[Video ID: A video of a white cat on a blue leash walking in Lowe's. There is a rock solo that fades in to start the video. The video is captioned "Bonding with my male cat but idk what men do for fun so I took him to Lowe's". There are two different shots of the cat walking in different sections before the video shows the cat up close, and it meows at the camera. It is then captioned "I need organizers for my toolbox". The cat then turns and continues walking and the caption changes to "not foam", then "*walks up to next person*" as the cat looks to the left. The cat meows to the left side and the caption says "hey". The video then has a close up shot of the cat meowing again and the caption says "I know more than you." The cat walks on and the caption says "*walks away*". The next video shot shows an added Lowe's bucket to the leash line and someone says "Louie we can't spy on people". A caption is made in blue to caption what the person says. The cat walks forward and the caption changes to say "*goes to spy on person*". The video ends with a tiktok ending and says "@louiethelilacra" and cuts off. End ID]
Hey, when you do video IDs, please don't do this. If you're going to make an ID make it geniune or don't make it at all. What you did makes a mockery of disabled people's needs and accesibility. Don't be an ableist piece of shit like this again please.
@cat-source I encourage tou to add my video description to the original post. If you do, please credit me for it.

Merchant of Reibnitz
II.
I remember the first time I landed on those boardwalks. Newly varnished then, but peeling with antiquity now.
The salty sea musk and your cherry and grapeshoot perfume dancing together in a rickety hodgepodge scent not readily forgotten.
Vividly do I remember the hustle and bustle of the dockyard, the sounds of pummeled tacks bending under blows of the hammer; their brethren jingling like chimes in the journeyman's heavy toolbox. Apprentice woodworkers splitting logs with maul and adze under the supervision of a sage in the craft, and teams of men trimming planks to size with draw knife and side ax.
The shavings of ash and aspen fell like snow in the dark.
We walked through the promenade, brushing past transient vagrants and wandering wastrels alike. I remember following the scarlet streaks your costume cast as a cat would yarn. You needn't have even held my hand, for my guide would be spectral ribbons trailing a whirling path through the masses.
You towered above the streets, not in stature but presence, in aura. Your silver headpiece like a diadem glinting as moonlight skitters across sea foam, spiny protrusions branched out like forked lightning darting across the void - now frozen in time.
Dythed isn't how I remember it. Cold and bereft, though - don't mistake me - still indubitably ‘alive’. The streets are populous and rife with all sorts of characters - good and ill alike as you'd expect of any port city - but, it can be described as ‘alive’ only as far as you would a machine, where once a beating heart now lay cogs and oiled mechanisms - undoubted improvements in efficiency yes, but at the cost of what?
People are on edge, to put it bluntly, and are as unwilling to converse as they are to stamp a single calsak. I've been here for the better part of 4 days now as I write during the last light of the 22nd (I made landfall in the early morning of the 18th), and while my hopes for Dythed of memory have dwindled; they've been replaced with something else entirely.
I've spoken to Lautrec. You didn't tell me he was our Lautrec, of the Pyanese Bank? Honestly I had no idea that he was still on the continent, let alone still the head of the bank.
I remember how you used to talk so highly of him, “colour in a grey world” was my favourite way in which you tried to place him.
Oh, how I'd wished to meet Lautrec in the carefree days of my youth. The merryman of Malka, getting up to bounds of mischief with the daughter of the greedy high priest.
How he’d miraculously escape by the skins of his teeth, bags of holy relics in tow and temple guards swooning over the sounds of his golden lyre.
I wasn't sure how much of it was make-believe and how much was a children's imagination, but I don't think I cared. He was a force of charismatic good against the onrushing of evil. And I think any child deserves that.
My meeting with him didn't betray his character - believe me - he was as charming and.. colourful as your storied descriptions of him had led me to believe, though I think I caught him at a particularly bad time. He'd almost winced when he heard the family name “von Reibnitz” and I suspect he was dreading our meeting occurring under such conditions; he and I both.
His office was entirely swathed in letters, documents and assorted papers from all corners of Id - almost comically so. I would have laughed if not for the reality that they weren't a metaphorical set piece, and he must comb through them meticulously before the year is out. I worry for him in all honesty.
In any case, Lautrec - after checking my details into the bank - promised to organize a meeting one week hence (it's been 4 days since then so 3 days from writing this) where we can be properly introduced and there, he said, he would make good of that favour he owes you. You really must tell me that story for the upteenth time, it's so bizarre I can never remember anything past the meeting with the pelithrope.
I do wonder how he ended up as overseer of finance, or better yet: why has he stayed? He never struck me as one for laws, much less the ones that deal with loans and repatriations. Perhaps I'll ask him.
My first night in Dythed was spent under a bridge. I expect Lautrec may have arranged something if I’d asked, but it simply felt wrong to ask more of him after seeing his condition. That at least, let me clasp onto some measure of dignity, even in such an undignified position. A beggar can't complain however; it kept the rain off my head and let me gauge the crowd I was working with. Not good, to say the least. Selling anything, even at dirt cheap prices, is like pulling teeth to these people.
“Fine Dukstra silks?” I say
“How much?” They cough back
“1 column and 4 calsaks per metre” (barely working at a profit here)
“Good day, ma’am.”
Not even worth the haggle, I say? It's ridiculous. These people have no sense in quality, they'd rather the mass produced wool from Marlen as if it weren't pulp paper and were instead fine canvas!
Still, it's not all bad. Before I packed up shop for the night, I met a wonderful washerwoman who, in exchange for my fair share of calsaks, offered to go halves on her lodging for the time being: which happened to be the attic of a local hostel on the outskirts of town - called The Red Lantern (I'm unsure as to why as the lanterns are of a normal yellowish hue).
As I say, beggars can't be choosers and who am I to downturn an extended hand? Could very well be the one and only I'm likely to receive here. So I accepted her offer, and after a short fiasco of arranging space for my bedroll and furs, here I am. Settled at last.
How could I have forgotten? You're probably dying to know the name of my savior! Her name is Emiliana, though not of any house, so Emiliana it is.
Not many descend from noble families here in Dythed, or so Emiliana says. I prefer it that way, business is cleaner when familial ties aren't meddling with things. I think I'll be rid of my family name for the time being and just be a Matilde - titles won't do me much good here I fear, I'm sure you understand.
The attic room is admittedly a bit… quainter than I’d rather, I ought to have a mountainous red bump erupting from my skull from how often I'd shot up from a particularly horrid dream or some such and whacked my head on the plaster.
But, it's also homely, warm and clean. Emiliana is a talented cook (she's laughing but it's the whole truth), her cooking makes me reminisce about young Caitlyn's cuisine back at the manor. Her cherry and fig puddings, the red velvet! Oh the smell! Do you remember it? It's devilishly hard to forget!
I expect I’ll write to you again following my meeting with Lautrec, and in the meantime I'll see if I can wrangle a few stamped calsaks from the passerbys. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll manage a column. Though I'm certainly not out of the hot water, I have a good feeling about Dythed.
With love and well wishes,
Matilde

