Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse just to name a few members of the legendary 27 Club, a group of musicians, artists, and actors that have died at the age of 27 ranging from the late 19th century to today. The deaths tend to result from drug and alcohol abuse, violence, suicide, and transportation related accidents. There have been many theories about this seemingly odd coincidence but there are no statistical facts that back them other than there being a slight increase in the death rate related to fame at any age. This can be considered a product of the lifestyle, living in the fast lane, as they say, experimenting with substances, the feelings of loneliness and failure, and the accidents. Considering the extensive amount of the famous departing at age 27 it does make you wonder. Here's your pass join us on a trip down the VIP list of the 27 Club.

February 13, 2016 VIOLA BEACH Viola Beach were an English indie rock group formed in 2013. The band's final line-up consisted of Kris Leonard (guitar and vocals), River Reeves (guitar), Tomas Lowe (bass guitar) and Jack Dakin (drums). On 13 February 2016 the four band members and their manager Craig Tarry died in an incident on the E4 motorway bridge at Södertälje (southwest of Stockholm), Sweden. Witnesses saw the car fall through a gap in the bridge which was open to let a boat pass. The cause of the crash wasn't immediately known. On 15 February it was announced that the Swedish police had opened an inquiry into the incident. On 25 February a Stockholm police spokesperson was quoted as saying "We can confirm that the very preliminary post mortem results show that the driver of the car had no trace of alcohol or drugs in the blood". Police didn't release the identity of the driver. On the same day the police officer in charge of the investigation was quoted as saying "We have been able to see that the car braked before reaching the bridge. That allows us to rule out that the driver fell asleep. But what has actually happened is completely inexplicable. Right now there is no hypothesis". In UK inquests into the deaths were opened and adjourned on 3 March at Warrington Coroner's Court by Cheshire coroner who also released the bodies of the five men so their families could make funeral arrangements. After analysis video from a traffic camera the police offered a reconstruction of the event. After the bridge barriers had been lowered and before car came two lorries stood in the right lane and two personal cars in the left lane in front of the bridge's first barrier. Viola Beach's car came in the left lane used the brakes, then swerved into the narrow shoulder of the road to the left, momentarily used the brake after passing the first car and then drove on. The driver in the front car in the left lane estimated the band's car drove past at 60 km/h. He said the band's car drove without using the brake through the two barriers. The car hit the opening bridge which had been raised 1.5 m, then fell 30 m down into the canal. The impact of hitting the bridge may have been enough to kill the car's occupants.

The stepmother of a member of Viola Beach, who were killed in a car crash, has said a year on from their deaths, it feels like they are “just on tour”.
All four members of the band and their manager died in a car crash in Sweden on 13 February 2016.
Guitarist River Reeves’ stepmother Sharon Dunne said she and the other families were still in “shock”.
She was speaking as five buses bearing a picture of the band were launched in their home town of Warrington.
She said the four piece had been “so full of life” and their deaths “so unexpected that it is like they’re just still on tour”.
“It’s just a really weird feeling – you can’t explain it, because you just don’t want it to be true, and [there is] always disbelief.”

Reeves and his bandmates Jack Dakin, Kris Leonard and Tomas Lowe, were in a car driven by band manager Craig Tarry, which crashed into a raised section of a bridge and plummeted into a canal.
Tests showed no alcohol or drugs in the blood of Mr Tarry.
In December, a coroner has said he did not think it would “ever be known” what caused the crash.
Ben Dunne, the guitarist’s father, said he had found strength from the support the families had received.
“When you meet parents who have lost children, there is an immediate connection, but having said that from the wider community, the music community, there’s been so much empathy and love towards us,” he said.
The Arriva buses, one of which has been converted into a mobile recording studio, have been produced in collaboration with the River Reeves Foundation, an organisation set up by Mr Dunne in memory of his son.
Mr Dunne said the foundation, set up to support young people in the performing arts, was founded to see “good to come to other people”.
