And just because once again I find myself bored (as if I hadn't homework to do). Your favorite section returns...
âšWhich Taylor Swift album gives me vibes "The last of us" charactersâš
(I still can't sleep, kkkk)
1.- Tommy, soy un hombre de rancho, botas y a caballo, Miller (Tommy, I'm a ranch man, boots and horseback, Miller) - Debut
The man was - is the stereotype of an average Texan (Raza from Texas, don't ban me) someone who rides a horse, with his hat, who loves country music, someone who for some reason or another knows how to play the guitar perfectly and make carnitas asadas ( roast beef ) on Sundays after church.
2.- Joel, Finish Raising Me, Sheep Shepherd, Uncertified Country Musician and Singer, Miller - Fearless (and no, no, this is not by order)
Although he could also be a man on horseback and boots, it's also worth remembering that he đđđ half of the fireflies (and not, I'm not talking Abt the species).), a cult of carnivores and how many people will cross their Path or goals... (Actually, I think if they had shown us what it was like before meeting Ellie and blah, blah, blah life would be more creep)
3.- Sarah Miller - Speak now
I meeeeean, even her shirt screams it from the 4 winds... BTW, again, Sarah's headcanon, she would have been a fan of Taylor Swift, I've no proof but no doubt either...
4.- Tess, it wasn't your time yet, finish raising me X2, my biggest mummy issues, Seveepoulos - Red (The years may pass and I'll never write - say's correctly her last name)
*breathe heavy and slow * I don't think there's a need to explain it... (BTW, the explanation that the director - showrunner and voice actor of Joel in the video games gave in the podcast break me like a promise)

Should've Said No - Chapter 4
A/N: sorry this one is so late! last week got busy very quickly, and i just didn't have the time to sit down and write this. i hadn't originally planned on writing this chapter, but the idea hit me in the car while i was driving earlier, so here we are. (hint at next chapter at the very end!)
Pairing: Joel Miller x Fem!Reader
Summary: Listen to 'Should've Said No' by Taylor Swift
Warnings: swearing, assholery
Word Count: 733 words
Chapter 3 / Chapter 5
MINORS DNI
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joelâs head slowly turned back to face you, a fire in his eyes youâd never seen directed at you.
Before he could open his mouth, you started talking again.Â
âCan you believe Joel? Everything we used to have - the songs, the smiles, the flowers - itâs all gone! All because you couldnât keep it in your pants!â
âIs that all?â
âGod, ugh! I just⊠I canât even look at you.â
âLook, Iâd take it back if I could. It was a moment of weakness and we both know that. Hell, what was I supposed to do?!â
âYou shouldâve said no! You shouldâve thought twice, maybe with more than just your dick! I shouldâve been there, right in the back of your mind, and I shouldnât be standing here asking myself why the fuck youâd do this!â
Joel took a step forward, but Tommy stepped in the middle of you two.
âI wouldnât get much closer to her.â He said, voice low.Â
âOh for the love of god, Tommy. You knew, too! Donât stand here and try to play hero when you knew damn well what was going on.â
âAnd Iâm sorry I didnât tell you,â Tommy said, turning to face you, âbut it wasnât my place to say anything. That was between you and Joel, not me. Iâm sorry.â
âNo. No you donât get to be sorry. Joel mightâve done this to me, but you didnât even try to help. You couldâve tried talking to him, you couldâve stopped him, you couldâve just told me! But instead you let this go on, knowing how much it would hurt me.â
Tommyâs eyes landed on the ground in front of your feet, his hands on his hips.
When he looked up again, tears were streaming down your cheeks.Â
âBaby, câmonâŠâ Joel trailed off.Â
You shook your head, taking a step back from the two of them.Â
âDo you honestly expect me to believe that we could ever be the same? After everything you put me through?âÂ
Joel shook his head. âWe donât gotta be the same, we just gotta work through this and come out better on the other side. We can do that, canât we?â
âNo. You shouldâve known that I wouldâve found out eventually. Iâm not stupid, yâknow. Even if you hadnât been so obvious about it, someone wouldâve told me eventually.âÂ
âWas she worth it?â Tommy said, breaking the tense silence that had settled between the three of you.
âExcuse me?â Joel answered.Â
âTommy.â You said sternly. âThis isnât your place, youâve made that pretty clear.â
âMight not be my place, but that doesn't mean I canât ask him what the hell he was thinking.â Tommy turned around to face Joel, stepping into his space.Â
Joel held his eye, bringing his arms up to cross his arms over his chest.Â
âYou wanna do this right now? Right in front of her?âÂ
âI donât think Iâm the one who deserves an apology.â
Joelâs jaw clenched, slowly nodding his head.Â
âI donât think she wants to hear my apology. Do you?â
You thought about it. An apology wouldnât undo what he did, but wouldnât it give you some kind of closure? Or was your closure the end of your relationship?
You shrugged your shoulders. âWell, it certainly wouldnât hurt.â
You gave him a smug smirk, watching him shake his head.Â
âIâm sorry.â He said. âI knew it was wrong and I did it anyway. Happy?â
âNo. But as long as you donât step foot in my house again I will be.â
Tommy nodded his head.Â
âYou can move into a new house tomorrow. Why donât you stay with Carly tonight? Iâm sure sheâd love it.â Tommy gave him a smirk, watching Joelâs hands clenched into fists by his side.
Joel stalked off without another word, heading for the house just a few down from your own.Â
âMotherfucker.â You muttered, and Tommy chuckled.Â
Tommy looked over his shoulder at you, something akin to sympathy in his eyes.Â
âCan I walk you home?â
âAbsolutely not. Youâre not off the hook just because you made a stand against Joel. Itâs gonna take a lot more than that if you ever want to be friends again.â You told him, pushing past him and walking towards your house.Â
As you closed your front door behind you, you couldnât help but ask yourself - why couldnât he just be a better man?

Chapter Four - labyrinth
Previous >> next

Warnings - angst, cursing
Summary - when you find out about a certain football player showing up at your tour you decide to reach out just because of all the dating rumors, but what if thoughs rumors turn into reality?
a/n - okay so since I've never really introduced Joel parents they are introduced here. his mother is named Juliana in this, and his father is named tom (because tommy just feels like he'd be a jr) <3. also, song reader sing is labyrinth because I love labyrinth and Taylor sang it at n1 in Argentina. Â
âOh no, Iâm falling in loveâ
I let out a deep sigh as my fingers pressed against the piano keys. The same piano I sit at weekend after weekend with a large screaming crowd showing all their adoration for me through screams and chants. I pull my in-ears out so I'm able to hear the actual volume of the crowd. "Holy shit," I whisper into the mic in front of me. They're loud, so loud it's impossible to believe that this is my life. Screaming crowds, fans, concerts at venues this big it's incredible. "you guys are so unbelievably awesome you don't even understand," I say as I place my in-ears back into my ears. I can still hear the screams the in-ears just kind of lower the volume. "So, I um, I wrote a new song and I want to see if you guys like it," I say with a smile. They scream as I begin to play the notes on the piano. I take a deep breath before starting the first lyric.
"It only hurts this much right now...was what I was thinking the whole time" It's a little nerve-wracking performing a song that I had just written last night to a whole crowd of people. I didn't even know if they were going to like it, let alone like that I was playing an unknown song rather than a song that they all could sing along to. But despite my anxious thoughts, they scream, scream like this is their favorite song ever. "Breathe in breathe through breathe deep breathe out. I'll be getting over you my whole life," they scream again, astonished by the lyrics, astonished by what these lyrics might mean. I know there's already a video posted somewhere speculating what these lyrics mean and who they're about. That's just how the internet works. But I'm the only person who will ever truly know what this song and its lyrics are about.
"You know how scared I am of elevators, never trust it if it rises fast, it can't last" I hear a loud "I love you y/n!" from a girl sitting in the very front row closest to the stage. I smile as I start the next lyric. "Uh oh, I'm Fallin' in love. Oh no, I'm Fallin' in love again" Screams from the crowd start up because these lyrics just have to be about Joel, right? I know that's what they're thinking and they're right, or at least partially, about him. "Oh, I'm Fallin' in love. I thought the plane was going down. how'd you turn it right around?"
-
"Sooo, why aren't you out with Joel?" Tara asks from her spot at the end of my bed. It was my off weekend. I had one weekend off from performing, and this was it. I let out a sigh. "Um, he invited me to something just didn't feel like it" She rolled her eyes; she knew I was lying somehow. it wasn't anything about 'not feeling it' it was all about the kiss, and the 'good job' afterward, the way my heart dropped right after he said that too. We just needed some space. I needed to be away from him for a little while to try and rid myself of this crush I had on him.
"Is that true?" I let out a sigh as I shook my head and murmured, "I don't want to talk about it, kay?" I wrap my arms around Ollie, who is nestled up beside me, and pull him closer. He lets out a tired "meow" but forgets about the fact I had moved him about 2 seconds later. "c'mon y/n tell me y'know I don't judge" I roll my eyes as she props herself up with her arm. "He kissed me," I whisper. Her brows furrow in a confused curl, which sends me tumbling into an explanation. "He kissed me, and I think I'm in love with him. And the kiss was all for the paparazzi," I whisper as I lay my head back down on my pillow. She sits up quickly, snatching my phone off the bed. "Hey! What the hell are you doing?!" I shout as I quickly sit up. She tumbles off of the bed running away. I let out a groan as I scurried off of the bed to follow after her. She's letting out giggles as her thumbs type away. "Seriously T, what are you doing?!" I shouted as I followed her down the stairs, almost tripping as I came to the bottom.
She stops in the kitchen and pushes herself against the counter. "You're going out with Joel" my eyes widen. I plan on ignoring him for a few weeks before cutting the deal off. "Because you need to figure this shit out 'cause I know it's not fake for him either" She hands me back my phone and I'm quick to open the messaging app.
Joel Miller
y - hey, plans changed. I'm able to go to that thing if I'm still able to.
J.M. - what happened to your sisters?
I rolled my eyes it was obvious that I did not write the text. This was just going to break my heart even more. I don't even know why she'd do this. "Tara...why seriously this is just going to hurt me even more" I whisper, she shakes her head as her arms cross over her chest "he likes you too, y'know have you seen the way he looks at you?" I don't even know how her brain works; he looks at me like how a normal person looks at another human. There was not even a hint of love in his eyes. I stare at her, waiting for her to explain. "Oh my god seriously, are you blind?"
Joel Miller
y- canceled, can you pick me up?
y- please?
J.M. - yeah, sure, be there in 15.
I let out a sigh as I stuff my phone into my pocket. "he's gonna be here in 15 so I better..." I whisper, my voice trickling away as I make eye contact with Tara. I'm not mad at her because I just can't be mad at her, but I'm just so anxious that I seem mad. "Are you mad?" her smile immediately drops. Sometimes Tara just plays too much. She didn't realize how brokenhearted I was after he kissed me, not until now. I turn around and begin to walk away. "Hey y'know, he does like you, I wouldn't lie to you." she chases after me, "I know I just don't trust your judgment," I whisper. It wasn't that Tara liked to lie and make things up, she just embellishes the truth sometimes, especially when I like a guy. She likes to add things to make me feel good. "Just let me get ready...by myself," I whisper.
I throw on a pair of jeans and a tee shirt before putting on some makeup and doing my hair. I was anxious to meet his entire family. That was the main reason I didn't want to go because it just felt like a little too much for fake dating. my heart pounded against my chest as I sat on my couch waiting for him to show up. I was trying to hype myself up in my head, but I had no luck in doing so. I was still a big bundle of nerves who didn't want to be talked to at the moment. My hands shook and my chest was rising and falling so fast it was concerning. And then when I heard three soft knocks on my front door, I wanted to hide.
knock knock knock
I take a deep breath in mutter "I've got this" before standing up and stuffing my phone into my back pocket. "Hey Tara, I'm leaving kay?" when I hear a muffled "okay!" from upstairs I open the front door. I'm met with Joel standing at the door dressed in a pair of dark jeans and a cowboy's tee shirt.
"Hey, darlin', how have ya been? Haven't heard from ya in a while." My heart flutters at the nickname, and at the thought that he cares about how I've been. "I-I've been good, you?" he waves me off. "No, I wanna hear about you. How was your concerts last weekend, huh? Heard they were all sold out," I giggle, flustered that he had even thought about my concerts. "Go-good, I um performed a new song," I say as I smile up at him, a disgustingly lovesick look on my face. But I can't help it, he just makes me feel so good. So free, so loved even if it is fake.
"Need ya to sing that to me, darlin," he says as he grabs my hand. It felt so weird having a man care so much about my music. Every time I see him, he asks about my concerts or how I write my songs. I've been with men who cared I made so much music with Andy, but Joel just feels so different. "y-yeah um I can if you want me to," I whisper as he leads me toward his car. Unlike every other time I had seen him, there wasn't even any paparazzi outside my house. So, him holding my hand is pointless.
-
When we pull up to his house, it's nothing like I imagined it to be. Unlike most other celebrities his age who have large mansions that span many acres, it's a normal 2-story suburban home. It's a stereotypical picket fence home with a large tree in the front yard and faded chalk drawings on the driveway. It was unexpected for a man with so much fame and wealth, but not unexpected for a man like him. Joel was a regular Texan man, a father, a son, and a brother. A man who lived in a simple 2-story, 3-bedroom, 2-bath house. Picket fences, scrapped knees, and handmade drawings stuck up on the fridge. Normalcy, that's what his house felt like. It felt like my childhood. It felt like suburban neighborhoods playing with the neighborhood kids, and ice pops on the front porch. It felt like playing in sprinklers, puddles, and mud. It felt like baseball in the backyard. I felt happy that his kids got that, although their father was such a star. They didn't have to grow up in a large mansion with no kids around like other celebrities' kids got.
As we walk into his house, Joel's hand is splayed across my lower back. There were a lot of people sitting on his couch, some women, some men, but they all felt older than me. "Back...Um, this is my...girlfriend y/n...y/n this is my uncle Walter, aunt Gabriela, my mom Juliana, my dad Tom, and our neighbor Jason" My eyes widen a bit at all the new names and faces I'm taking in. "hi" I squeak with a tiny smile. "She's a superstar, famous singer, right darlin'?" I didn't even have enough time to become flustered at the fact that he had called me his girlfriend because I was met with bunches of hands and people trying to hug me. "I um yeah, yeah I sing a little" I whisper as I try my best to hide myself behind Joel. it's a weird feeling being around all these people who are just so much older than me, I felt like I'd fit in more with his young daughter than with these people. "'Sing a little' c'mon darlin', don't sell yourself short. This girl is performing for sold-out stadiums" he says with a chuckle, "I-I yeah um-" Thankfully, I'm cut off by a scream and the feeling of a little body smashing into my leg.
I look down to see Sarah with her arms wrapped around my torso. "you're here! Daddy said you couldn't come" his family begin quiet 'aww's and 'look how cute's "y-yeah I um I could make it after all," I say with a shy smile. For someone who has stadiums full of people cheering me on, I'm so shy in front of a room of just 5 people. I look up to see a smaller girl standing just a little behind Sarah. She has a paler complexion and straighter brown hair. She's got her arms crossed over her chest; she can't be any older than 5. when she opens her mouth and begins to talk, I can see that her two top teeth are missing. "Who's this?"
"This is daddy's friend I told you about don't be rude Ellie" Sarah whispers as she turns so she's facing her sister. Ellie looks up at me, her head cocking to the side as she takes me in. "I went to your concert" she whispers, "it was too loud" she mutters before walking a bit closer. Her father chuckles behind me. "We-well, I'm sorry bout that," I whisper with a little laugh. "she's the one who has a cat," Sarah whispers and it seems like Ellie's eyes instantly turn into two hearts. "Cat? what's its name?" Ellie asks as she approaches me. "His name is Ollie," I reply as I kneel, so I'm face to face with her. "Can I come see him?" she asks. I nod "Yeah if your daddy lets you" She looks up at her father and puts on the cutest puppy dog eyes. "Can I go see the cat, Daddy?"
