Updated Post. Imma be real for a sec, some of the new information that was brought to my attention is amazing and, in fact, very helpful, so I'm making an updated post to this one here.
A Beginners Guide to Crystals.
How to spot fakes (typically glass) and dyed crystals, Crystal Shapes, and Crystal Color Associations are the topics in this post.
How to spot glass, resin, and other types of fake crystals. (You can still 100% use them in witchcraft, but if you want genuine crystals, then this guide may help you do just that!)
If you think that your crystals are fake, here are some things you can look and do to tell.
Rubbing your crystal with a finger should reveal tiny pores on the surface of the crystal. If it does not have any pores and is instead completely smooth, then it's possible that it's glass or resin.
While some crystals can have naturally formed air bubbles in them, it is rare and may just be glass that was shaped into the crystal.
You can easily search up "fake crystal name" vs. "real crystal name" and compare the two pictures.
You can also look up "dyed crystals" vs. "undyed crystals" to see what a natural coloring of crystals should look like.
If you're worried that your turquoise is fake, then you can take the tip of a hot pin and press it into the crystal, if it burns then it's real, however if it starts to melt its a fake.
Opalite and Goldstone are glass crystals, man made.
9/10 times if your Crystal looks very brightly colored it could have been dyed.
I'll put in some pictures of glass/resin crystals next to the real crystals to show the difference.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natural coloring of crystals occurs because of the different metals and other minerals that are absorbed during the creation of the crystal. Quartz is just silica and oxygen, so it's appears colorless, but when iron is absorbed, it creates purple or yellow, depending on how oxidized the iron was in the creation of the crystal.
Tumblr media
Natural citrine does form, but it's not going to look burned or splochty.
Splotchy color in crystals usually means that it's been dyed, as you can see in the first two images. Dyed crystals also very obviously look dyed because of how brightly they are colored.
Tumblr media
Even in Malachite, the green in the fake malachite is brighter than the genuine malachite. You can also look at the unnatural banding on the fake and compare it to real malachite.
Tumblr media
Real opal is not see-through like Opalite is. Real opal is more clouded with spots of color, while opalite will have streaks of color or look like the see-through ones above.
Tumblr media
Real turquoise is going to have brown or black webbings and cracks or chips, while dyed howlite is going to be smooth with brown or black inclusions. You can take a swab of acetone and rub it across the crystal to see if any coloring comes off. If the color does come off or the crystal looks lighter in the spot, then it's more than likely dyed howlite. You can also do that hot pin trick mentioned above.
The picture on the left is dyed howlite, while on the right is the natural turquoise. You can see that the natural crystal has deep webbing into the stone, very obvious cracks while the holite doesn't have cracks, only webbing that looks like it but it's going to be smooth along those lines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crystal Shapes in witchcraft
Double pointed- absorbs and emits energy.
Cluster- Radiates energy.
One point- concentrates and directs energy.
Raw- Strong open energy.
If the crystal is more round then the energy is going to be calmer
If the crystal has multiple points, then the energy is directed off of each point.
The size of the crystal doesn't dictate the amount of energy it gives off.
Different crystals have different energies that they give off. The ones most commonly used in witchcraft and their properties are listed below.
Clear quartz- Clarity
Amethyst- Grounding
Citrine- Happiness
Rose quartz- love
Black Tourmaline- Protection
Obsidian- also protection
Aventurine- luck
Tigers eye- money
Labradorite- aura healing and protection
There are many other crystals that give off similar energies that can be used. As stated, these are just some of the more commonly seen ones.
Now, different crystals can give off different energies depending on the person using them. Some people may see use amethyst as protection rather than obsidian or black tourmaline. Some may use aventurine for money spells over tigers eye. That's 100% okay.
Crystal Color Associations.
Color associations can depend on how the witch feels about a color. This is the general association plus how I use colors in my path.
Red- Anger/passion
Orange- Courage (or in my case repulsion)
Yellow- Happiness
Green- Luck and money
Blue- Calming or sadness (depending on the mood)
Purple- Spirituality
Brown- grounding
Pink- self love
Grey- solemn, seriousness.
With some crystals, the color is also associated with the things listed above. However, again, not all witches will use the color associations of crystals this way, and that's 100% okay. Each witch has a different path and different associations when it comes to the tools they use in their path.
If you're interested in learning about what energies different crystals give off, often just googling "what is crystal name used for in healing" and you will receive an answer.
Though with any type of research, please look at 3-5 other sources that say the same or similar thing. Though it may take more digging to come to a conclusion.
