Today, May 13th, is the day I officially opened up this blog and began writing degenerate and immoral stories! 2 fucking years have passed, how time flies. So much can change in a year, and so do some of the stats!

I don't want to make the fun section of the update elaborately long, so I just want to say thank you so much to everyone for the support! Even though I'm not as active or as productive as I used to be, your eagerness never wavered, and you guys enjoy me talking about random shit on the side, whether it be song lyrics, Pokémon, or literally posts without any context to them. I love you guys. Here's to another year 🧡

Everything else from this point is a brief reflection and introspection of what I've been feeling since then. You can ignore this if you wish to do so.

So today marks the second anniversary since I opened up this Tumblr and became a degenerate writer. The work I've been putting up is getting worse—in a sexual and filthy way, not objectively—and my mental health has been getter much, much better! When I made the same anniversary post around this time a year ago, I was at an all-time low, mentally speaking. I really felt like I had not much left to give at that point, my skill has stagnated, and I thought there wasn't much for me to improve on. If you asked me if I had any future plans for this blog, I'd say I'd be done by the end of 2022, if not sooner.

It's now 2023, and I believe I'm as good as I can be right now. Slumps happen for a reason, and you can't always win, but it's how you bounce back from the lowest of lows that you reach highest of highs. And I believe I can still get better.

Genuinely, not to sound arrogant, because Lord knows I'm not the best fanfic writer—fuck no—I'm not anywhere close, even in a theoretical top 1000 list, but I do think some of my finest work have come up in my most recent fics. I don't know, it feels more polished and there was more effort and deliberation put into it. The numbers don't lie, either; every single work I published since May 2022 has over 400+ notes, and I've even passed the 1000+ note barrier twice! It goes to show that you guys are enjoying what I'm putting out as much as I love making them, slow and difficult it may be. I can fondly smile at last year's additions to my masterlist and say, "I can't believe I did that."

I do want to apologize if my output rate has drastically slowed down, and if I'm not as active as I was before. It's unfortunately part of the sacrifice needed for better quality control, and also because I have more personal commitments to attend to. 2023 has been fantastic for me so far in almost every department, except maybe physically—I could use more exercise—but that can be worked upon.

I do believe I'm on borrowed time. Again, look at the gap between fics over the past six months ago, and it's only going to widen once I enter my third year of college. I also have to begin considering what hobbies and other things I should do to occupy my free time, so I can be more productive as a person. This isn't to say I'm definitely quitting, but I expect more responsibilities to be shouldered onto me in the future, and having time for myself is going to be pretty much a birthday gift with how rare it might be given, and I'd prefer spending my time off recharging and relaxing instead of stressing over inconsequential or 'fun' things.

There's a lot of people I want to thank specifically, because while I was struggling with my own personal battles, they've been encouraging me to continue fighting and have been absolute lads—and lasses—throughout the past year. When I needed someone to talk to that wasn't my therapist, they were there, and I took solace in their comfort and companionship. I can't tag you guys, but if you're reading this—Chunk, Raf, Peach, Aaron, Sol, V1n, Iz, Ddeun, C.o, Kaede, Frisky, Smite, Shaun, Sins, Jett, Eros, Prael, Ken, Cray, CJ, Sooya, Gray, Svn—I sincerely thank you. God bless each and every single one of you. And to Tim, I really hope you can see this, but I'm truly, truly sorry. I hope we can find a way to bury that fracture in our relationship in the past, and we can reconcile. If not, then I just want closure and peace for the both of us.

So in closing, I want to thank you so much for sticking with me through the bad times and prospering with me through the good, and I'm always humbled that you've taken a chance on me when I started, when I was a hopeful newbie, two years ago. Now here we are. I appreciate every single one of you, be it a fellow writer, a reader, or a lurker.

Americanas evaluates legal action against former executives

Retail giant convenes December meeting to hold former executives accountable for alleged R$25bn accounting fraud

Americanas has scheduled an extraordinary general meeting for December 11, during which shareholders will vote on a proposal for civil liability action against former executives accused of involvement in accounting fraud revealed in January 2023.

The retailer intends to sue former executives Miguel Gomes Pereira Sarmiento Gutierrez, Anna Christina Ramos Saicali, José Timótheo de Barros, and Márcio Cruz Meirelles for “unlawful acts committed during the fiscal year ended December 31, 2022,” according to a notice published on Thursday.

In June, Mr. Gutierrez was arrested in Spain, where he has lived since January of the previous year when a shortfall—estimated at R$20 billion at the time—became public. However, in August, the Second Specialized Panel of the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region (TRF2) granted habeas corpus to the former Americanas executive, revoking his arrest warrant.