"Maybe one day El" I feel a tiny hand wrap around mine before I'm quickly pulled back to my full height and pulled out of the living room "Let's go play y/n!"Â
-
I'm outside in the backyard chasing around all the kids in the backyard while Joel and his father grill burgers on the deck. "ahhhh you can't catch me!" Ellie screams as I grab ahold of her arm and pull her towards me. We both topple to the ground as I begin tickling her. She screams out loud giggles as she tries to squirm away. Once she finally gets away, she stands up and places her hands on both her knees, trying to catch her breath. I sit up noticing Joel has now walked back inside. "Hey, I'm gonna go get a drink alright?!" I shouted, not only to acknowledge Ellie but to the other children who were playing as well. Ellie just nods as she breathes heavily. I push myself up off of the ground and begin to make my way up to the back door.
"May- maybe she could be like their mom. They need a mom, Joel. I know you are all they need, but they need a mother," I hear Joel's mom say as I open the back door slowly. Joel's mom stood at the counter, staring out the window above the sink as she prepared a salad. Joel stood next to her, chopping up the chicken. "I-momma she-we're-" I know what he means we're not real, this is temporary. I clear my throat before saying, "I-um, is there anything I can drink?" Joel's mother begins to swat at her son's arm. "Oh god sweetheart, I am so sorry. Joel, get your girlfriend a drink," she says before shoving him my way. "I-um..." he stutters, as he opens the fridge and grabs a bottle of water. He hands the bottle to me.
"Let's go outside," he whispers before turning back towards his mom. "You got this, Mom?" she nods before shooing him away. His hand slots into mine perfectly as we walk outside. Everything about him made my heart just leap with excitement. It was embarrassing. We stand on the deck watching as the children run around screaming and laughing. "I don't know how they have that much energy," he chuckles as I twist the bottle cap open and take a swig. "Yeah, they wore me out in like 2 seconds," I reply with a smile. "They like you a lot, y'know Ellie and Sarah" I nod, I just wished they didn't. it wouldn't be this hard to break things off if they didn't like me. "Wish they wouldn't get so attached," I whisper. "It's not going to be easy on them when this ends." his face contorts into an expression I can't read. It's a mix of sadness and realization.
"y-yeah but you can still come around. As my friend, we don't have to not talk after this" I nod acting like I would, but I knew I probably wouldn't because it'd be too hard on me. I can't just be his friend, that's the problem. I wouldn't be able to see him with another girl without being heartbroken. "I know"Â
-
Once everyone had left, I sat on the couch with both his children while Frozen was playing on the TV. "You need me to take you home?" Joel asks as he walks into the living room. I've been trying to convince myself it's time to break this off before the kids get too attached. I decided I should just rip the band-aid off before I had time to overthink it and not do it at all. "Um, actually..." I quickly rise to my feet. "Can we talk...alone?" Joel nods, his brows furrowing together in a questioning look.
I follow after him as he leads me to a room far enough away so the kids won't be able to hear us. His arms crossed over his chest as he asks, "What's up?" I take a deep breath in before saying, "We should stop this. I can't do this anymore." his brows furrow into a knot as I see the look in his eyes change from curious to hurt. His head cocks to the side "Wh-why? did you-" I shake my head as I run my hands through my hair "I-I um I can't talk about it." his hands shift so they're placed on his hips. Why did this hurt worse than any breakup I've ever experienced? Why was my heart shattering over a man I was never even in an actual relationship with? "I-I just need to know why. closure y'know," he whispers.
"I-I-" I sigh as my head lowers so I'm not making eye contact with him, "y/n..." my hand squeezes against my opposite arm hard as I try to keep quiet. I can't tell him. I can't, I just can't. "I-I think... I think I'm in love with you and I know you-" lips pressing against mine interrupt my words, instantly alleviating all my fears. Nothing mattered but his lips against mine. He pulls away and places his hand against my cheek. My lips chase after his, which makes him chuckle. "Do you l-" he cuts me off with a simple "mhm," and I nod before our lips meet again.

You remember exactly how you met Joel Miller, it was so simple. He was the one to give your Dad a job at the construction company he led together with his younger brother Tommy. In the beginning you only heard how great of a boss he supposedly was through your Dads stories.Â
Joel and him seemed to have grown into real good friends in the span of mere weeks. You always had wondered what the man from his stories was like in person, up close.Â
When you had to drive to the construction site to bring your Dad his lunch he had forgotten due to being a bit busy that morning. It seemed like your wishes to meet Joel would become reality. You didnât think the big boss would spend his precious time with the actual building process but as you'd figure out in the future, Joel is a hands on kinda guy.Â
You mustâve looked super out of place and quite lost when he approached you. His Texas drawl still echoed through your head hours later. âWell Hello Darlin, lookin for someone?â and if that alone didnât completely blew you away, then certainly his stunning looks. When you turned towards the voice a tall, broad and awfully handsome man looked back at you.
After an awkward beat of silence he stretched his hand out towards you âApologies sweetheart, shouldâa start with the name, huh?â Tilting his head slightly âNameâs Joel, Joel Miller.â At that you let your hand slip onto his outstretched one. His hand was so huge, warm and calloused. Shaking his hand kinda calmed you down Joel Miller was absolutely lovely. âNice to finally meet the famous Joel Miller that my Dad keeps yapping about nonstop.â You giggled while cheekily winking at him.Â
That mustâve been a key moment for everything that was to follow. Youâd see Joel again and again. Whether due to your Dad inviting the single, 44 year old Man over or due to you having to deliver your Dadâs forgotten food.Â
The tension was slowly building higher and higher between you two until one day in Joelâs office you could no longer hold back.Â
Joel stood in his office with you by his side, in front of a pinboard containing all sorts of information about his newest project. He was animatedly explaining processes youâd never understand in a million years. You actually kind of tuned him out and just enjoyed being unbelievably close to him.Â
Then his face kinda looked confused. Oh no he mustâve asked you a question. Shaking your head you say âMhhh sorry, what did you just ask?â Joel tilts his head towards you the way he always does and then states âYa didnât listen to a single word I just said, right Sweetcheeks?âÂ
He always comes up with the most ridiculous nicknames that cause a vicious pull in your lower stomach. You lost count of how many conversations with him ended in drenched panties.Â
âIâŠ.i -of course I was listening to you, why wouldnât I?â You stammered a bit offensively, surely heâd see right through you.Â
âHm kay, so what was I talkin bout, gorgeous?â Heâs teasing at this point.Â
âOk I wasnât listening but that is a lot I donât get anyway so can you really blame me, Miller?â You fired back.Â
âSo, whatcha thinkin bout inside of that pretty little head of yours, instead of listening to me?â You just scoff at him âLetâs not pretend you donât know exactly what I was thinking about Joel.â Pointing one accusing finger at his broad chest. At that motion Joel enveloped your wrist in one of his massive hands, pulling you closer that way. Until you were right in front of him, only a tiny space left between your faces. âWhy donât ya tell me whatcha thinkin about Baby?âÂ
He must know, just by seeing how your eyes keep slipping down to glance at his pillowy lips, what is going through your head. Youâve been dancing around this topic, the tension, the pull towards each other, how forbidden it is for all of this to happen. Joel is your Dads Best friend and heâs twice as old as you are but you know that if you donât kiss him right now youâll go insane. Itâs all you think about, kissing him and then some more.Â
For the first time in years you actually consider letting someone get so close again. Joel would never hurt you like the ones before him did, no, heâs mature and wouldnât play any of those stupid games. You know how kind, considerate, protective and caring he is for the ones he loves. Sure it wonât be easy to explain any of this to your Dad but you canât think about that right now, no, you have to kiss Joel, itâs the last thought before leaning up to push your lips against his.Â
One chaste kiss that erupted into a full blown make out session that only got interrupted by some frantic knocks at Joelâs Office door.Â
From that day on those meetings became a routine, in his office, his truck, his house or sometimes heâd take you out of town for a super secret Date. The thrill of hiding with the possibility of getting caught soon turned into shame for lying to your Dad so much. You wanted to tell him even though it scared you more than anything how he might react.Â
Surprisingly though he didnât completely freak out, of course he was shocked and confused how this combination came to be. More than anything he took the lying personally and made clear that as long as you are happy, so is he. If Joel was the one then so be it, besides your Dad has a lot of respect for Joel and knows you're in good hands.Â
After 3 months of being an official couple Joel asked if youâd be happy to move in with him. You had to think about it for a long time, feeling quite guilty about leaving your Dad behind but he reassured you that he would be fine on his own. He told you that a grown woman like you shouldnât have to live with her boring old man anymore than you already did.Â
So you moved into Joelâs house. And what followed were months filled with wonderful memories. Many barbecues were held, your Dad and Joel always standing at the grill together, each nursing on their beer bottles.Â
Whenever you wanted to try a new recipe your Dad was invited over so you could make sure he still ate enough, the night always ending with you sending him home with a bunch of Tupperware's filled to the brim with deliciously homemade meals.Â
When you wanted to paint the walls in the living room a new shade your Dad came over to help.Â
Making sure his baby girl is happy and content was your Dads number one priority.Â
Then one day you went over to his house to catch up a little bit, just you two having some Dad and Daughter one on one quality time.Â
He was so excited when you told him that Joel and you want to have a baby.Â
He told you what a great mother youâd make because of how wonderful you always have been with kids and how much you always wanted to have kids of your own.Â
To others it mightâve been weird to share such an information with their Dad but you have such a close bond that itâs not weird at all.Â
You were so happy on the drive home cuz you know what great grandpa heâd make.Â
It must've been exactly one week later when you woke up with an indescribable feeling in your chest. As if the world spun a little slower, or the air felt more compromisingâŠwhatever it was you couldnât stop feeling like something had happened.Â
Your intuition only perked up more when your Dad didnât show up for the usual Sundayâs breakfast you recently started doing.Â
After 8 calls that nobody picked up you told Joel you would drive over there and as if he knew that you would need him for whatever was awaiting you there, he came with you.Â
The closer you got to the house the worse you felt. Hands sweaty, heartbeat racing and your stomach felt like turning over at the sight of the house. Usually he would be up by now playing his obnoxiously loud music that youâd hear on the street through the open kitchen window. Instead it was eerily quiet.Â
When Joel had parked the car he told you to wait for him but you couldn't. You just ran up the steps, unlocked the door with your spare key and bolted through the house as if on instinct you skipped up the steps to his bedroom. You flung the door open and there he was. Just laying on his designated side with his glasses still on and one hand on his chest across his heart. He looked like he was just sleeping but deep down you knew he was not. You canât remember a lot, only that you immediately bolted towards the bathroom to empty your stomach out, Joel came up too and tried comforting you through the heaving. Then he tried to get you away from the scene. Joel took care of everything while you just locked up inside of yourself. No tears, no screams, no words, not a singular reaction just nothing. Joel had never seen you look soâŠempty.Â
Later on the authorities would say itâs just natural cause, he simply passed in his sleep, nothing dramatic. Not the kind of closure you would have wanted. It didnât matter how ânormalâ it was, your world stopped spinning entirely. Everyone seemed to go one but you just stopped.Â
Suddenly without any foreshadowing everything was completely flipped on its head. You loved him so much, he was your best friend. He told you all the time how much he loved you even with all your struggles. Youâd never have to prove your worth to him; he'd love you no matter what. In his eyes you were a gift, opposite to your mother that looked at you as a burden. You never felt loved by her. She took away your precious childhood and forced you to grow up quickly. So you could take care of her. Even when you told her how close to the edge you were she always made everything about herself. Out of your parents the one person that actually wanted you, died and with him so did your willingness to continue with the fight against all your inner demons.
You lost yourself after that. For weeks you just slept, barely moving, only getting up to use the toilet and perhaps eat something small and drink a bit. Joel had to shower you, otherwise you wouldnât have done it yourself. Who you were before losing your Dad was gone, as if you died with him.Â
Joel tried everything in his power to make you feel better. One time he wanted to paint with you since you loved to do that, but the moment your eyes caught sight of the little paint pots you ran for the toilet to empty out your stomach. Later on he realized his mistake, you used to paint with your Dad a lot all the way back in your childhood so of course that would not make you feel better. Then he tried playing music for you either your favorite songs from your playlist or on his guitar. Nothing, you just continued to be completely catatonic.Â
Then the funereal came, a day Joel dreaded he was not sure youâd be able to handle it. In the morning he made your hair and applied a bit of makeup, he watched you do your little routine often enough to know what he was doing. Afterwards he dressed you in a simple black dress and equally black flats. Walking only worked since Joel kept you upright.Â
Sitting in the front row bench at the chapel you looked like a ghost. Pale and sunken in. You were asked to do a speech about your Dad but that wouldâve been impossible. So Joel went up to do it instead. You just stared straight ahead at the coffin, not sparing a glance towards Joel.Â
And once everything was over, the people, mostly his colleagues, paid him their respects. When everyone was gone you stayed and just laid your head on the coffin silently sobbing, which was the most emotion Joel had seen in weeks from you. Only he was to witness this vulnerability.Â
Staring at the completed grave was just as daunting. His name is written in cold stone. All thatâs left is this hole in the earth and a stone on top with his name.Â
You walked away without sparring another glance toward the grave.
Then it seemed like you were getting better. You spoke more, ate more and slept less. You even searched out body contact with Joel, though it was just some cuddling and gentle kissing. But he took it as a step in the right direction.Â
You almost fully returned to your old self but Joel could have not predicted how wrong he would be.Â
He shouldâve listened to his gut that told him something was off when you didnât kiss him goodbye before he left for work that morning.Â
You know how hard it will be but thereâs no other choice. You have to get away, you have to leave so he can find someone better, someone who deserves a man like Joel Miller, someone less troubled, someone normal.Â
Those fears you have now, always were inside of you but with your Dad passing they just all came to the surface. Grief killed you, it took everything, itâs as if you're in a room with a beautiful glowing bulb and some dark entity just rips it away. You're left in the dark and not even Joelâs light can make it better.Â
You lost something nothing can replace.Â
All your life you feared what would happen if youâd lose someone like this without any way of getting closure, he died without any warning just poof and gone he was.Â
Your final goodbye was never said.Â
Now you canât remember how he used to be, you only remember him laying in his bed without moving a damn muscle, dead. You were the one to find him and even though it was not some unsettling scene itâs not leaving your head. You try hard to remember how he spoke that sarcastic tone he usually used.Â
You canât remember his face anymore, not even looking at pictures brings him back and at the same time heâs all you think about as if heâs haunting you. You hate him for leaving you so early. Why him? What kind of curse was laid upon you that everything always seems to fall apart when you think itâs finally working out.Â
Itâs as if some higher up can sense that you are happy and content with your life and they donât want to give you that sorta life.Â
The moment your brain processed what had happened you fell into the darkness like a big hole that sucked you in without any way out. Anyone around you could be another loss so what do you do? You leave, you disappear so no one gets hurt by whatever is wrong with you.Â
Looking at yourself hurts because itâs him you see and itâs him you hear in your head heâs everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Sometimes you feel like youâre hallucinating because you swear to see him round the corner, you can almost hear him call out but when you try to look thereâs nothing.Â
Sometimes but much rarer than youâd like to admit youâve visited the grave, sometimes you speak to no one. Sometimes you scream in agony till you almost lose consciousness from the lack of oxygen. Sometimes you just stare.Â
Itâs a sick twist of events considering how often he walked on cemeteries with you as a child. You didnât understand the meaning behind them back then, you only loved to admire the beautiful flower ornaments laying on top of the graves. Your dad always told you how soothing these walks seemed for you.Â
One time he took you and you had so much fun admiring the flowers giggling and smiling. Your dad wanted to tell you off since itâs a place where people grieved especially with a woman sitting nearby crying. He went to apologize to her on your behalf but the woman told him not to. She thought it was an uplifting sight to see little you having so much joy about the flowers, thatâs a story he always kept telling you again and again.Â
All your life those walks soothed your frayed mind. The quiet somber energy is something no other place could compare with. Now itâs the last place youâd wanna be in. The moment you step foot on the property, the panic starts to creep up on you. The closer you get to him the worse it gets.Â
Sometimes the voices in your head scream to just start digging into the earth to get him out of that godforsaken coffin. Look at him, do something to bring him back. If the devil would show up to take you instead of your dad youâd do it. He was a troubled man but he tried so hard. He did not deserve any of this, he shouldâve been here for all the good times yet to come.Â
You imagined him walking you down the aisle, having that stupid first look with him where heâd surely try so hard not to cry but looking at his baby in a wedding dress wouldâve been way too much for him to stay strong. You imagined having your first dance with him.Â
You imagined how excited he wouldâve been to hear that he was going to be a grandpa. In your head you can see him with a little baby that looks just like you. But none of this will ever happen; he's dead.Â
Sometimes itâs hard to even look at Joel. He's connected to him as well; he was his boss and one of his closest friends. Itâs not fair you know but in your head you see Joel and your dad laughing on the porch about some old men shit like always making their awful dad jokes. Or drinking a beer together or looking to fix something around the house.Â
The house, Joelâs house and a place your dad spent a lot of time in. Walking through the hallways is not pleasant anymore, the couch is avoided as best as you can. He used to sit here all the time watching soccer games with Joel. The chair at the dining table he always sat on had to be removed simply seeing it made you sick and eating was already a hefty struggle since he passed.Â
He left a mark anywhere and all of it was getting too much. The pressure in your head becomes more and more unbearable.Â
Even though you tried to push all those negative festering thoughts away the voices could not be shut up no matter what you tried.Â
The worst was when they started to go for Joel, suddenly all you could think of was how heâd die. Joel is only 10 years your dadâs junior. So if he died then why not Joel too.Â
So many horrible scenarios played out inside your mind. Car accident, some freak accident on a construction site, getting attacked by multiple people, torturing him slowly, beating him to death, his head all split open, blood everywhere, or what if he gets shot by some crazy Texan who loves guns. There really was not a scenario left to imagine.Â
Nightmares in the most cruel ways destroying you slowly from the inside out. And that just proved how one thing can make an avalanche of events happen. He was your purpose for most of your life, you only continued to play this game called life because you could not leave him. And now he left you.Â
One time he told you how if it werenât for you heâd be dead or in jail since there would be no reason to give a damn about his life. He was just like you, living for others instead of for himself. No one understood you like him. Somewhere deep inside you know he wouldnât want you to blame yourself so much but that singular fact does nothing compared to all the ever suffocating darkness.Â
Youâd give anything to have him back, feel his warm embrace one more time, hear him say how much he loves you, have him tell you one of his stories, have him tell you itâs going to be alright, take one more look and inhale his signature scent. You have one of his shirts doused in his favorite perfume, itâs what you used to do in all those years you lived far away from him during childhood. Now it does not help like it did back then. What remains of him? Nothing, all of his stuff shoved into a storage unit looked up, buried just like him.Â
You know Joel tried hard to be supportive and not push you too hard. Sometimes you wished he wouldâve just screamed at you, slapped some sense into you and told you to stop being such a disgraceful mess. Thatâs what they wouldâve done.Â
But Joel is not like that, he helped you so much. Putting himself so far behind. So much so that you feel sorry he has to deal with an ill girlfriend, thatâs what you are, a mental wreck.Â
He deserves better treatment than the lackluster one you have given him in the last months. He deserves to be free of your weight dragging him down towards the abyss. Even though he told you in the beginning that he loves you with all the baggage and all the challenges, you cannot let him continue to waste his time.Â
Besides youâre convinced heâd leave you anyway like everyone before one way or another you end up alone. You have no control of the situation but if you leave then you have the control it still hurts but itâs the only option in your head.Â
The decision was made weeks ago, it felt wrong to lie to Joel to keep him thinking everything is fine only to then rip it all away but perhaps itâll make him hate you so itâs easier. If he hates you then he will be able to move on with his life. Burn all you build together down.
And then you knew today would be the day. You couldnât bear to kiss him in the morning; it would only make everything harder. Some time after he left you got up. One last time using the shower you both occasionally used together having foam partyâs, giggling, washing each other and then kissing, touching till it leads to you with your cheek squished against the tile and Joel behind you ferociously hitting that special spot inside of you, till you both reach your high. Now youâre alone staring at that specific spot in the tiles, too much so you turn away.Â
One last time looking at yourself in the mirror above the sink, the mirror Joel and you both looked into while brushing your teeth. You dry your hair, put on fresh clothes, nothing too dramatic, just some simple black leggings and a black cotton shirt.Â
Then you start packing the most important stuff into two big suitcases. Basically only clothes, some hygiene products and a few trinkets that you donât want to leave behind. The rest can be either sold by Joel or thrown away. You donât care, the less holding you back the better.Â
Once the suitcases are packed you haul them down the stairs towards the front door. And then you just wait. For hours you sit at the dining table just staring ahead at the wall opposite where so many photos of Joel and you hang so many memories and youâll destroy it.Â
You should feel bad but these days you barely feel anything, numb is what you think you feel most of the time. Maybe thatâs what your ex meant when he said that you donât own a heart, that youâre a cold blooded mean person. Someone who plays with people until they stop serving their purpose, that's what he said.Â
Itâs almost 8pm, Joel should be home soon. You have practically studied the words youâll say. An Uber already ordered to arrive 15 minutes after he should get home. Not much to talk about the less the easier so you can just walk away.Â
Then you hear it, Joelâs truck driving up the driveway and coming to a halt. How he gets out and slams the door shut behind him. His keys jiggling while he searches for the right one. Unlocking the door and closing it behind him. You donât turn towards him although you know he must be looking at you in astonishment. He can not miss the suitcases and something about the lack of his words tells you he knows exactly what this means.Â
Joel cannot believe what he walked into, he knew something was off but just thought that he was starting to imagine things but here you are sitting like an empty shell of yourself and the packed suitcases can only mean one thing, he tries his hardest not to freak out that wonât make anything better.Â
He starts walking towards you, slowly, once he reaches the threshold of the living room he speaks upÂ
âMoon, Darling whatâs goin on?â He immediately continues âWhatâs with those suitcases, huh?â He canât even hide the nervous quiver in his voice.Â
You turn to finally look at him with empty eyes, get up and walk up to him and then âI have to leave.â And with that you move to walk past him but Joel stops you by reaching for you arm, you immediately pull your arm away hissing âDonât fuckin touch me Joel.âÂ
Heâs stunned by this harsh rejection, his expression full of hurt. Yet he persists by getting close, grabbing your face with both hands, his warm calloused hands that you love- loved so much. He urges âTalk to me baby, what is going on, why would ya need to leave?â Even with everything he tried to be gentle, his voice panicked yet almost just a whisper.Â
He can see in your eyes some sadness creeping in when you mutter âJoel..-â you take one deep inhale â-âŠthis House no longer feels like home.â He can tell even with how hard you try to appear collected that it pains you to say those words. âWhâŠwhat do ya mean? If- if the house is the problem we can just move.â You cut in âNo Joel, no i..I donât love you anymore. Ok? I canât stay here any longer.âÂ
Itâs a punch right into his gut thereâs no way you are serious. âBaby all ya stuff is here you canât just leave.â He tries to find something to buy him time. âI donât care Joel justâŠjust throw it away or sell it or I donât know fuckin burn it. I wonât need it anyway.â Heâs so shocked that you use that to continue your path towards the front door and the waiting suitcases.Â
On top of one suitcase lies a tote bag containing your phone, a jacket and your wallet sits. You swing it over your shoulder, you can hear that Joel has started crying, his huffed breaths are all you can hear.Â
Thatâs when a car starts honking outside, the Uber is here, you go to open the front door twisting the knob you can hear him walking up behind you with heavy steps. You open the door anyway with him at your back and you move the suitcases out onto the porch. Joelâs trying his hardest to contain his sobbing to a minimum but itâs hard he loves you so much, he thinks about the ring in his wardrobe hidden behind stuff youâd never go for and he thinks about the talks you two had of having a baby. If only he knewÂ
His heart is breaking watching you walk away from all of it. You turn to him, one last time, he looks shattered, you've never seen Joel like this, you give him a nod as if to give him the ok to touch you one more time if only to give some kind of closure. He moves closer without hesitation and takes your face in his hands once more and leans his forehead against yours. His frantic breathing collides with your face and then âWhâŠwhy Baby just why?â He sobs A simple question and you decide to give him at least something you reach up to put your hands over his to get him to open his eyes.Â
âJoel Iâm not myself anymore, i-âŠi feel so all over the place and Iâm so scared.â Tears start clouding your sight. âI need to be away from everything. I need to be alone far away to just maybe find some peace. I need to be gone.â And the tears start falling âNo matter where I look I canât stop seeing him and itâs crushing me.â Now you're full on crying. Heâs processing what youâre saying and somewhere in his mind he understands that, still he canât believe this is it.Â
âOk-âŠ.if ya need to go at least promise youâll give some sorta sign ya alright?â He looks desperate âPlease BabyâŠ.please just a text something anything.â You only nod and then pull out of his grasp, take the suitcases and shakinly make your way to the Uber. Joel can only watch and hope youâll stick to your words, hope that youâll find some kind of way back to yourself.Â
The Uber driver gets out as you approach and opens the trunk helping to put the suitcases in there. Then you walk to the right door on the back, open it and hesitate for a moment. Joel holds his breath but you continue to slip into the backseat. Closing the door and off the car goes. Joel doesnât know for how much longer he stood on the porch long after the car was gone. What was there is no more.Â

Tolerate It - Chapter 1
A/N: wow okay so it's been... several months since i've written anything, so please be gentle with me on this one. this is based on taylor swift's song 'tolerate it,' hope you enjoy
Pairing: Joel Miller x ImpliedFem!Reader
Summary: Listen to 'Tolerate It' by Taylor Swift
Warnings: poorly written angst
Word Count: 1.2K
Chapter 2
MINORS DNI
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You watched Joel from across the small living room. Watched the way he kept his eyes on the page, head hung low, even when he knew you were staring at him, silently begging him to look back at you. He seemed to do that more often lately, you thought, act like you werenât in the room.Â
On the rare occasion that youâd wake up in the morning before Joel, youâd take the time to just watch him. You took in his face free of any worry or anger - something you saw a lot of recently. You just laid there, tracing the lines of his face, knowing that he was awake. He didnât respond to your touch anymore. No more catching of your wrist or small smile to let you know he was awake. Heâd only get out of bed when he heard your soft sigh as you left the room.Â
Watching him seemed like the only thing you could do lately. From across the living room, through the window, on opposite sides of the bar - watching as he never once looked back at you. Watching him as he seemed to forget that he had someone to go home to, talking to the girl at the bar that frequented your thoughts.Â
The age gap had never been a problem before. Not when you first met, not when you first got together, and certainly not when youâd arrived in Jackson. But something shifted. Maybe it was the sense of normalcy that Jackson provided - perhaps Joel felt that the age gap was inappropriate in a society like that.Â
And when you overheard Joel express it to Tommy, you just nodded your head. You figured that it was just a phase - that he simply had more experience in life to know what was best for your relationship. He had never seemed that much older to you, but he had certainly seemed wiser.Â
Whenever Joel went on runs, youâd spend the time anxiously waiting for him to get home - pacing in front of the door, badgering Tommy for updates, trying to keep yourself busy with Ellie - anything. These were the moments you most felt like a child, waiting for him to get home, knowing he probably hadnât thought of you once the front door closed. But you waited anyway.Â
And when he came home, you made sure he knew just how much you missed him. Youâd throw yourself into his arms, not paying attention to how they seemed to loosen every time.
âIf I painted a picture of you,â you whispered one night, âIâd make sure to use my best colors. Only the good ones.â Joel had been facing the other way from you, finding it too painful to act like he still loved you as much as he used to, and fell asleep to your admiration.Â
â
The next time Joel came home from a run, he wasnât immediately welcomed at the door like he usually was. He assumed that youâd finally caught on to his well-kept feelings - that you knew you deserved better than a man who didnât love you anymore - only to walk into the kitchen and see a full meal already prepared. Youâd brought out the âfine china,â as you liked to call it - the only plates without any chips or cracks within them.Â
âHi, baby,â you said, walking over to greet him. âThought weâd use the fancy shit tonight.â
He only nodded, toeing off his shoes and leaving the room without a word.Â
Was it all in your head, the way he treated you? It hadnât always been like this, that much you were sure of. You knew it would be best to just ask him, but you couldnât bring yourself to do it. Part of you already knew the answer - that you didnât make him feel like you used to, and that heâd found someone who did.Â
But you were wrong. You had to be wrong.Â
But wasnât your love enough, even if he no longer felt the same? Wasnât that something worth celebrating?
â
âJoelâs back!â Ellie excitedly yelled from the living room. Heâd been out on patrol for nearly 3 weeks at that point, having to go a little farther than usual, and the waiting was killing you.Â
You ran outside right after Ellie, following her into town where Joel was greeting Tommy. She stopped a few feet away when she saw Joel spot you, assuming heâd want to see you first.Â
You threw yourself into his arms, crying into his shoulder, feeling him tense beneath you. When once his arms would wrap tightly around your waist, his hands simply laid on your hips, halfway pushing you away. You pulled back, not meeting his eyes, and stepped to the side.Â
Ellie went next, running up to Joel and wrapping herself around his torso. His arms eagerly wrapped around her shoulders, smiling as she held onto him. He leaned down to press a kiss to the top of her head, and you had to look away.Â
Tommy laid a hand on your shoulder, eyes on Joel as he walked past you.Â
You turned to walk back home, hoping Joel would stop you or pull you back, but you were met with nothing - no calling of your name or hand on your arm, just a lonely walk back to an empty house.
â
The sun had set hours ago, Ellie was sound asleep in bed, and Joel was nowhere to be found. He told you he was going to the bar, and that was that. No room for argument or protest. And youâd stopped trying.Â
You sat upstairs in your bedroom, watching out the window that faced into town. Watched as Joel walked hand in hand with a woman you recognized but couldnât name down the center of the street. Watched as he brought her in for a kiss, arms wrapped around her waist like they once were yours.Â
Then you watched as a kid you hadnât seen before ran up to the two of them, slotting himself between them as he looked up at Joel. He reached down, ruffling his hair as he talked to him, clearly familiar with this routine.Â
Heâd been building this whole world for himself, and where had you been? Had he done it with you watching? From across the room, or through the window, or at the bar?
Where was the man you met just a few years ago, who took you and made you feel loved? Who acknowledged every sharp part of you and held you regardless?
Youâd worshiped him, once. Put up on a pedestal so high you thought heâd never come down - that the fall would hurt too much.Â
And you were right. Where he seemed to survive the drop, it nearly killed you. All you could do now was ask for him to meet your eyes, to notice you, hell, youâd even take a simple âhelloâ when he walked through the door.Â
You thought about it, sometimes, leaving him. What would he do? You could break free of him, leave the remains of your relationship behind, finally ripping the knife heâd put in your back out.Â
You knew you could do it.
But all you did was sit and watch.

summary: what if joel didnât answer tommyâs call from jail? and what if the waitress heâd been defending that night bailed him out instead?
authorâs note: a brief tommy interlude inspired by a line from taylor swiftâs song âslut!â. i hope you enjoy and if you do, please consider reblogging or commenting! đ©”
tags/warnings: explicit sexual content (18+ MDNI), no outbreak au, no use of y/n, reader gets harassed by a drunk bar patron and physically grabbed, bar fights, mentions of alcohol, friends to lovers, tommy smoking cigarettes, i gave tommy an insane amount of game and for what reason, thigh riding, semi-public sex, car sex, vaginal fingering, unprotected p in v, dirty talk, pet names, creampie. if iâve missed any, please let me know!
âYouâve reached Joel Miller. Sorry I canât come to the phone right nowâŠâ
âSon of a bitch,â Tommy hisses. The voicemail tone beeps and he continues with, âJoel, answer your goddamn phone. Iâm at county. And no, it ainât my fault. JustâŠget here when you can, I guess.â
He hangs up the receiver, head low. The officer watching him clears his throat.
âCâmon, Miller. Back to the tank,â he says. Tommy sighs.
âYeah, yeah, Iâm cominâ, Chuck.â
Tommy drags his feet across the dingy linoleum. His jaw aches from a sloppy right hook that managed to hit its mark and his eyes burn thanks to the unforgiving drunk tank fluorescent lights. There are two other people in the cell with him this evening â a man who reeks of vodka slumped in the corner in a wrinkled suit and another man who is staring solemnly at a spot on the floor as he tries not to topple over.Â
Tommy takes a seat on the long concrete bench and stretches his legs out, crossing them at the ankles and folding his hands over his stomach. He might as well get comfortable, thereâs no telling when his brother might check his voicemails. As he sits his thoughts drift to what even landed him here in the first place.
Tommy watches you as you approach the bar, a frown tugging at the corners of your lips. You tap the service machine, entering an order with more force than strictly necessary.
âEverythinâ alright?â He asks. You glance at him.
âYeah, just some group of assholes over by the darts table that think cleavage is an invitation,â you reply. âItâs an invitation for tips. Not hands.â
âYou need me to step in?â He offers. You wave a hand at him but your frown turns into a bright smile.
âNo, no, I can handle it. Thank you, though, Tommy.â You slide another bottle of beer across the bar. âHere you go.â
âThanks, darlinâ,â he says with a wink. âYou let me know if you need savinâ.â
âAlways such a gentleman.âÂ
The bell to the kitchen window rings and you leave to pick up the order. Tommy watches the sway of your hips in your low rise jeans that hug your ass just right, wondering what it would be like to peel them off and get his hands on the soft skin underneath.Â
Heâs watching the fight on the TV above the bar when he hears a glass shatter behind him. He turns toward the sound, thinking that maybe someone had gotten too rowdy and knocked their glass off the table, but instead he sees you struggling against the hold of a man whoâs pulled you onto his lap.
âLet go!â You shout, kicking your legs.
âCome on, sweetheart,â the brute says, arms wrapped around your waist. âJust one lil kiss is all Iâm askinâ for!â
Tommy is out of his seat with red in his vision, hands curled into fists that are begging for a target. Other patrons watch with interest, and heâs not sure if heâs angrier at the man putting his hands on you or the crowded room of people not bothering to help.
âGet your fuckinâ hands off of her,â he barks, the same tone he developed after years of service in the Army.Â
The man releases you, the sudden loss of support causing you to slide to the ground with a shout of surprise. Tommy moves to help you up but the asshole stands, blocking him and shoving his shoulders.
âThis donât involve you, pretty boy,â the man snarls. Behind him, youâve managed to get up and you hurry away from the scene. âMind your fuckinâ business.â
âIt became my fuckinâ business as soon as she said no and you didnât listen,â Tommy says, straightening his shoulders. The man laughs and looks back at his friends.
âThis fuckinâ guy,â he slurs. âDefendinâ some whore waitress.â
Throw the first punch, Tommy thinks. Come on, asshole.
The man focuses his attention back on Tommy, stepping close enough that theyâre toe-to-toe now. Heâs maybe an inch taller and he tilts his chin to stretch that inch as far as it will go and heâs breathing through his nose like a bull about to be released from its holding.
âGet out of my fuckinâ face,â Tommy says. The man laughs, the stench of beer pouring from him. A fist cracks across Tommyâs jaw and he stumbles backwards from the force of it.
Showtime, he thinks.
âMiller!â An officer calls out, yanking Tommy from his thoughts. He looks up and the officer jerks his head towards the door. âYou made bond. Come get your stuff.â
Tommy stands, relief flooding him. Joel must have finally check his voicemail. At least he wonât have to spend the whole night in here.Â
ââBout time you showed up,â he says as he enters the lobby while he tries to thread his belt through his jeans at the same time.Â
âSorry, had to finish my shift,â you reply. His head snaps up in surprise, task forgotten as you wave your fingers at him.
âWhatâre you doinâ here?â He asks.Â
âYou said your brother was busy tonight, so I was worried you might not have someone to bail you out,â you tell him with a shrug. âBesides, youâre in here because of me. Itâs the least I could do.â
Tommy laughs. âAinât your fault, sweetheart.â
âThank you, by the way. Guess I did need saving, after all.â
âYou couldâa handled him fine. I just sped up the process.â
Heâs staring at you now, gaze caught with yours as you give him a soft smile. Tommy spots the time on the clock hanging on the wall above your head.
2:32 a.m.
âYou wanna get breakfast?âÂ
The diner Tommy directs you to boasts a neon sign that advertises twenty-four hour breakfast. The booths have cracked red vinyl and the menus are faded from use but you can read it well enough to order French toast while he orders chocolate chip pancakes with a side of hash browns. He builds pyramids out of the coffee creamer cups while you talk and talk and talk. You laugh as he drowns his food in syrup and you steal a bite of them despite giving him a hard time about it.Â
Afterwards, as you walk together to your car, your palms are a little clammy and your heart pounds the slightest bit faster. Youâve had the biggest crush on Tommy since the first time he slid onto a bar stool at your shitty bar and ordered a Miller Lite (âItâs funny âcause itâs my last name!â). Heâs always polite, never leaves a mess, and makes you laugh even when youâre having a tough night.Â
"You alright? You got quiet," Tommy says. You swallow nervously.
"Yeah, I'm totally fine," you reply. He looks like he doesn't want to believe you but he doesn't press for more.
"You mind if I have a smoke before we go?"
"That's fine."
He digs a crumpled box of Camels from his back pocket, sliding a cigarette out and bringing it to his lips. He pats his thighs and then his chest in search of his lighter, finding it in the pocket of his button up shirt. Metal Zippo lighter finally in hand, he flicks it open and brings it closer to his face, flickering flame casting an orange glow over his features.
He breathes in as the cigarette catches the flame and closes the lighter with a quick snap, exhaling the smoke with the cigarette still held between his lips. Lighter tucked away, he inhales again and pinches the filter of the cigarette between two fingers to pull it away and exhale the smoke into the air.
âYou gotta quit lookinâ at me like that,â he says. âYou keep watchinâ my mouth and it makes me want to do somethinâ real stupid.â
You lean against your car and he steps close. He smells like a mix of smoke and syrup and sweat, three things that shouldnât have your pulse pounding and yet combined with the way Tommyâs dark eyes focus on you and the dimple in his cheek as he smirks, you donât stand a chance.
âMore stupid than getting in a bar fight?â You finally ask.
âThat wasnât stupid. Got me here with you, didnât it?â He inhales another lungful of smoke and tips his head back to exhale. âYou gonna let me kiss you?â
You smile at him, lifting your hands to smooth your palms over his chest. His cheeks turn a faint shade of pink that trails down his neck, disappearing beneath the white tank top he wore beneath an unbuttoned pink shirt.Â
âThatâs your big stupid idea? Just kissing me?âÂ
Another drag from his cigarette, another smirk, a hand on your hip as he shuffles closer. âMm, to start.â He brings his lips close to your ear, warm breath tickling your skin as he murmurs, âYou didnât answer the question.â
âWhat question?â
âYouââ a kiss beneath your ear ââgonnaââ another to your jaw ââlet meââ a third to your cheekbone ââkiss you?â
âYeah, Tommy. You can kiss me,â you whisper. He wastes no time, greedy lips pressed to yours as soon as he gets the green light. His tongue explores your mouth and tangles with yours, leaving behind the taste of pancakes and smoke.Â
A thigh presses between your legs, a new pressure and friction that you explore with a tentative roll of your hips. That hand on your waist urges your movements â forward and back at a slow and steady pace. He pulls back from your kiss and brings the cigarette to his lips.
âSo goddamn pretty,â he whispers, smoke spilling from his mouth and disappearing into the night air. âPretty as a fuckinâ picture.â
He flicks the butt of his cigarette to the ground and then heâs on you with renewed purpose, kissing you deeply with a broad palm to your cheek, tilting your face to the best angle to devour you. When heâs gotten his fill of your mouth, his hungry lips slide across your jaw and down your neck, teeth digging in roughly against your pounding pulse and making you gasp.
âHush, sugar,â he says, a reprimand with little heat as he smiles against your skin. That hand on your waist has found the fly of your jeans, deft fingers working the button open and the zipper down. âYou want a little more attention?â
âMhm,â you reply, nodding your head quickly. He slips his hand beneath the elastic of your panties, quickly swirling over your needy clit. He lets out a deep groan, one that has you clenching on nothing and desperate for more.
âGod, youâre fuckinâ soaked,â he says. He presses two thick fingers to your tight entrance. âYou can take it, right?â
He doesnât wait for an answer before pressing them inside, the tight pressure making you rise up on your toes in surprise. Heâs got a limited range of movement thanks to your jeans but he still manages a sloppy grind of his palm to your clit and curl of his fingers that has you squirming as your release builds inside of you.
âYou want more, baby?â Tommy asks, dark eyes a little wild and desperate. âYou feel so good in my fingers, I just know youâd take my cock so fuckinâ good.â
âTommy,â you pant, your hands clutching at his shoulders. âOh, fuck, Iâm gonna cum.â
He yanks his hand from your jeans and before you can complain, heâs opening the back passenger door and urging you into the back seat of your sedan.
âPants off,â he demands as you shuffle across the seats. He sits beside you and starts to unbuckle his belt. âIf youâre gonna cum, itâs gonna be on my cock.â
His words have you scrambling to remove your boots and pants, graceless movements in the cramped space. Your elbow connects with his ribs and he hisses as you giggle, wiggling your pants and underwear off. Itâs dark in the car, dim light from the parking lot filtering in the windows enough for you to catch the smile on Tommyâs face.
âCâmere,â he drawls, patting his thighs. Heâs freed his cock from his jeans and you admire the thick length of him for a brief moment before obeying, straddling his lap. You drag your wet pussy over him, twin groans filling the still air of the car as you do. His hands flex against your thighs and his head tips back against the seat. âFuck, you feel so damn good.â
Itâs not the most comfortable encounter youâve ever had, with your neck bent so that you donât hit your head and your skin already slick with sweat from the cramped space and the Texas heat but, heaven help you, the look on Tommyâs face makes it worth it. You reach between your bodies and wrap your hand around him, holding him still as you position him at your entrance.Â
âOh, fuck,â you hiss as you lower yourself, your eager cunt adjusting to him with only the slightest pinch of pain that quickly transforms into a delicious fullness. âOh my god,â you whimper.
âYou can just call me Tommy,â he teases, but his voice is just as wrecked as yours. You rise up slightly on your knees and drop down sharply, a satisfied smile on your face when his laughter morphs into a choked curse and his hands grip your hips tightly.
His fingers find the hem of your shirt and lift it up only enough to expose your bra, the cups of which he roughly pulls down until heâs able to get his hands on your breasts, groping you roughly. You moan as his lips wrap around one pert nipple, tongue swirling over the sensitive flesh and light dragging his teeth across it.
The windows grow foggy and your skin starts to get slick with sweat the longer you work yourself over his cock. Itâs messy and dirty and uncomfortable, your thighs burn and your neck aches, but Tommyâs making it his goal to get his lips on any skin he can reach, whispered praises between each bite and kiss that has your head growing fuzzy and your core getting tight.
âFeel so good, darlinâ,â he groans. âGoddamn, I need you to cum, baby. You were so close before, werenât ya? I can get you there again, right?â
You nod, mouth open in a silent moan. He presses his thumb to your bottom lip, slipping it experimentally over your teeth until it presses against your tongue. You suck on the digit, reveling in the way his eyes roll back and he groans, hips flexing to meet yours and making you cry out.
ââM so close, Tommy,â you whisper when he withdraws his thumb from your mouth.Â
âYeah, I can feel it, sweetheart,â he growls. When you lift up he holds your hips steady, suspended above his lap. He pounds into you from below, rough slaps of his hips that make you press a hand to the ceiling of the car to steady yourself against the onslaught of sensation. âCome on, baby, come on,â he says through gritted teeth.
Itâs the dark look in his eye and the flex of his jaw, the shimmer of sweat on his light tan skin and the feel of his fingers digging bruises into your hips, the lewd noises and the desperate moans against each others mouths that all combine to shove you over an edge youâd been balancing on since, if youâre being honest, he rushed over to help you back at the bar. You bite into his lip as your orgasm crashes over you, his sloppy thrusts and the heat blooming inside of you telling you he reached his peak as well.
You slump forward, panting heavily against Tommyâs neck. His head tips back against the seat, chest heaving with his own labored breaths. His fingers draw patterns against your sweaty back.
âI feel gross,â you groan. Tommy laughs.
âSure know how to make a guy feel good about himself, donât ya?â He teases.Â
âI just meant Iâm all sticky.â
âMm, donât worry. You can take a shower at my place.â
You pull back to look him in the eye. Heâs sporting a satisfied grin as you raise your eyebrows at him. âOh yeah? You taking me home, Miller?â
âSure am.â His confident look falters the slightest bit. âI mean, if you want.â
You kiss him, slow and sweet.Â
âYeah. I want that.â
The loud ringing of a phone breaks through Tommyâs slumber. He reaches out a hand from beneath the sheets and blindly finds the offensive device amongst the clutter on his nightstand.
âWhat,â he groans when heâs managed to flip it open.
âTommy! What the hell, man,â Joel snaps. âI just got your voicemail. Left my phone upstairs and fell asleep on the couch. Are you alright?â
âWhat?â Tommy asks again. Joel sighs.
âYou called from county and said youâd gotten arrested. I called âem this morning and they said you got bailed out. One of your friends come by or somethinâ?â
Tommy glances over to you, where your bare shoulder peeks out from the sheets, the fabric draped across your curves. He smiles.
âYeah, a real good friend. Guardian angel, even,â he says.Â
Another sigh from Joel, this time one of relief. âWell, good. Quit gettinâ into trouble after ten, I canât stay up that late anymore.â
âSure,â Tommy agrees. You turn over, sleepy eyes blinking up at him. âI gotta go.â
He hangs up without waiting for a goodbye. You scooch closer and lay your head on his chest.
âA guardian angel, huh?â You ask. He kisses the top of your head.
âYep. Saved my ass from the wrong place at the right time.â

Paper Rings - A Joel Miller Drabble
Rating: Explicit. 18+ (Minors DNI) Pairing: Jackson Joel Miller x Female Reader Word Count: 750 Summary: Signs of you are all over Joel's bedroom in Jackson. Warnings: Smut, slight somnophilia, drinking.
Masterlist
Thank you to @beskarandblasters for the amazing Taylor Swift Drabble Challenge, I picked Lover because I've been listening to a lot more of it as the weather begins to get warmer. "Paper Rings" is definitely not my favorite Taylor song, but oh my god I LOVED writing this about Joel, it fits perfectly for him.
***
The story of your romance with Joel Miller could be told with just one look around his bedroom.Â
The picture frame on his dresser with a picture that you painted of the two of you the night you met.
It was quite a meeting, a quick slip on the ice as you stepped off the curb on your way to the Tipsy Bison to celebrate Tommyâs birthday, Joel jumping towards you to catch you. His hand grabbing your blue jacketâs shoulder before you fell into the large pool of water leftover from the melting snow. You both making your way to the Bison together, his handsome face taking your breath away once you saw him in the light of the high moon. You became fast friends, urged on by Tommy and Mariaâs matchmaking. Your friendship accidentally turning into something more after a night of drinking and dancing together in Joelâs kitchen. The two of you sharing your first kiss as you slowly swayed along to a Neil Young record. The kiss turning heated, turning into Joel taking you from behind as you gripped his kitchen countertop. Â
The books youâve read stacked up on the table beside your side of the bed. Your favorite chapters marked with the bookmarks you made.
