Owners of the Tiggo 7 Pro can expect competitive fuel economy figures, allowing them to enjoy longer drives between refuelling stops without sacrificing performance. This blend of efficiency and performance is a testament to Chery's commitment to engineering vehicles that meet the demands of today's discerning drivers.

The chassis and suspension systems are designed to absorb bumps and undulations effectively, ensuring a smooth ride for occupants even on less-than-perfect road surfaces.
The precise steering and well-weighted controls further enhance the driving dynamics, providing confidence-inspiring feedback to the driver. Whether manoeuvring through tight city streets or taking on winding mountain roads, the Tiggo 7 Pro remains stable and predictable, offering a level of driving engagement that is rare in its class.
Chery has also integrated advanced safety systems and driver aids into the Tiggo 7 Pro, enhancing both active and passive safety measures. These technologies not only contribute to overall driving dynamics but also ensure peace of mind for drivers and passengers alike.
Technology and Innovation
In addition to its impressive mechanical attributes, the Tiggo 7 Pro is equipped with a host of technological innovations that elevate the driving experience. Inside the cabin, occupants are treated to a modern infotainment system with intuitive controls and seamless smartphone integration.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing Your First Chery Car
Embarking on the journey of purchasing your first car is an exhilarating milestone. Chery cars, renowned for their affordability and reliability, make an excellent choice for new drivers or those looking for an economical option.
In this guide, we will walk you through the critical factors to consider when choosing your first Chery vehicle.
Whether it's assessing your needs, understanding pricing, or knowing what to look for in a performance, this guide will ensure you make an informed decision.
Get ready to drive off in a car that meets your requirements and excites your driving spirit.
Factors to Consider When Choosing Your First Chery Car
When purchasing your first Chery car, several essential factors need to be considered to ensure you make an informed and satisfactory decision.
Understanding these points will help you narrow down your choices and find a vehicle that fits your needs and lifestyle.
Budget Considerations
Before diving into the myriad of options Chery cars offer, it's crucial to establish a budget. Determine how much you can afford to spend on your new car. Consider not only the purchase price but also other related costs such as insurance, taxes, and maintenance.
Chery cars are typically more affordable than many of their competitors, making them a great option for first-time buyers. However, setting a clear budget help prevent financial strain in the future.
Safety Features to Look for
Safety should be a top priority when choosing any vehicle. Fortunately, Chery cars come equipped with various safety features that enhance passenger protection. Look for models that include airbags, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control.
Newer models may also offer advanced features like rear-view cameras, lane departure warnings, and automatic emergency braking. Ensure the car you choose has a strong safety rating from reputable automotive safety organisations.
Fuel Efficiency and Environmental Impact
Fuel efficiency is another critical factor, especially with rising fuel prices. Efficient cars not only save money on gas but also have a lower environmental impact.
Chery has a range of models known for their fuel efficiency, utilising both conventional and alternative fuel technologies. When selecting your car, consider both its miles per gallon (MPG) ratings and whether it meets emission standards set by environmental agencies.
Opting for a model with good fuel economy contributes to less frequent fill-ups and minimises your carbon footprint.
Researching Chery Car Models
Once you've narrowed down your preferences based on budget, safety, and efficiency, the next step is to delve into specific Chery car models that align with your criteria. Here’s how you can efficiently research and select the best model for your needs.
Popular Chery Car Models for First-Time Buyers
Chery offers a variety of models that are perfect for first-time car buyers. Some popular options include the Chery Tiggo 3, a compact SUV perfect for those looking for a versatile vehicle, and the Chery Arrizo 5, a sleek sedan ideal for daily commutes.
The Tiggo 7 Pro is another excellent option, offering a more spacious and luxurious feel. Each model comes with unique features and pricing, so align your choice with both your budget and lifestyle needs.
Reading Reviews and Comparisons
An effective way to gauge the suitability of different Chery models is to read up on reviews and comparisons from both experts and actual users. Automotive websites, forums, and magazines often provide in-depth insights into the performance, reliability, and overall satisfaction levels associated with various models.
Pay attention to comments on engine performance, comfort, driving experience, and after-sales service. This information is invaluable and can help you avoid models with known issues.
