So I went to a Thai sweets cafe and here are my thoughts
Context: My area has no Thai restaurants and I've only has Thai food twice in my life. So I really know nothing. I asked the staff to give me recs and info. Also our lovely Perth Nakhun has a video on Thai sweets on his YouTube. UMWA edition (bc of course) which covers leum kluen and khanom tom/kho which I ate.
Golden Thread Pandan Cake
Tumblr media
Recommended by staff. Golden thread is made out of egg and I was a bit skeptical bc I don't always like egg. But I actually really liked it. The cake tastes like a kind of sponge cake or a pound cake? It doesn't really have a strong taste. Like eating it by itself is kind of plain (not in a bad way), but mixed with the golden thread that has a slightly stronger taste was very nice. Good combo.
Khanom tom
At least I think it's khanom tom. Pretty sure. Could be khanom kho. They're very similar. Staff described them as kinda dumpling balls?
Tumblr media
Google says there's a version that's rolled in coconut flakes. Personally I quite liked the warm coconut cream. It was very nice. I was surprised by how warm it was. I think I expected it to be room temp or cooler, but it was very warm like a warm glass of milk.
While I like coconut, I sometimes get tired of the taste depending on how it's done. But I was surprised by how much I liked the cream with the dumplings that had coconut inside. It's a glutinous rice ball (essentially mochi, same concept). So very chewy. Then there's the coconut filling which is nice. The coconut milk adds a bit of extra depth to it I think.
Khanom Chan
(Steamed layered coconut cake)
Tumblr media
Chewy coconut jelly. Really liked this one. Possibly my favorite idk. I like jelly and they're very pretty. I'm biased. Not as chewy as the khanom chan, but you know... usual jelly texture. The jelly is pretty thick. Thicker than the little jello containers i usually eat. Which I liked. Portion size is very good bc it does seem like Thai sweets can be on the filling side of things. As opposed to idk... a chocolate bar.
The jelly isn't sweet. On the savory side. I was also told this was best eaten warm, though it could be eaten at room temperature.
Leum Kluen
Forget to swallow
Tumblr media
Left is what they're supposed to look like, right is a picture I took on the train home after I ate one. The coconut on top spilled a bit, but it's fine
This was definitely the lightest of the sweets I got. A quick 1-2 bites and it's gone. I think I had 3 or 4. It's a cute little dessert. It's also a bit chewy, but far less so than the others. There's a softer texture. I think it's a bit sweeter? But not by much. I quite liked this one too. Because it's not as heavy it's easier to eat more of them and I can see this being served in larger amounts are parties.
This is also the only dessert I remembered from UMWA that I watched years ago lmao and I get why they wanted it.
Other thoughts and info
I told the staff that I didn't really know anything about Thai food/desserts and that's why I was there. I saw ads for it on IG and decided to stop by (also it was burning outside & I wanted Thai milk tea to revive myself). They just opened & the cafe is only 6 months old, so the person was able to give me recommendations and explanations to the general idea of thai desserts.
Coconut and pandan are very important and that definitely came across. If you want Thai food you must accept the coconut. Luckily I like coconut when served with in/with other foods (though rarely raw by itself). Pandan I've never tried before, but it's not bad.
Thai desserts tend to be very delicate. Gotta make it look good for events and elders they joked. It's also not very sweet. Which is true. I wouldn't call anything I ate sweet, which is probably why I liked them so much. I'm not really a fan of sweet things. But the Thai sweets I had were at a good level where they definitely tasted like a dessert, but didn't overwhelm me with sweetness.
My main knowledge of Thai culture is from media (some rock bands, bl), some acquaintances, and the one time I took a linguistics field research course that happened to be on Thai (was actually one of my fav classes). So I know a bit but it was nice to see more into the cuisine. Especially since I live far from a wider variety of foods in general.
They were a bit different to the sweets I usually eat (if any). So I thought I'd share my thoughts

North Sea Scotland (4): Perth
Tumblr media
The previous entry ended with our departure from Dundee, which was ugly and wet.
