I don't know if what Lilith felt towards Adam was romantic love. Given that they were created to be married, I feel her feelings towards him were more along the lines of an assigned duty. He was her partner, so I do think there was an attempt at friendship at the very least. Their bickering definitely soured any future attempts at getting close.
