not an award material but it's a fun way to kill an hour and a half. I wasn’t expecting it to do much for my emotions, but surprisingly, it kept me entertained. not groundbreaking or anything, but it has that easy-going, feel-good vibe that I don’t mind spending some time with. you know, the kind of movie that’s perfect for when you want to turn your brain off for a while and just enjoy the ride. it’s light, it’s fluffy, and there are moments where I caught myself chuckling; especially at the random little moments of awkwardness. sometimes, I don’t need a film that’s going to make me think too hard. sometimes, I just want something silly with a pinch of romance and a dash of chaos. and that’s what What Happens in Vegas delivers. it's like that one snack I don't know I need, but once I’ve had it, I'm glad that I did. what got me, though, was how the movie actually managed to keep me going despite its predictability. sure, it’s one of those where I know exactly what’s coming, but it still had enough charm to make me stick around for the full ride. there were moments where I felt like it was dragging a little, but then something funny would happen, and I’d get sucked back in.

the comedy is a bit slapstick, but at times it really hit the spot. not to mention the chemistry (or lack thereof) between the main leads - it’s fun watching them argue and slowly warm up to each other, even though I know how it’s going to end. that’s the beauty of rom-coms, right? I can guess the ending from the start, but it’s the journey that counts, and for what it’s worth, the journey wasn’t too bad. one thing I didn’t love was the whole Vegas thing. I mean, it’s kinda fun and all, but I felt like they could’ve done more with the setting. Vegas is like the ultimate backdrop for all kinds of absurdity and drama, but the movie doesn’t really push those limits. it’s like they just used Vegas as an excuse to get these characters into an out-of-control situation, but then kept it all pretty tame. still, it didn’t kill the vibe. it just could’ve been a bit more adventurous, you know? so, would I recommend it? sure, if you're in the mood for a no-brainer rom-com that’s easy to watch and doesn’t require too much emotional investment. if you’re expecting something with depth or edge, then maybe look elsewhere. it’s a decent movie for a chill night in, but don’t expect it to blow your mind.
Tumblr media
final verdict: I have mixed feelings about it

Tom Vaughan, 'Safe'
We hurried back, struggling to comprehend the scale of devastation and what journey’s end would mean – wondering indeed whether we still had a home to go to. Aghast, we scanned fields the dead had sown and reaped forever transformed to lakes, then villages where cars had been tossed aside like toys, and scooped-out bars, churches, schools, where dark lines marked the height reached by the water,…
