This Perfect Girl - Tracy Banghart
Stepping outside of my normal genres and reading a thriller.
Story: Jessa is a perfect, polite, people pleaser; never breaks the rules or rocks the boat. She has her whole life planned perfectly. However when a storm knocks out the power at her house she begins to doubt her perfect politeness.
Review: As previously stated, this isn’t my normal genre to read, but I really enjoyed it. I was kept on the edge of my seat, even if some of the twists were somewhat predictable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Feiwel & Friends for providing me with an eARC of this book!
Overall: 4.5/5 ⭐️

December TBR
Hey friends. I thought I would share with you the books I plan to read in December. I have many reading goals I set for this year that I haven’t completed, so I’m making one last attempt to get a few more of those books read. I also have a couple of books I just really want to get to, and one book for a readalong I’d like to participate in. (more…)

A review of Perfect Girl, by Tracy Banghart. Releasing Nov 19! Perfect Girl is a quick, fun read with a thrilling climax! It follows Jessa, a rules-following "perfect" girl who seems to have her life together. But has her perfection caught the wrong person's notice?
I can't say too much without spoiling the excellent twist(s) within this novel. It starts at a sleepover in Jessa's house, where a power outage interrupts the standard teenage bickering. Can Jessa put her complicated feelings aside about her brother, crush, and best friends to manage a growing crisis? Can she put her own insecurities away? How much can this perfect girl be pushed before she cracks?
Perfect Girl takes the "nice guy" concept to the extreme. I enjoyed the characters' banter (it felt very true to the high school experience) and Jessa's inner monologue. I also liked how the romance between Jessa and Ryan develops. I almost wanted this book to be longer, though. The concept restricts it to a single evening, but it felt like Jessa got out of her pickle rather quickly. Despite this, Perfect Girl fits a lot into the story and wraps up nicely.
If you're looking for a not so scary but still gripping thriller, Perfect Girl is a great choice.

I'm literally so indecisive so I'm gonna do top three in no particular order:
Favorite books:
Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart
As Old As Time: A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell
Favorite movies:
Robots (2005)
Singin' In The Rain (1952)
White Chicks (2004)
I'm curious, as a part of the Hannibal fandom, what is your favorite book and favorite film?

Furyborn meets A Curse So Dark and Lonely in this courtly feminist fantasy from Grace and Fury author Tracy Banghart. Annalise may be cousin to the prince, but her past isn’t what she claims, and she possesses a magic so powerful it takes all her strength to control it. Evra is a country girl, and has watched as each friend and family member came into their own magic, while hers remains dormant. But everything changes after Annalise loses control of herself and Evra begins experiencing the debilitating visions of a once-in-a-generation clairvoyant meant to serve the crown. Thrown together at court, Evra and Annalise find that they have the same goal: to protect their kingdom from the powerful men who are slowly destroying it. But neither is quick to trust the other — Evra’s visions suggest a threat to royal rule, and Annalise worries that her darkest secrets will be revealed. Their magic at odds, the young women circle each other, until the truth must come out. Full of intrigue, romance, and shocking twists, this gorgeously immersive fantasy will keep readers spellbound until the very last page.
