk-neo/story?id=49208560 )
And while the person above says that the president has denounced BLM, I am having a hard time, others say that he hasn’t. At least, not in the riots down in Virgina.
See, it wasn’t the alt-right or radical left that started this fight.
It was both of them.
Both sides of the issue, such as the KKK members as well as the Antifa members, are both at fault here. They both antagonized and taunted the other, trying to start violence in order to tear the other apart without being the “one” who instigated it physically. Or at the very least, make the other side look like the radical, insane, evil party and them as the noble heroes. We will never know who threw the first punch as both sides have a tendency to manipulate facts or even outright lie in order to further their agenda, neither does it matter because both sides are in the wrong for doing all of this in the first place, nor do either have any moral high ground in their idealoges (KKK wants to shut up and control people who look different from them, Antifa wants to shut up and control people who think differently from them.) I’m not here to declare one side as the bad guy.
I am here to show just how toxic, hostile, sick and stupid politics have become.
Look at the above posts: Look at how the reblogger constantly demeans and dehumanizes their opponent. Even though they are wrong on several points, they constant act superior and call the other side “inhuman” or “soulless.” Unforunately, this is the common practice among politics: Act as though the other side is a monster and then portray yourself as the valiant hero of legend who will slay this beast and save the fair maiden known as America. Except that when both sides refuse to acknowledge the other side as human, continuously cross inexcusable lines they say the other crossed and reinforce the most negative traits of their side, no one is the valiant hero here. Both sides are just two out of control monsters that lay waste to everything, having killed the one they were fighting for in their arrogance and greed.
We’ve all seen this song and dance before:
Something even vaguely political happens and instead of handling the situation like full grown adults or leaving it to an impartial justice system: They will use this event to attack the other side, proclaiming it to be their fault that this happened. Then in order to reinforce this claim, they will either manipulate the facts, omit certain facts or out right lie. I call this “Lie, Cheat and Misinform.” It’s a common technique people use when they can’t just state proof or facts. And this happens so much in politics because these little incidents have a bit of both sides in them but since that would mean admitting fault on their behalf (which would mean showing their side to be flawed) so instead they blow the other side’s wrong doings into something so massive that they hope their fault is ignored.
Why do people do this though? The answer is simple but multiple: A. Because they have demonized the other side so much, they think that since they are humans, their side cannot make the same mistakes as the other. B. They are high on perceived power and morality and thus their ego has swollen so much that they cannot comprehend that they can make mistakes or C. They are misguided but due to demonization and the refusal to own up to mistakes, they never learn any better.
These can very easily be seen in the riots. The Left side, evident with the above, cannot see their opponents as anything else but racist hate-filled ghouls so they cannot see they are mimicking their actions. There are also those who see themselves as so superior in morality that everything they do must be right thus there is no such thing as a mistake on their end. And then there are those who have a closer view to reality than the others but because these are usually the most silent and passive ones, no one will have them see what is truly right or wrong. Same goes for the Right, just replace “racist” with “pompous”. So they keep believing themselves as right as they fight on and on, blind to their flaws.
While the people in the riots are the most extreme iterations of these two sides as possible, they are still a part of both sides and every shade of these ideologies are subject to these flaws. They may not embody them as strongly as their more radical counterparts but it is still there. And because of this, our country is torn and dying.
Abraham Lincoln once said “A House divided cannot stand” and that has never been more true than it is today: Our country is constantly devolving and regressing further and further back due the polarized nature of politics forcing us to choose one side or another when the whole purpose of a two party system was to have balance. Without balance and the varying different ideas clashing and melding together into a neutral solution, the country has become poisoned by an overdose of the Left and Right. Our greatest time as Americans were when we were united, co existing with one another in harmony, working not for our own selfish gains but rather for the good of all.
And I still believe we can achieve that harmony once again. Because while the conflict in Charolettesive is just a giant mess, the greater conflict is still very much balanced. The meat of both sides consists of very similar people fighting for very similar reasons, we just have to acknowledge that they are the same as we are just with different opinions. We just have to acknowledge that while the opposite side seems to have toxic people on their side and we do not, it’s only because we are facing them and not our side. We just have to accept that the person disagreeing with us is not a monster: they are human.