Test Driving Different Models
Finally, nothing beats firsthand experience. Once you've done your homework and narrowed your choices down based on reviews and specifications, schedule test drives for your top picks. Test driving different Chery models can significantly influence your decision.
It allows you to feel the car's handling, responsiveness, and comfort level. Make sure to test different aspects like braking, turning, and the ease of use of the dashboard controls. Consider how well each model meets your needs during the test drive, and use this experience to make your final decision.
Choosing your first Chery car involves thoughtful consideration of many factors. By setting a budget, prioritising safety, focusing on fuel efficiency, thoroughly researching models, reading reviews, and conducting test drives, you can make a well-informed and satisfying purchase.
Understanding Chery Car Financing Options
Choosing the right financing option can significantly impact the overall cost and experience of owning a Chery car. Understanding different financing pathways not only helps manage your budget but also aligns with your long-term financial goals.
Financing
Financing a Chery car includes several options, such as traditional car loans, leasing, or even dealership financing programs. Each option carries its own set of pros and cons. Traditional loans, typically sourced from banks or credit unions, usually offer competitive interest rates and are straightforward in terms of agreement terms.
Leasing, on the other hand, can be appealing if you desire lower monthly payments and like the idea of changing cars every few years.
Dealership financing can be convenient, often coming with promotions or incentives, but it's essential to compare these offers with other financial institutions to ensure you're getting the best deal.
Exploring Loan Terms and Interest Rates
The loan terms and the interest rate are the two pivotal components that will determine your total expenditure over time.
Terms can range widely from 24 to 72 months or even longer. While longer terms may reduce your monthly payment, they typically increase the total amount of interest you pay. Interest rates can be influenced by your credit score, the loan duration, and the economic environment.
It’s advisable to shop around and negotiate to find the lowest possible interest rates. Using online calculators can also help you envisage the long-term financial commitments you are considering.
Negotiating for the Best Deal
Negotiation is key in obtaining favourable terms on any car financing. It involves more than just haggling over price. Ensuring a good deal also means negotiating the terms of payment, interest rates, and other fees.
Before stepping into a dealership, research the average cost of the Chery model you're interested in and check other dealerships for price comparisons. Armed with this information, you can confidently discuss not only the sticker price but also the finer points of the financing terms.
Maintaining Your Chery Car
Maintaining your Chery cars is crucial not only to ensure their longevity but also to uphold their performance and safety features. Regular maintenance can prevent expensive repairs and maintain the car’s resale value.
Regular Maintenance Schedule
Keeping up with the recommended maintenance schedule is essential. For most Chery models, the owner’s manual provides a detailed maintenance schedule that includes regular inspections and services such as oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake inspections.
Sticking to this schedule helps in the early detection of potential issues that could escalate into costly repairs. Additionally, maintaining a record of all services performed can be beneficial, particularly when it comes to resale or warranty claims.
Finding a Reliable Mechanic
Finding a trustworthy mechanic is meaningful for the long-term health of your vehicle. Seek recommendations from friends, family, or reputable automotive sites. It’s vital to choose a mechanic who is experienced with Chery cars or at least with similar models.
A reliable mechanic should provide clear explanations of problems, transparent pricing, and realistic timelines for work completion.
Understanding Warranties and Insurance Options
Understanding the warranties that come with your Chery car is crucial, as they can provide peace of mind by covering significant repair costs.
Typically, these warranties cover everything from the engine and transmission to smaller components for a specified period. Be sure to understand what is included in your warranty and for how long.
Additionally, choosing the right car insurance is vital. The insurance should cover potential damages to your car and liabilities to others. Compare different insurance providers to find coverage that suits your needs at a competitive rate, considering factors such as deductible amounts and coverage limits.
By thoroughly navigating these crucial aspects—financing options, maintenance practices, and understanding warranties and insurance—you can enjoy a smooth and rewarding experience with your first Chery car.
Conclusion
Choosing your first Chery car is an exciting step towards mobility and independence. By considering your needs, setting a budget, and doing thorough research, you can select a model that will serve you well for many years.
Remember to take test drives and pay close attention to details like warranty and after-sales services.