Thank you for reading the updated post, and let me know if I missed anything or if you'd like to add anything. A big thanks to everyone who has corrected the previous post on this subject and any posts that may have contained misinformation in them.

Ball/Sphere: Crystal that is shaped into a ball from a larger piece of crystal…quartz crystals rarely occurs naturally as a sphere. The Sphere is associated with Harmony, scrying, even energy all around.
Crystal Pyramid: Manifestation, intently focused energy. prosperity.
A crystal shaped like a pyramid, it has four equal triangular sides that meet to a point with a flat square base. It’s effective for amplifying energy. *Egyptian used the pyramids to send the pharaoh's soul straight to the gods. Crystal Generators and Obelisks are 2 shapes that are often confused with one another, just count the number of sides. A generator has six equal sides and an Obelisk has four. Generators, Obelisks and Pyramids are great shapes to direct/amplify energy. Better used in crystal grids, as it will amplify/boost energy.
Crystal Wands: Healing and rituals, moving/directing energy.
Crystal wands have many uses, they can be used for massage therapy (eg a massage wand), acupressure and reflexology. They can also be used to direct energy in a certain direction, draw negative energy away from you and to activate crystal grids. Crystal wands can be used for chakra healing.
Crystal Eggs: Balance, Fertility, healing
The pointed end of an egg shaped crystal is often used by practitioners of acupressure, reflexology and massage. Similar to spheres, crystal eggs are a great shape to hold whilst meditating. Crystal eggs represent fertility, birth and new beginnings.
Cluster: A group of crystals growing together having many points and sharing the same base clusters rapidly radiate energy in all directions. The cluster radiates energy, meditation and unity.
Crystal Cube: consolidates energy, grounding and meditation, connects to the energy of the earth.
Tumbled: Gentle, constant energyRaw: Strong, Sporadic, pure energy.Double Terminated/Twin: Receives and emits energy transmits informationPalm: Grounding, healing, “Worry stone.”
Isis: Feminine energy, healing emotional, hurt and distress.Geode: Amplifies, conserves and releases energy, internal healing.
Crystal Heart: Sends love across time and space.Crystal Points, Generators and Obelisks: Energy amplifier, six facets
There are 219 Crystals [And I do not have the time or energy to go over ALL of them when we Wiccans can’t use/afford that many, and so we’ll only cover the basics/most used Crystals.
So other than Shapes that signify the ‘power’ of the crystal, what about a specific use? So here is a list of most common crystals that I have seen, that was recommended by other witches or popped up in my readings.

Do you know any healing spells? If they exist. My friend is sick and I can’t get to them to help. My sister is a witch and she’s looking for spells that could help
First of all I am so sorry I'm just now seeing and answering.
I did not have any at the ready but I did some research (as is the foundation of the craft) and found some information to aid in the creation of a personalized healing spell for your friend. Making it personalized could help make the spell more effective.
Healing Herbs, Plants, and Spices (and what they heal)
Chickweed - used for blood disorders, bowel and intestinal issues, asthma, lung disease, arthritis, eczema, etc
Aloe Vera - topically used to treat burns and rashes, can be ingested (please make sure you prepare it properly) to sooth sore throats, colds, and as a natural laxative.
Calendula - anti inflammatory, used as an ointment or cream for burns and rashes
Ashwagandha - a natural anti inflammatory
Black Cohosh - helps ease menstrual/menopausal and arthritic pain
Catnip - soothes an upset stomach
Cranberry - helps with intestinal issues and might help with chronic pain
Echinacea - antiviral and immuno support
Elderberry - antiviral, immumo support, good for colds and fevers
Garlic - antimicrobial, regular usage can lower blood pressure, combats colds and fevers
Ginger - antinausea, vomiting, treats cold and flu symptoms
Ginseng - helps with exhaustion and fatigue, can also be used to reduce the frequency and severity of colds (I'd use this for healing burnout)
Hibiscus - good blood pressure, heart and respiratory health,
Thyme - fights bacterial and fungal infections, and an antioxidant
Arnica - pain relief, can be used topically or ingested however be very careful using it internally as it can be toxic if used incorrectly, I recommend topically or in a spell jar
Obviously this is not a completed list, just a list of the first few I found or the ones that I have used. Feel free to do your own research, look for holistic or old remedies for whatever is ailing your friend and go from there.
