I HAVE ACQUIRED A NEW JAMES

This is the new AEG Motorized Graffiti James! I love him very much!

Here's my thing:

Do I think James would ever be into hip hop? No.

But do I think the design on his paintwork looks REALLY FLIPPING COOL???

HELL YEAH!!!!!

So of course the moment I saw him at the store I couldn't let him go. I love the gold lettering and the star on the A. I really wanna give my humanized James an outfit inspired by this because it looks so so cool.

Also his little truck says Sodor!

I just have 2 gripes with him:

The graffiti paintwork is only on one side. Which in my opinion is really lazy.

Could just be a defect on mine, but the hook on the truck is not put on the side that would actually allow James to carry the truck with the graffiti side facing out. The other side of the truck has a picture of a cow on it. And I know that my James would not want to be caught dead carrying farm animals ("Not splendid at all!" I think he would say)

But otherwise, he's a very fine engine! He looks cool, he goes fast, and he doesn't get stuck on the tracks (unlike some of my other motorized AEG engines)

So with that in mind I give the AEG Motorized Graffiti James a solid 8/10!

Hard mode: Despite Gotham loving The Signal, Duke still struggles with everyday racism out of costume (see "The Boys" season 1 scene where A-Train gets followed in the store by security for inspo/reference). Very few of the other Batfam members can relate

Fluff

The other kids celebrate Duke's first ___ (solving his first case solo, defeating his first Rogue, getting his first themed merch, etc.)

One (or more) of the older boys stalks Duke on his first date with somebody to make sure he's safe and/or being a gentleman

Hard mode: Someone makes/does/brings him something culturally significant – goes to church on a Sunday with him (bonus points if it's a holiday), attempts to make baked mac and cheese or sweet potato pie that Duke will eat to be polite, tries to learn any of various card games (Spades, Pinochle, Spit, Rummy) and learns that yelling is part of the experience. These are based on my experiences as a Black American person from the northeast, take it with a grain of salt and do your own research. Example.

My headcannons for what type of music the Batfam likes lol

Bruce: 40s love songs, mostly because Thomas and Martha are lovers of old music and art it’s a call back to Batman being such an old.. old character.

He also loves really, REALLY sad songs. Just straight depressing songs, like he knows all the lyrics to like the most downright suicidal songs ever.

Dick: he listens to very upbeat music, but like EDM and rap, he also loves circus music and really ridiculously old songs he knows all the words to “the flying trapeze” by heart ❤️

Jason: unironically his favourite album is Neil Cicirega's "mouth sounds" series of albums, he also would never admit it but he listens to Kikuo constantly. he's not a "fan" of vocaloid he just likes some songs. he also constantly listens to 80s and 70s hits as a call back to his character being popular in the 80s.

Tim: worst taste in music ever, he does NOT get the aux. it's all the most popular hits of the last 4 decades, for better or worse.

he also gets all the WE jingles stuck in his head, it's so bad.

it's mostly now video game OST's he got into FNAF lore at one point and actually solved it, and then got super into the music. he relates a bit too much, he calls Jason sometimes mike because they are both undead guys hellbent on keeping kids safe from the evils of this world, and Ra's afton because the bastard always comes back. he will BLARE "I hope you die in a fire" when working a Ra's case.

Damian: despite what he holds himself to he really likes the same fandom sorta music, video game lore was the only thing that Damien and Tim talk about, they have usually ZERO free time to watch or play games they just extrapolate wtf the game is about from their friends WITH free time. that being wally and bart.

so damien has a bunch of the living tombstones, classic Chinese and arabic music but mainly Pakistani, some 80s hits. 40s love songs because bruce is right they are really good, and some mislabeled cassette tapes\CD's Damien picks up on patrol that he likes.

Steph: she didn't really get a chance to listen to much music, since Cluemaster was a dick. but she did bond and learn to love Ballet music ever since Cassandra introduced it to her, she gets whole records and albums and buys one time releases on Ebay for herself and Cassandra. otherwise she just listens to audiobooks or podcasts when working.