Perth, a short drive away, was just wet.  The rain eased, revealing the beauty of this old royal burgh.
It occupies a choice spot on the River Tay where it is both easy to cross and tidal, allowing ships to moor.
This, an information panel revealed, made the city a trade hub in the Middle Ages. It was also designated as a "craftis toun" because of its top-quality products.
Glovers, we learned, were the most influential guild in medieval Perth.  The industry naturally attracted tanners.  The panel included a depiction of their quarter circa 1440:
Tumblr media
Leather-making apparently involved soaking hides into a mix of urine and dogs' faeces.
This, I thought, provided interesting historical background to the Spinal Tap album Smell the Glove.
The oldest house in Perth is said to be "Fair Maid's House".  But the inscription "1393"was suspiciously legible.
Tumblr media
The plaque said the habitation drew its name from Sir Walter Scott's novel The Fair Maid of Perth - which was published in 1828!
In short the house looked to me as medieval as Deep Purple's Book of Taliesyn album (I don't know why walking in Perth put vintage rock into my head.)
But if you're into faux medieval, nothing beats the real thing: Victorian arts-and-crafts architecture.
Perth has plenty of wonderful specimens.  Many, I noted, have been taken over by the food-and-drink industry.
Tumblr media
The above buildings – all from the 1890s – now house Perth's Pizza Express (left), an Indian restaurant (centre) and a pub (right).
The river front is lined with glorious Gothic-revival erections.
Tumblr media
The County Buildings (1881, above) initially a natural history museum is now, predictably, a fancy eatery.
My favourite building is the 1840s police HQ (below).
Tumblr media
Carved into these stern stones is the inscription: "This house hates knaves, crimes punisheth, preserves the laws and good men honoureth."
Contrast that with the "transformative vision" for Scottish justice set out in 2022 "with a focus on creating safer communities and shifting societal attitudes and circumstances which perpetuate crime and harm".
The Tay, the longest river in Scotland, can be fierce in Perth. In days of old, a panel explained, people dealt with flooding by demolishing damaged structures and building new ones on top until the ground was raised to a safe level.
Tumblr media
The above picture was taken from a spot where Perth Castle once stood. It was washed away in 1209.
It was not the last traumatic event to occur at this site.  Dominicans built a monastery on the ruins of the castle. Two centuries later, James I of Scotland died there in unusual circumstances.
James had a habit of dealing ruthlessly with rivals.  But what did for him was not so much his love of power as his love of tennis.   In 1436, he decided to spend Christmas at the monastery.  It had great traveller reviews, as well as an indoor court where he could practice his favourite sport.
Knowing plotters were after him, James familiarised himself with escape routes before settling down for a nice extended holiday.  But there was a problem with the tennis: his balls kept falling down a drain pipe.
The king got so frustrated that he ordered the drain to be blocked.  Three days later his enemies reached the monastery.  He disappeared down a hatch.  The tunnel, however, led to the drain that had been filled with stone.  He was swiftly slaughtered by his pursuers.
Fast forward 122 years.  As a previous post explained, mid-16th century Scotland was ruled by Catholics but ripe for Protestantism.  Knowing which way the wind was blowing, the Calvinist preacher John Knox returned home after 11 years in exile.
In May 1559 he headed to Perth and commandeered St John's Kirk (top image).
From a pulpit surrounded by the paraphernalia of Popish superstition (relics, stained glass windows, painted walls, etc.), Knox inveighed against idolatry.  Whipped into an iconoclastic frenzy, the crowd trashed the church.
The crowds then headed for the Dominican priory and ransacked it.  Perth's three other monasteries – as well all 40 altars in the city - were destroyed in two days of rioting.  Knox went on to repeat the feat at St Andrews cathedral 50 miles away. The Scottish Church fell like a house of cards.