Heâd always try to bring you home a book to make up for how early heâd have to leave for patrol on Monday mornings, the day always being more sad and dreary due to his absence. Heâd always succeed at not waking you up until heâd kiss you goodbye. He found it hard to control himself when heâd hear you let out a small sleep drunk moan as his lips touched yours. Some mornings he could manage it and walk away, and others heâd be late to the stables, leaving you satiated and smiling after gently fucking you in the light of dawn.Â
The comforter rumpled on the floor in the corner, left there from when Joel threw it off the bed last night before he made love to you.
Your glass is still sitting on the coffee table half full of wine, the thought of finishing it out of your mind once Joel began kissing your neck. You were teasing each other all day, playing a game of cat and mouse. Biding your time until both of you couldnât take it, Joel stalking behind you up the steps as he threw his shirt off and started unbuttoning his jeans.Â
The t-shirt of Joelâs you wear to bed with the large blue paint stain on it from the time you helped him paint Tommyâs house.Â
He loves to see you in it, your body filling it out in places he loves to touch. He loves how you smell of him whenever you wear it, how it sits against your smooth skin. He loves it when you ride him while wearing it, seeing his clothes on his girl as you grind your hips.
The sheets on the bed always on your side, Joel sleeps warm, he never needs a blanket.
You like to watch him sleep, his face more at peace, his breathing relaxed and slow. A small grunt usually escaping his mouth when he turns away from you, followed by a hum of contentment when you wrap your arm around him. Sometimes youâll wake up before him just to watch the rise and fall of his chest quicken as you take his cock into your mouth. Joel always waking up thinking he was having a dirty dream until he looks down and meets your eyes staring up at him. A small half smile as he realizes what comes next, his tired eyes growing larger with lust.Â
The jewelry hung from the hooks surrounding the mirror above his dresser.Â
The mirror that Joel loves to watch himself kiss you in. Sometimes because you had a long night. Sometimes because itâs the best way he knows to tell you itâs gonna be alright. Sometimes because he waited his whole life for you. He loves to stand behind you and watch his reflection touch you, he loves watching you gasp as he sticks his hand down your pants.Â
The paper rings on each of your nightstands.Â
Joel secretly teaching himself how to fold them as a way to surprise you until he could find a ring that would fit you. He just couldnât wait to make you his wife.

âMy thoughts will echo your name, until I see you again. These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon. I was enchanted to meet you. Please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you. Please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you.â
- Taylor Swift âEnchantedâ
The spring breeze of April rustles through Austin as green leaves blow gently down the street, light streaks of sunlight glistening in the open shop as Joel finishes the final touches on a lilac handmade wooden side table. Tiny, intricate white flowers heâd hand painted cover the lilac material. Joel had no idea who he was making it for, he only saw the order request in the computer on his list of custom orders. Tommy mustâve talked to that particular customer when Joel was in the back crafting something.
As Joel finishes the final touches on polishing the little table, he yells for Tommy to come over. âHey, Tommy. Whoâs this order for? I just got finished, guess I can go ahead and deliver it today since we arenât too busy,â he says as he stands up with a huff, placing a hand on his lower back as he gets up from the rough ground.
âAhh, that one is for this sweet girl that came in a couple weeks ago. Kinda shy, quiet, but sweet as pie. Pretty thing, too. She sure talked a lot about nature,â Tommy laughs as he grabs the thick white notebook and gets your contact information out, handing Joel the address and name of the customer who had bought it.
Joel looks at it carefully as his eyes scan the address. âShe lives out in the middle of nowhere,â Joel says as his eyebrows knit together.
âYeah, all the way in Cedar Lake. Not too far, but thatâs definitely not in the city. Itâs only twenty minutes from here though. So, you want me to take it? I donât mind,â Tommy replies as he leans to grab the notebook. Joel brings it out of his reach and clutches it to his chest.
âNah, Iâm the one that made it so Iâll be the one delivering it.â
âSuit yourself,â Tommy scoffs as he holds his hands up. âTell her I said hello, will ya?â
âSure,â Joel says as he grabs the paper with your name and address on it and shoves it down in the denim pocket of his dark jeans. He rolls his blue flannel sleeves up to his elbows and exposes tanned skin as he grabs up the table and loads it in the back of his white Chevy truck.
Once heâs inside and has the engine revved up, he pulls away from Millerâs Woodshop Creations and heads down the street, toward the direction of a long, gravel road that will take him to your place.
Cedar and oak trees fill the last half of the drive while deer scurry off from grazing in the grass as soon as they see Joelâs truck. The houses get thinner in this area, only one or two spread out with acres of land behind them. Joel keeps driving through the thick of the green, eyes trained on the narrow road ahead of him.
âNow who lives all the way out here?â Joel asks himself as his GPS stops him right as he pulls up to a single house thatâs surrounded entirely by the woods.
He puts his truck into park and turns off the engine, grabbing his keys and shoving them in his pocket. Just as he steps outside into the grass, a wild rabbit runs off into the opposite direction of him and a black raven caws and flies off into a tall cedar tree.
Whoever lives here must like animals a lot.
Joel carefully retrieves the furniture from the bed of his truck and grunts his way to the front door, making his way up the few wooden steps that lead him to the front door. When he sets the side table on the wooden porch, he takes in the outside of the house.
The house is painted a deep purple color with yellow wooden rails outlining the edge of the porch. All types of different floral plants of names he doesnât know lines each side of the cobbled stone path that leads to the front of the house. Colorful stained glass windows are sprawled on the top windows as the bottom windows sit wide open for the warm breeze to seep into. Itâs unique, a house like heâs never quite seen before. Now he needs to know who lives way out here in the middle of nowhere in a little purple house thatâs stacked with plants.
He knocks on the sturdy purple door three times and stands back while he shoves his hands into the pockets of his jeans, fidgeting with his fingers as he patiently waits. Before long, he hears the creak of the door opening and looks up to say his greeting.
âHi, Iâm from Millerâs Woodshop Creations and I came toâŠâ
He stops when he takes in the sights of you as you open the door wide, stepping out onto the porch in a lilac colored sundress that goes down to the middle of your thighs, exposing long legs as the bodice hugs your hips perfectly. He gasps at the beautiful shades of your eyes. Heâs never seen such beautiful eyes before, a color that reminds him of warm summer days and clover covered fields. Your hair is in soft curls, held back by a pink ribbon as you flash him a smile that can knock him down to his knees. He thinks youâre absolutely breathtaking. The most gorgeous thing heâs ever laid eyes on.
âOh! My little table I ordered. I had no idea it was finished! Let me see it,â you say excitedly as he steps out of the way and lets you bend over to analyze the table.
You rake your fingers over the smooth, polished wood and carefully trace the edges of the hand painted white flowers that cover the surface of the table. Itâs so beautiful, exactly what you were looking for when you placed the order. You were afraid they wouldnât see the vision you were going for, but this was exactly what you wanted. It was perfect.
âThis is incredible! Exactly what I pictured it to be. Who made this?â you ask incredibly as you hover over the top of the smooth wood.
âI did,â he says nervously behind you.
You drop your hands and push yourself off the porch, turning to take in the man who made this himself. âYou made this?â you ask quietly.
âMhm. Just finished it up today,â he answers, his eyes locking on yours as he nods his head up and down slowly.
âOh, well itâs exactly what I wanted! Itâs gorgeous, thank you.â
âNo problem, sweetheart,â he says with a Southern accent that stops you in your tracks.
Sweetheart. You like the sound of that a lot.
âAnd you are?â you ask with a raised eyebrow, curiosity swirling in your eyes at the handsome gentleman who stands in front of you.
âOh, sorry. My nameâs Joel. Joel Miller.â He holds his arm out, waiting for you to take his hand patiently, his eyes flicking over yours carefully. You slowly place your hand in his and shake.
You almost gasp when you feel his calloused fingers close over yours. He feels like magic, like shooting sparks are flying in his soft brown eyes as he holds your hand in his. Youâve never had this reaction shaking a manâs hand before. This feels⊠different. The magic dies as soon as he drops his hand, and you almost reach for his hand again just to feel that buzzing sensation through your body that was there when his hand was in yours.
âMiller. Is Tommy Miller your brother?â you ask with a curious smile.
âYes, maâam. He helps me run the shop.â
âOh, I see. Well, Joel, Iâm glad it was you that brought this by for me today,â you smile gently, fluttering your long eyelashes up at him as he blushes and pushes a hand through his tousled curls nervously. You think heâs absolutely beautiful.
âIt was no trouble. And your name? I didnât catch your name, darlinâ.â
Darlinâ. There he goes again with the little nicknames. You wish heâd never stop. He could just keep going. He could call you anything he wanted to, and youâd let him. As long as he came back here again.
You tell him your name, and he repeats it like honey dripping off the tip of his tongue. It sounds beautiful the way he says it. Like sweet tea that simmers in your soul. It sounds all lilty and dreamy, and you decide then that you do want to see him again.
âThatâs a pretty name,â he says softly as his lips curl up into a dreamy smile that almost takes your breath away.
âOh, uh - thank you,â you smile in return.
You take in his full features now. See the way his eyes shine like caramel in the warm sun that glazes over them, see the dark brown flecks mix with warmer colors to make the prettiest soft brown eyes youâve ever seen in your life. His skin is tan like gold, his broad shoulders filling out the blue button-up flannel shirt that presses firmly to his strong chest. His sleeves are rolled up to his elbows as they expose thick veins that cascade down his arms to end in big, thick hands. Hands youâd like to hold on more than one occasion.
And his smile. God, his smile sends your insides spiraling. Heâs so fucking beautiful, and you hope heâll stay for tea. Maybe, just maybe heâll want to try your famous hibiscus herbal tea.
Please, stay.
âHere, let me put this inside for you. Itâs a little heavy, so donât want you to try to lift it,â he says adamantly as he bends over and scoops up the little side table in his arms.
You open the door wide for him and watch him walk through the entrance as you point to your cream colored couch that sits up against the soft pastel purple colored walls. âJust right next to the couch will be fine, thank you,â you say as you watch his biceps cling to his flannel shirt, watching the way his back muscles pull against his shirt to expose thick muscles that youâd kill to run your fingers down.
Heâs so gorgeous.
When he sets down the table on the dark wooden floor, he takes in your little living space. He examines your white shelf that holds purple orchids, different colored carnations, and potted hanging plants whose vines spill over the edges fluidly.
Next, he notices the windowsill that has amethyst and pink quartz crystals lined against the edge as a stack of flower tarot cards lay against the crystals. He takes in the bright colors of your kitchen as the sunlight beams through the open windows as robins chirp their melodious songs outside the window. Lavender and white tulips encase the edges of the light colored wooden countertop as it overflows with various herbs that stack neatly together.
The air smells dewy-fresh as the aroma of flowers and tea fill the air. You watch Joel take in his surroundings carefully and see his lips part open just slightly as he spins in a slow circle. You lean against the wooden countertop and rest your chin in the palm of your hand as you watch him dreamily. Heâs just so handsome, so intriguing, so curious.
As he turns back your direction, you straighten up and try to act normal, but itâs so hard around him. So very hard. âYou uh, you sure like flowers donât ya?â he asks as you blush from the question.
âIs that a bad thing?â you ask nervously as he comes over and leans against the opposite side of the counter, staring up into your eyes as he gently smiles.
âNo, sânot a bad thing. Just I havenât seen a house quite like yours before. Itâs very⊠unique what youâve done to the place,â he says as his eyes skate across your lit up kitchen.
âWell, Iâm a unique person,â you giggle out, letting the single pearl necklace bounce along your tan chest.
âI can see that,â he smiles as his eyes skate down your lilac sundress, gulping when you see him rake his eyes over your full breasts and down your curvy hips and smooth thighs. You suck in a breath when his warm eyes land back on yours as you watch the sunlight trickle warm golden colors against his gentle brown eyes.
Heâs so fucking beautiful.
âPurple your favorite color?â he asks as he examines the soft colored walls in your kitchen.
âHow could you tell?â you ask as a soft giggle echoes around the small living space.
âIâm good at observations,â he says with a smirk that pulls at the corners of his mouth.
Oh, this one is gonna be a tease. You just know it.
âYou live out here alone?â he asks as he walks around the counter, dragging his finger along the wooden edges as he stares at the purple orchids that lay across your wide open kitchen window.
âYeah, itâs just me and my flowers. Also, my cat, Oliver. Heâs probably outside hunting mice or something,â you laugh.
âAhh. I see.â
You watch the way he furrows his eyebrows at the flowers, looking at them as if heâs trying to figure out what they are. Somehow you think he doesnât know a lot about plants. Maybe you could teach him.
âOrchids,â you say as you walk up next to him, laying your hand on the wooden counter as you place your eyes on the vibrant deep purple colors of the flowers.
âHuh?â he asks as turns around and faces you.
âThese are orchids.â You nod your head to the lush flowers, and an understanding grunt comes from deep within his chest.
âOh, I see. Theyâre pretty,â he says as he drops his hand back to the counter. His pinky finger drags along the side of yours, and you feel hot fire run through your fingertips.
You drop your hand and watch him take a step back, eyes melding into yours as the sunlight bursts through his brown irises. You canât help but to fall for him right then. This man was going to make you pull out the tarot cards, see if love was in your near future. With him.
He shifts his weight and leans into the edge of the counter, contemplating his next actions. âWell, I guess I shouldnât take up anymore of your time. It was nice to meet you,â he says as he starts to walk toward the front door.
You freeze, almost choke up as the words run dry in your throat. âWait!â It comes off desperate, loud, and you think you just ruined your chances with him. He turns back around with his eyebrows raised, maybe even alarmed that you almost screamed at him.
âTea? Do you like tea?â you ask, desperate for him to stay a little longer. You want him, need him to stay just a few more minutes. You want to get to know this man, maybe want to give him a tarot reading, if he wanted one.
âTea? âCourse I do. Why do you ask?â He knits his eyebrows together as if heâs concentrating a little too hard on you, and you gulp at the sight of those gorgeous flecks of brown staring back at you.
âWill you stay for tea? I just picked some fresh herbs from the garden, and itâs the least I can do for having you deliver my furniture for me. Please,â you say as you nod to your cream colored couch, asking him to sit while you prepare the tea.
He flicks his eyes over the smooth material of the couch and back at you as his eyes blaze into yours. âSure, darlinâ. Iâd love to,â he says as he moves to the couch and sits down gently as his body presses against the soft material. You have to avert your eyes from his large thighs that pull against the dark material of his jeans.
Heâs so fucking broad and muscular. He was going to get you into trouble if you were already practically drooling at his Southern charm and good looks.
You smile and get to work chopping up lavender and rosemary herbs as you mix them together with elderberries and hibiscus flowers while you pour almond milk and a dash of water together. Everyone loves your herbal teas, you just hoped Joel would, too.
âSo, is this one of your specialities or somethinâ? You sure do have a lot of herbs and teacups around,â he says as he assesses your china cabinet full of floral tea cups and fine china that youâve been collecting for years. Call it a hobby or an addiction, but youâve been making tea for as long as you can remember. Thatâs why you have your own tea shop just a few miles down the road. A business youâve loved every since you got to open your little shop a few years ago.
âSomething like that,â you giggle as you continue mixing the various ingredients together in a large glass pitcher. âI actually own my own little tea shop a few miles down the road. Itâs called Starlightâs Corner.â
âStarlightâs Corner, huh? Strange, Iâve never heard of it. Where is it located?â he asks as he leans his elbows against his knees and places his hands under his chin, eyes focused on you. You try not to blush as he watches you mix together the tea, but you fail to no avail.