Cassandra: TONS of ballet music along with classic Oprah music and theatre music, she goes to plays and pirates them, she listens to every single play or theatre music she can get her hands on. she listens to "rocky horror picture show" "the guy who didn't like musicals" "Coppélia" "Jesus Christ superstar" "The Mousetrap" any and everything. she adores it all, she and Steph are constantly looking for more records and plays to watch and pirate.

Barbara: weirdly enough 60s music, Jim rubbed off on her and she honestly just listens to all sorts of 60s sounding music, she had a Elvis phase where she just was constantly listening to Elvis, eventually she found out there was a TON of other 60s and 70s black artists who were ripped off by Elvis and started listening to them, she then eventually got into punk rock and rock and roll.

Harper: she is fully into the Gotham punk music scene, she literally is one of the biggest supporters of the Gotham punk scene. only random punk song CD's, videos she converted into CD's, old gothamite punk songs on vinyl, digital releases, she just has so much merch half she made herself and half she bought, she is the epitome of Gotham punk fan. she actually has a whole ass internet archive account dedicated to JUST Gotham punk.

Duke: weirdly he loves very ethereal and bright peppy music, only instrumentals though, listens to the weirdcore playlists on YouTube listens to corecore, he just has very strange music tastes.

sometimes he forgets his entire playlist is filled with weirdly ethereal music and the rest of the batfam get so confused, and think Jean-paul is blaring church music again.

Jean-Paul: only church music, he has the most bland music tastes, he sometimes listens to catholic metal or something when he's working but other than that he just blares organ music and mass and church music, everyone tries to tell him that he CAN LISTEN TO ANYTHING ELSE. PLEASE. but he just doesn't lol.

Thomas: he listens to 40s love songs and old Sicilian and Italian songs, he's a old fart, he loves old movie soundtracks.

William Cobb: circus music only circus music, late 1880s and 1950s circus music. it sounds like a clown house and it triggers the shit out of bruce.

Jarro: he's a baby, he has no actual opinions the batfam put on nursery rhymes andcoco melon

Thank you so much!! (Sorry this is like. 3 weeks late) but yes indeed I do!

• Duke can manipulate radio waves. Actual sounds waves, no, but everything on the light spectrum is fair game, which means Duke can intercept and send message. He doesnt need a comm link, he IS the comm link.

• He absolutely uses this for evil by sending messages to the bats from other people. No one ever suspects.

• Duke had the worst case of "dont meet your hero" when he met Tim. My guy grew up with Tim Robin, and then joined a gang *named after him* to fight evil. Then he meets the guy and hes just a cringefail teenage disaster. He loves the guy but will die if someone finds his stack of robin merch.

• Batman can always find him regardless of if he's invisible or not. Duke could stand perfectly still, not even breathe, completely cloaked and Bruce will call out to him to go to bed already.

• He absolutely refuses to let Alfred do any of his chores when he's in the manor. This caused many arguements in the first weeks, until Alfred saw Duke camp out in front of the laundry machine over night to guard his clothes from theives.

• Damian got him into anime.

• He is shorter than Dick, which apparently means he is fair game to be thrown over a shoulder whenever Dick feels like it. Duke will never admit to secretly liking it.

• He tried to do the same to Damian one (1) time, and still hears complaints about it a year later.

• He can't sleep in the dark. Not great when he's got roommates, but Duke Can Not sleep unless he can see light behind his closed eyes.

• He met Jason as Red Hood long before he met him as Jason. When living on the streets, Duke begrudingly admits that Red Hood can be pretty helpful sometimes, but is so utterly jealous of his bike that he wont let anyone touch, so Duke doesnt like him.

• He doesnt sugarcoat anything when explaining Damian to his school friends. Oh his little brother has an entire sword collection? Probably just in a Sword Art Online phase. He tried to kill Tim multiple times? Yeah thats what bring 8 is like, Kevin pushed his brother down the stairs at that age. Damian says he is the heir to an assassin league in the himalayan mountains? Yeah totally, and Jack has a super hot older girlfriend in Canada. All his friends think his tinny winny baby brother is adorable and Duke doesnt correct them.