Perth these days is endearingly unthreatening.  During our wanderings we came across a parade.  A crowd cheered as bagpipe players in kilts, aldermen in suits, Scots Guards in Jeeps and Star Warriors in costumes filed past.
Towards the end a brass band played the vintage hit Gimme Some Lovin'.

The next day she began to explore the small town and set herself up to live here till next year.
It would be called a village in England and she reckoned she could walk from end to end in little more than thirty minutes. She found to her delight a small cinema, a gallery, pretty walks along the river (supposedly famous for its birch trees and a possible subject for a painting to sell).
The autumn colours had clung on in sheltered spots along the river and beside the loch so she snapped away with thoughts of painting the same scenes in autumn and winter during her stay.
As her mentor drummed into her; Landscape sells, famous landscapes sell better, and pets sell best. Portraiture does not sell unless the artist or sitter is famous but that is no reason not to paint it. It is the pinnacle of figurative art.
At the independent cafe where she had lunch the friendly owner asked why she was here out of season but did not appear to be overtly hostile so fears of ostracism faded a little.
However when she went shopping for essentials it was clear that food was going to be a problem. There was another (fancier) cafe; a small Italian restaurant that looked enticing and a couple of less appealing options but her budget was too tight to eat out much and the Co-Op had a limited supply of ready meals.
As she picked at her microwaved Mac & Cheese later she suspected she would grow tired of that and ready made Chicken Tikka Masala quickly. Now the fear of starving to death, unable to eat what she had made seemed a lot more likely cause of her demise than sacrificial victim or exposure.
But as she changed into her favourite silk pyjamas and curled up on the sofa to sketch and read she began to relax and let the tension of the last few days leave her body. And she began to realise how tired she was. Tomorrow she would sketch and see if any art store could deliver canvas to her, and if not plan a trip to Glasgow or Edinburgh, but not for a week or so. She was here now and wanted to enjoy this feeling.
She was alone, blissfully alone, in a warm, quiet house, where she could lounge with no one to justify anything to, wearing her glamorous pink Pj top with matching silk shorts cut high on the thigh to show off her long slim legs, toned by barre and yoga. She would wake tomorrow when she choose to and spend the day on her own schedule.
And then she heard a key turn in the front door.
Fuck!
She leapt up and ran to the hall, grabbing a rolling pin from the kitchen, cursing herself for leaving her pepper spray in her backpack hanging on the coat hook on the far side of the hall.
The intruder stood in the doorway, clearly not expecting to be challenged.
“Go away, I’ve nothing of value here and I'm calling the police so you’d better run.”
He looked shocked but made no attempt to flee.
“Who the fuck are you? And to be honest I reckon you could use that rolling pin to bake us something that will be ready before the police bother to drive up from Perth.”
He was taller than her, 6ft at least and broad shouldered. Maybe ten years older than her, his thick brown hair and full beard were streaked with grey. He studied her, almost as surprised to see her as she was him.
“And, I'll call the police myself, what are you anyway, some sort of hippy squatter in posh jammies?”
His voice was thick with arrogance and he held his ground, trying and failing to intimidate her but she regretted her choice of outfit, it not exactly helping the fierce image she was trying to project.
“I live here, till January anyway.” Chloe shouted with fear and anger, “The owner has sent me to house sit until her new tenants move in.”
She made a dash for her backpack and fished out the pepper spray from the front pocket in a single fluid motion that she didn't think she could repeat even with twice the time.
“Back. The Fuck. Off.” She held the pepper spray up and stepped towards him, voice low and cracking with anger.
How dare some prick just waltz in and try and take this away.
“Whoaaa crazy girl with the illegal weapon. That's going in the police report along with squatting,” but he raised his hands, palms up and lowered his voice to something close to conversational.
“So who is the owner who you claim asked you to house-sit, given that I am looking after the place til the Sayyids move up?” Conversational maybe but his tone was mocking.
“Isobel Matheson you smug prick.”
“And she lives round the corner in Athol Drive yeah, let’s go see her then, come on.”
