The veteran musicians somehow end up looking in their own pasts to make the sense of their own possible futures, if that makes a lick of sense then. I mean, some manage to tour by playing their most famous albums, yet a couple like to rerecord them. Cale belongs to the category of these musicians, but don't hold that against him. Sure, he could've picked a better album for that than Music For A New Society. M:FANS, the remake, is not bad, one just find the latter a bit unnecessary thanks to the spectre of the original that remains one of Cale's greatest LPs thanks to the latter's haunting minimalism. I sort of get what Cale wanted to do with M:FANS, i.e. he wanted to check what happens with the grief later. Still, he should've tackled an album of original material for this theme.

The pictures on the wall behind you rattled at every breath-taking thrust, the usual bustle of the pub behind it vibrated clean through. Head hazily tilting to the side, your eyes caught sight of the dusty mirror on the far side wall and the display in it that forced you to let out a shuttering moan.  

“Shh,” Tommy’s hand shot up to clamp over your lips, “you promised you’d be quiet,” his desperate efforts didn’t slow down one bit as he growled underneath his breath, “you’re not fucking quiet.”

“I’m sorry, Tommy,” you whispered, teeth nearly sinking into his palm as you drooled, “it’s just so-”

“I know, I know, love,” his piercing eyes bore into yours, “save your praise till later, I’d love to hear them then,” fingers digging into your thigh that was hoisted up around him, pushing your crumbled dress further up, he then ordered, “but for now keep that pretty mouth shut.”

LA BÊTE (Bertrand Bonello, 2023)

Tres diferentes épocas convergen en esta película para conciliar una génesis común que mediante innumerables correlaciones alegóricas reflexiona acerca del extrañamiento ante el cambio. Un pasado indescifrable, un presente figurado y un inminente futuro. Cronografía de un delirio cinematográfico plagado de referencias y en cuyo eje transversal y espiritual se sitúa un personaje concéntrico: Gabrielle. El sonido del Evergreen de Roy Orbison pareciera un eco de su In Dreams en Blue Velvet, y el título de aquella canción, además, adquiere un doble sentido en la película de Bonello, que comienza con los desesperados gritos de Léa Seydoux sobre un verde que se fragmenta y difumina policromáticamente. En cierta forma y aunque audibles, podrían considerarse los gritos silentes ante la revelación de la bestia a la que Henry James alude en su aflictivo relato. Este sería el oxímoron resultante ante la depauperación existencial como consecuencia de la falta de atrevimiento y viveza en la toma de decisiones. No decidir también es decidir. Recelar del amor es tenerle miedo y, al final, solo queda echar la vista atrás, darse cuenta de que ya es tarde para comenzar de nuevo. La monotonía impera y la tragedia se encamina hacia su dodecafónico acto final: "When love is evergreen, evergreen. Like my love for you"...

⚡️ Next, the star who was forgotten, the first Marty: Eric Stoltz (I'm still waiting for the Stoltz cut of the movie😤)

But according to Thomas F Wilson in this interview, Stoltz went method to the point of annoyance. And looking at this photo...
