Well As That Just Happened
this seems like a good time to mention that if you are at all interested in listening to the Taffy Train Saga the playlist is here on youtube!
it's just a bunch of us goobers playing DnD with various bootleg toon/viddy game characters and having a very good time that doesn't get at all dramatic or sad (it does. don't worry about it.) it is VERY unpro, we are just homebrew humble folk here for the shenanigans anyway I did put a lot of effort into writing the thing and my players did a marvellous job of disembowelling it completely and I think it might be the best thing I ever did for DnD soooo??? yeah!
there is also a masterpost for Toonkind DnD (now including a huge database of transcripts!) for if you want to learn more about this lovely homebrew created by @yunisverse
#Taffy Train#toonkind DnD#wow#wowowow#gonna#go lie down?#im sick with a cold and this was just#honestly a wonderful huge surprise thanks lads what a week

Guess what! I’ve finished an updated version of the Toonkind DnD Games Masterpost. Now with game time, angst rating and extra tabs with more info for anyone who is interested. From this point on I will be updating the new version only but I will not be taking down the old version. Please let me know if you run into any issues.

Hey sorry if I sound like "that one guy" or smth buuuuuut...what's toonkind dnd? What's it about, it looks rlly cool how do you like...get involved in it or something, i can't find the right words my grammer is failing me = n=);
Aaaa, it’s okay Anon!
Toonkind DnD iiis basically Homebrew DnD, except the main people you play as are Living Cartoons! They come in several varieties, and generally come from the continent of Einquell.
Though the stories and characters are generally contained in one ‘verse, there was an explosion of activity over the past year - so now there’s a Lot of story threads, a Lot of campaigns and a Lot of wonderful characters! Including, but not limited to: some Borrower-size Toons, a much more fleshed-out version of AHiT’s Conductor, a deadpan banjo-playing masked man, a snarky rabbit with a peg leg who Does Stunts, and an alien snail.
There is a masterpost here if you’d like to do some Listening to games! I recommend either some of the One-Shots to get a feel for the ‘verse, but if you’re ready to jump into a longer story, Taffy Train is a great starting point!

Toonkind DnD masterpost!
Toonkind are a Roger-Rabbit-esque homebrew race for DnD invented by @yunisverse! You can read more about them here on the DnDBeyond page.
Playlists for listening to Toonkind games from the Einquell server:
-Toonkind Playlist (main list, all games including unedited audio)
-Toonkind Games (full games only, no fps games)
-Toonkind at 12fps (games for character development between two players! often about one hour long)
More specific arcs/game categories:
-Wonderful One Shots (recommended if you’re new to Toonkind, these games require no previous listening and last for only one session!)
-The Taffy Train Saga (a story arc that has become particularly significant, recommended listening if only to avoid spoilers later on!)
-The Neverending Train (run by Ky, inspired by Infinity Train! supes good lots of mini adventures with a mix of new/familiar characters)
-Luck Trio Games (any games featuring 2+ of the three characters with much too much luck and too few braincells: Delta, Sel and Jack)
-Bottomless Heights (do you like Gravity Falls? then you’re going to love where this is going)
-Eight Refrains (follows the story of two cute lil alien UFO babies but also looming threat! has Kirby/Earthbound vibes)
-Star Trio Playlist (do you want a super cute ot3? hell yeah you do)
-There’s Something Funny Going On (games that led up to the reveal of a particularly villainous villain... overlaps with Taffy Train)
Silver Screen (the Drafthouse’s first and ‘main’ adventure, long running and ongoing! Due to early days and some rough terrain the first few games are a bit hard to listen to, we generally recommend that people start on episode 7!)
Ruindall Rambles (a new arc DM’d by Fable and featuring some of the funniest characters yet, seriously the first ep had me literally in tears)
The Eclipse Cathedral (“A lighthearted start to a tense race to the rescue, as the Party Members deal with memories, lost or otherwise”)
Jello Crimes (A family can be a mouse, a gnome, and a wizard who's more than double their height)
The Oddyssey (Ky’s latest and greatest longform campaign involving mysteries, mechanisms and doors that just need to be punched)
Lighthearted Games List! Want to just chill out and have a good time? Have a go at these low-angst high-shenanigans games! there’s also a soft/fluffy feels playlist if you want snuggly games :>
Spreadsheet of all games including transcripts and character credits.
YEAH THAT’S RIGHT WE HAVE TRANSCRIPTS BABEYYY
The Einquell Wiki!
Below the cut are playlists for individuals, in case you want to follow a particular character’s journey so far! Only a few rn but I’ll add more as people make them.
EDIT: these links have broken when youtube is having some issues, so if that is still the case/happens again in the future you can find all these playlists by going to my youtube page of playlists that I’ve made!