“Fuck off you arrogant wanker. No, she lives in London. She’s my neighbour for the last three years. And friend.”
“Right well done you, so you asked about who owns the place. So whereabouts in London then?”
“Somers Town.”
“Haha nope. She lives in Camden. Not wherever that place is.” He managed to sound even more smug than before, thinking he had caught her out.
“Somers Town is in the Borough of Camden you hick.”
“Is it? Well OK. Maybe it is.”
A hint of doubt seemed to creep into his voice for the first time and she went on the offensive.
“She lives in Walker House, flat 0/18. That’s about halfway between Euston and King cross. She has stupidly expensive wallpaper on her ex-council flat, wears vintage Dior most days and usually has a bottle of champagne in the fridge because Being alive is a celebration enough in itself to drink fizz.”
He gave a chuckle and rubbed his beard.
“Tae be fair that does sound like Wee Auntie Bell. Does she really wear vintage Dior?”
“Yeah she’s on first name terms with all the charity shop owners in Knightsbridge and they call her whenever they get the good stuff in her size.”
“So. Ok. Wee Bell is my Aunt. Great Aunt to be precise. Can I sit down? I’ve driven up from Glasgow and I’m knackered” he moved to go toward the living room.
“No. You can fuck off” she stepped sideways to put her body between him and the living room door and raised the pepper spray higher.
“Isobel gave me this place to look after. Fine you might have a set of keys but I’m house sitting, not you and I don’t want you here, you big fucking oaf.”
“Charming. Shall I call her now?”
“No. She'll be asleep.”
He nodded and leaned against the wall.
“So here’s the thing,” the sharpness had gone from his voice and he sounded weary.
“I told Aunty Bell I would spend the weekends here until Salim and the family move in. I’m working down in Glasgow, crashing in a mates spare room during the week then coming up here Thursday night to work from here Friday and spending the weekend.
“I'm kinda “between flats” at the moment and I love it up here, wee Bell knows that and I know she would be cool with it. I’m definitely her favourite male relative. Although if you have ever met Uncle Malcolm you might say the competition is not that strong.”
He forced a nervous laugh he cut short when he saw she wasn’t amused.
“I messaged her all this and told her I would look after the place and asked Mum and Eilidh to remind her when they next spoke. Only Mum would forget and Eildh probably just wanted to talk to her about wallpaper.”
He sat in the doorway. Cici remained still, pepper spray ready.
“And? I don’t really buy the sob story and frankly don't care. I want you out.” Her fear was gone now but her determination had hardened.
“Fine. Whatever. Just let me stay the night and we can talk about it in the morning.”
“No. What part of Get the fuck Out do you not understand?”
“Fecking hell. They really do breed them differently down in London. Enchante.”
He ran his hands through his hair and slumped deeper, back against the front door.
“So she sent you up until New Year yeah, is that your story? What colour are her eyes?”
“Blue but her left eye has a hazel segment. It’s beautiful and rare and she says it gives her second sight.”
“Fuck.” He sounded defeated,  holding his face in his hands. “Ok, Ok, fine. Crazy scary Auntie sends crazy scary angry London girl 500 miles across the country to house-sit but doesn't bother telling any of her actual family.
“Again, tae be fair that does sound exactly like something Wee Bell would do.” He gave a wry smile in admiration. .
“But don’t chuck me out in the rain. Just one night at least? I’ve driven up from Glasgow in the pissing rain and just want to make something to eat and then sleep.”
“No. I don’t want you here.” She had to be firm.
“Jesus, right, I get it. Ok at least let me phone around and try and work out where i’m going to stay the night. And I have a car full of food that I was planning to cook over the weekend, can I at least put that in the fridge so it doesn't get ruined?”
She nodded and sat on the floor at a safe distance, watching as he called the local hotel and caravan park only to find both closed for maintenance work in the out-of-season, and pre-Christmas dead zone and a search of rooms at the local castle turned spa elicited a;
“Fuck me, no, I can’t afford that for one night.”