How Can a Quality Tool Mat Improve Your Workspace?
When it comes to crafting the perfect workspace, every detail matters. As a mechanic or DIY enthusiast, you understand the importance of a well-organized and efficient environment. One often overlooked but incredibly valuable addition to your toolkit is a quality tool mat. In this article, we'll explore the various ways a top-notch tool mat can elevate your workspace, making your tasks smoother, more enjoyable, and even enhancing the lifespan of your tools.
Tumblr media
The Foundation of a Productive Workspace
Your workspace is more than just a place to get the job done; it's a sanctuary of productivity and creativity. The tools you use daily deserve a comfortable and protective surface to rest on, and that's where a quality tool mat enters the scene.
1. Surface Protection
Imagine your prized wrenches and sockets resting on a cold, hard surface. Overtime, this can lead to wear, scratches, and even rust. A premium tool mat acts as a cushion, providing a soft surface that protects your tools from unnecessary damage. This not only maintains the aesthetic appeal of your tools but also ensures they stay in top-notch condition, ready for action whenever you need them.
2. Enhanced Grip and Stability
Working on intricate tasks requires precision, and precision demands stability. A quality tool mat, designed with a non-slip surface, ensures that your tools stay put, reducing the risk of accidents and improving overall safety. Whether you're torquing a bolt or delicately maneuvering small components, a stable work surface enhances your control, making your job more accurate and efficient.
3. Comfort for Prolonged Tasks
Long hours in the garage or workshop can take a toll on your body. A tool mat with adequate thickness provides a comfortable surface, reducing fatigue during prolonged tasks. It's not just about protecting your tools; it's about looking out for your well-being too. Your knees and back will thank you for the added cushioning a quality tool mat provides.
Choosing the Right Tool Mat
Not all tool mats are created equal, and selecting the right one for your workspace is crucial. Here are key factors to consider:
1. Material Quality
Look for tool mats crafted from durable and resilient materials. High-quality rubber or foam mats offer excellent longevity and resistance to wear and tear. Check product specifications and reviews to ensure the material meets the demands of your workspace.
2. Size and Thickness
Consider the size of your workspace and the types of tasks you undertake. A larger mat provides more coverage, while thickness adds to comfort. Strike the right balance based on your specific needs. It's about finding the sweet spot that complements your workflow.
3. Easy Maintenance
A tool mat should make your life easier, not add to your maintenance chores. Opt for mats that are easy to clean and resistant to common workshop spills like oil and grease. This ensures that your workspace remains clean and your mat maintains its functionality over time.

After visiting Ry McCullough in his studio back in May to see what he was working on, I was very excited to finally see his exhibition SUPERPOSITIONS at Art Center Sarasota. His mixed media sculptures capture the imagination as the viewer imagines the connections between the objects in the work. The titles provide often humorous clues, but make sure to check out his Instagram for more background on his inspirations.
About the work from the center-
McCullough’s practice engages the fields of printmaking, creative writing, drawing, sound, and sculpture to create unique systems that probe the margins and boundaries of how art crafts language and communicates meaning. Using these systems of making as a guide for a range of media processes, they articulate parameters that can expand or collapse, generating opportunities for discovery in thematic investigations of the philosophical, abstract, and fluid state of being across time and space. SUPERPOSITIONS is inspired by an affection for the traditions of still life, modernist abstraction, and humor.
Artist Statement-
The SUPERPOSITIONS project comprises works of collage, sculpture, and wall-bound hybrids that exist between two-dimensional and three-dimensional space. The tension between these two spatial expressions is celebrated within this project through the playful application of collage. More than a tradition of material operations, McCullough views collage as a bundle of behaviors, a toolbox, and a signifier of fragmentation that forms an ethos of revision and reorganization.
McCullough is attracted to humble materials such as plywood and paper, concrete and plaster, foam and found things, essential stuff that requires intervention to establish meaningful presence through the relations it forms to other components in each work. The formal language is idiosyncratic; combinations of hard and soft edges, geometric and organic form, and a buffet of color with a penchant for balance. These works are propelled by the forces of potential change, by the energies of process, and by developing a poetic and clumsy status of unfinishedness.
This exhibition closes on Saturday, 9/30/23.
