Strange Things Found Around the World Strange Things Found Around the World Our first stop is one of the coldest, most remote places on Earth - Antarctica. Beneath its endless white sheets of ice lies a blood-red waterfall pouring out from Taylor Glacier. But don’t worry, it’s not actual blood. Scientists discovered that the water is rich in iron and oxidizes when exposed to air, creating the crimson flow. Still, it looks like something straight out of a horror movie! Imagine trekking through icy silence only to stumble upon what looks like nature’s crime scene. ✅ Stay Connected To Us. 👉 Twitter: https://ift.tt/c1PIZnr ============================= Welcome aboard 'Behind the Veil' – where Culture comes alive! ================================= Disclaimer: We do not accept any liability for any loss or damage incurred by you acting or not acting as a result of watching any of our publications. The Danger of Black Henna Tattoos: A Cautionary Tale from Bali
Tumblr media
An Australian mother has issued a warning to travelers about the hidden dangers of black henna tattoos after her nine-year-old daughter suffered a severe allergic reaction, leading to scarring. Kaitlyn Salter from Melbourne shared her experience, highlighting the risks of getting a tattoo in Bali in a shop that didn't prioritize safety and hygiene.
During a visit to Kuta beach, Salter's daughter, Imogen, opted for a temporary henna tattoo. Initially, Imogen chose a turtle design, but another artist persuaded her to switch to a wolf design. The second artist began drawing the new design without warning, setting off a chain of events that turned a fun holiday activity into a nightmare.
Two days later, Imogen's arm blistered and became painful. Despite applying antiseptic cream and later using antibiotics and antihistamines, her condition worsened. The reaction resulted in a painful scar that required frequent doctor's visits and additional medication. Salter noted that the first doctor in Bali thought the reaction would clear up, but it worsened upon their return to Melbourne, necessitating stronger antibiotics and burn cream.
Tumblr media
Salter regrets not knowing about the potential dangers of black henna tattoos. She shared their story in a Facebook group for Bali tourists, warning others about the severe allergic reactions that can occur. Her post received numerous comments from others who had experienced similar issues with black henna tattoos.
Unlike natural henna, which is typically chocolate brown or mahogany, black henna contains paraphenylenediamine (PPD), a chemical used in permanent hair dye. PPD can cause allergic reactions in up to one in five people, making it a risky choice for temporary tattoos.
Salter's story underscores the importance of being cautious when considering a tattoo in Bali. Choosing the best tattoo studio in Bali can help ensure safety and avoid harmful reactions. This cautionary tale highlights the need for awareness and careful consideration when opting for temporary henna tattoos.

Santorini, one of Greece’s most iconic destinations, is facing an unprecedented crisis as it has been declared in a state of emergency. The Santorini State of Emergency has heightened fears and uncertainty among locals and travelers alike. The Santorini State of Emergency has left residents and tourists in shock, raising serious concerns about the island's safety and future. Santorini, one of Greece’s most iconic destinations, is facing an unprecedented crisis as it has been declared in a state of emergency. The declaration follows a series of powerful seismic activities that have sent shockwaves of fear through the local population. More than half of Santorini’s residents have already abandoned the island, fearing the possibility of a catastrophic earthquake. Streets that were once bustling with life now stand eerily silent, as uncertainty looms over the island's future. Is Santorini Safe for Tourists Right Now? While some local officials insist that the island remains accessible to visitors, the reality on the ground is far from reassuring. Many businesses have been forced to shut down, and some of Santorini’s iconic narrow streets, known as "sokakia," have been closed due to structural risks. Hotels that once overflowed with guests now stand half-empty, with swimming pools drained of water as a precaution against potential damage. The once-vibrant tourist paradise has taken on a ghostly atmosphere, with empty terraces and abandoned storefronts casting an ominous shadow over the island’s future. What Precautions Should Visitors Take? If you are planning to visit Santorini in 2025, here are some safety precautions you should consider: Stay Informed: Keep up with official updates from the Greek government and local news. Know Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with the nearest evacuation routes and safety measures provided by your accommodation. Follow Local Guidelines: Adhere to any travel advisories or restrictions in place. Purchase Travel Insurance: Ensure you have coverage in case of unexpected disruptions. Are Santorini’s Attractions Open? While some of Santorini’s famous landmarks, including the caldera and sunset spots, remain open, many tourist attractions have been impacted. Some restaurants and shops have closed indefinitely, and areas deemed high-risk for collapses have been sealed off. Visitors may find their