He rubbed his forehead and looked thoroughly miserable.
“One night.” She regretted the words as soon as they left her mouth. “Just tonight and clear out in the morning.”
He almost sounded genuine when he thanked her.
“I’ll try and keep it quiet but I need to get this food in the fridge and I haven't eaten since lunch and then i’ll crash out. You’ll barely notice me.”
She grunted as she gathered her sketch pad and novel to go to her room and get away from him.
“Good night,” he called out from the kitchen, his cheerfulness forced, “Oh and nice legs by the way.” She glared at his back from the stairs.
“I’ll have my pepper spray in my hand all night so don't even think about trying anything you creepy misogynist pig.”
“Night night to you too.”

POV Luke Masterlist
Destination: Perth (ao3) - onlythevoid luke/ashton T, 34k
Summary: The stranger swung into the seat next to him and sighed contentedly. Luke stole a glance from under his hat. It was a boy with light-brown messy hair, reminiscent of surfers Luke saw on the beach in Brisbane - he had a t-shirt on and black jeans, and fade-tint round-frame sunglasses propped on his straight nose.
The stranger caught Luke’s eyes.
“Hey?” The stranger asked. Shouldn’t have looked at him, Luke thought. Too late.
The stranger had set his sunglasses on his head and was peering below Luke’s cap. “Dude. You look terrible. Are you okay?”
Oh, so the stranger was one of those guys. Too friendly and ever-inquisitive. Yes, Luke looked like shit; he’d been crying for an hour at a time, every few hours, and all he’d had to eat in the past two days was some wet broccoli at the hospital and a bag of chips he’d bought that morning in Brisbane, and there were bruises all up and down his right arm from a car crash he wished he’d died in.
Luke didn’t say any of that. He prayed his voice would be steady and said, “Yes. Thanks.”
The messy-haired boy did not seem convinced. After a pause, he offered, “My name’s Ashton, by the way.”
i feel the wind in my hair, chasing after you (ao3) - hideforalifetime luke/ashton G, 18k
Summary: Luke works more than he should, is paid less than he should be for the amount of hours he works, goofs off at lunch with Calum, goes home to his dog Petunia in the evening and watches whatever’s on HBO. Then he does it all over again. And he’s sick of it. He wants a change. He wants to be the guy he was in college, free of all worries like rent and bills and all that bullshit. Just walking from class to the dorm to the bar, and every weekend, he’d go off on his own, just him and his motorbike.
Or, the one where workaholic, control freak biker Luke Hemmings meets the most laid back guy he's ever seen. And he's hot, which is a plus.
If I Knew From The Start, Would It Change A Thing? (ao3) - hideforalifetime luke/ashton T, 18k
Summary: Senior year of high school is supposed to be full of fun and drama. Then there's Luke, who's stuck in online school thanks to the pandemic. Between his sinking grades and self esteem, not to mention his parents constantly on his tail for his college choices, he's a mess. On top of all this, and just about everything else that comes with being a teenager, the last thing he needs is for an instagram hottie to turn his life around completely. Like, we're talking full 180. But then, that's exactly what happens
laser tag (ao3) - inanearlieround michael/luke N/R, 1k
Summary: Luke takes Michael somewhere else after an interview trying to figure out how to break through to him.
maybe there's no point in holding onto something closely (ao3) - hideforalifetime michael/luke G, 2k
Summary: He’s run this moment over and over in his head. Every day for four years, Luke’s imagined every possible scenario which would result in a face-to-face with Michael Clifford. His ex-boyfriend, ex-best friend Michael Clifford with the huge square-framed black glasses sliding down onto his round little nose, blonde fringe falling over his green eyes, and the dark bands tattooed on his forearms that Luke liked to trace as Michael glared at a textbook with smoldering intensity. Now here he is, shitting his pants at the prospect of seeing the man again, all while in a restaurant’s clammy, damp, tiny bathroom.
