My Japan Trip : Todai ji Temple, Nara
The temple itself is already beautiful but the sunset at the time makes the atmosphere feels more "mystical".

The Great South Gate of Tōdai-ji Temple, Nara, Nara Prefecture, Japan. The gate is one of the oldest extant structures in Nara, built at the end of the 12th century - that makes it well over 850 years old. The support pillars, which are whole trees, are over 1.5 meters across and stand on huge rock foundations. Based on my quick observation, there was no attachment between the foundations and the pillars, seemingly held in place by the mass of the building. The two dancing statues on either side of the gate were removed from their niches in the late 1980s for the first time in 800 years for cleaning and conservation.

todaiji temple Famous places in Nara
Todaiji is a Buddhist temple located in Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Japan, and is known for housing the world's largest wooden structure, the Great Buddha, as well as important Buddhist heritage. . Todaiji Temple was founded by Emperor Shomu during the Nara period in the 8th century. One of the purposes of its construction was to pray for the protection of Heiankyo (present-day Kyoto) and the prosperity of Buddhism. Initially it was much larger, but the building was destroyed several times by fire and natural disasters and was rebuilt. The main building of Todaiji Temple is the Great Buddha Hall. This building is the world's largest wooden structure and enshrines the Kongo Rikishi statue, also known as the Great Buddha. The Great Buddha statue is approximately 15 meters high and represents Shakyamuni Buddha. This giant Buddha statue is open to the public and impresses many tourists as a huge sculpture. In addition to the Great Buddha Hall, Todaiji Temple also houses many national treasures and important cultural properties, including Buddhist statues and ancient Buddhist artworks. The temple grounds have beautiful gardens and historic buildings, and are known as a treasure trove of history and art.