âItâs just off Fourth Street, right next to a little boutique. You canât miss it.â
âWait, thatâs not too far from my shop. I guess Iâll have to come check it out sometime,â he says with a smile pulling at the corners of his lips. You canât help but smile back at him.
âYeah, guess you should.â
After mixing the ingredients together and throwing a dash of sugar in there, you pour two glasses of the floral sweet smelling tea and walk over to him slowly. You hand him a glass and when he takes it your fingers brush up against his, causing you to jolt your hand back as purple liquid splashes over the side of the cup and lands on top of Joelâs denim covered thigh.
You gasp and set your own drink down on the glass coffee table as you run to grab a towel from the kitchen. âOh my god, Iâm so sorry! I didnât mean to do that, really Iâm so sorry,â you apologize hurriedly as you go back over and hand him the dark hand towel, your face beat red with embarrassment as you say sorry another five times.
âDarlinâ, relax. Itâs alright. Itâs just a little spill. Nothing I canât handle,â he says as he hushes you, circling his hand over your wrist as all worries seem to vanish at his soft touch.
Your breathing calms as you relax your shoulders, his fingers still pressed firmly around your wrist as you feel every single callous that covers his thick fingers. Itâs soothing, relaxing, mind numbing as he stares up at you with those warm brown eyes of his, his chest rising and falling calmly as his other hand presses the towel to his damp thigh. And suddenly itâs like youâre in the middle of your lush garden outside, smelling the sweet scents of wildflowers and fresh air as you breathe in his mahogany scent. He smells like fresh wood and pine trees, a scent you could get completely lost in, drown in.
He suddenly drops his fingers from your skin, and itâs like you wake up from a trance. You want him to touch you again, you want to feel the flames that ignite your skin every time he traces his calloused fingers along your soft, silky skin. You want to know what he tastes like, what he sounds like if your lips ever pressed up against his soft, plush lips.
You shake your head out of your lovesick daze and grab your glass of tea as you go around to the other side of the couch and sit down next to him, just inches from your thigh meeting his. You watch him towel off the damp spot on his thigh, rubbing the material harshly as he calls it good and sits the now damp towel on the coffee table.
âJoel, again, Iâm so sorry. Let meâŠâ
He holds his large hand out and silences you as your voice stops cold. âSweetheart, ya gotta stop aplogizinâ. Really, itâs fine,â he presses as he goes to grab the half filled glass of tea. He grips it in his large hand and brings it close to his plush lips.
âI hope you like sweet tea,â you say before he takes a sip, hopeful that he wonât hate it.
âIf itâs as sweet as you, Iâm sure Iâll love it,â he smiles.
Your cheeks flush crimson as you take in the compliment and watch him bring the rim of his glass up to his lips, throwing back his head as you watch the hibiscus tea run slowly down his throat. You watch the way the liquid pulls at his lips, watch the way the veins in his neck bulge and flex as he drinks it down. You canât help but lick your parched lips as you watch him gulp the liquid down. You wonder what itâd feel like to hang on his lips like that, wonder how itâd taste to run your tongue along his soft, inviting lips.
He tilts his head back up and sets the now almost empty glass back on the table as he licks his lips and smiles sweetly over at you. âDarlinâ, how did I not know you had a tea shop so close to my store? This is the best tea Iâve ever had in my entire life,â he muses as you smile over at him in wonder.
âReally? You really liked it that much?â you ask with wide eyes glazing over his big brown eyes that you want to get lost in.
âMhm. I mean it when I say that was the best glass of tea Iâve ever had,â he says as he nods his head. âEspecially when itâs from a gorgeous girl like yourself,â he blushes.
Gorgeous? Oh. He called you gorgeous.
âOh, stop,â you laugh as you stand and grab his glass up. âYou want some more? I have plenty.â
âAbsolutely,â he nods.
You pad your bare feet into the kitchen and find Oliver sitting at the edge of the window. His large green eyes hover over at Joel and his calico markings dance in the sunlight as he creeps into the kitchen and slowly makes his way over to Joel, inspecting the newcomer in his house.
âThis must be Oliver?â Joel asks as he bends over and pets Oliver as he rubs against Joelâs leg. You giggle to yourself as thatâs a sign Oliver likes someone. Looks like Joel is now welcome in his humble abode after all.
âYep, thatâs sweet Oliver. I think he likes you,â you giggle as you watch him scratch the clean fur on his back, hearing Oliverâs loud purrs echo into the open kitchen.
âLooks like it,â he chuckles out. The sound is so warm, inviting as it reverberates through his chest. Itâs a sound youâd like to hear around here more often, a sound you could get used to fast.
âYou have any pets, Joel?â you ask as you pour more delicious liquid into his glass and saunter back over to him, setting it on the table as to not spill anymore tea on him.
âCanât say that I do. Never really was a cat person, but for some reason this one seems to like me,â he says as Oliver rubs up against his leg and jumps up into your lap the moment you sit down.
âHmm, guess he has a good sense of judgement,â you wink at him, watching him nervously run a hand through his tousled dark curls. You want to run your hands through his curls, down his patchy beard thatâs sprinkled with salt and pepper grey. He looks to be in his mid forties, an older man who youâd love to get to know better.
âHow ummm, how old are you, sweetheart?â he asks as he drags his thick fingers through his patchy scruff, ending at his chin as he drops his hand gently back to his lap.
âTwenty-nine. And yourself?â you ask as you cock an eyebrow up at him.
âForty-three,â he answers nervously as if to await a harsh judgement his way. You have no issue with an older man though. You wouldnât even mind if he was your same age, you just wanted to know him. You were intrigued by his charm and creative hands.
âForty-three, huh?â you ask as your eyes flick up and down him, memorizing his lean jaw and the way his fingers lightly flex in his lap when he has his eyes fixed on you. You were starting to read him well. He was nervous, maybe a little shy around the edges, but you definitely saw that he was nervous about his age. He shouldnât be.
âYeah, Iâm an old man,â he jokes as his cheeks turn slightly pink from nerves.
âNah, youâre definitely not old,â you confirm. âIf you were old, you wouldnât have been able to carry that table in for me,â you smile.
âForty-three ainât too old for ya?â he teases, but his eyes focus intently on you, needing to know he had a chance. And he definitely had a chance.
âNo, itâs the perfect age,â you smile shyly.
He laughs and shakes his head, making a stray curl fall against his forehead. Without even thinking, you take your hand and push it back out of his eyes and feel just how silky smooth his hair really is.
His lips part open as you realize just how close to his face you are now, just a couple inches from his plush lips that probably taste of velvet. Your heart speeds up as you stare into his beautiful eyes, seeing every single golden brown fleck that glistens like galaxies in his eyes. You feel your hand drop to his chest, feel him lean forward as you inhale that woodsy scent that draws you to him. Youâre so close, so close to a taste of heaven you so desperately want to reach.
When you realize just what youâre doing, you push back from him and put some distance in between the two of you as you catch your breath and come back down to reality. You almost kissed him. Why the fuck did you stop? You take a large drink of your tea and let the floral flavors float down your throat, hoping itâll cool off your flushed cheeks as you feel fire burn through your core.
Get a hold of yourself. You just met this man.
Joel clears his throat and shifts his weight on the couch, grabbing his glass as he takes another generous gulp of the purple tea. Oliver sits across the room now and stares in between the two of you, meowing as even he feels the connection in the quiet room.
Joel clears the air as the heated moment disappears for the time being. âSo, youâre a flower girl, huh?â he asks as his eyes gaze around the room at all your colorful hanging pots of flowers and plants that line the walls.
âHow could you tell?â you ask with a flirtatious gleam in your smile.
âOh, you know. Lucky guess,â he smirks as you feel your insides coat with warmth.
âWell, Iâll let you in on a little secret,â you giggle. âI have an entire garden out in the backyard, too. Actually, more like an enchanted forest, but you know. Youâd have to see it to believe it.â
âOh, yeah? You gonna show it to me?â he asks as a smile curls against his lips, making a dimple appear that nearly brings you to your knees. Heâs so pretty that it hurts.
âIf you want me to,â you say through long lashes that fan out for him.
He chuckles lightly and nods. âCâmon then. Show me,â he says as he stands and reaches for your hand. Youâre hesitant at first, but he keeps it extended and nods down at his hand. âCâmon, sweetheart. I know you want to show me.â Thatâs all the encouragement you need.
You take his hand as he helps you up, feeling his calloused fingers close around yours as he pulls you off the velvety surface. He keeps his hand latched around yours until you make it to the back door, feeling a sigh escape your lips as his warmth leaves your hand the moment he drops his fingers from yours. His hand in yours felt so good, it felt right.
You slide on a pair or sandals and lead him down your back porch, past the flowing stone fountain where birds are sitting getting drinks and ruffling their feathers as they bathe in the cool water. You lead him down a winding stone path and watch as he follows close behind.
You trail your fingers on some tall standing cedar trees and push past a small field of sunflowers, watching as the golden finches hang on the flower stems and feed on the seeds. You look behind you and see Joel looking all around him as he takes in the sights of crowded red rose bushes and white tulips that sit side by side as their colors paint each other crimson and white.
âWhere are you taking me?â he laughs as he follows close behind.
âYouâll see,â you smile back at him as you grab ahold of his wrist and whisk him to the left, nearing your favorite spot in the place you call your enchanted forest.
As you round a small corner and go through a vine wrapped awning, you pull him into the middle of a large circular field that has rows and rows of different colored wildflowers that scatter across the entire field. Beds of strawberries, grape vines, and all types of various herbs have their own raised beds. Lavender, white lilies, purple irises, and different types of carnations display every which was as the sound of the rushing stream that sits behind a forest of trees carries through the wind. This is home to you.
You spin around and find Joel looking dazed as he takes in his surroundings. He runs his large hands across the growing lavender as he lets his fingers dwindle on the green stems, looking carefully over everything that sits in front of him. He looks to be in awe.
âWelcome to my little place I call my enchanted forest,â you say as you continue staring at him as he slowly turns your direction, releasing his fingers from the lavender that sways slowly in the spring air.
âDid you grow all this?â he asks with wide eyes as you see a Monarch butterfly land softly on the side of his sleeve.
âI did. Took me a little over a year to get everything going, but I think it turned out nicely.â
You walk over in front of him and hold your finger out to the butterfly, watching it come to you as it crawls over your index finger, letting you hold it carefully in your hand as you smile and say hello to the beautiful butterfly.
âBeautiful creatures, arenât they?â you smile, watching it flap its bright orange wings as it flies off in the direction of some pink wildflowers.
You turn slowly to Joel, and heâs just standing there staring at you as if heâs stuck in a trance. His golden brown eyes gaze into yours as his lips part just the slightest. âYeah, they are,â he says quietly. But heâs not looking at the butterfly anymore, heâs looking at you. You feel your cheeks burn hot at the way heâs looking at you. He makes you feel so nervous yet so beautiful at the same time. Itâs strange, really. Nothing youâve experienced before.
âDid you know theyâre the state insect of Texas?â you say proudly as you pick up a fallen lavender rose off the ground.
âNo, I didnât know that. Fascinating,â he says awestruck, his voice quiet again as his eyes never waver from yours.
You twirl the purple rose in your hand and smile down at it as your fingers brush over the soft, velvety petals. Lavender roses mean enchantment, wonder, and love at first sight. You canât help but giggle to yourself as you walk over to Joel and slip the rose inside the pocket on his blue flannel shirt, accentuating his look as he looks down and runs his finger over the flower.
âYou know, all roses have different meanings, depending on their color,â you say as you rock on your heels, your hands behind your back as you play with your fingers nervously.
âOh, whatâs this color mean?â he asks as he runs another finger over the soft petals.
âIt means enchantment, wonder, and admiration,â you smile, leaving the love at first sight out as you feel the sun warm your rosy cheeks.
His eyes look up into yours as a small smile curls against his lips, his eyes lighting up like warm honey that you want to drown in. âEnchantment, is that right?â he asks as he takes a step closer to you, his leather boots meeting the edge of your open sandals as you suck in a breath.
âThatâs right,â you say quietly, eyes never leaving his warm colored irises.
âWell, you sure enchanted me, sweetheart,â he smiles, his eyes staring straight into yours as you feel warmth overwhelm all your senses.
You enchanted him.
You break his gaze and look down shyly, unable to say anything to that sentence except just to blush and turn around so he doesnât see the ridiculous smile thatâs covering your face. Turns out he enchanted you, too.
âCome here, I want to show you something else,â you say as you lead him over to the large white trellis walls where blackberry vines trail along the ladder. You fill your hands with the deep colored blackberries and tell Joel to follow your lead.
He looks at you with knitted eyebrows as you tell him to be quiet and watch his step. You take him to the edge of the woods where the trees are thick and tall, a sea of green sprawled out in front of you as you click your tongue against the roof of your mouth, calling to the family of deer that usually greet you every evening.
âWhat are you doinâ, darlinâ?â he asks quietly as he leans up against the smooth bark of a tall cedar tree.
âWhy donât you take a look?â you smile as you nod your head in the direction of the woods. He straightens up as he watches the pack of deer walk cautiously out into the open as they gather around and greet you.
âHey there, guys. You hungry?â you ask as you hold your hand out for them to come up to. They come all at once, their reddish-brown coats glistening in the sun as their long legs patter lightly against the green grass. Their wet noses kiss your skin as they eat the berries slowly out of the palm of your hand. You giggle as their wet noses tickle your skin.
Joel stares in wonder, his eyes focused on you as you laugh and smile as each of the deer take berries from your hand. He watches how happy you are as you reach out your open palm and stroke gently over their backs, amazed that wild deer allow you to touch them.
He watches how your eyes light up each time one of the females rub their head gently against the middle of your arm, watches the way you interact and speak to them as if theyâre human themselves.
Heâs smitten with your smile. That damn beautiful smile that takes the breath from his lungs. And God, he thinks heâs falling in love. Heâs never seen someone quite like you before. Youâre so soft, so gentle. Almost as if youâre a delicate rose yourself.
You catch him watching you with the daze of his warm eyes, a soft smile etching the corner of his mouth as he stares at you. Itâs like heâs in a trance, and it makes you tingle with pure delight inside.
âJoel, come here,â you instruct as you nod your head and call him over.
âOh, no I couldnât,â he says timidly as he leans harder against the tree. Youâre not letting him get off that easily.
âJoel, please. Just give me your hand.â You reach for him and take his hand in yours, leading him over carefully to the family of deer. He doesnât pull his hand away, he just keeps his fingers tightly closed over yours.
âHere, wanna feed them?â you ask as you scatter some blackberries in his calloused hands. He slightly hesitates at first, but then he eases up as he holds his hand out and lets one of the females eat out of the palm of his hand. You watch him carefully as his face relaxes, his shoulders lowering as his hand lays flat with the berries inside them. Another deer comes over and starts grazing out of his hand, and you swear you see a little twinkle in his brown eyes.
âI think they like you,â you giggle, watching the way they crowd around him just like they do with you.
âIâve never fed wild deer before. Itâs⊠well, itâsâŠâ
âAmazing.â You finish his sentence for him as he nods his head up and down.
âExactly that,â he replies.
When the blackberries are gone, you gently take his hand in yours and reach his arm out, showing him how to pet them the right way so theyâll remember him and want to come back later. You keep your hand on top of his and guide it along the soft fur as one of the females lets you stroke the top of her head. You drop your hand from Joelâs and watch him still trail his hand up and down the deerâs side, seeing the way a soft smile spreads across his face.
âThere you go. Youâre a natural,â you beam as his honey eyes meet yours, sending a wave of bliss down your entire body.
He just shakes his head and chuckles out a deep laugh. âI swear, itâs like youâre Snow White. Youâre really somethinâ special, arenât ya?â he asks as his eyes sink into the pits of your soul.
Special. He thinks youâre special.
âThank you for thinking that,â you giggle shyly. âI just know how to get in touch with nature. Itâs one of my favorite places to be,â you say with a sing-song voice as you tilt your head and take in the splashes of warm sun against your skin.