Instead of calling a right-leaning person a bigot, try talking to them about why they feel the way they do. And instead of calling that left-leaning person a SJW: talk with them as well. Try to come to an agreement. And if you cannot, then you can try fighting. But don’t treat it as some bar fight where you will do anything to win: treat it as an honorable duel using logic and facts instead of bias and lies. No more lying, no more cheating and no more misinforming. Just debate and end when it reaches it’s conclusion.
We still have the chance to make America Great Again, truly Great. Bring it back to the dream that our founding fathers had back in 1776. As bad as things look and as overwhelming as it seems, we can still rise above it all. All it takes is effort.

Michael Jackson found not guilty, his recent exploitation is inconsistent!
Michael Jackson found not guilty, his recent exploitation is inconsistent!
Michael Jackson found not guilty, yet he’s still paying the price for wrongful accusations, all at his and his families expense. It’s wrong to take advantage of people, regardless of where they stand in life.
Seriously, Michael Jackson had to face one of the worst accusations a person can face, particularly, those in the limelight. In fact, it’s been more over 13-years since his news flooding trial.
The 2005 child molestation trial ended with the legendary singer being found not guilty of all charges by a 12-person jury.
Since then Michael has found himself under some of the worst public scrutiny. The suspicions rose until the day of his death in 2009.
After more than a decade, the FBI has not found anything to change the original ruling of Jackson being, in fact, not guilty. This includes finding Arvizo’s testimony at trial suspicious, regardless of him being 15-years-old at the time.
Paulina Coccoz was one of the 12 jurors at the time. She shared how he didn’t seem “distraught,” enough for a person who had been previously molested.
“He didn’t seem as distraught as you would think somebody who’d been molested would be,” Cocco shared.
Alongside Coccoz, the jury felt that Arvizo’s demeanor wasn’t fitting to the personality of someone who had been hiding the truth.
For example, Melissa Herard, who was also part of the 12 jurors at the time, asked for those investigating to pay close attention to Arvizo’s smirk during the police interview. The unforgettable smirk appeared after he accused Jackson of kissing him on the lips. Overall, Herard found the accusation unconvincing of someone who was kissed against their own will.
First, the jury was quite divided but after the 12 jurors voted, nine went with the choice of Jackson being innocent, while only three believed he was actually guilty. Further, and with more investigation, that changed by the end of the trial.
When a case of abuse comes up with a name you’ve associated closely to love, kindness and talent, it’s hard to not go with the media. And at the time the media wanted nothing more important than getting a “guilty verdict.” Additionally, after the verdict showing Michael Jackson was not guilty, the news lost control and did what they do best, create clickbait.
Many were convinced Michael Jackson had committed the crimes, further leading them to feel angry that the jurors did not find Michael Jackson guilty.
Of course, those who lie will always want “justice,” to prove their innocence. And they will go to lengths to receive the attention they feel was deserved.
Now, we are in no way saying that those have been through sexual abuse are lying. That’s absolutely not the case and this happens right under our noses. The actions of those who do commit sexual acts without consent need to be taken care of and I’ll be real, I’m not opposed to castration of offenders who molest children.
This is just me being real.
Those who lie for attention really make it harder for those of us who do try to speak out. When one is found lying after a sex accusation it’s embarrassing not only for them but for real victims.
Along with that, we are not saying for a fact that these victims are lying. The only real people there were Michael and those two. But after being found not guilty, knowing what a genuine man Michael was, it’s hard to believe.
And yes, the law is not perfect. But if all you want is justice, why make a movie about it years later? Could it be for fame? Money? We don’t truly know and likely will never know for a fact.
In light of this, the Sundance Film Festival has added quite the attacking documentary to their world premiere called “Leaving Neverland,” which deeply focuses on sexual abuse allegations against the late pop star Michael Jackson.
The film was produced and directed by Dan Reed. Further, the documentary describes (in assumption) how Jackson “created,” relationships with two boys, aged 7 and 10, including their families.
