Fatal Traffic Collision Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Javier Morando File # JV220740004 Details: On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, about 1:38 A.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station, responded to the report of a fatal hit and run traffic collision at Van Buren Boulevard north of Clay Street, in the city of Jurupa Valley. Deputies and American Medical Response arrived on-scene and located the pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Deputies were informed Riverside Police Department had conducted a stop of a vehicle with major damage to the front end. During the investigation, it was learned the driver Kyle Williams a 30-year-old resident of Moreno Valley had fled the scene of the accident. At the conclusion of the investigation Williams was taken into custody and subsequently booked into Robert Presley Detention Center. At this time, it remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision. Both directions of Van Buren Boulevard in between Clay Street and Limonite Avenue were closed for the duration of the investigation. The identity of the deceased will not be released pending further investigation and the notification to the next of kin. Fatal Traffic Collision On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, about 11:30 AM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, San Jacinto Station, responded to the 400 block of Bryce Canyon Way, regarding a major injury traffic collision. Deputies and Cal Fire arrived and located a deceased juvenile who had been struck by a truck. The driver and sole occupant of a 3500 Dodge truck with an attached utility trailer was traveling westbound on Bryce Canyon Way, when it collided into the juvenile who was riding his bicycle on the roadway. After the collision, the juvenile was pronounced deceased. The driver of the truck was not injured. The San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Bryce Canyon Way was closed during the investigation. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in this collision. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Simi Valley Police Officer injured in on-duty traffic collision

Officer Tom Carney, a 14 year veteran with the Simi Valley Police Department and former Marine, was seriously injured on June 15, 2016 while riding his motorcycle south bound on Tapo Canyon Road at Los Angeles Ave in Simi Valley. A 43 year old woman driving a small pickup truck, made a u-turn directly into Officer Carney’s path throwing him off his motorcycle. He was transported to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he is being treated for significant head injuries, multiple fractures, and internal injuries. 

The Simi Valley Police Department along with the American Red Cross and the Simi Valley Unified School District have organized a blood drive that will take place as follows:
