Through a rabbit hole from that Dr. Seuss Yaoi post I've found out you were the source of Tony x Grinch. Horrifying. You absolute legend.

In my defence, I merely proposed the idea. It was @iguanamouth drawing it that really made it take off – I'm, like, at most 30% to blame.

You know it's REALLY the holiday season when Gaud's Grinch x Tony fic starts going around again

The images suggest that while the friendly and cheerful Tony the Tiger is so bitter and jaded about the relationship that he insults the Grinch at any given chance, it's the supposedly cold-hearted and evil Grinch who never says a bad word about his former love.

Not that it gives Grinch a pass for how he later steals shit from the Whovillians - an unrelated third party at that. But no wonder he's irritated when it comes to holiday get-togethers and overly glamorous feasts. That was something he used to do with Tony.

The pic Tony has shows a more raucous side of the Grinch. It's a party with friends or possibly a college frat house. Everyone's drinking, Grinch looks like a mess and is squinting at the lights. Its a HORRIBLE pic for all it shows everyone having a good time.

The pic Grinch has though? It's softer, looks like them on a date or walk together and one of them asks a passerby if they can take a pic for them. Grinch looks happier, like he's laughing at something unintentionally silly (or raunchy) Tony accidentally said and Tony's frantically trying to correct himself but only digging himself deeper.

Those two pics show how Tony and Grinch each see the other person. Tony, with his bitterness and spite, sees only the worst of Grinch. Grinch, with a broken heart already far too small, sees only the best of Tony.

Also I see Snagglepuss in the background of the party. Did Tony rebound with him or was he just a friend of a friend who photobombed the pic? Did Snagglepuss - who had a Kellogg's commercial in the 60s so its fully possible that he and Tony worked together for a bit - introduce him to someone from Hanna-Barbera in between the breakup and post-Whoville meetup? How does Snagglepuss view the relationship and did he take sides (or refuse to, even if he was with Tony)?

every time i listen to “you’re a mean one mr. grinch” i can’t help but sit there and think “what did the grinch do to hurt you?” because dude just stands there for 2 minutes and 58 seconds and drags the grinch into the dirt

joking aside, I love this site. I have learned so much from this site. I have received so much love and support from this site, and I hope to be here for years to come (especially now that we accidentally won Least Worst Social Media Platform, despite our very best efforts)

that being said, taking a break was really helpful for me mentally. it made me realize how much pressure I was putting on myself to keep people entertained so they would like me. I'm talking like, 'rereading & editing a single dumb shitpost a dozen times a day' levels of overthinking.

So yeah: I love it here, I plan to keep making people (and myself) laugh, but going forward I'm going to be putting less pressure on myself to be as entertaining/active as i used to aim for. Less "I choked on my gogurt" levels of humor, more "sensible chuckle." (sometimes I may even indulge in a joke that purposefully fails to resonate with the audience! it will be quite a mischievous little treat for me 🤭.)

yeah.

i was just rereading that absolute rollercoaster of a post about the person who submitted it as a school assignment at a catholic school (omg i still can’t get over that 😂) so now i’m imagining a new Christmas tradition (if you celebrate Christmas) where we all read that fanfic in place of the night before christmas, but like in a children’s book form.

i am essentially saying that i want someone (be it myself or someone else with way too much time on their hands) to make a fully illustrated, rhyming Christmas picture book based on that fanfic that would then become a bestseller and, for a small number of people, a Christmas eve tradition.

A/N I'm so sorry for being so unorganised I thought something like this would be easy but I realised that it takes a ridiculous amount of planning so next time when I do an event like this I'll plan it for a couple more weeks in advance, but at least I can learn from this mistake. The last few fics for my 100 followers celebration SHOULD be coming out over the next few days so thank you for your patience. Also, likes, comments and reblogs are appreciated.

Summary Tony is a bit of a Grinch and you plan to change it

Christmas wasn’t Tony’s favourite time of year, if anything he hated it. It wasn’t hard to understand since he had spent many years alone as each day bled into another with the drink, drugs and women.

However, you were determined to get Tony into the Christmas spirit this year. The first step of your plan was to take him shopping for decorations.

“Come on Tony, stop being such a grinch, we're going shopping whether you like it or not,” you told him with your arms crossed.

“I can just get F.R.I.D.A.Y to order them for us,” he retorted with a pout on his face.

You walked over to him and kissed his pouty lips, “It will be fun babe, I promise,” you gave him the sweetest smile you could conjure.

“Fine, only because I love you,” he responded, kissing you again.

“And I love you too,” you grabbed his hand and practically dragged him out the door.

“What do you think of these baubles?” you asked Tony.

“They look good, they’ll go with the tree,” he replied.

Tony wasn’t ready to admit it, but he had started getting into the Christmas spirit. He was starting to enjoy this shopping spree that he almost didn’t join you on.

“We’ll get these then,” you put them in the basket with a smile on your face.

You noticed Tony’s new interest in the decorations which was unexpected but made you happy.

“I think that’s it for this shop,” you walked over to the till and Tony emptied the basket.

Two hours of shopping later, you were back home with countless bags spread across the living room. 

“Please can you help me decorate?” you asked Tony.

You walked over to him and sat in his lap, “Pleeeease.”

Tony rolled his eyes, “You owe me,” he told you with a playful smirk.

You smiled and grabbed his hand. You took him over to the tree you put up in the corner of the living room and handed Tony a box of baubles.

“Put them anywhere you think it looks good,” you told him.

He raised his eyebrow, “really?”

“Yeah. I’m aware that I’m a perfectionist on everything else but I promise decorating the tree is supposed to be fun, not perfect.”

You both took baubles out of the box and put them on the branches. Around 40 minutes -and a lot of messing around- you were finished. 

“Oh shit,” you exclaimed.

“What?” Tony asked, concerned.

“We forgot to put the lights on the tree.”

Tony looked at the tree and then at the lights on the floor, “I could still get them on, I’ll just have to be careful,” With that, Tony picked up the string of lights and carefully put them around the tree.

Once he was finished, he pulled back to look at the tree but had knocked five baubles off in doing so.

“Shit!” he shouted which made you laugh, “It’s not funny,” he told you whilst trying to hold in his laugh.

“I think it looks amazing babe,” you said.

“Me too, but I’m tired. We can finish decorating tomorrow, ” Tony feinforced this with the fakest yawn you've ever seen.

“Seems like it,” you grabbed the other decorations and put them in a box ready for the next day. 

Then, Tony got onto the couch and started to flick through the channels on the tv before deciding to look through Netflix.

You walked over to Tony and smiled at his concentrated face.

He looked up at you and mentioned with a smirk on his face, “You owe me still.”

“What do I owe you Tones?” you didn’t know what answer to expect since Tony was so unpredictable.

“You owe me cuddles on the couch while we watch the Grinch,” he said, grabbing a blanket and shuffling back on the couch.

“One, you are the Grinch and two, that sounds fair,” you replied, smiling and getting onto the couch. Tony just rolled his eyes in response.

You shuffled back so Tony was spooning you and his chin was resting on your head. He threw the blanket over you and kissed your head. You both stayed like that until you fell asleep.