Now, the two, in their 30s claim that they were sexually abused by Jackson in spite of the past official ruling of “Michael Jackson found not guilty.” The two discuss how they came to terms with the alleged abuse years later into adulthood.
Truthfully, and with no disrespect, we still feel Michael Jackson is not guilty. There are people who use the “Me Too,” movement to their advantage and that in turn, makes those of us who tell the truth look like liars.
TJ Jackson has opened up against the allegations made against Michael Jackson.
“It will always be a flaw of humanity to cheat and exploit a beloved popular figure for personal gain. Do know the main actors involved swore under oath of my uncle’s innocence. What’s changed? The need for $. I feel terrible for my uncle & my cousins. They are the true victims.”
Nailed it, don’t you agree?
There will always be that flaw. There are many people in the world who will stoop to the lowest levels to “survive,” and attempt to exploit money out of as many people as they can, including those who will pay to see the film and it’s accusations.
As a result, the Jackson family has to suffer immensely.
Representatives for the Jackson estate summed up the whole situation with one sentence.
“This is yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson.”
There is no reason for this case to come back years later, especially because it was found that Michael Jackson is not guilty.
Why can we not let the late pop star rest in peace? Why can’t we talk about how he was murdered due to jealousy? What about a further investigation on who wanted him accused and why?
Regardless, Michael, Paris, TJ, and the rest of his family do not deserve this type of attention again, it’s completely uncalled for and pathetic. But we don’t have to reward pathetic, simply, don’t go see the film.

West Ham legend Billy Bonds speaks of pride at having stand named after him at London Stadium
& # 39; He would do the tops and I would do the bottom & # 39 ;, says Billy Bonds, recalling cleaning his days legend.
It was not for him, nor had his time been spent working in a factory.
With the blessing of his father, I stopped to focus on football at 16. What an inspired leap of confidence that turned out to be, with West Ham officially calling the Billy Bonds stand on Saturday.
& # 39; I had that window cleaning around, then I became a footballer and a bit famous. I walked around with his chest blown out and the old ladder on his shoulder. Proud as a blow he was. I just loved playing and playing. It was in my blood. "
Bonds is now 72 but still fit, the style has not changed and he is the perfect gentleman in the course of an hour-long interview about his career.
What stood out was his no-nonsense attitude. Indeed, the proof of his bravery for younger readers is only to Google to find away the photo's show that he is covenant (right), some with blood trickling all over his face.
So it may surprise you to hear Bands possibly missed
Team Father Bryan & # 39; Pop & # 39; Robson's father-in-law was champion ballroom dancer Lennie Heppell and West Ham boss Ron Greenwood took him to the team balance in the 1970s.
& # 39; Do you know what? He said I had a great balance that I was surprised about, "Bonds remembers. Managers try everything and it was something new.
It was an internship at Charlton Athletic, around £ 250 a year, which made the bonds his first steps in the game in 1963. The club's boss, Frank Hill, also let him work with the ground staff.
A laughter breaks out suddenly on bonds & # 39; You can go out, do all the dirty work, then go back in, take all the wet stuff from the first team players and put it in the dryers. face. "You would all do that, but it was the best thing that ever happened to me. My father was a joker. He did his glass laundry day in and day out in a bus garage. That was the way I was raised.
& # 39; It is now another way of life. They would not understand. What happiness I am – that's all I think of. If you can play a sport for a living, you are lucky. "
That's something that many have not understood today, Bonds thinks. & # 39; It's another era, you can now have a 19, 20-year-old player with a multi-millionaire and he has a Dozens of games were played, they were lucky guys, I would not begrudge them.
& # 39; I was £ 70 a week when I first joined the club, but it goes on. I am trying to make these players are now lucky. & # 39;
Like Arnautovic, bonds had the chance to play in China long before it became a playground for players who would like to swell their bank balance. & # 39; I had the chance to go there & # 39 ;, he reveals.