Joel just watches dreamily as you close your eyes and take in the sun. He thinks youâre the most beautiful girl heâs ever seen, knows just how special you are. He thinks he knew the moment he laid his eyes on you.
When all the deer have left, you give him a tour of your grand garden, telling him all about your favorite flowers and take him down to the edge of the stream as little minnows swim around the middle of the clear water. When you start to lead him back to the house, he starts up light conversation again.
âYou really are an expert on nature, arenât ya? Anything from flowers to planting herbs to animals. Youâre really quite somethinâ,â he says mesmerized as he stops on the edge of the porch and lingers his hand next to yours, grazing his thumb lightly against the back of your hand as you feel the sparks light up like a million fireworks going off at once. Itâs warm, feels safe, makes you feel alive as you trail your pinky finger against his. You want to dance in the flames, let the orange sparks ignite your soul as they take you down to devour you whole.
âYou think so?â you smile, watching his honey glazed eyes trail over yours.
âMhm. Just like a little garden fairy,â he teases as he traces his calloused fingers down your jawline slowly. âGonna have to teach me more, enchantress,â he whispers as his fingers drop from your jawline, your face burning with desire as you beg to be touched by him again.
Enchantress. The word echoes through your mind as his Southern drawl crashes through your ears. Enchantress, you repeat back to yourself. Heâs so sweet, just like the honey that swims in his captivating eyes.
âIâd like that,â you swallow as nerves build in your chest.
He pulls his phone out of his pocket and opens up a blank contact page on the lit up screen, handing it to you so you can type in your phone number. You take the phone from his hands and dance your fingers over the keyboard, putting a fairy emoji next to your name as you push save. You hand it back over to him as he slides it back into the pocket of his jeans.
The sun starts to set as colors of deep purple, bright orange, and dark pink paint the sky red as the sun slowly slips beneath the fluffy clouds. He rakes a hand through his tousled curls and nods your direction as he steps down the porch steps. You wish heâd stay for dinner, but you should probably let him get back home.
âIt was nice meeting you, darlinâ.â He says your name slowly as it drips off his tongue like sweet molasses, sending butterflies flitting through your stomach. âYou gonna save some of that sweet tea for me next time?â
Next time. That means there will be a next time. Another day with Joel Miller sipping on your herbal tea as you teach him all about your favorite things. It sounds absolutely magical.
You smile gently at him and shake your head. âIâll have a pitcher waiting for you,â you promise.
He chuckles as a smile splays against his gorgeous face, painting his eyes the color of hazelnut coffee. So fucking beautiful. âAlright, sweetheart. Iâll hold you to it.â
He turns and walks back to his Chevy truck, but before he makes it he turns around and gives you one more long, waning glance. His eyes full of admiration. âGoodnight, sweetheart.â
âGoodnight,â you whisper back to him, letting the soft wind carry your voice over to him. He gives you one more lingering smile and then walks away. You watch him start the engine and watch as the his headlights disappear through the trees, down the gravel road thatâll lead him back home.
You turn and slide down your porch, leaning your elbows against the edge of your lilac dress as you let out the longest sigh youâve ever breathed out of your mouth. Oliver comes up and brushes up against your hip, meowing as he stares up at the lingering dirt in the air from Joelâs truck.
âYeah, Oliver, I think I like this one, too,â you sigh, daydreaming about the next time youâll see those dreamy brown eyes of his again.
Joel lays in his bed that night, twirling the lavender colored rose between his fingers, inhaling the scent of fresh gardens, sweet smelling flowers, and you. Heâs already memorized your exact smell. You smell like rose petals, lilacs, and sweet tea. Itâs intoxicating, a fragrance he canât seem to get out of his head.
And your smile. God, that sweet smile you give him makes him a weak man. He could never say no to you as long as you fluttered those long, dark eyelashes up at him as you flash him that beautiful smile. The one that makes his heart swell in his chest. He canât wait to see you again. Just the thought of him pulling you in his arms with that form fitting lilac sundress sends chills down his spine. Joel Miller is not one to fall easily, but for you it might be as easy as putting one foot in front of the other.
He places the soft purple rose on his mahogany bedside table and takes a picture as his camera flashes over the rose. He pulls up your name and attaches the picture with a cute little message.
Please, donât mess this up, Joel. Sheâs too perfect.
Your phone chimes on your cream painted nightstand, and you roll over in your queen sized bed, taking the lilac sheets with you as you reach for your iPhone. You see a number you donât recognize on the lit up screen and slide the lock open. Your heart jolts as soon as you see the picture of the lavender rose on his nightstand, the words take your breath away. Itâs him, Joel.
Joel: Thanks again for the rose, little enchantress.
You melt as you read the text over and over and over again. Little enchantress. The nickname nearly makes you fall out of bed with how sweet it is. You text him back a couple minutes later.
You: Youâre so very welcome. Youâre always welcome to come get some more. My garden is always open.
You end the text with a smiley face and a rose emoji, setting your phone back on the nightstand after pushing send and then hug the silky purple pillow to your chest.
He kept the rose you gave him. He kept the rose. He was thinking about you just like you were thinking about him.
You turn again in your silky lilac sheets and inhale the soft vanilla candles that burn in the corner of your room. The gentle breeze of night slips through your cracked window and blows the sheer white curtains to the side. Shadows dance across your lilac covered walls, and it almost looks like two people slow dancing in the moonlight. You pretend itâs you and Joel, dancing under the moonlight as he pulls you close and grazes his lips against yours, pretend his hands envelop yours as his calloused fingers graze the edges of your face.
You turn back around and close your eyes, wishing for dreams of dark eyes and tousled curls. Joel, Joel Joel. You were all his, all for the taking. He just needed to come sweep you off your feet, and youâd be his. You already knew, he was the one you wanted, the one youâd been wishing for for your entire life. He was the one.
Joel was the one.

and I lost you [TS drabble challenge]
Here's my entry into @beskarandblasters's Taylor Swift Drabble Challenge! I got Maroon and Joel. Get ready for Angst CityÂźïž! (Divider by @saradika-graphics)
Song: Maroon (Midnights) Pedro boy: Joel Miller
Pairing: Joel Miller x ex!f!Reader (written in Joel's POV) Word Count: 686 Warnings/tags: post-outbreak, Joel's POV, no use of y/n, unspecified age gap, alcohol consumption, infidelity, aaaaangst, heavy reference to Taylor Swift lyrics, not beta'd
Joel lay awake in his bed, shifting his position for the umpteenth time while his memories play over and over in his head. No matter how he wraps his flannel sheets around himself, the bed is never as warm as it is when you were in it with him. But thatâs all gone to shit now that heâs lost you.
He knows heâs made a fool of himself. Knows that heâs failed you. You - beautiful, charming, the only one to slip past his defenses, the walls he put up around himself to keep out everything, even the good. He let you into his home and his heart, let you fill it with laughter. He remembers how you told him stories about your college days before the outbreak, about your vinyl shelf full of records, of nights where you woke up on the floor in the late morning after too much cheap rose wine. He told you stories about Sarah, whom he never talked about to anyone besides you and Tommy. Her prowess at soccer, how she would help out their elderly neighbors, the watch she got fixed for him for his birthday - the day before his world ended. He felt safe with you, and you with him. You chose him, and he chose you.
He doesnât know when it started. But youâd been frustrated with Tommyâs reliance on Joel for border patrol; you felt that he was putting himself in unnecessary amounts of danger. Arguments started cropping up, and more than once youâd left the house to stay at Tommy and Mariaâs after particularly bad fights. On more than one of those occasions, heâd trudged to the Tipsy Bison to drown his sorrows and avoid his feelings. And on one of those nights, he let temptation win out.
She was one of Mariaâs friends, older than you were, closer to Joelâs age. Sheâd always blatantly flirted with him, despite him mentioning you and everyone knowing you and Joel were together. She was one of those women who liked challenges, who wanted to play games. She didnât like that Joel resisted all of her advances, so she waited until he was at his weakest to pounce. Too many whiskeys in, Joel had let her drag him behind the bar. Had let her kiss him, his lips barely moving back against hers in response. She promised she could make him feel better than you did, that he didnât need a girl like you, he needed a woman - despite you being more of a woman than she could even dream of. He didnât stop her when she kissed down his neck, when she left marks along his collarbone - ones he knew youâd notice. He was just so mad at you for being right about the patrol shifts, but he felt guilty saying no to Tommy after all this time apart from him. His awful defense mechanisms figured that if you had left the house, it meant you didnât want him or need him, and he wanted to forget.
But he was so wrong. When he stumbled back to the house, he didnât expect you to be there. Didnât think youâd be sipping red wine at the counter, waiting for him. So when he entered the living room, his button-up disheveled, the darkening hickey across his collarbone clear as day, you looked shell-shocked, then distraught, then more angry than youâd ever been before. You took the glass youâd been drinking out of and flung the contents at him, the burgundy splashing onto his t-shirt and face. You said nothing as you stormed out of the house, but right before you slammed the door, he heard the most heart-wrenching sob begin to wrack your chest as you held your head in your hands.Â
He felt like his heart had been strangled, but he knew everything was his fault. He deserved the full weight of the hurt he made you endure. Laying awake with your memory over him, he realized what a real fucking legacy his betrayal was to leave to you, the one he chose, the one who had chosen him.

Song: But Daddy I Love Him by Taylor Swift
Previous Chapter â Next Chapter | Series Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Joel doesn't think you both slept a wink that first week, the two of you creeping around in the dead of night and again in the pre-dawn light. You were over at Joel's place every morning, right after your dad left for work. He still thinks you're in your own bed every night, only helping Joel out part-time during the day.
But in between when he leaves for work and when he gets home for dinner, you're right where you belong â by Joel's side. Or, in most cases, bouncing your fine ass on the end of his thick, throbbing cock until you're screaming his name into a pillow.
It's not as if you haven't tried to tell your dad the truth. Joel has, too. But it cuts him up to keep anything from his oldest friend, especially when he sees your dad on such a high. Telling him the reality of the situation would surely ruin him.
Even though Joel knows it's the right thing to do, the thought of shattering your father's newfound joy and confidence is almost too much to bear. He's seen the way your dad's face lights up when he talks about the success of his business, all thanks to Joel's intervention.
Your dad is even making noise about setting up a workshop on the East Coast, making Joel's original idea sound like his own. But if it makes him happy, Joel's happy. Because of all that, you and Joel made a pact â if your dad asks either of you directly if you're anything more than just friends, you'll tell him the truth. But he's been so busy that neither of you have actually seen much of him at all.
As uneasy as it makes Joel, keeping the both of you a secret just a little longer seems like the easiest way to avoid making waves. Or so Joel thought. It's been two weeks to the day, and Joel doesn't think you or him have ever been happier your whole lives, except for the sneaking around past your dad bit.
But your dad is no dummy. And Joel can see now that he should have just come out with it, long before helping him get his business into first gear. You both guess that you two got lazy.
It happens right after another one of your father's dinners on a Friday night. He's insisted Joel, Tommy, and Sarah come over, and he'll cook for all of you. But come eleven o'clock, when Tommy and Sarah go home, and then midnight, you and Joel are giving each other guarded glances. And your dad takes on the air of a man who has something to say.
"I should probably head to bed," you say, about to excuse yourself, but your dad asks you to sit.
"You don't have to pretend anymore, honey," your dad says calmly, shaking his head and laughing to himself. But it's not a happy laugh â it's a wounded, ironic kind of grimace he wears as his eyes settle on Joel's.
"And you, Joel? I suppose you're beat after spending the day with my daughter 'helping you out' around the house, huh?" your dad says cuttingly, but he regains his composure quickly.
"I guess I have somethin' to tell you," Joel croaks, trying to swallow but feeling his mouth dry as dirt.
"I guess we both have something to tell you," you add, making Joel jump when your hand slips into his, and you rest them both on the table.
Your dad takes in a sharp breath, steadying himself, and Joel has to say, he's being a fucking man about it. "So go ahead," he murmurs.
"Tell me all about it," he says before raising his hand quickly. "No. Don't tell me all about it. I don't need to know the sordid details... Just tell me when all this started, Joel. You too, hon'," he asks, looking over to you, his eyes filling up with tears before either of you even says a word.
"How could you?" he sniffs bitterly, looking every bit as hurt and betrayed as Joel thought he might, but he's not angry. Not angry at all. Just hurt that you two have been fooling around behind his back and keeping secrets.
You feel upset too and lower your head in shame, but Joel, for one, feels better now that he knows. The burden of the lie has been removed, and he's ready to face the consequences, whatever they may be.
Joel takes a deep breath, his hand tightening around yours. "I've been in love with her since the day she graduated," he tells your father, his voice steady and unwavering.
"Things moved quicker than I thought, and it wasn't until we both knew how much we were in love that it meant hurting you if you knew," Joel explains, not making excuses, but trying to help your dad understand.
Your father is silent for a moment, his brow furrowed in thought. "So. You coming all the way out here, for good. All that was just a way to get to her?" he asks, his tone laced with a hint of accusation.
"Don't twist it to make it look like that," Joel retorts, but your dad isn't entirely wrong.
"I meant what I said about helping you, and I still do," Joel reminds him, his voice firm.
"I can give her more than any man half my age, too. Give her a life..." Joel trails off, his words hanging in the air.
The tension in the room is palpable as your dad's anger flares, his words sharp and cutting. "What? Give her a life her father couldn't? She's my fucking daughter, Joel. Who the fuck asked you to help yourself, huh?" he demands, his frustration evident. But you interject, your own voice rising in defense.
"I'm not a kid anymore, Dad. I'm an adult. And I know you've provided for me, always made sure I have everything I need," you assert, your tone firm and unwavering.
"But do you think a woman like me is ever gonna have a guy like Joel just breeze into town, sweep me off my feet, and then let him go?" you challenge defiantly. "Getting eight bucks an hour tutoring part-time and living with my Dad into my old age isnât the kind of life I had planned for myself."
Joel admires your fire, proud of you for speaking your mind. The air crackles with tension, but at least everyone is having their fair say. Despite the burning bridge, the honesty in the room feels like a weight lifted off your shoulders.
For your dad to take the news without his fists flying, Joel realizes he's matured more gracefully than he would have given him credit for. The pulse of the moment slows, the truth out in the open. No more hiding, but decisions loom ahead that may not be easy.
Your father reflects, a nostalgic air settling around him. "I knew that day of your graduation, sweetheart. And I know you better than you think, Joel," he says, his gaze shifting between the two of you. "I just didn't want to believe it."
"I love her," Joel declares, his voice unwavering. "I'm having his baby, Dad," you begin, the revelation causing a moment of shock between both your dad and Joel, before your laughter breaks the tension.
âYou should have seen your faces.â You chuckle a little.
"Honestly, I want to have his kids, Dad. I want us to be together forever. I want to take care of Sarah. House, kids... the whole nine yards," you chime in, relief evident in your voice.
Your father's response is unexpected, a mix of emotions playing across his face. "I know you do, sweetie," he comforts you, a smile creasing his face. "You wanna be the mom you never had. And I guess I just didn't wanna lose the little girl I raised all on my own."
As your father prepares to leave, the moment's weight settles over you all. "I just need time, Joel," he finally says. "Time to get used to all this... Time to get used to not having her around."
The nuclear fallout you both expected never came, not in the way you expected. The night ends with a sense of understanding and acceptance, your father's blessing a silent promise of support and love.
Walking home next door, the weight of the evening hangs heavy in the air. In the quiet of your shared bed, you find solace in Joel's arms, the raw emotion of the moment bringing you closer than ever before. You are crying in his embrace, the tears flowing freely as the tension and relief of the confrontation with your father wash over you.
But it feels just as good to Joel, this shared vulnerability. Sharing the not-so-great times as well as the good times â this is what being with someone is truly all about. The good thing is that you don't have to keep anything secret anymore, and better still, you both have your dad's blessing.