Also in June, Ms. Saicali— then in Portugal—had her preventive detention ordered by the federal court and subsequently surrendered to authorities in Lisbon. Her detention was later replaced by conditions, including returning to Brazil and surrendering her passport.

Okinawa, facing water shortage, asks US military to conserve

CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — With the rainy season three months away and Okinawa’s reservoirs already running low, the local government is urging the island’s U.S. military population to conserve water.

Okinawa’s 11 reservoirs are at half their capacity, on average, when they should be more than three-quarters full, according to a spokesman from Okinawa’s Prefectural Enterprise Bureau, which manages the island’s water supply.

Service members are asked to monitor water usage closely, to not leave water running and to refrain from watering lawns and washing cars.

Conservation now may spare stricter measures later, a spokeswoman for Marine Corps Installations Pacific, 2nd Lt. Kelsey Enlow, told Stars and Stripes by email Friday.

“We hope everyone is responsible with their water on the front end, so restrictions don’t have to go in place on the back end,” she said. According to the enterprise bureau spokesman, the reservoirs together were 26.8% lower than average for Feb. 9; for the past 10 years, they averaged 77.4% full. “We are doing everything we can to maintain the water level in the reservoirs, so we do not have to place restrictions on the water supply,” he said by phone Thursday.

The prefectural government contacted the Marines informally to discuss how the bases could reduce water usage, Enlow said.

“From those discussions, we are working to send out messages and infographics to our Marines” on ways they can reduce water usage, she said. “Currently, there are no restrictions to water usage” at U.S. bases on Okinawa.

Nine of the 11 dams that provide Okinawa with drinking water are overseen by the national government; the prefecture maintains the remining two. The island also has the Seawater Desalination Center in Chatan, near Camp Foster. Okinawa is composed primarily of coral and does not hold water as well as soil does. Its main water supply is its reservoirs, desalination plant, typhoons and the annual six-week rainy season, which typically lasts from mid-May to late-June.

As of Friday morning, the nine government-run dams were at 50.8% capacity, the prefectural Kurashiki dam at 48.1% and Yamashiro dam at 50.5%, according to the enterprise bureau. The 2023 rainy season provided far less rainfall than above-average seasons in 2021 and 2022.

Birthday Musician Finley Quaye, born 25th March 1974, Edinburgh.

Quaye comes from a musical background with Ghanaian lineage - his father was the jazz singer/pianist Cab Kaye, while his brother Caleb Quaye played guitar for Hookfoot and Elton John in the 70s, followed by a stint with Hall And Oates in the 80s. Quaye was raised in Manchester and on leaving school he returned to Edinburgh, where he worked as a paint sprayer, and often drove to Newcastle to attend gigs by artists such as 808 State and Soft Cell.

Moving back to Manchester, he embarked on a BTEC course in music and sound engineering, but did not complete his tuition. He briefly relocated to London where he joined the Donga Tribe and practised drumming. His aspirations towards a singing career began when he returned to Manchester, where he voiced a track for A Guy Called Gerald in one take. Shortly after the session, he returned to Edinburgh, where he unexpectedly heard the track on the radio, and subsequently began listening to dub music. His initial inspiration came from an unorthodox source, the New York-based avant-gardist John Zorn’s ‘Black Hole Dub’, although he was later inspired by more conventional performers.

Quaye recorded his first solo outing on a four-track tape, singing and playing drums, bass and guitar. In March 1997, he released the Ultra Stimulation EP, which demonstrated his diverse influences, including Charles Mingus, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. He also embarked on the live circuit, debuting at Bristol’s Malcolm X centre, where he supported Luciano.

In June, he released ‘Sunday Shining’, which gave a nod to Bob Marley’s ‘Sun Is Shining’, as well as other reggae hits including Dennis Brown’s ‘Money In My Pocket’. The song, delivered in a style similar to that of a young Burning Spear, became his first UK chart hit and Quaye’s unique approach was much lauded by the critics. The promotional wheels were set in motion with appearances at the major summer festivals, including the Essential Roots Day alongside Everton Blender, Cocoa Tea and Anthony B. in Finsbury Park, London, and the release of his debut album. Further chart success followed with the singles ‘Even After All’, ‘It’s Great When We’re Together’, and ‘Your Love Gets Sweeter’, and he was voted Best Male Singer at the 1998 BRIT Awards.

I wish I could say Leither, Quaye had gone from strength to strength, but he has had a troubled life since then, appearing in several courts on various charges after unsavoury incidents, one was over an argument over Game Of Thrones.  He was once booed off stage halfway through a performance at a Madness festival in 1998, billed as a pre World Cup bash, Finley endeared himself to the English partisan audience by making derisory statements concerning the England football squad’s likely performance in the competition, just normal Scottish banter, but the English didn’t see it that way! 

