Out of the country, travelling down south to move a boat. We're driving. Its a multi-day journey. I think we'll do just fine.
Our goal is to get to Virginia to tonight.
I-88 --> I-90 --> I-79 (Pennsylvania towards South Carolina)
We passed first through Salamanca NewYork. Its a nice little town, and in the guidebook, specifically, it says there are 3 places to visit.
A Rail Museum, A Native Museum, and a Casino. I keep picturing the Native people running the casino, like in all the tv shows.
We drove over several mountains (Allegany State Park, Mohawk State Park) between the Buffalo border, through Salamanca, our ears popped uh... (Hey dad, how many times did our ears pop?... 5?...) 5 times.
Gorgeous scenery
Here is an Assortment of dialogue from the very long Day1 drive:
#AmishTerritory
Dad: Gestures to a set of farms on the left of the highway
"All these farms are Amish farms. They're gorgoeous. Man, do the Amish know how to be farmers boy!"
1hr to Pittsburgh
Dad: "The trees are gorgoeous! Look at all the colours! This would be so beautiful during the day!
...everything's just green in Florida... "
Arrived at a restaurant, Bob Evans, in Pittsburgh
Staying at the Motel8 down the road after dinner
Car rides man. I passed out TWICE in the passenger seat
Dads a tank. I don't know how he does it.
He drives for HOURS and is FINE AFTER!!!
I drive for TWO, and then gotta pull over, run in a circle or two before I can get back in the car again.
The Super 8 is at the Pittsburgh / West Virginia border, so we made our driving goal!!!
I didnt realize how BIG West Virginia waa until dad's like "Look, theres the border" and pointed it out on the map. 😅
Trip so far:
Niagara/Buffalo --> Salamenca, NY --> Allegany, Mohawk State Park mountain ranges --> Pittsburgh --> Super8/ West Virginia Border --> End of Day1.