& # 39; I probably would have had double money there, but I would never have done that with my children. It was the same with Man United. When Dave Sexton was Manchester United's manager, I had the chance to end up there. I would not have taken that. & # 39;
Moore's captain style could perhaps best be reflected in the fact that while other players returned their kits in bundled heaps, he carefully folded. Bonds had their own way of leading.
Bonds chuckle in memory of his first meeting with Moore. It was at Middle Park School in South East London in 1961 and a 14-year-old Bonds had just won the title with his local Sunday side and in 19-year-old Moore he walks to give them their medals
& # 39; I did not know him from Adam & # 39 ;, says Bonds. & # 39;
Bonds later Moore guide West Ham watched FA Cup glory in 1964 and two years later captain England to the World Cup
Winning a cap himself is a regret, although Bonds is proud looking back on his career. The loss of window cleaning turned out to be the merit of West Ham

Employee Lawsuit Protection
Asset Protection Tips for entrepreneurs, medical practice professionals and small business owners. As a lawyer for entrepreneurs, I work hard to make sure our clients are protected. This post discusses how to put a plan in place for protection from employee lawsuits. We also cover common employee lawsuits, protecting business and personal assets, avoiding lawsuits, and termination tips.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) receives over 100,000 employee claims filed in a fiscal year. The result is nearly half a billion dollars that employers paid out in EEOC claims. A full 10% of wrongful termination and discrimination cases see employees awarded $1 Million+ settlements. The average is $40,000 per settlement. Legal fees for court trials in these cases average $45,000 in defense costs.
No matter how well prepared you are, you can still become victim to a Robin Hood judge. Many members of the judiciary delight in transferring a business owner’s wealth to an employee looking for an easy buck. So, do what it takes to protect yourself. For example, you can establish an asset protection trust. It one of the most effective tools to shield your hard-earned wealth. Then, divide your business empire into a series of properly filed and maintained companies. When someone sues one of the companies, the lawsuit does not affect the others. Do this before the bullets start to fly is a good start. That said, below we will discuss some additional warnings and corresponding precautions you can take.
youtube
Common Employee Lawsuits
The most common employment claims are wrongful termination, discrimination (age, sex, religion), sexual harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing and more. Race discrimination used to top the charts, however retaliation has become the top cited form of discrimination claim.
Unfortunately these figures are on the rise. We assist more and more business owners and medical practice owners who are concerned with employee lawsuit vulnerability. There are many reason why this is happening, both socially and economically, however it means that it’s never been more important to protect yourself and your business from an EEOC claim.
As soon as an employee files an unemployment claim, his or her mailbox is filled with mail from law firms offering free consultations boasting big payouts. It would cost a person nothing to try because a majority of these firms offer services on a contingent fee basis.
Business Protection
Insurance is not enough. Carrying EPLI (employment practices liability insurance) offers limited protection to the business depending on your state and insurance policy. Depending on how you structured your business, your business entity may not shield your business assets. The secret? Set up one corporation or LLC to operate your business. Set up another company (preferably an LLC) that owns business equipment. Your operating company simply leases the equipment from company number two. Both, in turn, protect you from personal exposure.
Personal Asset Protection
Finding yourself in an employee lawsuit could be big and costly, not just in legal fees, but in your time as well. You can take your wealth off of the lawsuit radar for good with a proper asset protection strategy. Set up an asset protection trust. Inside the asset protection trust is an LLC. You are the manager of the LLC. You make investments. As the manager you are the signatory on the bank and investment accounts. When the “bad thing” happens, the trustee steps in as LLC manager. This puts you in a position of impossibility when ordered to release the funds.
Your home goes into a land trust for privacy. Income property also goes into individual land trusts. Then, for anything but a personal residence, an LLC owns each land trust. The land trust provides a shield to keep your name and company names out of the public records. The LLC gives asset protection. For example, you and your spouse own the LLC. When someone sues you, legal provisions protect your company membership and anything inside of it.
youtube
Avoiding Lawsuits
The best outcome you could wish for is that nobody hits you with a lawsuit. The problem is that you don’t control the other guy. Any employee can sue you at any time, whether justified or not. The only thing you can do is to protect your assets from lawsuits and be clear about employee and management policies.