In 2015 he played a gig in Gloucester, not turning up for the soundcheck, eventually the gig began at 9pm and Quaye started playing with his back to the audience, the gig promoter appeared and ended it, kicking him off stage telling the audience he had never seen a man act so unprofessionally and telling them he would refund their money. In 2019 he was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work for punching a bar manager and threatening to stab him during an unprovoked drunken attack.

He was convicted of  of criminal damage after he admitted throwing sign through a bus door during a row over a fare that happened in 2020. 

He is back was back on stage a couple of years ago, as he celebrates the 25th Anniversary of his double-platinum debut album Maverick A Strike at Edinburgh’s Liquid Rooms on Wednesday 1st June and Glasgow’s Oran Mor on Thursday 2nd June 2022, he is also playing The Garage, London on May 27th.

I've not found a lot oof Finley lately, I hope he is well, I guess he does struggle with his mental health, like I do and\many more of us.

India and the UAE established diplomatic relations in 1972. While the UAE opened its Embassy in India in 1972, India opened its Embassy in the UAE in 1973. India and the UAE enjoy strong cooperation with the United Nations. Both countries are also part of several plurilateral platforms such as BRICS, I2U2 (India-Israel-UAE-USA), and the UAE-France-India (UFI) Trilateral. The UAE was invited to the G20 Summit held under India’s presidency as a guest country. The traditionally strong bilateral relations between India and the UAE gained new momentum when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the UAE in 2015, the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 34 years. This began a new Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Since then, PM Modi has visited the UAE five more times, most recently in November and December 2023, to attend the COP28 World Climate Action Summit in Dubai. In 2022, India and the UAE signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) during a virtual summit between PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. There have been multiple visits by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed from the UAE. In 2016 and 2017, he visited as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. In September 2023, he visited India as the President of the UAE to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit. In November 2023, he participated in the 2nd Virtual Global South Summit. In January 2024, he visited Gujarat to attend the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit as the Chief Guest. Earlier this year, in June, EAM Jaishankar met with his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to discuss the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Jaishankar also participated in the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Abu Dhabi during his visit. Today is raining although the rain stopped for now and on my way to work. i almost hit a poor dog. It is a small dog and had big eyes and dark yellow fur. I was soaking wet when i arrived, i wanted to walk from the back of the building to the cafe but they are repairing or maintain the building with a gigantic machinery, and the road was closed due to the dangerous operation. It was frustrating. And when i entered cafe, i smelled something weird, turns out it was from my cloth, which my mom preserved for over 10 years, its from a clothing shop on ZhongShan road and she deemed it will be a fashion trend again in som e years so she bought it. It’s black and deep blue and is a short sleeve shirt, very cozy when wearing it, i also wear a oversized black pants to match the shirt, with choker and ear ring, i even put on perfume. I had a cup of black coffee when i finned opening the store, then i doze off for an hour. Before that i sold a cup of hazel latte to a woman with glasses. After i woke up i spent some times on the second hand objects trading app and collected some picture of Mitsubishi Diatone LT-V5 turntable, CITIZEN GBM-50CP, Sony D88, and SANYO CDP-10. They are incredibly expensive. Before i started writing this the receptionist came over and asked if I want any snacks, for children’s day they are distributing them. I said no but she insist gave some yam chips. And she herself had snack too. She asked me why I’m not having lunch i replied with I’m not hungry, but she comes back with “you need to eat when It’s time”, so i heat my food with microwave and now I’m waiting them to cool down.

I didn’t have the energy to do this yesterday. I didn’t finish the fish steak i had nor do the two eggs. Later i drew anatomy of angelus, the person from new group chat drew porn. The shift ends before i could realized and i cleaned the machine including milk refrigerator. I posted a compilation of my drawing and a selfie on the WeChat moment. I took time to take the selfies at 4pm. When i got home they were both happy and had dinner of beef tomato mushroom stew, cauliflower fried with sausage, celery and a herb i don’t know the name of, they are bitter so I didn’t have any. I went for walk after that, and was sweaty. I slept early and didn’t select the clothing i want to wear in the next day.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.

Thursday 2nd June

Trooping the Colour: The Queen’s Birthday Parade will be held on Thursday 2nd June 2022 starting at 11am. The colour will be trooped by the 1st Battalion, Irish Guards, and more than 1200 officers and soldiers from the Household Division will put on a display of military pageantry on Horse Guards Parade, together with hundreds of Army musicians and around 240 horses. This annual event has now marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years.

During the Queen’s birthday parade A Royal Gun Salute will be fired.

Tickets for seated viewing of Trooping at Horse Guards Parade are now sold out but there is an opportunity for people to view the display as the troops parade to and from Horse Guards Parade as it passes on its journey between Buckingham Palace and the parade ground.

