hi sorry for seriously posting and having real feelings about an isekai but im thinking about overlord again . specifically that bit in season 1 in ainz's fight w clementine where he starts by being like "i'd be a hypocrite if i judged you/hated you for killing the adventurers i was traveling with". and then when hes killing her saying that since she likely made their deaths slow and painful he'll do the same to her. and then when she's dead he says "i forgot to tell you. i'm very hypocritical" meaning he Did care and he Was upset that they died and maybe even that he held resentment towards her for it. ainz trying so hard to put up this image of aloofness and uncaring for anyone beyond nazarick and keeping a professional level of distance but deep deep down still craving connection with people who arent literally programmed to serve him and having this deeply buried compassion and respect for humanity that he can only share with a corpse