Managing employees is challenging because we all want to be a nice person and for others in the workplace to like us. Unfortunately that’s where most of the problems arise. The most problematic management responsibility, in a legal sense, is hiring, firing and discipline in proper and effective ways.
Employee Firing and Discipline Tips
Have written job descriptions with responsibilities and performance expectations
Communicate clearly how you enforce your requirements
Encourage and enable employees to communicate any issues in the workplace or their performance
Establish a specific discipline process and high standards
Firing an employee is a process in which you, the business owner, are responsible. Here’s a four-step discipline plan for employees that can help you avoid an EEOC lawsuit.
Initially, deliver constructive criticism, further instructions and feedback (good or bad) verbally. This is as simple as communicating to your employee that there is a performance issue or conflict in the workplace that he or she needs to assess.
If an employee’s subpar behavior or performance persists, you write down exactly what the performance issue is. Then reference the job description that they interviewed for with your performance expectations, discipline process and responsibilities clearly defined. Provide a copy to the employee. This all becomes a pillar in your case against an EEOC charge.
Before firing your employee, the final management discipline action is to provide an affirmative written agreement. It should generally specify the performance or behavior that the employee needs to improve. The agreement will tie everything together, the employee agreement with employee responsibilities, performance expectations as well as your discipline plan. In the agreement the employee should agree to specific changes in his or her performance and behavior.
More Asset Protection Information
The most common mistake made by managers is not keeping records of underperformance or bad employee behavior
Verbal warnings and discipline often ends up into a hearsay battle
With detailed documentation of repeat offense with an employee signature would leave little chances of losing a lawsuit, or even finding a lawyer to sue
When it comes time to terminate an employee after all of your management efforts have failed, you must have this process defined. Start with security; you should first address access, keys, passwords, entry cards or other security items such as alarm codes. HR experts recommend that you have a witness during this process. It should include a final interview that you document, if possible. If the employee has compensation coming, write a check on the spot (if you can), including any severance or other offering you may have at the time of termination. Finally, encourage feedback, either at the time of the final interview, or in writing later with a form that you provide.
You cannot avoid the lawsuit threat. However you can minimize your vulnerability. Communicated and enforce strong practices and policies. Most importantly, protect your business and personal assets from lawsuits.

The Rip it or Ship it book tag!!!!!
I’ve seen several YouTubers doing this, and it’s hilarious and fun. I’m going to admit proudly that this is my favorite tag ever. Basically, you place character names in a hat, and pull out two at a time. Do you ship the pair, or will you rip the cards into a million pieces and try to forget the possibility even existed? You guys know I’m have a love all-consuming addiction when it comes to classic novels, so there are a healthy amount of oldies in my hat. But I also included some of my favorite YA characters. ❤ OK, I’ve only seen Damon Salvatore’s TV character, but he was technically in a book first. I’m assuming the books do him justice for the purposes of this tag ❤ HERE ARE MY SHIPS & RIPS.
1.) Jane Eyre and Sodapop Curtis (The Outsiders)
SHIP IT. I think my first draw is literally my favorite ship to ever exist!!!!! This is literally too much for my body. Jane Eyre is a sassy, intelligent, independent, and honest (to others and herself) woman, 19-years-old and mon ange. Sodapop Curtis is handsome, smart, sensitive, and “gets drunk on just plain living.” I think his boyish personality will go perfectly with Jane’s wise passion. They were supposed to be born in the same era, in the same universe!!!!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED???? Fan fic writers please stand up and serve your people.
Ship name: Janepop. ❤ ❤ ❤
UPDATE: I wrote this post about a week before publishing it, and I can’t stop thinking about this ship!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s so perfect. It’s my favorite on this list.
2.) Mr. Rochester (from Jane Eyre) and Ron Weasley
RIP IT. One, Mr. Rochester 40 and Ron’s 15 in the HP book I’m on right now. I can’t even see them as friends because Ron’s so funny and lighthearted, and Rochester’s 100% intense. The only person Rochester can joke with is his Jane. SORRY. It’s for their own good. So no one gets arrested.