During the ceremony, there will be an opportunity to watch the event via large screens, set up in St James’ Park and many more members of the public will be able to watch the spectacle live on BBC and Sky television, not just in the UK but overseas too. Once the parade has ended and the Royal Procession has returned to Buckingham Palace, the Royal Family’s balcony appearance will happen as in previous years.

There will be an impressive Flypast to coincide with the Royal Family’s balcony appearance.

Placement Day 3: Thursday 28th September 2023

The plan for today was installing the “USU Creative Awards 2023” show. In the 2 days I was away from Verge and at my job, a lot of changes had happened. I could see the walls were finished with their final coats of paint, and works had already started being installed. When I first got in, I asked Maelyse if I could follow her around today. Before Tesha, Verge’s (Gallery Director) arrived, I assisted Maelyse with installing a work I assume she had been in the middle of installing the day before. (image below)

I used a drill for the first time and learnt the magnets install trick galleries do. Which is so interesting because I always wondered how they put magnets on walls to install paper works (even with my own work that had been installed this way in the past). I just assumed the wall was magnetic ?? Essentially you just drill a hole in the wall, then drill a screw in that hole. Line the paper work up and then put the magnets on top of the work and screws that are in the wall.

In the morning I was also introduced to Richard and Kyra (assumed spelling) who were assisting with installing the show. I have previously worked with Richard, as he installed my work for the New Contemporaries 2022 show.

When Tesha arrived, she asked Maelyse to go to Bunnings to do a shop. So I went with her on a little excursion. Our shopping list ended up included:

1000mm x 1000mm (WxL) Plywood, which would be used as a thin plinth for a sculpture work that would be exhibited on the ground.

Cable ties

Gloves

Masks

Eye googles.

Before we left, we got some expertise from Richard on the type of plywood to buy. He told us to check for bowing in the wood, and to also get plywood over MDF board because MDF is toxic when it is cut. This was a really useful piece of information. I’ve used MDF board before and I didn’t necessarily realise how toxic it was. In Richard’s words it is “the new asbestos.”

Our first task was to go to the USU Marketing office to pick up the Bunnings PowerPass card. So Maelyse and I walked to the Holme building. After that we walked back to the Wentworth Building bus stop and caught a bus to Bunnings in Alexandria. (Pictured)

When we got to Bunnings, we began looking at the plywood. The plywood they had was too thin, and all of it was bowing. The plywood that was thick enough wouldn’t fit in an Uber back to Verge. Maelyse called Tesha and Richard to ask their opinion, and they said to just get the MDF board, but to also get protective masks and gloves to avoid touching the raw material. (Pictured)

Once we were finished at Bunnings we Ubered back to Verge with our materials. The trip was really good, because I got to learn more about Maelyse’s practice and her job at Verge. Maelyse has worked as a casual at Verge since June 2023. She interviewed for the position. Maelyse works there one day a week, which is usually on Tuesdays, though she was working the whole week of the “USU Creative Awards 2023” install.

When we got back to Verge Tesha asked me to sand some walls, because some works were moved and installed in different locations. Tesha then asked me to paint over those remediated walls and the floor plinth we bought from Bunnings.

At this point we broke for lunch. The USU buys lunch for their employees every day, so Maelyse, Lucy and I walked to the ABS building and got lunch.

After lunch I assisted Lucy with Abbigail’s (assumed spelling) install. Abbi is a 2nd year student at SCA, we took CAEL2078: Warm Glass together in semester 1 of 2022. Veronica, Verge’s program manager posted this video of us on Verge's Instagram (below).

Abbi and I spoke about how her practice has progressed since we studied together. I realised the similarities between her “USU Creative Awards 2023” work and her work from the CAEL2078 unit we took together. We discussed this in relation to her 3rd year project next year.

By this time of the afternoon, the gallery was slowly coming together. I went back to just shadowing Maelyse, who was cutting the wood we bought from Bunnings to size. Then I shadowed and assited Veronica and Anthia who were installing decals and exhibition labels. I also shadowed and assisted Richard who installed an electrical work. I did some more painting and wall remediation after shadowing.

I also spoke to Raymond, a 3rd year student at SCA, who I also took CAEL2078 with. We spoke about his glass/clay works that are a part of the “USU Creative Awards 2023” show. These works were also a part of a show he curated at Backspace. Raymond also spoke about his expansion on this work for his final work in the upcoming New Contemporaries 2023.

At the end of the day, I assisted Lucy with cleaning the gallery space, preparing to finish up for the day. Essentially just sweeping up, wipe any visible paint marks off the ground with Methylated spirits. I learnt so much in the two days of deinstall/install at Verge, I kind of wished I had been there the whole week to see it all unfold and to be a part of it. But I had to go to work the days I was not there.