Healing Crystals (and their properties)
Jasper - helps in times of stress
Obsidian - protection
Amethyst - general healing, headaches, stress
Bloodstone - healing blood related issues
Rose Quartz - provides comfort and peace during stress
Citrine - concentration, optimism
Turquoise - good luck, balanced emotions
Tigers Eye - protects against negativity
Moonstone - encourages growth and strength
Sapphire - attracts happiness and peace
Ruby - restores vitality and energy levels
Opalite - magnify your power
The color green is associated with health and healing.
My thoughts:
Now for things like this, I'd go for a Spell Jar.
Get a jar, any size as long as it will fit all of your materials.
A candle (green or white).
Based on the specifics of how your friend is sick, pick herbs, spices, plants, and crystals that you think would best help.
A piece of paper.
An incantation. (Can be as simple as "powers that be, please help to heal [name] or as complicated as you want)
Your preferred method of cleansing.
Make sure absolutely everything, including your space, has been cleansed and charged with the intent to heal.
Optional: carve or write your friend's name and sigil for good health on the candle
Light the candle.
Use the paper to right your friends name (full or first and last) (optional: draw a health sigil underneath their name), roll it up, stick it in the jar.
Next add a pinch of the gathered herbs and spices, and crystals, to the jar. As you do this, recite the incantation.
Close the jar tight, use the wax from the candle to seal it, let the candle burn through, or you can snuff it to reuse it later (if you plan to reuse it, don't label it).
Place the jar in either sunlight all day or moonlight (preferably full but any stage would work) all night (go off whichever you or your friend feel more connected to) to charge it and really blend the energies. Say the incantation when you place it in the light.
Put the jar in a dark, dry, cleansed place. Say the incantation once more.
Optional: take the jar out daily or nightly and sit it in the sun/moonlight, recite the incantation, put it back. Can be done as often as you feel the need.
You could also do a witch's ladder
Use a green string (green is associated with health and healing), cleanse it, set your intention, do the ladder like normal (you can find instructions in many places) and ta da. This can also be placed in the jar, or on an alter, or in a cool, dry, cleansed space.
Best of luck.

Harnessing Wisdom and Insight: The Art of Tiger Eye Stone Dowsing
Tumblr media
At Go Life Shopping, we delve into the mystical realm of divination with our Tiger Eye Stone Dowsing tools. Embodying the ancient practice of dowsing, these pendulums crafted from genuine Tiger Eye stone are revered for their ability to unlock hidden truths, enhance intuition, and provide spiritual guidance.
Understanding Tiger Eye Stone
Tiger Eye is a captivating gemstone known for its unique chatoyancy—a shimmering effect that resembles the eye of a tiger. This stone resonates with the solar plexus chakra, promoting personal power, confidence, and clear decision-making. In dowsing, Tiger Eye is chosen not only for its beauty but also for its metaphysical properties that amplify one's connection to the higher realms.
The Art of Dowsing
Dowsing is an ancient practice used to seek answers, locate objects, or tap into spiritual energies through the use of a pendulum or rod. It operates on the principle of accessing the subconscious mind and the subtle energies of the universe. Practitioners often use dowsing for a variety of purposes, including:
Seeking Answers: Dowsing can help clarify decisions, uncover hidden information, or validate intuition on matters ranging from personal dilemmas to professional choices.
Energy Healing: Some practitioners use dowsing to detect and balance energy fields within the body or environment, promoting physical and emotional well-being.
Spiritual Guidance: Dowsing with Tiger Eye Stone pendulums can facilitate communication with spiritual guides, angels, or higher consciousness, offering profound insights and guidance.
Using Tiger Eye Stone Dowsing Tools
Using a Tiger Eye Stone Dowsing tool is a straightforward yet deeply personal practice:
Clearing and Charging: Before use, cleanse your Tiger Eye pendulum by holding it under running water or placing it in sunlight or moonlight to clear any lingering energies. This process prepares the pendulum to attune to your intentions.
Setting Intentions: Hold your Tiger Eye pendulum in your dominant hand and establish a clear intention or question. This could be related to a specific issue you seek guidance on or a decision you need to make.
Dowsing Technique: Allow the pendulum to swing freely and observe its movement. Typically, a clockwise or counterclockwise motion indicates a positive or affirmative response, while back-and-forth or side-to-side movements may indicate a negative or neutral response. Practice and intuition play significant roles in interpreting these movements accurately.
Interpreting Results: Trust your intuition and the guidance received through the pendulum's movements. Over time, you'll develop a deeper connection to your pendulum and refine your dowsing skills.
