The Yuru-Chara Grand Prix 2017 (ゆるキャラグランプリ2017) opened for entries earlier this month. You can browse the current entries here, and the site is updated every day or so.
This year’s schedule:
8th May: Open for entries
24th July: Deadline for entries
1st August: Public voting starts
10th November: Public voting ends
18th-19th November: Run-off voting and awards ceremony in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture
Pictured is a random selection of current entries:
Tsukihashi Wataru (月橋渡) - a bridge boy, based on the Togetsukyō bridge in picturesque Arashiyama, Kyoto
Unari-kun (うなりくん) from Narita, Chiba - at 7 years old he’s a true yuru-chara veteran (that’s pretty old in this business!), and has been in the Grand Prix since the start (2011), but has yet to break the top ten
Potekuma-kun (ポテくまくん) from Chichibu, Saitama - some sort of potato bear (local speciality “miso potato” to be precise), placed 76th last year
Takinomichi Yuzuru (滝ノ道ゆずる) from Minoh, Osaka - another veteran, and at 5th place in 2016 he is the highest-ranking character to re-enter so far
Yairo-chan (やいろちゃん) of Mitani Corporation, a construction company based in Kochi - seems to be getting a lot more exposure these days thanks to neighbour Shinjō-kun’s success last year. 165th in 2016
Hiyawan (ひやわん) from Nabari, Mie Prefecture - a dog with a face like a noh mask, placed 437th last year
See my posts from previous years here.

Movie 21 - Ending Song [English]
Your image overlaps cuddling couple. And the passing wind* makes me think; I remember the warmth of your hand even now… Stop Stopping the time.
Yes, even in the future, I won’t be able to forget your words…
When I want to meet you, I can not, When I want to meet you, I can not, This makes me hurt and lose my nerve.
Togetsukyou**, dyed in the Crimson Red, Asking the sun that guides me, I put my prayers to the flow of the river… I’ve been thinking about you, I’ve been thinking about you, My heart is always next to you…
The ancient scenery didn’t change, Even now it is reflected in my eyes; Seasons change with passing colors, Stock Do you remember this?
Hey, if one day ‘when’ will come, Maybe we will be able to meet again… When I want to meet you, I can not, When I want to meet you, I can not, And I’m yearning for it…
When water is glimmering with Crimson Red*** Connecting my thoughts with you, I put my prayers to the flow of the river… I’ve been thinking about you, I’ve been thinking about you, I’m always searching for you…
When I am with you, any uneasiness Disappears, no matter when it is; If one day 'when’ will come, Will you hold me tenderly in your arms?
Even the Crimson Red Autumn leaves**** Are showing my burning feelings, Swaying on the wind and singing… I’ve been thinking about you, I’ve been thinking about you, Always, always, thinking about you… Always, always, thinking about you…
* ironaki kaze - 'transparent/white wind’, which makes one lonely and nostalgic. ** Togetsukyō Bridge, Kyoto *** reference to Hyakun Isshu 17 **** Momiji
#detective conan#dcmk#movie 21#karakurenai no love letter#crimson love letter#or#the crimson love letter#english translation#this is movie 7 all over again#help#I'll have to bury myself in hyakunin isshu reference sites#i already did#i tried to check every line#but it showed lyrics to this song almost all the time

I am watching the Harvest Moon rising over the Togetsukyō Bridge in Arashiyama-Kyoto City. The harvest moon briefly hid beyond the clouds but then miraculously appeared again. It cast a golden glow on the Hozugawa River.
