I’ve low-key always wanted a sibling-like relationship for Tomo. Lots of antics, a little shouting and shoving, but a lot of growth fostering and awkward bonding. Like a brother! I feel like those dynamics are underrated.

🍋  :    what kind of diet does my muse have?  do they eat regularly,  or the standard 2-3 meals a day?  do they have to be reminded to eat,  or are they likely to remind others?  do they cook,  or have others cook for them?  do they eat healthily,  or not so much?  

Fruit! Lots of fruit. But not only fruit, since that’s honestly a super unhealthy diet.

Tomo certainly does love her fruit though. She also will happily eat any form of seafood, most roast meats, baked goods, and the like. She’s had almost no experience with noodles or far eastern food (That should be fun to explore in the future! Many noodles will end up on laps due to chopsticks), and she hates eggs.

She’ll remember to eat breakfast at the very least, and dinner (eventually), but lunch is touch and go depending on work and focus. Sometimes she’ll work through midday and not realize she needs to eat until a tool slips thanks to the low blood sugar shakes. She miiiight remind others to eat, at least when speaking to them (despite it being hypocritical), and will stress the value of taking care of theirself.

Tomo does cook, though! She’s learned to roast a mean [insert protein or veggie here], and is slowly learning how to bake via trial-by-fire! She even carves her own cookie cutters :D

1) What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?

All of about five minutes unless she is positively exhausted, then maybe 15 if she’s lucky. Tomo hates having an idle mind, and the easiest way to combat that is to engage in something, whether that be a project, studying, tending to Bernard, or even chatting up random people. She manages to maintain enthusiasm well when it comes to projects and inspiration at least, so it’s not always a struggle to be busy. She hasn’t quite learned to be okay with silence and simple moments of rest yet.

13) What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?

Hmmm, I’d say she thinks she looks best in yellow, thinking it makes her look bright and sunny (in a literal manner. Plus it being the natural color of Chocobos) but that’s certainly not the case! If you ask me, she looks best either in purple/lavender, red, or neutral browns :D Something that either compliments or contrasts her green hair, essentially. Reminds me that I have some screenshots that I’d like to take of her in formal wear, for the day she’d have a reason to actually wear it IC...

She wanted so desperately to heal.

The pain burned. But it didn’t burn bright, oh, no. It burned like an errant ember floating through a parched wood, waiting to flare. It had been over fifteen years. She would say it was long ago. But no. The pain never subsided. No matter the attempts to suffocate it, drown it, snuff it out, it always remained alive.

The ridicule. The abuse. The pure torture and anguish her body and mind had been dragged through at such a young age. The nights she would wake, silent tears coating her cheeks, only to be unceremoniously rubbed away before rising for the day.

Every day, a smile. A toothy grin. Flicking ears and tail as she greeted all she encountered with bubbly enthusiasm. If she could laugh, it didn’t hurt. If she could smile, the pain wasn’t there, right?

It almost worked, some days the thoughts would only begin to surface before they were buried once more. Every day she packed full. Jobs, chatter, studies -- if she wasn’t given the time to think, how could she feel that pain?

Slowly, her endurance built through pure determination. Through sheer force of will. 

Keep going. Must stay afloat. More techniques to learn. More people to help. More conversations to be had. 

Hands and mind always busy. 

She feared being alone. Being alone meant she only had her thoughts.

Those thoughts were never good company.

Random Fact!

Tomo hates Shroud Hares. Those big, giant slugs that roam the forest floor of the the Shroud? Yeah, those. She can easily find most creatures cute, however during her first few nights in the Shroud post-migration, she decided to hunker down for the night inside of a rotten log with Bernard to take shelter from the rain. She was so filthy and in desperate need of a bath that the clinging funk and debris attracted a pair of the giant slugs, the poor girl waking up to slimy, clammy, wiggly nasties trying to eat the rags and dirt from her body (thankfully failing and waking her up before they succeeded). They took quite a bit of effort to peel and throw off, the slime doing well in adhering them to her as s he ran from the log, hopping about while shrieking in distress.

If ever she manages to come across one, the hair of her tail wastes no time standing on end.

👍 - what (if any) is a good, safe touch for your character?

Hmm, I wouldn’t say there aren’t many bad touches for her, though not many good either. Most are received with confusion or slight discomfort due to not having been exposed to much affection throughout her life. The safest are seen as more professional touches, such as handshakes. Clasps on the shoulder are okay as long as they don’t linger. Hugs could be okay provided they’re from someone whom Tomo has trusted for some time.

Patting of her head is rarely acceptable and could lead towards an unforeseen bitten hand depending on her mood and whether or not they respect her asking them to remove said hand.

