My brain constantly has ten tabs open, and the first tab is always buffering.

I'm not sure how to explain but I'm going to anyways.
Reading fanfiction is like walking through a hall. But before you get to that hall, you have to chose a building. Between each door is a different au, and you have to decide.. do you *want* to step through that door? Sure the tags seems interesting, but maybe it includes (x), or you step in, and you don't like that way it's written, for whatever reason, and step back out.
There could be almost a similar fic, because one au of it is that they're mermaids, and the next is that their aliens, and you would still read both because you like the CONCEPT of it.
And maybe other things too, idk-
But the most important part, is that.. you can always chose to walk out that door again, if you don't like where it's going. It's all a mystical adventure, chosing which world you'll step into next. And like that, you're a dimension hopper. A time traveller, going through all these different worlds with quick footsteps, watching as the story plays out without anyone noticing you.
Sometimes you're a *part* of the story- and you can interact (somewhat) with the words, the pages- the world around you.
I don't understand why we have to insult people who make stories we don't like.
Just.. walk out the door.
It's like entering someone's home, a little apartment that they created, touched up with love and care.. and you judge their decor.
It's beyond rude. But I also understand that there are somethings that shouldn't be written about.. and some writers are too new- or too young- to understand that.
I guess this is just a long, convoluted way of saying that, if you enjoy walking amongst different worlds.. then please treat the creators of those worlds with the respect you would for a world you enjoyed.