A Chery car can offer a blend of affordability, reliability, and features that are perfect for the first-time car buyer. So why wait? Explore Chery cars today and enjoy the journey!

Chery SA Celebrates 20,000 Cars Sold
Chery SA is celebrating a milestone of 20,000 unit sales since its return to this market 18 months ago. The sales success follows the breakthrough of the Chinese brand into the current top 10 best-selling vehicle brands within SA.
The first Chery models were initially imported to SA in 2008 by the Imperial Group (now Motus) before exiting the market in 2018 due to poor sales. The brand relaunched as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chinese parent company in late 2021, arriving with the entry-level Tiggo 4 Pro crossover SUV. The company followed up with the Tiggo 7 Pro and the flagship Tiggo 8 Pro, later the Tiggo 8 Pro MAX.
Part of Chery's aggressive marketing includes extended service and maintenance plans and a standard 1 million-kilometre/10-year engine warranty with two elements: a standard five-year/150,000km warranty and a free extension for another five years with an additional 850,000km engine warranty provided that the vehicle is still with the original owner. Obviously, the Chery Tiggo 4 price has helped a lot too.
The newest addition to the value-added services launched this week is the Chery Extender offer. It allows new and existing owners of Chery Tiggo Pro models to extend their service plan, convert their service plan into a full maintenance plan or extend their mechanical warranty.
The My Chery Cares feature which has been available to customers includes add-on insurance products and a take-me-home concierge service, while a larger parts distribution warehouse has been opened in Boksburg, Gauteng.

Chery’s 2.0 TDGI Tiggo 8 Pro MAX Flagship SUV
The Tiggo nameplate cemented the Chery firm as a force to be reckoned with in the local SUV market. Broadening and bolstering the offering of its Tiggo 8 nameplate is the rowdier Tiggo 8 Pro MAX off-shoot.
Following a warm reception of the Tiggo lineup, Chery has expanded the Tiggo stables workhorses. “The Tiggo 8 Pro has been one of Chery’s top-selling vehicles across the world. It has recently surpassed 500 000 sales to become the first Chinese medium-sized SUV and first 7-seater SUV to hit this milestone.” — Chery South Africa, Deputy Executive General Manager Tony Liu
The Chery Tiggo 8 2023, the MAX, shares the skeleton of the base Tiggo 8 Pro, except with a beefier engine, a litany of creature comforts and safety innovations — and an inflated price tag. The most notable differentiating feature of the Tiggo 8 Pro MAX is its powerplant. Dropping the base model 1,6-litre four-cylinder in exchange for Chery’s 2,0-litre TDGI engine affording the Tiggo 8 Pro MAX a maximum output of 187 kW @ 5 500 rpm and 390 Nm available from 2 000 rpm to 4 000rpm. For respective, the Tiggo 8 Pro 1,6 TDGI Executive has an output of 145 kW and 290 N.m.
To compliment a more powerful engine, Chery has added to the 2023 range of Tiggo 8 Pro Executive’s luxury/comfort and safety offerings. Aside from the Executive’s features, the athletic Tiggo sibling is equipped with privacy glass in the rear passenger compartment, an upgraded windscreen, and improved soft-dampening components. Chery promises that Future Executive models will be outfitted with privacy glass as standard. The Tiggo 8 Pro MAX strays away from the Executive’s tan interior and offers a black leather interior. The 8 Pro MAX, sees the inclusion of a wider variety of driver assistance systems.
The MY2023 Tiggo 8 Pro MAX is accompanied by a 7-year/90 000 km service plan and a 10-year/1 000 000 km warranty.

All About The Chinese Vehicle Brands In SA
In total, five Chinese marques call South Africa home, albeit with varying degrees of success.
The belief that came to light two decades ago has officially come to fruition; Chinese vehicles are here and many are already driving them or considering them when search for cars for sale from Cape Town to Gauteng.
Although not yet implacable to every South African, the rate of development by automakers from the People’s Republic has been such that memories of their initial arrival on local soil have become a distant memory.
Put simply, Chinese cars are fast winning the minds and crucially, wallets of buyers for being exceptionally well-priced and for having features you wouldn’t normally expect at the sticker price asked.
