O ulasku u Uljanik,…

Hurtigruten Sells Kleven Werft to Croatian Conglomerate DIV Group
The Norwegian cruise operator Hurtigruten has sold its shipbuilder Kleven Werft to DIV Group, the owner of Croatian shipyard Brodosplit.
"I am incredibly happy on behalf of all employees in Kleven that we are now in the process of acquiring a new and solid owner of the yard. Through a difficult period we have managed to deliver fantastic ships," said CEO Kjetil Bollestad. "Now we, together with new owners, will think long-term and develop further. This will be a new and exciting era for all Kleven employees."
Kleven has just finished delivering two high-tech cruise ships for Hurtigruten, which is both its customer and its owner. In 2017, Hurtigruten led an investor group to take a 40 percent stake in the yard, giving Kleven a boost during a period of financial difficulty. In 2018, Hurtigruten acquired 100 percent of Kleven Werft, which was at that point experiencing delays in delivering the two new vessels.
Brodosplit competes in the same segment of the cruise ship market, and DIV Group expects to achieve synergies by combining the two companies' efforts.
"I am most pleased that Brodosplit, which we managed to place extremely well in the segment for the construction of medium-sized and polar cruise ships, has found a business partner with whom they will be able to achieve top results," said Tomislav Debeljak, owner and CEO of DIV Group. "I also expect lower construction costs and significantly lower costs to finance new projects. The total savings that can amount to up to five percent will allow us not only to increase our profitability, but also competitiveness."
For Kleven, the sale means access to working capital and a pipeline of new projects after the completion of Hurtigruten's vessels. Kleven will retain its name and identity as part of the DIV Group portfolio. The agreement is expected to be implemented within the next few weeks.
"Several potential buyers have been assessed, and we are absolutely sure that DIV Group is the right owners for Kleven. No one else has been able to demonstrate such a safe and long-term plan for the yard. This is a perfect match," said Ola Beinnes Fosse, CFO of Kleven Verft.
DIV Group is a large family-held manufacturing conglomerate based in Croatia. Its historical roots lie in the manufacturing of bolts and screws, but it has owned shipbuilder Brodosplit since the yard's privatization in 2013.

Watch: Brodosplit Launches World’s First Polar Expedition Cruise Vessel Of ‘LR PC6’ Class
Many representatives, partners in construction and financing, friends, numerous special guests and Marija Strikić from Split Down Syndrome Association were present at the launch ceremony, wishing passenger a safe journey aboard the new vessel, cutting the ceremonial rope, toasting it with champagne and symbolically launching the ship into the sea.
This ship is a symbol of Brodosplit restructuring and a breakthrough in organisational and technical design because it is built with new software, tools and technology, especially in the equipping department, where almost 80-85% of the ship is already equipped during the construction on the slipway, resulting in better quality of construction, shorter deadlines and lower construction costs – said Tomislav Debeljak, CEO of Brodosplit, before adding that in many ways this ship will be special and recognized as a permanent value for the Split shipyard and Croatian shipbuilding.
The ship is being built under a new financing model, for its own fleet and for long-term lease. The partner can repurchase it the first day after the delivery, therefore, at any time.

I am very pleased with the quality of the ship, which is already quite well equipped, with built-in drive and a lot of equipment for passenger and crew accommodation. Our team has a great deal of cooperation with the shipyard, and the ship will receive its first polar passengers in June next year – said Wijnand van Gessel, owner of Oceanwode Expeditions.
The polar cruise ship will be the world’s first ship of ‘LR PC6’ class that will meet the latest Lloyd registry requirements for the ‘Polar Class 6’ vessels. It is 107.6 m in length, 17.6 m in width, and 15 knots will provide two main engines with a total output of 4,260 kW. It will be able to accommodate 196 passengers in its 85 cabins, which will be taken care of by 70 crew members.
The polar cruise passengers will be offered high hotel-like standards as well as various cabin ranging from spacious apartments to two-room and four-room cabins, where they will be provided with multiple secured systems to provide a safe and comfortable stay.
The design and all technical solutions are entirely the work od Brodosplit’s project designers, who through this project, have successfully confirmed their key role in positioning Brodosplit high on the list of technical competency and architectural competitiveness.
