'You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant' sings Arlo Guthrie ... the man on the radio talks about this, talks about that in between mouthfuls of chocolate that people have sent him, tells groaner jokes and plays a message from someone that says 'it's bad luck to be superstitious' ... the traffic lady has been and gone, I know the man on the radio shared some of his chocolate with her, they tried to remember what you're supposed to say if you see magpies, but I missed the traffic report.

Not that it matters ... I have no place to be other than home.

Time was spent, as always, in the shiny metropolis. Glad that's done for the week. Strangely quiet. Where did all the people go? Were they at home getting into training for a trolley dash today, in order to get all the supplies needed for St Patrick's day?

March has Mothering Sunday, St Patrick's and Easter ... a whole lot of busy and excess. And, even now, there's still reminders of Christmas. In Lidl, the magical middle aisle still holds festive remnants .. after all, chocolate is chocolate no matter the wrapper. Duvet covers with Christmas tree patterns. There's lap trays decorated with Rudolph and Santa.

I have lap trays but none that say Christmas. I have a small tray a friend gave me recently. The kind of size you don't know what to do with it. Small enough for me to put my mug of coffee on ... so ... a coaster with handles? Plus all the little white trays that mount up outside that the cat food goes in.

Those little white trays seem to breed and multiply when I'm not looking. I make pile after pile ... recycle .. reuse ... but there's always more. Like the weeping angels from Dr Who they get closer and closer. Eventually nature starts to colonise the piles ... so I leave the piles where they are. Maybe in a decade or so, when I'm gone, someone will find these many piles of trays and make fantastical guesses as to the civilisation that once lived here. I hope so ...