I want to get into toonkind DnD but there's just so many now ;; I can't keep track of all the characters, is there a way to do that?
HONESTLY SAME HERE ANON there are now so many players and DMs and characters that although I try to add all the games that happen to this Toonkind DnD playist I am pretty sure it is beyond any mortal being to listen to all the games/keep track of everyone. I try to always put the players/characters in the video description, and I have the ole Engineer games playlist here and another one for Alibi here, but I would have enormous trouble making playlists for every character by myself...
I might just ask the server if people would be willing to make playlists for their own characters/story arcs that I can make a masterpost here? That might be helpful for all sorts of reasons! I also meant to make a one-shot playlist with games that need no previous listening to get an example of what the games are like, but as I haven’t listened to all the games we have it’d be a limited spectrum. I’ll see if I can find time to do these things!
EDIT: there is now a list of one-shots! I will be adding to it when new ones are added or I am told about previous games (which I haven’t listened to) that fit into this category; they require no previous listening and last for one game!
EDIT2: there is a spreadsheet of all the games so far! it has links to the youtube videos, transcripts (if they exist), and a list of the players/characters involved! Thanks to Candlestic for compiling all this data and making it available :D
#toonkind DnD#it's really big now like#it's fun but! man#that's a lot of games my dudes#masterpost#that's this now?!#I might make a tidier one later when I have a brain

Hope you don't mind me asking but what exactly is the toonkind discord server? As far as I understand toonkind itself is a d&d homebrew so is the server just one big group all playing one game or is it like a hub to find your own group? How many people are there? Is it an open server? (It looks like mighty fun.) And are all the games recorded and put on youtube or is that unrelated? (So many questions!) Thank you in advance!
many questions, all valid and I get asked them a lot so I’ll make this one of those FAQ posts I wheel out now and again to answer! also shamelessly borrowing some excellent summaries from @ky-the-squiddy who is one of our DMs and is much better at words about things than me
1) What the peck is Toonkind?
Toonkind is a homebrew D&D5e race created by @yunisverse in order to celebrate animation of all kinds, and also to get to play as cartoons that do silly things like get (temporarily) squished by falling safes and getting into literal dustcloud fights. You can find the the Toonkind homebrew race sheet on DnDbeyond here and we now also have Hausen (stop motion) and Yupyean (UPA) alongside the original Frankenalie, Rubberhose and Warne subrace variants. On the whole those styles cover a lot of types of animation/character feel, though there may be more added eventually.
2) What’s the server like?
Big. Golly it’s big. It’s a mash of us talking toons and playing games, and there’s now so many games we have 6 channels for playing them in! This is also why it is now, on the whole, a closed server save for friend invites, because we simply have so many people it’s difficult to manage (we have more DMs now, which is great! but as always there are many more players than DMs and games, so people have to be patient to get a turn). It is, however, a lovely creative space and I’m hugely grateful for it every day.
We have several people who are dedicated DMs, and also people who have single one-shots that they want to try and so DM temporarily. There’s usually several small campaigns running, as well as plenty of one-shots. When a DM announces that they’re looking for players, anyone is welcome to throw their hat into the ring. Sessions usually have their audio recorded so that people on the server who might have missed the game can still listen to what happened.
3) I am new and want to listen, how do I start?
Go to this post here for advice on that!
4) Can I play as a Toonkind in my own game/make my own campaign?
Heck yes please do please do. Talk it over with your DM, as not all of them are okay with Homebrews (especially ones as potentially reality bending as toons!) but absolutely I cannot imagine anything better.
5) Why do I keep seeing characters that look like Mickey Mouse/Oswald the Lucky Rabbit/The Conductor/Some other character from a piece of copyrighted media?
Because the media is copyrighted, and some of us really like the characters from the media that is copyrighted, and we want to play as those characters without having to deal with any issues that may or may not surround them due to copyright. So we take the character and stick their names in a blender and oh! Hey! Look! Brand New, Totally Unique Original Character, Do Not Steal.
6) What is Frankenalie referencing?
Two really cool dudes.
7) Is there a wiki where I can learn more about the world/characters?
YES! It’s WIP but there is! Be warned though some of the pages do contain spoilers for the games but absolutely go have a snoop.
aaaand that’ll do as a mass post! If there are any other FAQ things I might add them into this but I hope that this helps! :>