Lifetrap - Tomo’ka Naari

The emotion most recurring in you is shame. Shame is what you feel when your defects are exposed. You will do almost anything to avoid this shame. Consequently you go to great lengths to keep your defectiveness hidden. You feel that your defectiveness is inside you and not immediately observable. You feel like you have to pretend to be someone you are not to be accepted. You hide your true self to fit in, but that also means that many people in your life will never know the real you.

At your core you feel completely unworthy of love. It is possible that you struggle with feelings of depression – a kind of low-level depression always lurking in the background. You may be drawn to partners who are critical of you and put you down. They generate high chemistry, but reinforce your feelings of defectiveness.

It is likely that you spend a lot of time comparing yourself unfavorably to others and feel inadequate as a result. You feel like an impostor when you are successful. You are anxious that you cannot maintain your success. Your sense of well-being is fragile, and even small setbacks or failures may be enough to make you nervous and stressed. To feel humiliated and inadequate, as if the whole world is about to catch sight of your defectiveness.

Ooh, good questions! Let’s see...

🍏  :    how stable is my muse’s physical health?  do they go for regular or semi-regular checkups by a physician?  do they have any diagnosed illnesses and / or take any medication?  how often do they get sick?

I would say that nowadays Tomo is pretty healthy! On a day to day basis there’s little to no sign of her past weakness growing up. It’s not too often a cold or illness knocks her on her butt. But when something does... hoo-boy does it knock her flat on her butt. A cold that’d have someone down for a day or two would likely knock her out for a week. She probably doesn’t even realize that regular checkups are a thing, and definitely doesn’t take medicine regularly, if at all if she can help it. This is definitely something I could expand upon for her!

🍐  :    how intelligent is my muse overall?  are they smarter than the average person,  or less than?  are they primarily self-taught,  or did they acquire most of their knowledge in school?  are they more street smart or book smart?   

Hmmm, I wouldn’t say Tomo is rounded in her smarts, so to speak. Her determination makes up for lack of natural intelligence, able to drill at something long enough until she starts to understand it, though that’s usually the fastest route to exhaustion for her. She has a bit of a natural knack for math in her head, along with pretty keen eyes for detail, otherwise any other knowledge was picked up purely for the sake of survival. She’s certainly a curious type though, and will ask others questions about what they do near-relentlessly.

While Tomo desperately desires to constantly be preoccupied, whether that be with a project or chatting with a stranger, she has a difficult time with getting truly close to people. She tries as she might to make friends, though! She may come on a little strong when speaking to someone for the first time, but when it comes to subsequent meetings, she starts to get a little nervous the closer she becomes because she’s just never quite had the opportunity to build trusting connections with people. There’s always a first time for everything, though!

Okay, answering this OOC! (Someday I’ll actually edit/proofread my answers, but that day is not today!)

34:  How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?

Regarding shaking guilt… It can be pretty difficult for Tomo. Having a rather difficult upbringing (to put it simply) she had a very hard time not having an inherent sense of guilt of her existence to begin with. She does fight the daily fight of fostering, building, and maintaining a chipper demeanor with the goal of not needing to fake her smile -- which as of the past few years has been something she’s been achieving at least when in the public eye where it’s easier to not let her thoughts get the best of her. Though if something strikes a weak spot mentally, whatever it was can lurk in the back of her mind and fester for some time. Her method of tacking problems most often starts with simply trying to get over it, but when that doesn’t work, she’ll reach out to whomever, though more often than not she’ll be visibly strained as she does. But as someone who lives for helping others, failure to do so can shake her foundation rather dangerously.

11: How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)

Coping with confusion can be among a wide spectrum of things! The most basic of confusion would either be laughed at and shrugged off as a non-issue, assuming she’s simply not the smartest person out there so she’s not bound to understand everything. If it’s something of interest to her, or concern of someone whom she has high opinions/respect/interest in, she’ll outright ask for clarification, borderline pestering until she does finally understand the matter. Deep, troubling confusion is the problem nine times out of ten, usually involving her own feelings or the feelings of others. Those lurk for some time, often surfacing as thoughts while taking brief breaks or during quiet moments, slowly chipping away at her demeanor until she needs to talk about it. It can take days, weeks, or even months, along with considerable tears and exhaustive nights up thinking. If she can no longer reach someone involved with the concern, she’ll often sit and talk to Bernard (Her chocobo) until she can make some sort of sense of things, whether it’s forced for the sake of personal comfort, or a natural conclusion. 

E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?

I’d totally be friends with Tomo! She has a sense of determination I only wish I possessed within my personal life. Though she’d also likely be the type of person I’d find myself lecturing often to take care of herself before others more consistently, and she’d lecture me on not being so lazy about pursuing dreams/talents, hah! Also, mutual love for chocobos and artistic endeavors would make it far too easy!