3.) Lord Henry (from The Picture of Dorian Gray) and Katniss Everdeen
SHIP IT. Lord Henry MIGHT BE too selfish to deal with Katniss’ shredded mental state at this point. However, I think she’d agree with his moral ideas, especially when he says this: “I consider that for any man of culture to accept the standard of his age is a form of the grossest immorality.” Yes, Lord Henry, Panem is hell. We’re moving to your universe. And I think Henry would adore her moral ambiguity.
Ship name: Lord Katniss.
4.) Four (from Divergent) and Juliet (from Romeo and Juliet)
SHIP IT. But only on the condition that we’re pretending Juliet is a decent age, we’ll say Four’s age. I can’t vibe with Romeo and Juliet as a love story unless I age Juliet up (you know, FROM 13), so I’ll keep her older in this scenario. Four is independent, decisive, courageous, and logical. Juliet is loyal, passionate, and adventurous. I think they would really love one another, more than anything in the world. I FEEL THIS ONE DEEPLY.
Ship name: Fouriet
5.) Tris (from Divergent) and Hamlet
RIP IT. We have the goth boy, impulsive and deeply emotional, and Tris, who is rather stoic, determined, and over all the crap. Hamlet would get on her nerves to the point of homicide.
6.) Winter (from Lunar Chronicles) and Sydney Carton (from a Tale of Two Cities)
SHIP IT!!!!!! If you’ve never read Tale of Two Cities, Carton is a drunk, emotional, loyal, passionate, tormented soul who ends up *SPOILER* sacrificing his own life so that the girl he loves (it’s unrequited, FYI) can be happy. Not to save her life. Just so that she can be freaking HAPPY. That is unconditional devotion. Winter is drunk in her own head, loyal, kind, adorable, and equally tormented. Her silliness would balance his angst!!!!! They would be so cute together.
Ship name: Winton
7.) Cress (from Lunar Chronicles) and Snape (Harry Potter)
RIP IT. GROSS!!!!!!! I know we can just pretend they’re the same age (it’s extremely hard), and focus on the personalities, but still, no. Snape is at his core a middle-aged man and Cress is my Cressy-baby. Besides, she’d probably be in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw (Ravenpuff?); I can’t see her in Slytherin at all.
8.) Catherine Earnshaw (Wuthering Heights) and Hermione Granger
SHIP IT. I think Catherine would give us a taste of dark!Hermione. Which would be a treat. I mean, imagine their story together????? INTERESTING. FAN FIC WRITERS PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS.
Ship name: Cathione.
9.) Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights) and Damon Salvatore (Vampire Diaries)
SHIP IT. Two misunderstood bad boys, one more hilarious, the other silently judging everyone but his boy Damon, and it’s the best duo. NAME A BETTER DUO. You simply cannot, it’s OK, we understand.
Ship name: Heathon. Lord save me. The play on words!!!!!!! It’s like heathen. IT’S LIKE HEATHEN. Goodbye, 2018. I’m done with everything. I wasn’t ready.
10.) Carswell Thorne (Lunar Chronicles) and Romeo (Romeo and Juliet)
I SHIP IT!!!!!! Carswell is charming, sarcastic, playful, and adventurous. Romeo and romantic, dramatic, and passionate. I think they would complement one another’s personality and the teasing would be relentless.
Ship name: Carseo
11.) Rick Grimes (The Walking Dead) and Sherlock Holmes
SHIP IT. Rick could be the BAD A and head tilt. Sherlock could provide the sassy observations and would never judge Rick’s zombie issues. They would make an amazing team, even with their pretty much opposite accents. And let’s be real, after dealing with zombies, Rick dealing with Sherlock’s high-strung nature will be a piece of cake.
Ship name: Ricklock
12.) Harry Potter and Alaska (Looking for Alaska)
SHIP IT. ALASKA DESERVED BETTER FRIENDS. And Harry has proven to be a great friend to Ron and Hermione. Alaska is smart, party-ready, and damaged (& damaged is beautiful). Harry has his own set of issues. They will understand one another and love each other forever and ever.