The outcome, as evidenced by the February National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) sales is obvious, with Great Wall Motors (GWM)’s Haval division placing ahead of favourites such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, and Mazda, while resurgent marque, Chery, celebrated sales of 10 000 units in February, after returning to South Africa two years ago.
At present, five Chinese automakers have a presence in South Africa, with an indirect sixth being Malaysian brand Proton, whose X50 and X70 SUVs are spun-off models derived from Chinese parent company Geely.
The focus though is on the brands that originate from China and as such, The Citizen has provided a short history of each, together with their respective products and pricing.
BAIC
One of China’s oldest automakers, BAIC, or Beijing Automotive Industrial Corporation, has been operating since 1958, with perhaps one of its most recognisable vehicles being the Beijing Jeep (BJ) that continues to be produced today after 58 years.
Despite an early alliance with the long-defunct American Motor Corporation (AMC) to sell Jeeps in China going astray in the late 1980s, the brand, today, acts as a parent for the Foton marque, in addition to having joint ventures with Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz under the Beijing-Hyundai and Beijing-Benz banners.
More rocky as has been BAIC’s presence in South Africa though that started with the D20 hatch and sedan launched and sold by stealth, followed by the crossover-inspired X25 that sold in slightly better numbers.
Even more bizarre was the opening of a new plant in the Coega IDZ in Port Elizabeth in 2018, now Gqeberha, which has seemingly been a white elephant despite the brand stating it obvious.
Matters have seemingly been improving though as last year, it unveiled the X55 which falls under the premium Beijing brand, while the BJ range, minus the ‘J’, consists of the B40 Plus and soon, the B80.
Chery
Founded in 1997 and, therefore, one of China’s newest automakers, Chery’s first attempt came after by of a licensing agreement with Volkswagen to sell the first generation Seat Toledo in China under the A11 and Windcloud names.
Since then, it has become one of the biggest marques in China in addition to being one of the first Chinese brands to set up shop in South America and certain African markets.
In South Africa, Chery’s initial arrival sparked less than favourable comments for its copies of the Daewoo Matiz and Toyota RAV4 which were the QQ3 and RAV4. Later models, the J1 and J5, also failed to gain a foothold and by 2018, it departed the local market after what had been nine years.
Since returning in 2021, with a range of radically different SUVs, the Tiggo 4 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Pro, the brand’s popularity has skyrocketed to the point where everything that happened in the past no longer has any recollection.
Great Wall Motors (GWM)
Perseverance has been the key for GWM as is today, it remains the only Chinese automaker to have remained in South Africa without leaving or reinventing itself since the influx began two decades ago.
A powerhouse not only in China but also Australia, South America, and even parts of Europe, the now almost four-decade-old marque has come a long way since the early days of the Hover SUV and the Nissan Hardbody faced Isuzu copy-cat bakkies.
Celebrating 16 years in South Africa this year, GWM very much now rates as a bakkie nameplate as its premium division, Haval, has taken over the SUV and crossover mantle.
As such, the GWM name features only the Steed and P-Series bakkies, both strong sellers with the latter having been a particular success since its debut in South Africa two years ago.
Haval
Officially launched 10 years ago this month, Haval entered South Africa in 2018 as GWM’s version of what Lexus is to Toyota.
Stemming from earlier models such as the H2 and H6 that become hugely successful, the introduction of Jolion in 2021 catapulted Haval to new highs with sales exceeding expectations and often bridging 1 000 units a month.
JAC
Initially called Hefei before having its name changed in 1997 after what had been 33 years, JAC Motors, short for Jianghuai Automobile Company, has forged its success by way of joint ventures with Volkswagen, Hyundai, and DR Automotive that sells its vehicles with DR badging in Italy.
Although renowned for the infamous Sehol brand produced in conjunction with Seat and Volkswagen, the marque is perhaps better known for its commercial vehicles ranging from bakkies to light-duty trucks often powered by engines sourced from Isuzu.
This is the case in South Africa where, since 2017, JAC has been selling the T-Series bakkie range set to be supplemented by the T9 later this year, and the X-Series line-up of small trucks.
Despite being lesser known than BAIC, Chery, GWM, or Haval, JAC has made steady progress, with the unveiling of the T9 tipped to be a watershed moment for the brand.

