also, how did you start with falconry? is aramis your only bird?

It's kind of a long story, I'll try not to make this too lenghty!

Falconers are few in my province and I didn't really know it was a thing (as in hunting with birds of prey) in my region until a friend had an internship in a zoo, training raptors for displays. She learned from people working there about a whole weekend falconry ''course/initiation'', which we signed up for together.

Following that, I joined the only FB group of falconers from my region and soon after someone posted an ad selling a great falconry book for a lot cheaper than market price. Turned out he lived fairly close to me so I drove there to retrieve the book. We talked and he showed me around his place, showed me his birds. And that's how I met my mentor!

I shadowed him for a couple of years and would hunt with one of his Harris's hawks, Robin. And when Robin and his mate Raven had their one and only clutch, nearly seven years ago, my mentor offered me one of their chicks. And the rest is history 🤍