Ship name: Halaska
UPDATE: This is my second favorite ship on this list. ❤
Do you agree with my decisions? They were risky, but I think I’ve made all my precious flamingos happy. Especially Jane and Sodapop. Share in the comments! And if you’re reading this, you’re officially tagged.
Book Tag / Rip It or Ship It!!! The Rip it or Ship it book tag!!!!! I’ve seen several YouTubers doing this, and it’s hilarious and fun.

There are fewer names in the Halloween industry more iconic than Ben Cooper, the costume brand first launched eight decades ago by the brothers Ben and Nat Cooper, who broke new ground in their innovative use of licensed pop culture icons from the likes of Disney and Star Wars. They helped define what Halloween is in America for multiple generations who proudly wore their plastic masks and vinyl smocks, and now Ben Cooper is back.
In Part 1 of our extended chat with Nat Cooper’s son Ira Cooper and author Jon James Miller, we discussed the rise of Ben Cooper Incorporated, becoming the biggest Halloween market shareholder by the late ‘70s after successfully bridging the gap from theatrical costuming to everyday dress up made affordable enough for everyday people. They paved the way for the pop culture-influenced cosplay culture of today.
The Cooper brothers were also pioneers in licensing some the earliest Disney properties, being among the first in the world to give kids a likeness of Mickey Mouse or Cinderella that they could find at their local drug store. By the 1980s, they were the Kings of Halloween, but the country was changing, as the pop culture icons they helped make famous were now becoming more readily available through all kinds of new products, and grownups began to celebrate the holiday more than ever.
In this third and final installment of our interview, the story resumes a quarter-century after Ben Cooper Costumes went bankrupt and was ultimately sold in 1991.
Celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, the name and the brand are looking to make a comeback, for all kinds of vintage-cool new items that honor Ben and Nat in their rightful place in Halloween history.
Read on for Part 3 of our interview with Ira Cooper and Jon James Miller!

Part 3: The Return of Ben Cooper
HDN – If they were here now, what do you think Ben and Nat Cooper would think of Halloween and costuming and just how the industry is today? Do you think they would feel a little pride or ownership over that, or do you think they would be more weirded out by it?
IRA – There would be no ego around it at all. They were very practical people who did not lord their position over anybody. They did one interview, with People Magazine, and never did another with anybody.
Nat kept himself out of the limelight. He worked 10 years on (signing) Sesame Street, and you could barely get him to take credit for getting the license. The head of licensing for Sesame Street took me aside after dinner at The Plaza in New York and he said, ‘Your father is the most tenacious businessman I’ve ever met.’ That’s a tremendous statement to make.
They were just so private that way. They didn’t decorate their houses with anything. I think Dad had a couple of Disney (film animation) cells at home, but nothing major. He had absolutely nothing that indicated Halloween. If there was art on the wall, it was art from other people.
Although they talked about it and they lived the business, they didn’t identify with it in that way. So I think they would just think it’s crazy where it went.
Nat always said that people are missing the low end of the market. There is always going to be X-number of millions of dollars in low priced items for people who cannot afford this other stuff. I think they would notice that still is not being served. The retailers don’t want to devote the space.
Lady Vampire mask by Ben Cooper.
JON – I think they’d be more flattered about cosplay.
IRA – They’d be mesmerized by it.
JON – I think in as much as they pioneered play suits for everyday wear, that was done in the ‘50s, so that was way ahead of anybody else as far as the cosplay lifestyle today where people can dress up every day.
IRA – I don’t think they foresaw adults running around identifying with superheroes. And that’s the essence that I get from cosplay, that it’s this psychological identity with it.
JON – I think the brothers Cooper would take a little satisfaction in the fact that Halloween is an $8.6 billion industry. And it’s inflation-proof on top of that.