6 Automakers From China and Elsewhere That Surprised in Frankfurt
Auto shows are all struggling to reinvent themselves as more and more brands are choosing to sit them out. There were many no-show brands at this year’s Frankfurt show. Some shows are mounting concurrent “mobility” conferences, but Frankfurt seems to have added a supplier/engineering event such as North America’s SAE World Congress. Of course, prime show floor space vacated by Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Nissan, Infiniti, Peugeot, and DS managed to get snapped up by “young Asian brands” with unfamiliar names such as WEY, Thunder Power, Aspark, and a few more-established names. We’ve got highlights. Borgward Isabella Concept This storied and supposedly still well-known and respected German brand has been revived by a team of Chinese investors. A plant is already up and running in China producing SUVs. The plan is to bring them to Europe next year and to eventually open a plant near Bremen, Germany, to build vehicles for European consumption. This fetching concept named for the fetching coupe produced in the brand’s heyday was penned by a new design team based in Stuttgart with designers plucked from Mini (Anders Warming) and Kia (David Genot). The Isabella borrows very few design cues directly from the vintage car, but it attempts to deliver what that car represented in its day—a beautiful accessible dream car. The four-door coupe profile features an exceptionally aerodynamic profile (air flows behind the C-pillars), and its interior is highly imaginative. Features include a “coffee table” lower shelf under a “surfboard” covered in silver mesh, bisected by a black “scarf,” which contains most of the controls for the large curved screen just below the windshield and also for a hologram display. These folks are dreaming big! Borgward BX5, BX7, and BXi7 Borgward is not part of a joint venture with any Chinese brands (there is a relationship with truck manufacturer Foton Motor Group), but boy, their styling department seems to be borrowing pretty heavily from Shanghai GM/SAIC’s work with Buick. The smaller BX5 and larger BX7 both seem to echo the waterfall grille and rear-quarter-panel details of the Buick. The BXi7 is an all-electric version of the BX7. The mainstream utes are on sale in China now, and sales in Europe are expected to start next year. Aspark Owl Japanese EV upstart Aspark unveiled this low-slung and fairly fetching supercar that’s about the size of a Ford GT, claiming some pretty amazing numbers for it: 0-62 mph in 2.0 seconds. Yikes. Naturally it’s routing its power to all four wheels, but even with only 1,900 or so pounds to tug around, that’s asking a lot of the tires’ grip. It’s also impressive given the modest output claims of 429 hp and 563 lb-ft of torque. The range is claimed to be about 90 miles, and the top speed is 174 mph. We’d caution against holding your breath for this one, but if it can put down numbers like those, there will be a lot less laughing at the dorky name. Thunder Power Speaking of names that might not have been thoroughly focus grouped in English-speaking countries, Hong Kong-based Thunder Power is also planning to get into the EV business. Unlike Aspark and a few American EV startups we can think of, Thunder Power has a factory under construction in Guangzhou, China, that will reportedly be capable of producing 100,000 EVs per year. An R&D center will be located near Barcelona, Spain, and the company is planning to build an assembly plant there, too, for satisfying European demand. This is Thunder Power’s second appearance at the Frankfurt show. Last time it showed a concept of the sedan that appears this year in development-prototype camo. The focal point of this year’s display is a new SUV concept that was presented along with a naked aluminum chassis buck. The SUV points in the general design direction of a production variant that is sure to lose the pillarless coach door arrangement and probably the cross-car infotainment screen. The sedan is expected to go on sale next year, with the SUV following a year later. Pricing for the sedan has been reported starting in the mid-50s stretching to 100,000 euros—so, Tesla territory. The Milanese design work might not strike all eyes as more beautiful than a Tesla. WEY China’s Great Wall introduced the premium SUV sub-brand WEY this past April and has opened a technical office in Germany. For its Frankfurt debut, it designed an off-road coupe concept called the XEV, which, as the name suggests, is electrically powered. The concept manages to look pretty good without looking like anybody else’s SUV—a rare combination in the still fairly nascent Chinese auto industry. WEY aims to begin selling its SUVs in Europe in 2019, most likely opening with the Hi4-hybrid powered VV5, which definitely has a vaguely familiar look to it. The crossover will be available in sporty