Shoebox - @daydadahlias (cornflowerblue (daydadahlias)) T, 3k
Summary: Luke doesn't think he could live without Ashton. He genuinely doesn't think he could.
Somebody To Love (ao3) - heart_is_gonna_flatline luke/ashton, luke/calum, michael/luke T, 8k
Summary: Luke needs someone to love but can't seem to find the right person. He always turns to his roommate and best friend Ashton for comfort. He meets Calum. Will he be the one for him?
Stranger is Typing... (ao3) - TheLarryDiaries luke/ashton, michael/calum T, 1k
Summary: The story of how Luke and Ashton met on omegle.
the 1 (ao3) - The_Lady michael/luke G, 588
Summary: Luke persists and resists the temptation to ask him; if one thing had been different, would everything be different today?
a taylor swift songfic
‘Twas The Night After Finals (A Visit from St. Nick — Retelling) (ao3) - BabyBaby3 ot4 G, 548
Summary: The boys are awoken in the middle of the night and spend some quality time being soft by candlelight and huddling for warmth.
you've got a million reasons to hesitate (ao3) - hideforalifetime luke/calum M, 6k (WIP)
Summary: “I’m not gorgeous,” Luke argues. “I’m just a normal guy.”
He steps forward, laying a hand on Luke’s waist, sending a pleasant chill down his spine. “If those baby blue eyes aren’t the most beautiful thing anyone’s ever laid their eyes on,” he whispers, “this world is fucking colourblind.”
He knows he’s pretty, and he knows he’s being watched every time he goes out. And that’s alright. He’d probably screw up a serious relationship, anyway.

Whether you're a small local business or a larger enterprise in Perth, our SEO Marketing Services can take your digital marketing efforts to the next level.
Why SEO is Crucial for Your Business in Perth
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of improving your website so that it ranks higher on search engine results pages (SERPs) like Google. Higher rankings lead to increased visibility, which in turn brings more visitors to your website.
Research shows that the majority of users click on results from the first page of search engines, making SEO the key to ensuring that your website appears when potential customers search for products or services you offer. In fact, businesses that rank well in search results often experience more website traffic, improved credibility, and higher conversion rates.
Whether you operate a local Perth business or have a broader audience, SEO plays an essential role in helping you get found online.
Benefits of SEO Marketing Services for Perth Businesses
1. Increased Organic Traffic 🚗
One of the primary benefits of SEO Marketing Services is the significant increase in organic (non-paid) traffic. When your website ranks higher for relevant keywords, it attracts more visitors without the need for costly pay-per-click ads. Organic traffic is valuable because it’s targeted—people searching for your services or products are more likely to become customers.
2. Stronger Brand Visibility 🌐
SEO enhances your brand's online visibility by improving your rankings in search results. The higher your site ranks, the more people will trust your brand. Consistent top rankings on search engines lead to brand recognition, building trust with potential customers and encouraging repeat visits.
3. Improved User Experience 📱💻
A strong SEO strategy isn't just about keywords; it's also about providing a seamless user experience. Our team at iMark Infotech focuses on optimizing the technical aspects of your website, such as fast load times, mobile responsiveness, and easy navigation. By improving user experience, we ensure your visitors stay longer on your website and are more likely to take desired actions, such as making a purchase or filling out a contact form.
Tumblr media
4. Cost-Effective Long-Term Strategy 💸
While paid ads can deliver instant results, SEO provides long-term benefits with a one-time investment. Once your site ranks well, the traffic continues without ongoing expenses. SEO offers a more sustainable, cost-effective approach to online marketing, allowing your business to continue benefiting from improved rankings without paying for ads on an ongoing basis.
5. Local SEO for Perth-Based Businesses 📍
For businesses serving a local community, such as in Perth, local SEO is essential. By optimizing your website and Google My Business listing for location-specific searches, we help your business appear in local search results. Local SEO ensures that your website is visible to nearby customers searching for services in Perth, whether it's "best restaurants in Perth" or "plumbers near me."

