Tfw you finally come out of a several year long retirement, work hard to overcome your trauma, and train vigorously to become a F1 racer, only for the ride you’re sponsoring to shit itself and not operate the whole year

This was a piece I made back in august when the announcement was made that TT2 would not reopen this year. I thought it would be funny to redraw the shinji chair meme with Della, my TT2 OC, being completely devastated that the rollercoaster she’s been stuck sponsoring ever since she was a dragster racer just decided to give her more trouble.

Poor Della, she just can’t catch a break can she?

Coaster Maynia 2024 Day 1 - TOP THRILL 2

“One of the most common after effects of the anomalies, was many seemingly ordinary humans acquiring inhuman amounts of speed. Rita Ferraro was one of them of course, but found her new ability a mix of a blessing and a curse, thus deciding to join a support group for people like her. It was in this group, she met people like Enzo, a full of himself speedster who she briefly was in a relationship with, only for that to end very soured. Rita however met many others with her ability who were kind and supportive. Topher Thomson was one of them, in the support group since 2003. They were friendly, upbeat and positive, and always trying to uplift and support others who were struggling. Topher themselves was a bit clumsy much like Rita, tending to fall backwards during high speed runs and stumbling. But they never gave up, and Rita admired that. For many years Topher was a visible figure in the support group, helping others come to terms with their new abilities, making sure people were taking care of themselves and drinking and eating enough, tending to injuries of those still clumsy and running into things, and much more. But recently, they vanished for a period of time, worrying a lot in the community. Rita got word something had happened to her friend, and was desperate to run off as fast as she could to find them. But not long later, Topher returned, seeming brighter than ever, with a new sense of style and more control over their powers than before…”

Happy Coaster Maynia Season! Im so so so excited this year, I’ve gotten so much prep done ahead of time, as I want to get the lists done in time! I have a lot coming up at the end of the month anyways so I needed to be ready for it all! But yes, it’s been so fun working on the prompts this year, I’ve been doing these template backgrounds for each day, and plan to write up little blurbs to further develop each character! Also in terms of the best of list, Im prioritizing the main, but do plan to go back to the second one once the first list is done! As I plan to make the art for the best of list a bit more detailed and with backgrounds! Stay tuned for those pieces…..

So I got to ride Top Thrill 2 three times last Friday, the day before it closed for “train modifications”.

This coaster is amazing!!! I rode in the front, back, and row 6, and while I liked the back the best, every seat is amazing. The launches aren’t punchy at all, but they seem to have a constant acceleration that impresses with each pass of the LSMs. The backwards launch into the spike is when it really starts picking up speed, and then you hit the spike, and the peninsula is just sucked out from under you, and then you’re just free floating with the whole point and lake Erie around you. Then you fall back down, hit the 3rd launch and are taken to the top speed, woosh up the top hat and then spiral down. In the back row, the whip feels like it is at the maximum allowable force - I was fully bent over the side of the train, and with my arms up, I get why they modified that one support. Insane head chopper moment. Then you coast down the rest of the straightaway and slowly come to a rest, and then you get right back in line.

I was disappointed all day Saturday that it did not open, but 9 laps on Maverick and the last ride of the night on Millie eased that disappointment.

I can’t wait to return after its reopening is announced!

Unfortunately, Cedar Point has confirmed that Top Thrill 2 won’t reopen until 2025.

OBSESSED w the fact that Cedar Fair is just calling the Top Thrill Dragster update Top Thrill 2. It's like if Steel Vengeance just got called Meaner Streak.

Here she is, dragsters new form for TT2! She is back and ready to go babyyyy 🏁 🏎️

This is also the reveal of her new name, Della Monroe! now I don’t have to just call her “dragster” anymore lmao

Also this time I also included the car she races with, since TT2 went with a formula one theme I chose to give her a F1 car. The patterns on the car were inspired by the TT2 train.

Short summary of her backstory:

Della was a sponsored top fuel dragster racer for cedar point to promote their newest attraction in 2003, which just so happened to be themed to dragsters. Della was a fiery, charismatic and competitive racer with a passion for her craft, and it showed as she was a very talented racer. However, in 2019 (before the TTD ride incident) she would suffer a near fatal accident during one of her races in the Sandusky speedway. After this, she retired from racing due to her trauma. For years she stayed away from racing, but she would have to confront her fears in 2024 when cedar fair approached her once again to be their sponsored formula 1 racer for Top Thrill 2. She was hesitant at first, but after receiving support from her peers and long time fans, she decided to come out of her shell and race again. Now, she’s back to being her old self again, and takes pride in what she does.

Top thrill 2 is a silly name but I couldn't be happier with what they're doing!! I know we pretty much guessed the spike from the start but I'm honestly shocked it's going to be that tall! The triple swing launch sounds fun as hell too