IRA – And it always was. Even in the worst recession years, Halloween did not lack growth. You could always measure how good the Halloween was going to be at the end of the season by looking at the candy sales in the beginning. If candy and party goods were good, they knew people were going to be buying those costumes eventually. Some years were very late sales and we’d see the stuff moving off the shelves in the last seven days, and other years it moved off in the last 15 days of what was initially only a 30-day selling period. Now the selling period is 60 days or more.
Rubber Dracula mask by Ben Cooper.
HDN – So after the ‘90s the Ben Cooper brand was dormant for 25 years. What can you tell me about the re-launch and what’s going on now?
IRA – I’ll leave that one with Jon.
JON – I always loved Ben Cooper growing up. And I kind of forgot about it for a decade or two. Then, I’m a writer too and I was doing some research, and one of my editors said, ‘Why don’t you do something about Halloween?’ It kind of went off in my head that I hadn’t heard about Ben Cooper for a long time. And then I realized there really isn’t anything online about them.
So I set about trying to find a Cooper. That took me months and months. I still consider it a minor miracle that the Cooper I did find was Ira. He’s the nicest guy on the planet. He took mercy on me and kind of told me the family story.
That’s really one of the unsung heroes of this whole story; how a Jewish immigrant family got their start and realized the American dream by taking over Halloween.
They are exceedingly modest, the Coopers are, especially Ira. What I bring to it is that I can see how people would be really interested in this story. It’s never been told before.
Short of making Halloween costumes again, which I don’t see in Ben Cooper’s near future, what I do see is doing collectibles and telling that story, because it’s really a pop culture phenomenon in and of itself.
They lived off pop culture for 50 years, and then they became it, because of their stature in the Halloween industry.
So Ira and I really hit it off, and we’re working on a book about Ben Cooper, the official history.
HDN – Oh, cool. That’s going to be great.
Ben Cooper ‘Star Wars’ 40th anniversary shirt.
JON – We’re very slowly rolling out a couple collectibles at BenCooperCostumes.com, starting with a 40th anniversary Star Wars t-shirt (pictured above), and we’ve got a couple of other things that are in the pipeline.
What I love about Ben Cooper is they kind of touched on everything in their time in the limelight. So you have super awesome Disney, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, basically any pop culture icon you can think of had its own costume back in the day. But what I love about the costumes especially is they actually are kind of folk art.
You can still buy a costume fairly cheaply online, and it brings you right back when you open that box and see that mask right in front of the costume. You’re teleported right back to your childhood. That kind of nostalgia is hard to come by these days.
And a lot of the costumes I buy, because I’m a collector too, they’re in really good condition. Some of them are haggered and ripped and stuff, but some of them are like they just came off the line at the Cooper factory. It’s largely luck to get one in that kind of condition, but I think Ben Cooper costumes are the only collectible that it’s cool if it’s got chocolate all over it when you get it, because somebody loved it.
HDN – When is the book coming out?
JON – We’re estimating it’s going to be out in time for (San Diego) Comic-Con next year. So we’ll launch it, and then that obviously leads into the Halloween 2018 market. We’re hopeful that the book itself is going to be a bit of a collectible. We’d like to capture as many Ben Cooper Halloween costume images as possible.
HDN – That sounds so cool. I’m sure it will be a collectible in its own right. So costumes are not part of the plan right now?
IRA – I think we’re going to tell the story of Ben Cooper, but I don’t think it’s going to be an emerging area for youngsters. I think there’s a certain level of contemporary young adults who recognize that the art is nostalgic, and recognize the vibrancy of it, and we’re going to see some classic Ben Cooper images on some fashion items and home décor. These are things we have in the works.
But right now it’s time to tell the story, and give Ben and Nat their due.
Following that initial release of the Star Wars 40th anniversary Ben Cooper t-shirt earlier this year, the new Ben Cooper has also since unveiled a number of other retro flavored items, including collectible pins, apparel, and additional shirts. You can find out more about these and upcoming releases at the official Ben Cooper Facebook page and on Instagram. Ben Cooper is also the subject of a great new exhibit showing from Sept. 9 through Halloween at the Mystic Museum in Burbank, CA, featuring never-before-seen prototypes, archive photos, original art, masks, and more.