Probably the most important thing for Joel, because without his best friend and the woman he loves, where would he be?
"We good?" you sniffle, rubbing your puffy eyes as you look up at Joel. He lifts your face from his chest, holding you close.
"Oh, we're better than good, darlin'," he smiles back at you. "We're perfect," he tells you, stroking your hair as you lie silent for a long time.
"I love you," you eventually murmur, drifting into a dreamless sleep with a little smile playing on your lips.
"And I love you more," he promises you, kissing your forehead goodnight. He's already waiting for the morning so he can tell you the same again, his heart swelling with the knowledge that you are his, and he is yours, without the need for secrecy or shame.
The weight of the evening has lifted, replaced by a sense of relief and contentment. No longer do you have to tiptoe around, hiding your love and affection. Your father's blessing, though not without its reservations, is a testament to the depth of your connection and the trust he has in Joel to care for you.
As you sleep peacefully in Joel's arms, he can't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude. This woman, this life, is more than he ever dared to dream of. With your father's acceptance, the path ahead is clearer, and Joel is determined to cherish every moment, to build a future that will make you both proud.
As you stir from the depths of slumber, the remnants of a dream linger, tantalizing and vivid. Joel's image flickers in your mind, a hunger burning behind your eyelids, a relentless craving that claws at your senses.
With a slow, drowsy blink, reality floods back, engulfing you in a haze of sensation. Heat coils low in your belly, radiating outward as awareness seeps into every pore. And then you feel itâthe intoxicating pressure between your thighs, a languid caress that sends sparks shooting up your spine.
Your gaze drifts downward, heart pounding in your chest as you take in the sight before you. Joel lies beneath the duvet, his form obscured yet unmistakable in the dim light. His rugged features are softened by the shadows, the scruff of his beard grazing your skin like a promise unspoken.
A shiver courses through you as his tongue dances over your slick folds, igniting a firestorm of need that threatens to consume you whole. Your back arches involuntarily, a breathy sigh escaping your lips as pleasure blossoms deep within.
"Joel... fuck..." you moan, the words torn from your throat in a desperate plea for more. His head emerges from beneath the covers, lips glistening with your essence, eyes smoldering with untamed desire.
"You gotta be quiet, darlin'," he murmurs, his voice thick with a southern drawl that sends shivers cascading down your spine. "Might wake the whole house up. Can you do that for me, be a good girl?"
Your heart pounds in your chest, pulse racing as his words wash over you like a wave crashing against the shore. With a nod, you bite down on your lip, a silent promise of compliance as you surrender to the whirlwind of sensation engulfing you.
As Joel's tongue delves deeper, tracing patterns of ecstasy along your sensitive flesh, your senses spiral out of control. Every flick, every swirl sends shockwaves of pleasure cascading through your body, igniting a fierce inferno that threatens to consume you whole.
"Fuck, Joel," you whimper, fingers tangling in the sheets as you surrender to the heady rush of sensation. His touch is electric, setting your nerve endings ablaze with a fervor unlike anything you've ever known.
With a low growl, Joel's lips capture yours in a searing kiss, his tongue tangling with yours in a passionate dance of desire. His hands roam over your trembling form, tracing the curves of your body with reverent exploration.
"You taste like heaven, darlin'," he murmurs against your skin, his breath hot against your ear. "Gonna make you scream my name until the whole damn house knows who you belong to."
A shudder wracks your body at his words, desire pooling low in your belly as you succumb to the primal urge driving you both. With a wordless plea, you arch into his touch, craving more of him with every fiber of your being.
Joel's fingers slip between your thighs, finding you slick and ready for him. With a wicked grin, he teases your entrance, circling your clit with agonizing slowness before plunging deep inside you with a single, relentless thrust.
"Fuck, yes," you cry out, the words torn from your lips in a breathless plea for more. Joel's pace quickens, each thrust driving you higher and higher until you're teetering on the edge of oblivion.
In the soft glow of morning light streaming through the window, you find yourself tangled in Joel's embrace, limbs intertwined in a mess of sheets and limbs. His chest rises and falls with each breath, the rhythmic cadence a comforting lullaby as you revel in the aftermath of your shared passion.
With a tender sigh, Joel presses a lingering kiss to your forehead, his touch gentle against your feverish skin. "God, you're beautiful," he murmurs, his voice thick with emotion. "I could spend eternity right here, just like this."
You feel the heat stain your cheeks at his words, warmth flooding your veins at the intensity of his gaze. "I feel the same way," you whisper, fingers tracing lazy patterns over his chest. "Being with you like this... it's like coming home."

As you walked side by side, the conversation flowed effortlessly between you, a mix of playful banter and heartfelt confessions that deepened the connection between you. Joel's laughter was like music to your ears, his Texan drawl adding a touch of charm to every word he spoke.
"You know, darlin', I can't get enough of these little moments with you," Joel said, his gaze warm and adoring. "It's like the rest of the world just fades away when I'm with you."
You felt a blush creep across your cheeks, your heart fluttering at his words. "I feel the same way, Joel. Being here with you, it's like everything else just falls away."
The setting sun painted the sky in hues of pink and orange, casting a romantic glow over the scene. You couldn't help but steal glances at Joel, his features bathed in the warm light, his eyes reflecting the beauty of the moment.
As you reached a secluded spot by a tranquil pond, Joel's gaze met yours, a silent understanding passing between you. Without a word, he pulled you into his arms, his touch sending a surge of desire through you. The world around you faded away, leaving only the two of you in a bubble of shared intimacy.
"I can't get enough of you," Joel murmured, his voice low and husky. "Every moment with you feels like a dream."
You melted into his embrace, the heat of his body searing through you. The air crackled with tension, desire simmering just beneath the surface as you lost yourselves in each other.
The soft rustle of the wind in the trees provided a gentle soundtrack to your shared moment, heightening the sense of intimacy between you. In that perfect moment, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of Joel's touch, you felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over you.
As the evening drew to a close, the stars began to twinkle in the darkening sky, casting a magical spell over the night. With Joel by your side, you felt like anything was possible, the future stretching out before you like a blank canvas waiting to be painted with the colors of your love.
The stars had begun to twinkle in the darkening sky, lending an enchanted quality to the night. As you and Joel continued your leisurely stroll through the park, hand-in-hand, you couldn't help but be filled with a sense of wonder and possibility.
As if reading your thoughts, Joel squeezed your hand gently, his dimpled smile lighting up his features. "What's got you smiling like that, darlin'?" he asked, his affectionate nickname for you causing a flutter in your heart.
"I don't know," you replied honestly. "I just feel so... happy."
Joel's smile widened at your words. "Me too. Being here with you feels like magic."
You walked in comfortable silence for a while, taking in the sights and sounds around you. The chirping of crickets, the rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze, the distant hum of traffic - it all blended together to create a peaceful symphony that added to the romantic atmosphere.
As you reached a small clearing by a pond, Joel guided you towards a bench tucked away under a weeping willow tree. Sitting down beside him, you leaned against his shoulder as he wrapped an arm around you.
"This is perfect," he said softly, gazing out at the tranquil water. "Just being here with you under this beautiful sky."
The next few days were a whirlwind of stolen glances and heated touches, the air thick with unspoken desire and anticipation. Every stolen moment with Joel left you breathless, your skin tingling with the promise of what was to come. The thought of your father's imminent return lingered in the back of your mind, but in Joel's arms, the world faded away, leaving only the two of you in a bubble of shared intimacy.
One evening, as you stood side by side in the cozy kitchen, the scent of simmering spices filling the air, Joel's presence was a magnetic pull you couldn't resist. Without warning, he pulled you into his arms, his lips capturing yours in a searing kiss that left you dizzy with need.
"I've been craving this all day, darlin'," Joel murmured against your lips, his breath hot against your skin.
A soft giggle escaped your lips, your fingers trailing down the strong lines of his jaw. "You certainly know how to make a girl feel special, don't you?"
Joel's eyes gleamed with mischief, a wicked grin playing on his lips. "Oh, sweetheart, you have no idea what I have in store for you. I'm just gettinâ started."
Before you could respond, Joel scooped you up in his arms, a playful glint in his eyes as he carried you towards the bedroom. Your heart raced with excitement, your arms wrapping around his neck as he laid you down on the soft sheets, his body pressing against yours in a deliciously intimate embrace.
The room was bathed in a soft, golden light, the air heavy with the promise of passion and desire. Joel's touch ignited a fire within you, his hands roaming your body with a hunger that mirrored your own. Every caress, every kiss, sent a jolt of electricity through you, building the tension between you to a fever pitch.
Joel's breath was hot against your skin, his body moving in time with the rhythm of your own desires. He pulled away for a moment, gazing into your eyes, the only source of light in the room casting shadows across his face. "I love you," he whispered, his voice husky with need.
You couldn't respond, lost in the intensity of the moment. Your heart pounded in your chest, matching the throbbing pulse of desire between your legs. With a low growl, Joel moved his lips to yours once more, his tongue probing your mouth with a fierce hunger.
The sound of your labored breaths, mingling with the low growls of desire that escaped his lips. The air grew heavy with anticipation, charged by the electricity that crackled between you. His fingers traced the sensitive skin at the apex of your thighs, sending shivers of pleasure coursing through your veins.
The heat radiating from his body, the primal energy pulsing between you. As he pulled you closer, your muscles tensed in anticipation, every cell in your body yearning for the connection.
His lips met yours in a searing kiss, their tongues dancing together in a frenzied tango of need. You could taste the sweetness of desire on his lips, the tang of salt from your tears of pleasure. His hands roamed your body, exploring every inch of your skin as if committing it to memory.
You couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement as he spoke those words. You wanted nothing more than to take him into your mouth, venturing into the world of pleasure and sin that awaited you. You opened your mouth, allowing your tongue to dart out and wet your lips in anticipation, his eyes never leaving yours.
He guided his erection towards your mouth, the velvety head brushing against your lips. You opened wider, welcoming his invasion. His eyes darkened, and he groaned as you enveloped the entirety of his shaft in your warm embrace. You began to suck gently, the rhythmic motion of your head creating a wet, slurpy sound as your lips and tongue massaged him.
As he thrust deeper into your mouth, you struggled to breathe, your lungs involuntarily attempting to escape the suffocating embrace of his thick, pulsating member. Yet, you remained steadfast, determined to please him, to satiate his carnal desires.
His animalistic groans echoed in your ears, as though the very walls of the room had begun to quiver in response to his euphoric release. You could feel his veins, now bulging with the ferocity of his climax, vibrate against your sensitive lips and tongue, heightening the already intense sensations coursing through your body.
You could feel his heart pounding wildly, the rhythm syncing with the beats of your own. The room was filled with his scent, musk and sweat, a potent mix that drove you on. Your tongue swirled around his hard length, savoring the taste of him.
His hands gave your head a gentle squeeze, urging you on. His pleasure was your reward, the way his breath hitched and his hips thrust harder. You moved your head in time with his, sucking him deep, keeping a steady rhythm as his release approached.
The sudden tightening of his body spoke of his climax, and you knew you had to continue. Your lips glided up and down his shaft, focusing all your attention on the growing flutters within him.
Finally, he groaned, his release a hot, salty flood that filled your mouth. You swallowed quickly, eager to please him, the taste lingering on your tongue like the first bite of a ripe peach. He pulled away, breathless and flushed, his eyes locked on yours in a silent communion of satisfaction.
âYouâre turn, darlinâ,â Joel says, his eyes dark and his voice deep as midnight. You feel him grab your hips and begins to devour you, kissing every inch of skin and grabbing your body with an almost primal hunger. The air around you seems to grow thick with desire as you cling to him, your breath catching in your throat. He slides his hands up under your shirt, his fingers tracing the curve of your spine, and you can't help but arch into his touch, moaning softly.
Joel's lips trail down your neck, and you suck in a sharp breath as his teeth gently scrape against your delicate skin. A warm flush spreads across your body, and you feel yourself growing bolder, more willing with each passing moment. He bites down gently, leaving a mark that matches the one he gave you days ago, and you shudder with pleasure.
His lips explore every part of your body, getting closer and closer to your core. You can feel the heat radiating from him, his desire for you palpable in his every touch. The pace quickens as he takes your bottom lip between his teeth, biting down gently, a possession claim of sorts. Your breath hitches, your heart pounding in your chest, every nerve ending tingling with anticipation.
His hands, strong and calloused, graze the soft skin at the nape of your neck, expertly unfastening the delicate clasp of your dress. It falls to the ground, pooling around your ankles, leaving you exposed in just a lace-edged bra and matching underwear.Â
Simultaneously, his hands slide beneath your underwear, his fingers exploring, tracing patterns and leaving trails of fire on your skin. He pauses, his eyes locking with yours, his gaze fierce and unyielding. In that moment, you feel a connection, a bond that transcends physical desire. It's more than just lust; it's passion, raw and unbridled.
The room is filled with the sounds of heavy breathing, skin against skin, and moans of pleasure, creating a symphony of desire that drowns out any other noise.
The air is heavy with the scent of sweat and musk, a heady mixture that serves to heighten the sensual atmosphere. The lingering scent of scented candles adds a touch of sweetness to the mix.
You can't take it anymore. The anticipation, the desire, it's all too much. Your body is on fire, begging for release. And Joel knows it.
"Fuck, Joel, please," you whine, your hips grinding against his in desperation.
He chuckles darkly, his lips grazing against your neck. "Alright, baby," he murmurs, and before you know it, he has entered you.
His cock slides into your weeping hole with ease; you're slick and wet from both arousal and anticipation. You gasp at the feeling of him filling you up completely, every inch of him stretching you in all the right ways.
Joel's movements are slow and deliberate at first, as if savoring every moment. But soon enough, the pace quickens as he pounds into you with a primal need.Â
Your bodies move together in perfect harmony, each thrust sending shivers of pleasure through you.
Moans and gasps escape your lips uncontrollably as Joel hits all the right spots within you. Every touch feels like electricity coursing through your veins; every kiss like a fire burning between you two.
Your fingers grip onto his back desperately as he brings you closer to the edge. Your moans become louder and more frantic as your body tenses with impending release.
With one final thrust, Joel pushes both of you over the edge into pure ecstasy. Your bodies tremble together as wave after wave of pleasure washes over you. You cling onto each other tightly as powerful orgasms rock through your bodies.
As you come down from your high, Joel pulls out of you gently and collapses beside you on the bed. Your breathing is heavy and labored as both of your hearts beat in sync.
Joel pulls a blanket over both of your naked bodies before wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close to him. You snuggle into his chest contentedly, feeling more satisfied and loved than you ever have before.
The sunlight streams in through the window, casting a warm glow over your tangled bodies. You stir, slowly coming to consciousness as the events of last night flood back to you.
Your eyes flutter open and you find yourself staring into Joel's deep brown gaze. He smiles at you, his fingers still tracing soothing patterns on your skin.
"I love you," he says, his words soft and sincere.Â
The sound of his voice is filled with love and emotion, sending butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
You smile and snuggle closer to him, basking in the warmth of his love. It's a feeling like no other, one that fills you with happiness and contentment.
As you lay there together in peaceful silence, memories of how the two of you came to be fill your mind. And it was the best decision either of you had ever made.
"I can't imagine my life without you," Joel whispers, breaking the silence between you two.
Tears prick at your eyes at his words. You feel overwhelmed with emotion - gratefulness for having someone like him in your life and overwhelming love for him.
"I feel the same way," you reply honestly, turning to look into his eyes once again. "I never want to lose you."
Joel leans in and kisses you gently, sealing his promise with actions rather than words. And as your lips move against each other's in a sweet embrace, all doubts fade away.
This is real and true love; a connection that goes beyond physical attraction or fleeting emotions.
It was a connection that defied reason and logic, a force that could not be contained or explained. It was a love that knew no boundaries and bloomed in every corner of their being, the sweetest melody that echoed in their hearts with every beat.