S and Hi4 powertrain variants. The latter consists of a 2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinder Great Wall engine fitted with a belt-alternator-starter good for 13 hp, spinning the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Out back there’s a 174-hp electric motor. The hybrid battery stores just 1.166 kW-hr of electricity. Chery The Chinese invasion of Europe really gets rolling in 2019 when Chery expects to bring its globally homologated Exeed TX SUV model here (the Tiggo 5X and Tiggo 7 sharing the floor space do not meet European standards). Hatchbacks and wagons will follow in the years to come, with all new vehicles being designed (for now in Shanghai under the direction of Canadian James Hope, who was recently hired away of GM Europe) to meet European safety and regulatory standards. To rev up Frankfurt showgoers, Chery brought along its low-slung, muscular Tiggo Coupe crossover concept. Planned for autonomous drive, like nearly every new show car, this one aims to lure in millenials with a steering wheel that folds and becomes a game controller during autopilot mode. A vibrating seat aims to provide a vivid 4-D gaming experience. Chery plans to heavily target young people who are less brand conscious. Geely Chinese megabrand Geely, owner of Volvo, purchased the London Taxi Company from receivers in 2013, and the resulting sub-brand LEVC is now rolling out its next-gen “London Cab” and hoping to extend sales throughout Europe (hence the presentation of the TX eCity cab in German taxi beige). They are being built near Coventry in the first new assembly plant to be built in England in 10 years. The range-extended electric vehicle can travel 80 miles on an electric charge, after which a Volvo 1.5-liter I-3 engine kicks in and extends the range to 400 miles. The rear compartment is taller and roomier than the current black cab, with seating for six (three in rear-facing jump seats). Wi-Fi connectivity and both USB and 12-volt charging sources are provided for passengers, and there’s a panoramic sunroof. Deliveries begin in October at a price of 55,000 British pounds ($72,600). The vehicle is not homologated for U.S. sale. The post 6 Automakers From China and Elsewhere That Surprised in Frankfurt appeared first on Motor Trend.

Crossover Qoros Model Young — the end of the Chinese dream?
Opened at the end of this week’s auto show in Chengdu, China will present a new crossover Qoros Model Young. An event: since 2011 is only the third completely new model of joint venture companies Shery and Kenon (a unit of holding company Israel Corporation). But why Qoros Model Young so suspiciously similar to the Chery Tiggo SUV 7? Because the brand Qoros was created in order to make the original machine, the appropriate design, equipment and security European level. To this end, the SP was even recruited into their ranks former Mini designer Gert Hildebrand and a cohort of other foreign experts.
It turns out that the Young Model is not the name of a specific model, and the new sub-brand, which will be sold turned model Chery. As the name implies, they are focused on young consumers — with appropriate revision of the pricing policy.
Apparently, the original cars Qoros we will not see. In Europe it has suffered a fiasco: the only dealer in Bratislava was able to realize in 2013 only 51 car, then from the Old world had ignominiously to retire. In the domestic market as well as more than modest: 24 thousand vehicles sold last year, by local standards, a failure. The company management is thinking about the start of sales in South America. But this requires new models and their development has neither the means nor staff: for information Top Auto Blog, aliens EN masse, leaving the firm Qoros because of lack of money.
The latter, perhaps, attempt to show the bright future of the brand was taken this spring at the Shanghai motor show: the company revealed a concept electric sports car Qoros Model K-EV, using technology supercars Koenigsegg. However, the issue of such car is not planned instead for next winter in what’s the other electrical Qoros, unified with one of the models Chery. It is possible that he will also be offered under the sub-brand Young.
Well, the current crossover Qoros Model Young — do badge-engineering Chery Tiggo 7: external differences boil down to different bumpers, a list of names and decor. According to preliminary information, the technical differences are not expected: the car will be equipped with 1.5 petrol turboservice issuing 152 HP when paired with a six-speed “mechanics” and Aisin 147 HP when using a double clutch six-speed “robot” Getrag.
Until the end of the year under the brand name Qoros light have to see another SUV and the above-mentioned electric vehicle. Apparently, if the Chinese market will not accept these models, the fate of Chinese-Israeli joint venture is a foregone conclusion.