Benefits of Tiger Eye Stone Dowsing
Working with a Tiger Eye Stone Dowsing tool offers numerous benefits:
Enhanced Intuition: Tiger Eye stimulates the third eye and solar plexus chakras, heightening intuitive abilities and clarity of perception.
Clarity and Insight: Dowsing with Tiger Eye can provide clarity on complex issues, offering insights that may not be immediately apparent through conventional means.
Personal Empowerment: By trusting your pendulum and the guidance it provides, you cultivate a sense of empowerment and confidence in your decision-making process.

Obsidian 🖤
believed to be the stone of clarity with the ability to release emotional, physical, and spiritual blockages, drawing out stress and tension. Obsidian is also known for clearing ancient traumas, detoxification, and encouraging personal growth. Obsidian is a highly-regarded protective stone, known for its ability to block, absorb, and transform negative energy.
How to cleanse these lovely Crystals <3
Obsidian prefers the moon 🌙
The moon is a powerful symbol of cleansing and purification.
To cleanse with moonlight:
• Find out the date of the next full moon.
• On the night of the full moon, expose your crystal to the moonlight for at least an hour.
• Collect obsidian before sunrise.
OR MEDITATION
Meditation can help eliminate the negative energies stored on your stone and raise its vibration. To cleanse with meditation:
• Sit in a quiet place with your crystal in front of you.
• Start by visualizing white light surrounding it.
• Imagine the light flushing out negative energies from the crystal.
• Perform this until you feel that the crystal's energy has shifted.
Rose Quartz 🌹 Place the crystal in distilled salt water for 6 to 8 hour 💕 its pretty simple tbhh Or you can go ahead and place your crystals in moon water for around an hour, or pour the moon water over because Rose Quartz likes the moon too
🐊 Crocodile Japser charges by meditation. 🧘‍♀️ since it is used while doing Chakras. OR you can bury it under the soil NATURAL SOIL So no fertilizer!🌎
Amethyst 🪻 our Amethyst just loves getting put under running water 💧 they prefer natural water so to find a river and put the Amethyst into the water would definitely charge it and cleanse it
OR natural light so to put the Amethyst out into the sunlight and moonlight so the time between 6 and 11 so the crystal can charge through sunlight and the moonlight. Sage also helps!

Witchy Herbs: Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
This is also called devil's nettle, milfoil, seven years love, or bloodwort. It has feminine energies, connects with the element of water, and is ruled in the planet Venus. It honors Aphrodite, Hermes, and the Horned God. Zodiac sign; Aries. Crystals; Clear quartz, tigers eye, lapis lazuli.
It is a common herb you can find in most gardens. Its foliage has a silvery quality that is rather attractive. The stem and leaves of this plant are usually harvested in the latter part of summer and used in poultices and ointments to help staunch blood flow from wounds.
Hence for its Latin namesake. Achillea millefolium. According to the Greek myth, Yarrow gave the hero, Achilles, its protective powers to make him invincible wherever the herbal bath had penetrated his skin, and in turn, Achilles healed his wounded soldiers with Yarrow.
Growing yarrow in your witchy garden is always an excellent idea. Not only will you attract bees and have a steady supply of medicine, its very presence helps out all the other herbs around it. It increases the other herbs’ essential oil content as well as their growth and health in general.
Fights infections, break fevers, eases common cold symptoms, aids digestion, and easing painful menstruation or used in sitz baths for post labor. Recent studies are looking into how Yarrow can help with depression and anxiety as a tincture.
You can use this for spells involving love, healing, protection, courage, exorcism, and psychic powers.
Fun Folk Fact - When used in love spells, it is said that it will only empower that love for 7 years, the rest will be up to the couple to make it or break it.
• It is an attracting herb. If kept near, it will attract love, friends, people from the past, or to gain attention. If you think of them, they will come. • You can make a tea with this herb to enhance your psychic abilities and enjoy during divination. • Growing it near will also expel evil from any place, person, or thing. • Use yarrow to set magical boundaries. • Place yarrow over doorways to protect from negative energies. For powerful protection, pick yarrow flowers and charge them in the sun. Once charged, take the flowers and sprinkle them outside all the way around your home. This will keep any negative influences and energies away from your home. • Wash down a room or Ouija board with yarrow to attract friendly spirits. • Wash crystals and crystal balls with a yarrow rinse to bring about clarity of vision. • Yarrow has weak romantic properties making it the perfect courting ingredient when you just want to get to know someone before getting serious.