Commercial Kitchen Epoxy Flooring: A Durable, Safe, and Hygienic Solution
In the demanding environment of a commercial kitchen, flooring must meet strict standards for durability, hygiene, and safety. Epoxy flooring is a top choice for many in the food service industry, offering a seamless, easy-to-clean surface that can withstand the rigors of daily kitchen activity. Here, we explore the benefits of commercial kitchen epoxy flooring and why it’s become the preferred solution in Perth and beyond.
Why Choose Epoxy Flooring for Commercial Kitchens?
Epoxy flooring is a resin-based coating system that creates a smooth, durable surface resistant to wear and tear. It’s applied as a liquid and hardens to form a protective layer over the existing floor, delivering several key benefits ideal for a high-traffic environment like a kitchen.
Hygienic and Easy to Clean In a commercial kitchen, maintaining cleanliness is paramount. Epoxy flooring is non-porous and seamless, leaving no spaces where bacteria or mold could accumulate. This makes it easier to sanitize, as dirt and spills can be quickly wiped away, keeping the floor clean and safe.
Slip Resistance Kitchens can be high-risk areas for slips and falls, especially with water, grease, and food debris on the floor. Epoxy floors can be customized with anti-slip additives, creating a textured surface that reduces the risk of accidents and improves worker safety.
Durability and Resilience Epoxy flooring can withstand heavy foot traffic, frequent cleaning, and the demands of commercial-grade kitchen equipment. It is resistant to chemicals, oils, and heat, making it highly durable and long-lasting in the challenging conditions of a commercial kitchen.
Aesthetic Appeal Available in a variety of colors and finishes, epoxy flooring can enhance the look of a kitchen space. Many commercial kitchens opt for light or neutral tones to make the space feel brighter and cleaner, but epoxy can be customized to match any design scheme.
Cost-Effective Solution Epoxy flooring is an economical choice, both in initial installation and long-term maintenance. Its durability means it won’t need frequent replacement or costly repairs, saving money over time.
Installation Process
Installing epoxy flooring in a commercial kitchen involves preparing the existing floor by cleaning and sometimes grinding the surface to ensure strong adhesion. A primer coat is typically applied first, followed by several layers of epoxy and any anti-slip additives, creating a sturdy, seamless surface. The process requires downtime, usually around 24-72 hours, but the result is a long-lasting, low-maintenance floor.
Why Epoxy Flooring is the Choice for Perth’s Commercial Kitchens
With Perth’s bustling food service industry, epoxy flooring has become a standard for commercial kitchens seeking a durable, hygienic, and safe solution. Whether it’s for a restaurant, café, or industrial kitchen, epoxy floors provide a professional-grade surface that meets health and safety regulations while also enhancing the kitchen’s appearance.
For businesses in Perth interested in upgrading to epoxy flooring, many local contractors specialize in the installation, offering custom options to meet the specific needs of any kitchen environment.
Considering Epoxy Flooring for Your Commercial Kitchen?
If you’re considering epoxy flooring for your commercial kitchen, be sure to consult with an experienced contractor who can assess your kitchen’s specific needs and recommend the right materials and finish. With epoxy, you’ll gain a flooring solution that supports safety, hygiene, and durability for years to come.

Tumblr media
1. Collaborating with Bees on a Rooftop
In East Perth, a team of window cleaners found themselves sharing a high-rise workspace with a swarm of bees. Their mission was to clean the windows without disturbing the bees while coordinating with an apiarist to safely relocate the swarm. Using low-noise equipment and moving cautiously to prevent vibrations, the cleaners worked meticulously alongside the beekeeper. Their combined efforts ensured both the successful cleaning of the windows and the safe relocation of the bees, demonstrating professionalism and environmental stewardship.