itineraries significantly limited, as access to certain areas is restricted for safety reasons. How Are Locals Handling the Situation? The people of Santorini are experiencing one of the most difficult periods in recent history. Fear and uncertainty have driven many families to leave, seeking safety in other parts of Greece. Those who remain are doing their best to navigate the crisis, with businesses struggling to keep operations running under challenging conditions. The island’s once-thriving tourism industry is now at a standstill, with hotels and restaurants suffering major losses. What Does the Future Hold for Santorini’s Tourism? Santorini has long been one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world, but its future now hangs in the balance. While experts closely monitor the seismic activity, there is no clear timeline for when the island will fully recover. With infrastructure under strain and visitor confidence shaken, it may take years for Santorini’s tourism to return to its former glory. Conclusion: Should You Visit Santorini in 2025? If you are considering a trip to Santorini, it is crucial to weigh the risks. The island is in a state of emergency, with many areas closed, businesses struggling, and a sense of fear lingering among locals. Authorities continue to work diligently to ensure safety, but the uncertainty surrounding further seismic activity cannot be ignored. Until the situation stabilizes, visiting Santorini in 2025 may not be the dream vacation it once was.

Germany & Covid_19 - various reports
youtube
In Germany, coronavirus case numbers are rising fast. For the ninth straight day, the country has registered record infection rates, prompting doctors and public health experts once again to sound the alarm. They are urging leaders to ramp up pressure on unvaccinated people, and the first states have started to heed their call. Meanwhile the surge is stretching medical staff on the front lines to the limit.
youtube
At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Germany was considered a model student: successful countermeasures, a low death rate, public life hardly had to be restricted. One and a half years later, the country is in the 4th wave, the number of infections is rising rapidly, intensive care units are filling up and every day, hundreds of people die. Why can’t Germany break the 4th wave?
youtube
Germany on Wednesday reported record levels of COVID-19 cases as the country faces a virulent fourth wave of the pandemic that has taken hold since late October. The country's public health agency, the Robert Koch Institute, reported 52,826 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, the highest rate registered since the pandemic began in early 2020. That represents an increase of 13,150 cases compared with the same day a week ago. The seven-day incidence rate measuring cases per 100,000 people also reached a record high of 319.5, up from 312.4 the day before. The death toll from COVID-related causes rose in 24 hours by 294 to 98,274. Despite the high infection rate, the death toll still remains below that at the peak of the pandemic in December 2020 owing largely to the fact that around two-thirds of the population is vaccinated. However, experts have warned from the beginning of the rollout that the number is not high enough to keep the virus under control. One of Germany's top virologists, Christian Drosten, predicted last week that the country could see 100,000 more COVID deaths over the winter if the vaccination rate did not increase and other measures were not taken to stem the spread. Outgoing German Chancellor Angela Merkel called the current coronavirus situation in Germany is "dramatic." She was talking on Wednesday at an event for the Association of German Cities in Erfurt. She also called on those in Germany who have not yet been vaccinated to get the vaccine, saying "it is not too late to opt for a first vaccine shot." Experts say that infection numbers are likely to continue rising over the winter, partly owing to an increase in indoor gatherings as Christmas approaches.
youtube
Several German interior ministers on Friday called for better implementation of the country's new pandemic regulations as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surge across the country. The new rules have been called a "lockdown for the unvaccinated." Essentially, they allow only people who are fully vaccinated against or have recently recovered from COVID-19 to enter public venues, including shops, restaurants, bars and Christmas markets in most of Germany.
youtube
Germany has posted yet another record number of Covid-19 cases. For the first time the seven-day average has now reached almost 400 infections per 100,000 people. The worsening situation is having repercussions elsewhere. The United States has warned its citizens against traveling to Germany - saying even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk of getting and spreading the virus. The US also elevated its travel warning for Denmark. While vaccination levels in several European countries remain too low, in most places in Asia, it's the opposite. Governments there have been able to convince their populations that getting vaccinated is the only way out of the pandemic. As Europeans prepare for another deadly winter, countries like Japan, Cambodia and Malaysia are now re-opening.