Melbourne 23/11/23

I've seen these all over Tumblr before and now that I actually went to a gig for a band I follow on here, thought I might as well right down my experience of the show so...

Thoughts from the show

Me and my bestie got to the venue and started queuing at about 3:30-3:45 or something and we were in the first like a hundred or so in the queue (we did not mean to queue that early, we were going to go after school had finished - so like 4 or 5, but we got let out at lunch cause of final year 10 exams so...)

Made a bestie in the line who was great and who we stayed with throughout the gig, gonna love them forever❤️

The sun was shining directly down on us so like next time I am making sure to bring an umbrella or something as it was super fucking glary (it wasn't unbearable though which was good).

Bought merch, the Victoria Is My Girlfriend tank top and the grey t-shirt with the pink picture which are both so slay.

The doors opened at 7:30 and we got in some time between then and like 7:40, we had to fast walk to our gates which was fun but then by the time we got to the floor we were only like five people from the front or something.

Made another bestie while waiting for the gig to start who was very tall and basically became like a guardian angel for me and my friend, they had been to a bunch of moshes before and stuff and ended up keeping track of us the whole time which was fun.

There were two girls in front of us doing coke while waiting for the show, they offered me some and I did not know how to feel about it.

Damiano was SO FUCKING HOT IN PERSON I SWEAR TO GOD!!!!!!! I am never going to shut up about how fucking FINE that man is. He was sweaty and so damn sexy and his voice was flawless and I strangely got the gut urge to lick him which is something I've never had before.

Vic CAME INTO THE CROWD during one of the songs (sorry I couldn't remember which one, I was very distracted), stood less than a foot away from me, close enough that I could see that she is shorter than me which I did not realise, and she made DIRECT FUCKING EYE CONTACT WITH ME I AM NOT OKAY!!!!! This was the first of FIVE TIMES that this happened, I am never recovering and she is fucking GORGEOUS in person.

Thomas was so slay up close (and I mean up close, we were so close that I could pick out his individual moustache hairs I swear), he's a fantastic guitar player, he had a couple of solos but the main one was the big one he did at the start of the encore, I also made eye-contact with him once as he was directly in front of us for like the entire gig.

I also locked eyes with Damiano THREE TIMES, he also looked at my friend, I swear to god that man is so sexy I want to die.

Ethan's hair looked fucking MAJESTIC in person, he is such a fucking amazing drummer I SWEAR.

I took my shirt off somewhere in Valentine I think as it was too fucking hot, but then I had the best time just bopping around in my bra.

Damiano, Vic and Thomas all crowd surfed, sadly not near me, but it was fucking awesome.

They did Trastavere and Are You Gonna Be My Girl acoustic on a little stage at the other side of the stadium, I couldn't see that very well but it sounded AMAZING.

Ethan and Vic did a fucking amazing solo while Thomas and Damiano were coming back across the stadium, I think the song after that was IWBYS.

Damiano's shirt at the start was HOT - only buttoned up at his waist, but him shirtless in person killed me.

Vic's outfit was so fucking sexy I swear to god (and I got to see it up close, AAAAAAAAAA).

Ethan started off the show in a suit, then went to just a shirt, and then just a tie, and my god that man is attractive.

Damiano had an Italian flag at multiple times and it was so slay, at one point he got everyone in the crowd who was Italian to put their hands up.

The encore was The Loneliest and IWBYS, someone made Vic laugh during IWBYS and it was the cutest thing ever, she was like right in front of us for that.

In the encore I couldn't choose who to look at as I had Damiano on my left and Vic on my right and I felt weirdly like this was some kind of metaphor for my sexuality turmoil but it was amazing.

I am fully in love with Damiano's hair again, now that I've seen it in person I promise I will never doubt again.

They did all of the new songs from Rush! (Are U Coming?) and they were AMAZING!!!!!!

It is morning now, I only got five hours of sleep or less, the ringing in my ears has only slightly disappeared, my throat is going to hate me all of today, but it was so fucking worth it.