2. Refreshing Windows of a "Haunted" Heritage House
A heritage property in Fremantle, famous for its ghostly tales, required a thorough window cleaning. The team reported strange noises and flickering lights during their work, adding an eerie atmosphere to the task. Approaching the job with curiosity and caution, they worked in pairs and ensured they finished before dusk. Despite sudden temperature drops near certain windows, they remained focused and restored the sparkle to the old house, earning commendations for their courage and dedication.
3. Upside-Down Cleaning for Charity
To raise funds for a local charity, a group of professional window cleaners performed their duties upside-down while harnessed to a skyscraper in Perth's CBD. After weeks of extensive training to perfect their techniques and ensure safety, they used specialized harnesses and controlled movements to prevent smearing the glass. The event not only attracted substantial donations but also provided onlookers with a thrilling spectacle, turning a routine job into an exciting community event.
4. Maintaining an Underwater-Themed Restaurant's Illusion
A trendy restaurant in Scarborough with an underwater theme required window cleaners to preserve its oceanic illusion. The windows, coated with a special blue tint, needed careful cleaning to remove grime without damaging the effect. Working during off-hours to avoid disturbing diners, the cleaners used specialized microfiber cloths and unique cleaning solutions. Multiple inspections under different lighting ensured the windows remained streak-free and the underwater ambiance intact, contributing to the restaurant's immersive atmosphere.
5. Cleaning Solar Panel-Integrated Windows
In Subiaco, an eco-friendly suburb, window cleaners faced the challenge of cleaning windows integrated with solar panels on a commercial building. These panels demanded specialized techniques to avoid damage and maintain optimal energy efficiency. Using non-abrasive tools and purified water, the cleaners prevented scratches and residue that could hinder the panels' performance. Coordinating with building management to temporarily shut off power ensured safety, resulting in spotless windows that continued to contribute to the building's green energy goals.
6. Navigating the "Sky Garden" Apartments
A luxury apartment building in South Perth featured windows adorned with small gardens, presenting a significant challenge for window cleaners. They had to carefully maneuver around plant beds without dislodging soil or leaves onto the areas below. This task involved meticulous planning, including laying protective tarps on lower levels and using extended tools for hard-to-reach spots. The cleaners even took on some gardening duties by watering plants as they worked, demonstrating adaptability and precision in maintaining both the windows and the greenery.
7. Enduring Extreme Heat During a Heatwave
During Perth's scorching summer heatwave, window cleaners undertook the task of cleaning a major retail building amid temperatures exceeding 40°C. To cope with the extreme conditions, they adjusted their schedules to work during early mornings and late evenings, staying hydrated and using cooling vests. Special cleaning solutions were used to prevent rapid evaporation. Their dedication and resilience ensured the building's windows remained spotless despite the challenging weather.
8. Cleaning Animal Enclosure Windows at Perth Zoo
Window cleaners faced an extraordinary task at Perth Zoo, cleaning the windows of predator enclosures, including those housing lions. With the curious big cats observing and sometimes pawing at the glass, the cleaners had to move carefully to avoid startling the animals. Using extra-long poles to maintain a safe distance, they focused on delivering clean windows while ensuring a calm environment for the animals. This job tested their nerves and skills, emphasizing safety and respect for wildlife.
9. Working on the Giant Public Aquarium
The large public aquarium in Perth required expert window cleaners to maintain the clarity of massive glass panels separating marine life from visitors. This unique environment meant working surrounded by water with marine animals, such as sharks, swimming just inches away. The team used scuba gear for certain sections, working both inside and outside the tanks. Special non-toxic cleaning agents were essential to protect the marine life, combining their cleaning expertise with underwater skills for an unforgettable project.
10. Preserving Art on Window Murals
In Northbridge, a new art installation featured intricate murals painted on windows. Window cleaners were tasked with cleaning these windows without damaging or smudging the artwork. Collaborating closely with the artist, they identified areas requiring extra caution. Using gentle, precise tools, they carefully cleaned around the murals, ensuring the glass remained clear without affecting the art. This meticulous job elevated window cleaning to an artistic endeavor, highlighting their attention to detail and respect for creativity.