In what order do the toonkind arcs go? I know taffy train is the first, but what’s the order after that? And do you have links to all of them?
actually, it’s not necessarily! it’s just a good one to listen to first bc man Stuff Happened and it gets referred to in several other games. This Toonkind DnD playlist is not exactly chronological but it basically is, and most of the first games are one-shots so it doesn’t matter what order you listen to them in *before* Taffy Train.
Speaking of I have now made a Taffy Train Saga playlist! It has the key games but also the side games that relate to it so you can go nuts on that.
Other ‘arcs’ are the Neverending Train games run by Ky, and the Eleventh Law series and related games, originally run by Yuni. Another sort-of-arc of its own is Calling All Stars and the subsequent acting lessons! There’s a lot of Dodo Studios games now so I might make a playlist for that too.
Due to how complex its become I have made a playlist just for the Engineer’s journey, which is in chronological order and I’ll try to keep it that way (including putting in any new NETrain games, which actually precede the Taffy Train Reunion game), and I’ve just made a playlist for Alibi as well bc he’s been in quite a few games himself which do benefit from being listened to in order.

Is there a specific, like. Way to do Toonkind D&D 'officially?' By approaching someone or otherwise? Or is everybody doing their own thing and getting connected here and there? Binging some of the games struck me with inspiration and now I don't know what to do because I don't have anyone to set up a personal game with close friends or something
as ever there's a Toonkind masterpost here you can check out (there's always a link to it on my main blog page), and Toonkind is a homebrew DnD race created by @yunisverse who is super cool and anyone can use it!
Joining the og discord is a bit tricky these days and anyway it had to undergo the Great Splittening because it got super huge. Like, crazy huge man. Basically there is no official toonkind, you can make an OC regardless, and if your DM is cool with it you can play them in any DnD game! You can however follow the games of certain characters/arcs we play by looking in that masterpost link.

realtalk bc of those first pictures of Engineer comforting Ingo I finally caved and started listening to his playlist and now I have my OWN new comfort character ;; he is TRYING. SO HARD.
WAAA THANK YOU also yes if you are like ??? and want to dip a toe into the bonkers world that is Toonkind DnD here is the Engineer's playlist (very much ongoing!)
People have asked for the main campaign but the thing is there isn't one! Toonkind is a big rambly many many players game where there are multiple DMs and storylines, it's practically a sandbox/multiverse rpg world. So much so that we've now split off from the original server into multiple others but I still put all the games into the playlist because I've lost control of my life. The masterpost has more information if you want to have a look!
#it's very fun but also my god. it got lore my guys#Toonkind#Toonkind DnD#the Engineer#HE IS TRYING HIS BEST#AND SO AM I

hi mod! just wanted to let you know that the playlist links on your toonkind dnd masterpost appear to be broken on desktop. hope you're having a good day, love your blog! :D
oh that’s. that’s really weird and annoying, I’ve repeatedly tried to link back to the playlist but it doesn’t seem to work! it used to, so I can’t help but assume something weird is going on with youtube (again)- sorry! if anyone has advice on that I’d be grateful! the other solution is to go to my youtube which has my list of playlists so you should be able to find them via that route
this seems to be the case with all the links so until that’s fixed you’ll have to use this method instead! sorry folks- I’ve added that link to the masterpost in case the problem continues or it happens again in the future!
